She’s a brat. There’s no other way to put it. She defies me, talks back and has a nasty habit of getting on every single nerve I possess. Also, she’s a spoiled trust fund princess, and there’s nothing I despise more than entitled little girls with too much time on their manicured hands. But when I lay eyes on her for the first time, I sense something different lurking underneath that perfect façade. She’s sharp-witted. She has fire inside of her, and frankly, that makes me hard. It also doesn’t help that she’s so beautiful a lesser man would worship at her feet every single day of his miserable life. So, I decide to marry her. I need her more than she needs me, though I’ll never admit to it. But at what cost?
*** Abigail
He’s the devil incarnate. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating slightly. He’s rude, demanding and thinks the entire world revolves around him and his expectations. He’s the most infuriating man I have ever met, and to my utter dismay, also the most attractive. I’m being forced to marry him. My grandfather, the person I love most in this life, has had it with me. With my laziness and my unpredictability. No matter how much I cry or beg, he will not change his mind. I’m not wife material. I don’t want to submit to any man, much less one as strict and immovable as my future husband. He’ll try to keep me in check. I’ll give him a run for his money.
Dea Verdi is an author of romance novels with a twist of suspense and darkness. She started writing fanfiction when she was in college. During the pandemic, she decided to try her hand at creating her own original characters.
When she's not writing, she enjoys spending time with friends and reading too many romance novels.
This is Victor and Abigail's story. Victor wants to have an arranged marriage with Abigail as part of a business deal. He comes off as a little snobby at first but he grew on me. He thinks Abigail is the spoiled rich girl type and he's surprised to find that she has a lot of depth and personality. This book is romantic, emotional at times and I really loved it. I will definitely recommend it.
Thank you to the author, Dea Verdi, and Grey’s promotions for an e-ARC of this book 🤍
This book gave enemies-to-lovers energy (my favorite duh) with a convenience marriage trope, which immediately had me hooked. The MMC, Victor, was definitely on my shit list at first as he came off as cold and controlling, but watching him clash with the FMC and seeing their chemistry build was honestly addictive and super fun to read! The story was emotional, layered, and heartwarming. I loved watching both characters grow and evolve throughout the book, and by the end, their development made the journey completely worth it. Overall, this was such an enjoyable read with great tension, strong character arcs, and great vibes. “Little brat” 🥲🥲
Overall, Aquired Vow by Dea Verdi has everything I look for in a romance book, starting with the arranged marriage trope. I really enjoyed the structure, the story is excellently crafted from this perspective. The author has a fast-paced writing style, and I was easily pulled into the story.
“If you don’t speak up, if you don’t express an opinion, in whichever context that may be, don’t expect people to see you as anything more than completely disinterested”
Victor, though on paper seems like a decent match for Abby, is arrogant, cold and distant, and I loved watching that armor slowly melt away. It’s also fair to say he doesn’t think very highly of her at first, caught up in his own prejudices, and that clearly shows in his initial behavior. I liked that Abby isn’t intimidated by his attitude at all and gives as good as she gets. Yes, she’s softer and more vulnerable, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t speak her mind. Their dynamic has that cat-and-mouse tension that I found thrilling.
I loved how the attraction is instant, making the growing tension between them almost palpable. Since they don’t particularly like each other, they try to resist it, especially Victor, and it’s both entertaining and frustrating to watch them try.
I appreciated that Victor supports and believes in Abby, but I did notice a few inconsistencies in his character. I didn’t like that he isn’t very perceptive, sometimes allowing Abby to be disrespected by people at the company (I really didn’t like Dominic’s attitude toward her) and even by Vanessa. I hated that his first instinct was to reduce the situation to Abby throwing a tantrum, calling her petty and childish, instead of setting clear boundaries when it comes to his ex.
For me, it didn’t quite work that we spend so much time inside the characters’ heads. I generally prefer drawing my own conclusions about characters based on their actions, interactions and conversations, rather than having everything laid out through internal monologue.
★★★☆☆
This is a honest review for an ARC I received from Grey’s Promo.
No crazy drama or huge plot twist, just a wholesome love story about two people brought together for a company acquisition that had me giggling and swooning.
Abigail is the spoiled rich daughter with no direction in life, a little lost and unsure, but sweet and sassy. Victor is the typical cold workaholic CEO that thinks he’ll never get attached to or fall in love with a woman. Tie them together with a marriage contract and you get funny banter and some good old tension. But beneath all that there’s still emotion and depth. In the end these two came together so beautifully, I really enjoyed watching them fall in love with each other and see how these two were paired together so well. Grandpa definitely knew what he was doing 🤭
Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quick and easy read, or looking for a cute and spicy arranged marriage romance!
Thank you so much to Dea Verdi and Grey’s Promotion for the arc!!
An arranged marriage born out of obligation quickly turns into something neither Victor nor Abby saw coming. Victor needs the marriage to secure a deal, while Abby is dragged into it to satisfy her grandfather. What starts as a cold, strategic union finds some unexpected chemistry, sharp banter, and undeniable attraction. But just as feelings begin to blur the lines between duty and desire, the past resurfaces with consequences neither of them can ignore. Passion alone won’t be enough—can they fight for each other when everything threatens to tear them apart?
This book delivers a fiery enemies-to-lovers romance packed with power plays, forced proximity, and emotional tension. Victor is domineering and dangerous, Abby is defiant and sharp-tongued, and together they create an explosive dynamic that keeps you turning pages. Dark, addictive, and surprisingly emotional—this is an arranged marriage romance that doesn’t play it safe.
When you are about to lose everything due to scandal, would you marry out of convenience to aquire a thriving business? Victor does. And it gives him Abby.
Both very independent and comfortable with their lives, Abby is the one who surprisingly gets the worst end, so she feels. Long days and nights of doing what you want, when you want, and partying are gone! Time to grow up and learn structure. But is it too late?
Victor is the tall, broody business man who could have anyone. But there’s something about Abby that keeps drawing him in. Can they actually find love?
There’s twists and turns. Fights and hot sex. Dinners and fancy cars. But don’t forget what happens when you get sick and take antibiotics.. 😳
Acquired Vow slowly draws you in with the main characters Victor and Abigail. Once your in theres no turning back. I was so invested with these characters. I loved seeing the relationship grow between Victor and Abigail. They are different in so many ways, but they make it work. This was a great read.
Acquired Vow was one of those books that quietly grabs you… And then suddenly you realise you’re emotionally invested in a contract-marriage, enemies-to-lovers situation you absolutely did not sign up for. Rude. But in a fun way. It’s a clean, sharp, surprisingly tender take on a marriage of convenience — and it works because the characters actually do the emotional labor.
Abigail is not your soft, agreeable, docile FMC ready to be the perfectly behaved arranged-marriage bride. She’s rich, reckless, loud, bratty, wildly unpredictable — and honestly? Refreshing as hell. She’s chaos in pink Chucks with zero apologies, and the narrative never tries to sand down her edges to make her “easier” to love.
Victor, on the other hand, is the cold, closed-off, control-freak CEO of a cosmetic empire who worships structure, order, and emotional distance… until Abigail crashes into his perfectly curated life and refuses to fit into a single one of his neat little boxes.
From their very first meeting, the tension is feral. The banter? Sharp. The attraction? Immediate. The dynamic? Enemies-to-lovers done in a way that actually evolves — instead of skipping emotional steps and calling it growth.
What I loved most was that their relationship didn’t magically jump from contract to soulmate. We actually get to watch it change. It grows slowly, organically, and turns into something that feels earned — not convenient.
Abigail, who has always been dismissed as just a pretty, spoiled heiress — finally finds someone who genuinely sees her talent and pushes her toward her passion for painting. And Victor, who never believed he needed anyone — ends up craving the quiet, domestic, painfully ordinary moments with her the most.
Which… listen. That soft domestic switch-up will always get me. Their chemistry is ridiculously good from the start, and the emotional connection grows right alongside the physical one — without ever feeling rushed, forced, or convenience-plot coded.
Writing-wise, Dea Verdi structures the story around the seven stages of love — refusal, acceptance, attraction, infatuation, intimacy, commitment, and forever — and it genuinely makes the progression of their relationship feel intentional instead of manufactured.
My only tiny gripe? I needed more grovelling from Victor near the end. Personally? I would have happily watched that man suffer for a few more chapters. For character development. Obviously.
That being said, this was a solid, addictive, emotionally rewarding read that knew exactly what kind of romance it wanted to be.
If you love sharp banter, slow emotional payoff, a chaotic FMC, a control-freak MMC who gets quietly undone, and a contract marriage that actually earns its happily-ever-after…
Acquired Vow absolutely deserves a spot on your reading list.
Thank you Grey's Promotions and Dea Verdi for this digital arc. Acquired Vow follows the story of Victor and Abigail as they are forced into a marriage of convenience. Abigail (a rich party girl with no set direction in life) ends up having to marry Victor (the CEO of a makeup brand who has gotten bad press) because her grandpa refuses to let her continue in her party ways. Victor is trying to save his company so he agrees to marry Abigail in order to merge his company with Abigail's grandpa's company and help with the negativity surrounding his brand.
I really wanted to like this book. I really did. I was hooked at the beginnning, especially with the banter but this book lost me along the way. I felt no deep connection between the characters other than sexual. There were no deep conversations about why Abigail felt like she had no direction or why she hadn't finished her painting in over a year. There was no conversation as to why Victor didn't want to be married or have kids. Like give me growth in the characters, emotional development, conversations that lead me to believe it is more than just a physical attraction. I hated that Abigail just went along with what Victor wanted instead of continuing to stand her ground. I hated how demanding Victor was in trying to make Abigail obedient. Like I get trying to help her find something to do with her life (which he did and I love how he praised her for it), but it annoyed me that he kept trying to change her. Like you can still go out and party while having direction in your life. Like you can have both (in my opinion).
I also hated the "third" part of this book (the last two stages). Like I hated that they brought back "the ex" and made her clingy when she wasn't in the beginning. Like this just wasn't necessary and made the book longer than it needed to be. Like I get adding it for drama, but the whole baby thing could have been enough for the drama. Especially when the ex just kept on coming back and Victor wasn't doing anything about it (like my dude grow some balls and just outwardly tell her no, like stop somewhat leading her on by saying you'll get coffee with her). I hated how Abigail just forgave him so easily. There was not enough grovelling in my opinion.
Overall, this book was okay. I didn't like Victor and felt like we lost Abigail's edge throughout the book. Like I wanted more angsty banter but she gave in so easily trying to appease Victor.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Acquired Vow by Dea Verdi is an enemies to lovers, arranged marriage. Abigail is a spoiled, chaotic, trust fund princess who has pushed her grandfather’s patience to the limit. He arranges a marriage to Victor, a man who hates spoiled princesses, but he agrees to the marriage not because he needs her, but although he won’t admit it, because he wants her.
Abigail’s life implodes when her grandfather forces her to marry Victor, a man she can’t stand from the moment she meets him. She tries every trick in the book, begging, crying, she tries to negotiate but her grandfather doesn’t budge. However, Victor sees something beneath her bratty exterior, her spark, wit, and defiance get under his skin plus she’s a challenge, which Victor loves.
Their first meetings as you would expect are a disaster, with Abigail pushing every boundary, but Victor just shuts her down and refuses to tolerate her attitude. However, their chemistry is instant and explosive. The hostility between them is palpable, every conversation is a fight and every fight is foreplay. Once they’re married, the war intensifies and the marriage becomes a battlefield. But through all the battles, Victor sees the real Abigail, the “bratty princess” who hides so much, her insecurity and her need to be seen. He’s also the man who refuses to coddle her and believes she can be better. It’s Abigail’s fire that breaks through his armour that hides his loneliness and belief that love is weakness. Victor softens only for her whilst Abigail grows stronger because of him.
Abigail and Victors journey, is a slow burn which sees both Abigail and Victor grow, and their relationship shift from forced to chosen, enemies to partners and chaos to devotion. Abigail becomes the woman Victor knew she could be. Victor becomes the man Abigail never believed existed.
Acquired Vow by Dea Verdi absolutely devoured me. This is a deliciously sharp, tension-filled marriage of convenience romance that leans hard into power dynamics, enemies-to-lovers energy, and explosive chemistry and I loved every second of it.
Victor is the kind of MMC you love to hate at first: cold, controlling, dominant, and convinced he knows exactly how the world (and his future wife) should operate. Abigail is his perfect storm bratty, defiant, sharp-tongued, and wildly underestimated. Watching these two clash was pure entertainment. Their banter crackles, their push-and-pull is addictive, and the tension between them is so thick it practically hums.
What really sold this story for me is that beneath the forced marriage and fiery power struggle, there’s depth. Abigail isn’t just a spoiled trust fund princess she has grit, intelligence, and a backbone that refuses to bend quietly. And Victor? As rigid and infuriating as he is, you slowly realize he needs her chaos just as much as she challenges his control. The emotional shift from obligation to desire to something dangerously close to love is paced beautifully.
This book is spicy, yes but it’s also emotional, layered, and surprisingly tender in places. The chemistry is intense, the stakes feel real, and the character growth makes the payoff incredibly satisfying. If you love: 🔥 Marriage of convenience 🔥 Bratty FMC vs. controlling MMC 🔥 Enemies-to-lovers tension 🔥 Power struggles that turn very personal …then Acquired Vow deserves a spot at the top of your TBR. I couldn’t put it down and will absolutely be reading more from Dea Verdi. 💖🔥
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The way I loved this book omg! Dea Verdi writing was so damn good. Acquired Vow it's the first book that I read from this author but omg i need immediately to read everything that she's done. I was hooked from start to finish Victor and Abby story was so insanely good, what started with an arranged marriage leads to a tender, emotional and very true romance. The chemistry, the tension between them was definitely intense. The relationship between Victor and Dominic was so funny they're truly like brothers same to Violet and Abby the way Violet takes care of her during the last chapters was so heartwarming. So seeing that i mentioned Dominic and Violet pretty please I need so bad a book about them I already know that's gonna be so good. Victor is controlled, cold but when he finally let himself go he feel 100% the way he opens up to Abby, the way he loves her omg I need him in my life too Abby is amazing I loved her from the very beginning she's such a force of nature, her remarks were so funny and the way she's annoying Victor makes them even more funnier. The arrange marriage trope it's one of my personal favorite and in this book was beautiful done so i highly recommend it you won't regret it trust me on that!
Victor's a CEO and a notorious playboy, but unfortunate incidents threatening his company force him into an arranged marriage with Abby as a condition for acquiring her grandpa's company. Desperate to keep his business stable, Victor is willing to do anything.
Abby on the other hand, is a spoiled brat but she'd do anything to make her grandpa happy, even if it means agreeing to an arranged marriage she doesn't want.
This book takes us 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 7 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴 (𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨), showing how Abby and Victor react to the arranged marriage, and the emotions they experience from refusal, to attraction,..and finally commitment. Each stage highlight their growth, their flaws and how they learn to coexist and love each other.
One of the main reasons I adore this book is how it brought back the feelings I used to have when reading Wattpad billionaire romance stories. It was comforting and fun to read. It just made me feel nice reading it❤️.
"She asked me to fuck her, and I did, like a goddamn savage."
I could not put this book down. Between the tension, the banter, the way you never knew who was going to break first, it was addictive.
I loved how feisty and reckless Abby was. She was always keeping Victor on his toes and I ate it upppppp. And Victor... he's the man you love to hate but somehow is so unbelievably hot that you actually just don't!? I'd easily fall to my knees to his demands just saying.
Omg also tell me how I low key loved the nickname Victor had for Abby. There's just something about when a man calls you a 'little brat' that does it for me!!!
This book was surprisingly emotional and tender. It wasn't your average spicy, hate to love, marriage of convenience story. I truly enjoyed how we got so much depth and growth from both characters throughout the book.
Overall, the chemistry is insane and the banter alone is top fkn tier. I would highly recommend adding this to your tbr!
Thank you to Dea Verdi and Greys Promotions for the arc and happy release day!!!
• Billionaire Romance • Arranged Marriage • Enemies to Lovers • Age Gap • Endless Banter + Tension • Forced Proximity • "My Wife" • Dual POV
💍 From reluctant vows to real feelings—this marriage of convenience had me hooked.
📖 Acquired Vow by Dea Verdi ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tropes: 💍 Marriage of Convenience 😈 Bratty FMC × 🧠 Controlling MMC ⏳ Age Gap 💼 Billionaire
Raised as a spoiled heiress, Abigail is suddenly expected to marry Victor—the powerful billionaire buying her grandfather’s company.
Victor thinks Abigail is entitled and irresponsible. Abigail thinks Victor is arrogant and controlling.
Neither of them wants this arrangement… at first.
What starts as a purely transactional marriage slowly turns into something real as they go from strangers, to reluctant partners, to genuinely falling in love. Watching their relationship grow from nonexistent feelings into something soft and meaningful was one of my favorite parts of this book.
I really loved how their romance developed naturally over time. Despite their very different personalities, they somehow just work. Their chemistry wasn’t instant—it was built, layered, and paced beautifully, which made it feel even more satisfying.
Overall, this was such a fun, romantic, and addictive read that I couldn’t put down.
Thank you Grey’s Promotions and Dea Verdi for this ARC. 💖📚
Not going to lie, I was worried over the book when it started with a grandfather offering up his granddaughter in marriage as a punishment for missing his birthday lunch… I thought I might be heading for one of those drama stories that are nothing more than ridiculousness and only draw readers in by how incredibly bad they (and the characters in them) are.
Thank goodness I read it anyway, because it was NOT that. Let the forced marriage concept go, because you’ll really enjoy Abby & Victor’s story!
There was a lot to love. For starters, both characters are completely stubborn and have found the perfect counter in the other. Dea did an amazing job keeping the characters true to themselves as they fell in love in a realistic and relatable way.
Pros: Banter, character development that feels real, a lead-in for the next story (D & V… I hope!?!?), plenty of spice, lots of funny moments… no dull moments where you’ll put the book down and forget about it.
This was my first book by Dea Verdi, but it certainly won’t be my last!
Acquired Vow is an arranged marriage story. Victor and his father have been trying to acquire a rival cosmetic company and just when it seems like they have reached an agreement the owner decides to throw in marriage to his granddaughter as a condition to the terms. While Victor really wants the company he has no plans to get married and is willing to walk away until his company is in jeopardy and losing money. So Victor agrees to marry Abigail. Now Abigail is unaware of this arrangement and when she finds out is horrified, but she loves her grandfather so she complies. Most of the book is about the marriage between these two. I really expected some big secret or scandal to occur. This is a low angst story of two people forced into marriage and how they try to get along with each other. There is the normal growing pains and I enjoyed reading and watching these two stubborn people slowly let their walls down and let the other one in. This is just a very simple, romantic story and I enjoyed it. I am looking forward to Violet and Dominic’s story.
This book hooked me immediately with its enemies-to-lovers energy mixed with a convenient marriage, which is basically my weakness. Victor absolutely started out on my personal shit list with his cold, controlling CEO vibes, but watching him clash with Abigail and slowly unravel was so satisfying and honestly addictive. Abigail might be a spoiled rich girl on the surface, but she’s also sweet, sassy, and a little lost, which made her easy to root for as she figured herself out. Their banter is fun, the tension is constant, and that chemistry builds in a way that keeps you flipping pages. Beneath the humor and spice there’s real emotion and growth, and by the end it felt so earned watching these two fall into something genuine and soft together. Grandpa definitely knew exactly what he was doing pairing them up. Cute, spicy, emotional, and easy to devour, this is a perfect pick if you’re in the mood for an arranged marriage romance with great vibes and a satisfying payoff.
Acquired Vow is a Marriage of Convenience, enemies to lover romance between Abgail and Victor. In Victor’s opinion Abgail is nothing but spoiled-rich brat who have everything fed in silver spoon and according to Abgail, if there is devil on earth, it’s Victor. Their dynamic is so funny and hilarious. The chemistry between these two is so shakingly- intense and their banter is funny and have that attractive chemistry between them.
In my opinion, this trope and genre is really common nowadays and you’ll see lots of book based on this genre and to highlight your book and write something new in this genre is unique and brave and I feel Acquired vow has that newness, along with old same recipe like Possessiveness, attraction, chemistry and banter that will make reader of this genre go gaga while reading.
Overall, I think this is a good Marriage of Convenience read and also this has pregnancy trope which I know lots of people hate but I think we should give this a go.
4.5 stars ⭐️ Abigail is required to marry Victor as part of the contract her grandfather set up when he sold his business to Victor. What starts as an arranged, love hate relationship eventually takes a turn. While they still have plenty of back and forth banter, they physically can’t stay apart! 🔥🔥 That steam eventually leads to love but Victor keeps his walls up more than Abigail and she’s afraid of getting hurt. Victor sees who Abigail is and her strengths and he works to encourage those. They compliment each other well as she helps him to balance work and life a bit more. However the wrench thrown into their relationship toward the end could change things. So full of steam, chemistry, banter, and romance that you just keep reading to find out what happens next and where they end up. Now I can’t wait for her next one!
Can I just start off by saying I love whenever I see someone being referred to as a brat? Mainly because I am a brat. The story was cute, Abby is our party girl who is forced into a marriage by her grandfather with Victor, a guy who she has never met but will take over her grandfather's cosmetic company. It starts off rocky as one would expect, when you are marrying someone you've never met. Victor is trying to keep our party girl in line and eventually sparks fly. I love seeing Abby's development into leaving her party lifestyle and interest in becoming better. There are some stunts with their previous exes which, I love the pangs of jealousy that comes from both of them. Overall the ending was really cute but I personally, if I was Abby would be a bit more mad and not have caved so easy which gave it like a "okay lets wrap this story up" vibe.
Acquired Vow is such a heart stopper! It’s packed full of tension and angst and that makes you desperate to keep reading to see where the story takes you! Victor is the perfect MMC that you’ll want to hate. The arrogance of this man will make you want to slap him 😏 Abagail is a fierce storm you don’t want to mess with. She has zero direction in life and is essentially a spoiled brat. They’re contracted to be married and merge their family’s companies. Watching these 2 banter and hate each other is so hilarious and entertaining. I mean the line between love and hate is real with them! BUT their chemistry is so damn hot 🥵 🫠😏 I absolutely love how both of these character grow, there’s so much depth and layers to them. And they BOTH have such a fantastic redemption arc 💓🖤 This book was such a fantastic page turner for me, highly recommend 💥
First, I have to thank Grey's Promotions and Dea Verdi for the e-ARC.
This book was funny, heartwarming and overall, kind of wholesome. I truly enjoyed the characters growth, the development arc and their chemistry.
Acquired Vow is an original rom-com with no huge plot twists or suspense, but it kept being entertaining by witty banter and well-rounded MCs. The MMC turned out to be a bit of a struggle for me in the beginning, but he evaluates how he comes off and reedems himself by adjusting his behavior. The FMC finds herself along the way and also finds her true potential, which was in and of itself so much growth.
Really recommend this book, it could surprise you. The tropes are tried and true, there is a reason arranged marriage and enemies-to-lovers are some of the most popular in the genre.
I was first interested to read Acquired Vow when I saw the tropes age gap, arranged marriage, and billionaire romance. But when I got into the thick of the story I soon was loosing interest and it wasn't doing it for me. Abby is a cosmetics conglomerate princess who has no direction or motivation except for partying with her friends. However, after missing her beloved grandather's birthday lunch because of her carelessness, grandpa has other plans for her. Victor is CEO of Demonte Cosmetics which is facing some backlash online. The only solution is to acquisition his competition Sylbel. But there's a stipulation, he must marry the the head's granddaughter to get the company. Long story short, Victor is an a$$hole to his wife because he thinks she's young and spoiled (which is true) and only wants to control her. Abby wants to still live her life but now feels trapped in this marriage of convenience. There's jealousy abound when their previous lovers come into the picture. It honestly kept getting messy in a repetitive way. I don't know what Abby sees in Victor. She deserves better. I couldn't tell you one thing I liked about Victor. If you want to read a story with a jerk of a husband the whole time, jealousy whenever the ex is mentioned or seen (which is often enough), and *SPOILER* a surprise pregnancy, then this book is for you. Otherwise I don't recommend it.
A rather interesting book. The plot was beautifully written and the chemistry between the characters was spot on. I loved the approach that was made for this marriage of convenience plot and how they developed their relationship, but I had one major reservation about Victor. I felt that he had become a bit to hypocritical at times when it came to Abby. He supposedly sees her true self but yet treats her so cruelly and becomes so hypocritical in certain situations. I found that there wasn’t really much growth from him towards the end. Abby did a lot of the developing and growing within that relationship and Victor started to become immature at some points in the book.
This is Victor and Abigail’s story. Abigail is wealthy, and unpredictable party girl, who has pushed all off the boundaries, and her grandfather’s patience to the limit, and he arranges for her to marry Victor. Abigail hates Victor, who she thinks is infuriating, rude, and demanding, who in turn thinks she is a spiled trust fund princess, but he sees through her persona to the women underneath. This is a good slow burn, emotionally charged story, with family, emotions, a marriage of convenience, tension, chaos, enemies / lovers, humour, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an enjoyable, and unpredictable page turner. I look forward to reading more from this author.
If you’re looking for your next obsession, stop scrolling.
Acquired Vow by Dea Verdi completely had me.
This is a deliciously sharp marriage of convenience where the power dynamics are just as intense as the chemistry. Victor is the cold, dominant billionaire you’ll love to hate, and Abigail is the "bratty" FMC of my dreams—she’s got grit, brains, and a backbone that refuses to bend.
Their banter is electric, the push-and-pull is addictive, and the slow-burn transition from obligation to genuine desire is paced to perfection. It’s spicy, it’s layered, and the payoff is pure fire.
Read this if you love: 💍 Marriage of Convenience ⚡️ Enemies-to-Lovers Tension 🔥 A "Bratty" FMC vs. a Controlling MMC 📈 Top-tier Spice + Emotional Depth
Thank you @dea.verdi and @greyspromo for the opportunity to read and review this arc.
This follows FMC Abby and MMC Victor. Victor is the CEI of Demonte Cosmetics and Abby is the granddaughter of his rival company that he is trying to by. Abbigail's grandfather has agreed to sell his company Sylbel as long as he agrees to marry his granddaughter who considers wild.
There is a lot that happens between these two, his past tries to interfere and Abby ends up pregnant after getting sick and put on antibiotics. This is an issue only because Abby knows that Victor has never wanted children. He does not think he wants to be a dad because he has made the company his only priority.
Let's just say he ends up having to grovel to win Abby back.
This is an emotionally charged read. The tension between Victor and Abigail evolves in a way that feels natural, it grows slowly from enemies to something substantial and real.
Abigail is a force of nature. She is not an agreeable FMC, she is rich, use to getting her way, a party girl and unpredictable. Victor is cold and controlling, so when Abigail crashed into his word, it is pure chaos.
What really hit the mark is how their relationship shift from obligation to something real. I loved how Victor saw beneath Abigail’s layers and realized everything she had to offer, how intelligent she was.
