Where do I begin with this review because I’ma tell you, I was screaming and yelling at my Kindle for a good 75% of it! The story revolves around this self-centered, somewhat shallow, fucked up in the head, but deep down with a heart of gold, tortured artist (why are they all so troubled?) named Roman Harper, and all the shit he puts himself and the people in his life through. I’m like, Dude, come on! You have been blocking your blessings since day freaking one! You’ve got a life some would kill for, a couple of really good friends, and the woman of your dreams, but you are about to fuck it all up because you can’t let go of the past and move on!

Like I said, Roman is an up and coming artist with mad skills. He’s not only extremely talented, but extremely sexy, yet extremely damaged. Because of past events, he is processing some internal trauma that has left him jaded in more ways than one. His family life is fucked up, and his love life fares no better. Roman doesn’t “do” relationships. He enters into mutually sexual agreements. The moment feels come into play, it’s a wrap. Oh, and to top it off, he has a stalker sending him cryptic, creepy emails containing declarations of love and promises of happiness.

Roman keeps his circle tight and only lets in a select few. There’s Brad, Malik, and my girl Bianca, or B. Brad and Malik are used to his douche-y ways, but Bianca ain’t having it. She’s ride or die, and if she claims you as a friend, that’s what you’re gonna get in return-to the point of nuisancy (yeah, I made that up) at times, but you feel for B because her home life is fucked up too. Her parents front like they’re the Huxtables, but are really more like The Bundys-but with money. Bianca needed closeness and to feel loved, and Roman had his head so far up his ass that he couldn’t even see it. Instead, he pushed her away. But for all of this, I was routing hard for Roman. And for B. And for Roman and B. Arghhhhhh!!!

While this mad rant sounds like I hated the book, I actually didn’t. Books that strike a nerve with me-good or bad, is a good book. Any book that has you screaming like a fool and shaking your head like a maraca is a good book. I actually did have a soft spot for Roman. He just drove me absolutely nuts for most of the story, but I won’t tell you if he redeemed himself or not. This is where you click and find out for yourself!

Final rating: 4.5 stars. I took off half because I got a sore throat and a minor case of whiplash;)

I was bored. I didn’t felt connection with these characters. And also didn’t felt any special bond between main characters.
There is little mystery. Who could be this mysterious stalker. And it is bad if you figure out this person right at the beginning. Then at the end there is no surprise.

☆ I received an RC via the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! ☆

3.5 stars!!

Heartache was an all around interesting read that kept me intrigued and on my toes. While the plot synopsis gives you a vague of glimpse of what to expect, actually sitting down and reading it became quite a conundrum, as I constantly kept trying to figure out the evasive and enigmatic Roman Harper and what made him HIM.

Roman is a shroud of mystery and undoubtedly an aloof, closed off, and untouchable type of character who is a professor and an up and coming artist.

He’s not the type of guy you’ll love right off the bat, as he’s a very withdrawn and the type where he prefers no attachment to people (and women) aside from his three besties….HOWEVER, he does grow on you by the end.

His life is a mess and in shambles, but it inspires some of his greatest masterpieces and gains the adoring eye of a disturbing stalker who eerily makes their admiration and obsession for him known throughout the read.

Now he must confront the demons of his past to not only to protect him, but also to protect those he cares about including Bianca.

A predominantly suspenseful read, and sometimes frustrating one at that. Roman’s “issues” at times felt a little drawn out at times and made me feel a mixed reaction of towards him. I didn’t know whether to love him or want to slap some sense into him at times! Haha. Luckily though, Bianca was a strong female who kept him on or kicked him into course, although she too comes from a painful upbringing as well that even more so want to bring Roman off of his PMS moods.

Over all though, a great start to this series!

Roman Roman Roman...sigh.

This isn't the first book of Danielle Allen's that I have read, but it only took a few chapters become my new favorite of hers. She writes Heartache in a way that is funny, mysterious, and keeps the reader guessing!

Roman has kept his scars from his past under wraps for good reason, and when some secret stalker starts playing with his head, as a reader you start thinking of each character that COULD be behind the threats and evil moves.

I COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT! Then when I found out who it was, and then looked back, realizing that all the clues were there. That showcases how amazing of an author Allen is. She keeps the reader turning pages and guessing. She writes sexy hot scenes and sad heartbreaking moments. She's all around a solid, powerful force in this book world.

Heartache is a book that I will hold close to my soul, and I am proud to say Danielle Allen is a new favorite author! <3

Roman Harper. Let me tell you about Roman. #NoSpoilersTho.

He's thoughtful, caring and understanding with his friends. He's a sexy artist, and women can't seem to help themselves around him. You know how it is. The guy who just wants to be left alone has a string of women after him. One beautiful lady is on his radar, but he is hell bent on fighting his feelings for her. Sometimes you just want to crack him over the head, like "Hey Roman! Heyyyyy!" lol

Roman is like a rare pearl. Once you discover what's inside his shell, you'll be more than happy with him. In love even. But it's not going to be easy. There is so much I want to say, but I don't want to give any of this story away. You need to meet Roman for yourself!

If you've ever been stalked then this story will really resonate. It's especially scary when the person won't reveal themselves or they are known to you and they just won't take NO for an answer. Both types are scary as hell.

Roman. Plain and simple -- women are very attracted to HIM, so much so that they refuse to accept that he's not interested. This is not an apocalyptic tale and Roman is not the last man on earth!

Roman has acquired a stalker that refuses to reveal herself and she crosses the line of acceptable behavior -- again and again. Roman isn't interested in a romantic relationship with anyone, not even with his best friend Bianca whom he constantly pushes away, time after time. EVERYBODY has a breaking point, I just reached mine faster than the heroine did.

I enjoyed the story, just not the flakiness of the hero.

*ARC received for an honest review* Romance Mystery, I liked that. Can friends become lovers? I'd say yes. Roman n Bianca has been friends for a while but because of his past he wouldn't embrace the future. Who's messing with his head tho? That is the mystery. Surely it was a page turner. I was swooning over Roman then on the other hand, I wanted to pull my hair out, then swoon again. Oh to just be a face model for the hot artist :D... But all in all both him and Bianca got their HEA. I liked the supporting characters as well. Easy was a hand full while Malik was more laid back. Good read.

Roman Harper has a past that has traumatized him and he won’t allow himself anything other than brief sex-only connections. There is such angst in this story as bits and pieces of his past are revealed. Certain triggers hit him and he ends up painting and doesn’t realize that others can see his pain in his art.

Roman thinks more than talks in this story, and, while I prefer lots of dialogue, I learned a lot about him in this format. He definitely reveals a lot in his thoughts but at times I wanted to whack him upside the head and tell him to spit it out! He has such guilt over an event in the past, pain from family issues, and won’t let himself have a relationship.

Roman is definitely a good looking man and has no problem attracting women. He was always upfront with women, telling them that it would only be sex for him and no relationship. Some women were fine with that, while others fell in love with him or tried to follow him around – some very aggressively.

Roman is an art professor and artist, who hasn’t ‘made it’ yet. But after he was fortunate enough to be contacted for representation, he worked for a couple of months straight to have several pieces for his upcoming show. After his unbelievable sold out art show, his friends wanted to have a party for him. Unfortunately, it got out of hand and instead of just 3-4 people, there were a large number in attendance. Roman seems to be uncomfortable in crowds but they had several drinks to celebrate. When he awakes the next day, someone has left a message for him on his bathroom mirror. He immediately checks his email and is stunned with the comments made – someone that has seen his paintings and believes that he would understand their pain, they would be a good match, etc. The email messages quickly become more and more creepy and as the friends come up with names to try to figure out the ‘admirer’, you can’t help but wonder if something will scary will happen (I remember the boiling bunny well from years ago!).

He has a long-time friend Brad, Malik who he met in college and is an IT person (which comes in handy later in the story), and Bianca, who worked as a graduate assistant for him. The banter was really funny at times between the four and they didn’t take any crap from each other.

The suspense slowly builds, and I was getting tense - not quite scared but definitely wanting to check to see if the blinds were closed and the doors were locked!

There is definitely sexual chemistry between Roman and Bianca and when they are together, he fights the attraction. It gets more and more difficult to keep thinking of her as a friend. We see from his thoughts that he doesn’t think he deserves her or anyone due to his past. He was irritating with his desire to be with Bianca, but then backing off – over and over. This hurt Bianca terribly, as she had her own painful family situation, and again, I wanted to hit him.

Ms. Allen is a new-to-me author, who has written an intriguing story with well-developed characters. I felt the pain of the characters and found myself fussing at Roman to just speak more! I look forward to reading more of Ms. Allen’s work. And I really love the cover!

Wow! This is the first book I have read by Danielle Allen and it won't be the last one either! This was a very different, refreshing read, albeit, sometimes very frustrating!

We meet Roman Harper, a 28 year old teacher and artist, with a background of mysterious baggage that unfolds slowly through the story. We meet his friends, who are few and far between, including Bianca, his best friend. After a celebratory party for his first showing at his house, we discover that he has a creepy female stalker who leaves a lipstick message on his bathroom mirror.

On top of his female stalker problem, he and Bianca seem to have more than "friend" feelings for each other. Roman fights that with everything he has because he doesn't want any relationship with anyone. There were times when I wanted to reach into my kindle and strangle him. He repeatedly makes the same mistake and poor Bianca, I felt so bad for her to be on the receiving end of that.

I got to the point where I couldn't put the book down! I needed to find out who this stalker was! And finding out who it was shocked me. And while Roman really angered me at times, I felt bad for him. The turn of events 8 years ago in Roman's past really mess up his life. Can he figure it all out and move past that?

"The others have a marker indicating the price, but this one doesn't. Was that an oversight?"
"No, It's not for sale."
A college-aged man with a notebook in his hand lifted his pen and asked, "What's the title of this one?"
I cleared my throat. "Heartache."

I really enjoyed this story and will definitely check out Ms. Allen's other stories. I highly recommend this.

Heartache will just blow your mind! I am just blown away from this book! This book is the type that grabs you right from the start and once you start you can not and will not want to set your kindle down!

***There are NO spoilers for this review! Honest from the heart review**

Roman oh god what do I say about him?!? He's hot, he has baggage, infuriating, and swoon worthy! Countless of times I wanted to get into the book and smack him and tell him to snap out of it!

Roman is an artist. He has his close network of friends he trusts. Easy, Malik and Bianca. Between the three of them, the help Roman when he needs it. They are a group of friends that you can relate too! Always there for each other thru thick and thin. Willing to call you out on your shit, there for a shoulder to cry on and there when you need smacked.

Roman is the victim of a stalker. The stalker gets a little close to home for Roman and he's bound and determine to find out who his stalker is. This is where you get sucked in. I freaked out because my mind was trying to figure out who it was. Little things that was said to Roman. Just when I thought I knew who it was GAME CHANGER!!

Roman doesn't want to get close to anyone because of his past. But it's because of his past he needs to protect his inner circle.
Will his ability to let go of the past jeopardize his future?!?

This book is a MUST READ!! I love this book and I have no doubt as a reader you will not regret one clicking it! Danielle wrote a truly awe inspiring book! Take a chance one click it!

Roman is a sexy artist who is finally finding some real success in his work. He has a couple friends, but isn't really close with anyone, and is never going to engage in a sexual relationship with a woman who wants a relationship outside the bedroom. His life takes a turn when a cryptic message is left on his mirror and he finds himself the focus of a secret admirer who may also be a stalker. Around this time he also starts to see his best friend Bianca as something more than a friend, which causes him to panic and fear that he will need to push her out of his life.

Roman was a tough character. He was sexy, but very frustrating, and at times I just wanted to shout at him to stop acting stupid. I loved Bianca and it was tough to see her go through so many challenges just to be a good friend to Roman. This book has a lot of emotional highs and lows, but through everything I did care about what happened to these characters. The element of mystery in trying to determine who was sending the messages to Roman kept things interesting as well. I did end up guessing who the person was, but only right before that person was revealed in the story. I enjoyed this book and would read more by this author in the future. 3.5 stars

Roman...Where do I start? What a character he was! He has so much going on. He's an amazing artist and a great friend, but deep down he is full of hurt and pain. Countless women flirt with him, but he doesn't do relationships. The reason why, you'll have to find out!

I love the relationship he has with his friends Easy and Malik, and B (Bianca). They have been friends for years. Something is stirring up between them, but there are other factors which interferes and will blow your mind.

Now comes all mystery and suspense surrounding the emails Roman is receiving. It had me wondering who could be doing that? There were so many suspects and I was so caught up waiting to see how it would all end. When I thought I knew, I didn't and I loved every minute of it!

Danielle did an amazing job with this story!! Looking forward to more from her! Do yourself a favor and add this to your tbr list. You won't be disappointed!

This was the first book I've ever read by this new author, but it won't be my last! There were many episodes where I was pulled into this interesting story-line, lost track of time and did not want to stop reading! But, then there were other times where I was confused or extremely frustrated with Roman, the protagonist :( ... I wanted to scream out loud, so I would have to get up & away from the story for awhile :o ... I still would recommend this book to fiction lovers of contemporary romance with drama, and give kudos to this sophomoric author for a good job :) I will look forward to reading her new work in the future :) ... This is a bit of romance colliding with a bit of mystery. Roman Harper has been living with secrets and deep rooted emotions that he tries his best to keep under lock and key. As you move through the story you begin to draw conclusions that may or may not be the end result. Danielle of course finds a way to pull you in and weave you through the mystery with questions, intrigue and excitement.

While Roman is not an easy man to crack you fall in love with his journey and strive to move forward. All along his potential love interest, Bianca, is a force to be reckoned with! The two of them create a chemistry that will ignite anyones soul and spike your pulse.

Great read!

Roman … oh … Roman. How this man stole my heart! He’s a nice and sweet guy to the ones close to him. To others, he’s distant, keeping them at arm’s length away. His past holds secrets that changed him into the hurt and untrusting man he is. He’s kept them hidden for years, until one night he realizes that someone knows how his scars came to be. The question is … who?

Your mind will flip and flop and flip back to who is stalking Roman. You, yourself won’t know who to trust or hate. Danielle Allen does an outstanding job in this suspenseful romance novel. One-click you’ll love it!

What else can I say other than I held my breath from beginning to end. As much as Ro annoyed me I also fell in love with him and experienced his pain. The author does such a great job of drawing you in and allowing you to experience the same emotions as the characters. Not only does reading this book make you a fan of the series but it also makes me want to read more books by Ms. Allen. She will definitely be making it on my to be read list from now on. Will be looking for her past releases and some of her new releases.

Received this as an ARC from the author. First time reading this author and will read more. I was into this book from the first few pages. Roman Harper was a very complex character. One minute I loved him and the next, I hated him. Instead of facing his problems, he ran away. He was dealing with demons from his past. "B" his love interest, was a very strong woman. This was a well-written story of love and suspense. I hated for it to end. Great job Danielle.

Sexy Roman Harper, an artist and a teacher. Yes, sexy, intelligent and talented oh and did I mention athletic?

So, why is this man still single? Well, because he has a huge burden on his shoulders. He is walking this beautiful world with a guilt so large its become a barrier in his life. He can't seem to move past the issues that took place in his life eight years ago. He's a prisoner of his past. This actually doesn't help his personal life but helps him thrive in his professional life. He's well on his way to making his mark in the art world.

This book has a very interesting little twist going on. I kid you not you will bust out your sexy detective outfit while you read. Can you say... STALKER?
Yes, our hot artist has an art show his friends have a celebration for him and then the fun begins! A creeper leaves him a note on his bathroom mirror but it doesn't stop there. The messages get creepier and who is it that is leaving him these messages.

While all this is going on he has women throwing themselves at him. He's not interested, he has eyes for one woman. A woman that has become his best friend and has become one of the closest people in his life. The thing about his friendship with Bianca is that he has only known her for three years. She has no clue about his past, about the burden he carries, his guilt. Should he tell her? will she understand his past? Will she run and not look back?

Bianca has feelings for Roman that she has been fighting for a long time. Feelings that she struggles from hiding. She hides them well but that sexual tension is there. Does he feel the same? But no time to think of feelings, he has a stalker and she wants to help find out who it is. He is on the rise in the art world, people are starting to notice him. He doesn't need negative attention and she wants to help him. She knows he's hiding something, but what? Will he ever trust her enough to tell her?

Roman finds ways of pushing Bianca away, he feels that due to his past he isn't worthy of love. But until he accepts the events that have already happened. Events that he can't change he will never let himself love and feel loved.

I had to keep reading because I needed to know who this crazy woman was, hell I needed to know what drove a woman to stalk a man. Well we get our answer and wow do we solve the mystery. Roman is shocked to find out who it is. But while he's out solving this mystery what happens to Bianca? Hmm.. Will our two sexually charged friends hook up?

I always enjoy Danielle's books. I'm always excited to see when she has something out that is new because I know she will get my attention and she did this time. Can't wait to see what she gives us next.

Reviewed at Lost In A Book

Chapter 1, Paragraph 2, I read this sentence:

"As soon as I opened the door, the cold Virginia air stopped me in my tracks."

And I was all

Because dammit, I CANNOT resist a story set in MY state.

Once I came down from that high and really started reading the story I realized that it wouldn't have mattered if the story was set on Mars. It still would have been amazing.

I have a love/hate relationship with Roman. I mean, on the one hand, I want to tie him up and have my way with him, but on the other, I want to slap him around and wring his neck. He really, really needed a kick in the ass and it may have taken a really long time, but he finally got it.

You'll go back and forth in your mind a million times trying to figure it out and when you finally think you really know, you're wrong.

There is so much sexual frustration and tension throughout this book. From the very beginning, there's a thick blanket of "Oh Gawd! I need it now!" that carries throughout the first 75% or so of the book. And when it finally happens, OMG! All of that tension and frustration makes it so much better. I was all like

Seriously, best book sex EVAH! So much relief when the deed was finally done. I had to take a little break and have a smoke.

Then Roman broke my heart into a million tiny pieces. I was thinking, he must be masochistic, and by the end of the book I was thinking I might be masochistic. I was in tears at the end and I am NOT a cryer. I am so glad it ended the way it did. I had my doubts and thought I would be left with a broken heart at the end. I was prepared for that. I had actually planned for that. So glad I didn't need those plans.

I've read other books by Danielle Allen, and those were good, but this one... this one had a totally different vibe and hit me in a totally different way. Heartache has blown me away.

Heartache has one hell of an intriguing blurb. It’s just long enough to make you salivate, meaty enough to make you consider the possibilities until it drives you insane, and vague enough that it doesn’t give anything away. The book itself was much the same.

Roman Harper is an up-and-coming artist, with a string of broken hearts behind him. He’s not intentionally hurting these women – after all, he’s upfront about his intentions, and having had his own heart broken once is enough to turn him off relationships and love.

When the biggest night of his career ends in a morning after that’s confusing, mysterious and a little creepy, he’s left wondering what could have happened…and if his past has come back to haunt him.

Roman….Roman Harper, what can I say? I wanted to fall in love with him so badly, but I just couldn’t quite get there. I liked him; I found his inner monologue interesting and insightful, if a little messed up, repetitive and needlessly martyr-ish at times, but I found it hard to find a connection with him in the first part of the book. I am little ashamed to say that I thought, more than once, about skipping ahead to find out what happened because I was getting a little worn out by his constant hedging. However, the last 20% of the book changed my mind about him somewhat…

Did Roman become irresistible to me? No. But he did become redeemable, and far more real, intriguing and likeable, which is extremely important to me as a reader. And while I struggled a little through the beginning of Heartache, there was plenty happening that kept me turning the page.

The mystery that makes up this story was a good one. I liked the element of the unknown, and I found it to be a clever ruse, with a quick but satisfying conclusion. I enjoyed Roman’s relationships also, particularly with his girl. I would have loved to get inside her head some, although perhaps that wouldn’t have worked for the overarching story. And I thought the ending was excellent. I loved that final 20%, as Danielle Allen wrapped up her story in a way that surprised and pleased me. It didn’t, thankfully, play out like I was expecting, and that’s not something that can be said about all books.

Yes, much like it’s blurb and its male lead, Heartache was smart, interesting and unique. ~ Beth, 3.5 stars

I was given an ARC book for an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.

CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS

This book hooked me from the first chapter. I thoroughly enjoyed the story-line. I did not expect so much detailed sex in the book. That is one thing that I could forgo in a book. When i am prepared for that in a book I know to skip, however it seemed that in this book that is what a lot of the men thought about. I know that men think a lot about it, however they do think about other things.

Ro (Roman) we meet and see the book through his eyes. This was a new concept for me and I would have liked to have seen it though the female lead's eyes. So Ro was a professor and met B (Bianca) as a teaching assistant. He was being polite and said he would keep in touch while she went to Italy for her studies.

Ro then pursued his career as an artist more and it took off. Not going to tell you how because that would really ruin the book. B and Ro kept in touch more and more and throughout the distance they gave each other advice and grew in their friendship. They had an understanding that one topic was off limits. Family. Once B gets back to the states and back to Virginia, somethings that are meant to stay secret for both come out in ways that are explosive in nature.

You meet their friends along their journey and see if they are meant to stay friends or if there is more between them than just friendship. What will happen when all secrets are out in the open? Who runs first? Is it a flight or fight reaction like most people have?

Like I stated before Ro and his buddies talk a lot about sex and do a lot of it. The book even has him masturbating in the shower..NOT FOR ME. However, if I had been warned I simply could have skipped over these parts and stuck to the story-line. I really did like the artistic story line. I loved how when he was upset he threw himself into his art, true to an artist. So much detail in this book about the art and curator business that Ms. Danielle Allen has done her research very well! I do look forward to reading the second book. I hope she continues B and Ro's story because the ending left it open for so many more possibilities!

I'm a huge fan of Danielle Allen's work. I can't begin to tell you how amazing the characters and stories she writes are. And Heartache is another awesome read.

Roman Harper is probably one of the most complexed character that I've read in a while. He is a man who live a solitary life. He know what he wants, especially from woman he's sexually involved with. If they start to develop any real feelings for him, he is out. No harm, no foul, at least on his end. He only have a hand-full of friends and they don't know much about his past. He keeps everyone at arms distance, not allowing anyone to get close. All of his emotions are laid out through his art. With one cryptic message that is left on his bedroom mirror, his life is turned upside down. With that one message, he now have to face his past, deal with a friend becoming more while dealing with a potential stalker.

Danielle have a way of writing characters that you become emotionally evolved with. This story is captivating and you become engrossed. It what I love most about her writing.

Heartache is a change from what I've read from Danielle previously. We are thrown into a mystery, a whounit, where we are on a thrown into a tailspin of who can it be but also we get to find out more about Roman. Who he is, what make him such a loner and why he feels the need to be alone when so many people want to be a part of his life. While reading Heartache there were times that I wanted to give Roman a big hug and there were times when I wanted to shake the ever loving crap out of his. Every pain, frustration, agony and guilt he feels, he manifest it as all his own and no one can help him move on from it. In the end, he is able to open up, learn from the past and potentially open up to love. The only thing that was a bit much was the internal dialogue of Roman. It was great to know what he was thinking, especially with his interaction with Bianca but sometimes it felt a bit overdone. All in all, it was a fantastic read.

Danielle Allen is one of my most favorite authors. She can hold your heart in the palm of her hands and just drag you along behind her on your knees.. Smh She just knows.... On to my character review...

Roman is an amazing male character that you will fall for from the start with is passion in his art and friendship. Roman has been through so much heartache throughout his life and still was successful. That shows you that you can do anything!! I really fell for Roman when he was struggling to figure out his feelings for Bianca and the compassion he has for others. That being said he was straight forward also and didn't put up with just anyone's BS. This man is worthy of true happiness but finding it is the key.

Romans friends Malik and Brad are just funny throughout this whole book. You just can't help but to giggle at their antics and goofiness.

Bianca was Romans assistant and as their work relationship came to an end they found a friendship blossoming. So they went with it and continued to keep in touch through the year following. Bianca is such an awesome and beautiful character in this story. I truly thought she was so sweet yet feisty.. Bianca is such a great friend to Roman and although they are fighting to save their friendship things stay a bit rocky throughout the book. Bianca has been through her own hurt that she has trust issues that keep her at arms length from everyone. Can she set that aside to be happy??

Danielle wrote this book in Romans POV and that was just cool for her to jump on for a fairly new author. Every book that Danielle has written so far she has captured my heart and wrapped it in bubble wrap. She can really keep you interested, keep your heart pumping with suspense, and making you just fall in love all over again. Tears in your eyes and an ache in your heart, that's what you are left with... This author will never get any less than five blue and black stars from me....

5 Captivating Stars!

Loved it....

I didn't really know what to expect when I began reading the book, the blurb left me intriguid and got me thinking, as soon I started with it I was hooked and felt so overwhelmed, had so many emotions reading it... Anguish, sorrow, despair, happiness, amusement... Aahhh didn't know what to feel.

I loved Roman, hot, artist, possessive, alpha... Just my kind of guy. But there were sometimes when all I wanted to do was slap him and call him an asshole, aahhh seriously, but then it all came crashing down and I understood why he acted that way.

Never ever I would have guessed why Roman was so troubled, I felt so sorry for him and my heart ache, he felt so much guilt and regret.

Bianca was sooo funny, I adored her, perfect match for our guy. Loved their crazy banters and innuendos. Had me cracking and feeling HOT!

I really enjoyed reading his POV, its amazing how guys think and listen to their feelings, I guess it's not just women who have their inner voice telling them right from wrong hehehe....

And the STALKER omg... There were so many hahaha... What I enjoyed was that it had me guessing and then doubting myself if it was her or not, then I guessed, but I was wrong *rolling eyes*, loved the mystery and why she was obsessed in the first place.

I seriously need an epilogue, so I'm dying for the book to be released and so I can read the bonus scene.

A Must Read

Fav Quotes:

“I didn’t want to kiss you, I needed to kiss you,”

" you are and have been for a while, the single most important person in my life.”

Roman ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you Danielle Allen for my ARC and praises for your amazing writing! Maybe in a future we could get Easy and Malik's story?! Pretty pleaes :D

3.5-4 stars. Roman Harper is a successful and talented artist. His work is gaining him a bit of fame and recognition, which is every artist's dream come true so life is good...only professionally, that is. Outside of Roman's career, he is a closed up clam. Some heavy things went down in his past 8 years ago and as a result, Roman doesn't let people in, particularly women. However, that doesn't stop other females from trying to break past his wall.

In the meantime, Roman starts receiving anonymous messages that are less than innocent in nature, making him wary about his private life and all the details that he purposely keeps hidden. But as this person continues to infiltrate his past and present, Roman has to decide if enough is enough and that regardless of his feelings, he needs to protect those who are at risk and to discover who is behind this once and for all.

I liked Roman, but he seriously gave me whiplash with his back and forth. This entire book is in his POV so it's a front row seat to all of the issues that weigh him down and prevent him from truly opening up. He has people around him who try to reason with him or knock sense into him but Roman can be stubborn and tight-lipped when he wants to. As for the actual reasons why he is so distrustful and unwilling to open up, I could empathize with him on that, it would change a person for sure. The stalker scenario was interesting, I liked the mystery behind it. As for Roman's confrontation that he is better of with love in his life rather than warding it off at all costs, that felt slightly anticlimactic because he didn't really have to do anything to prove himself.

Oh, Roman Harper!! What a man! It was definitely love at first word for me. A handsome and passionate artist and teacher, to the world he seems to be the perfect man but Roman has suffered so much heartache in his past that he finds it hard to really live a full life. He is also dealing with major guilt resulting from the events of his past and it makes him feel that he is undeserving of love. He lets every FWB know that his feelings will never be invested and so long as they do not begin to expect more, their 'relationship' will be allowed to continue.

Bianca was Roman's assistant while he was teaching and when their work relationship ended, a friendship developed. She is the only female that he has allowed close to him and throughout the book you can see them growing even closer. Regardless of that, there is still so much that Roman won't share of his life. He remains guarded and closed off.

The morning after a party celebrating his recent success Roman wakes up to a creepy, cryptic message written on his bathroom mirror. Then the emails start coming. At first he is intrigued by the messages and the game of cat & mouse being played. The messages become more creepy & start hinting about details from his past that only few know. This was a fun twist to the story.

Bianca and Roman work to not only figure out who is stalking Roman but as their relationship continues to grow and change from friends to something more, they will struggle with their feelings.

I give this book 5+ radiant stars!

*This book should be read by those who are 18 years old or older!*

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

This is the first book I have read from Danielle Allen and she has definitely gained a new fan! Danielle’s writing is phenomenal. I did not want to put the book down! The mix of romance and mystery was amazing! I have never read a book that could balance both aspects as wonderfully as Danielle did. This book captivated me!

Roman Harper…sigh…is HOT! He is artsy and has a rocking body…what else could you ask for? Roman has been through a lot in his life and is a very private person. He has a very small circle of friends. Roman comes across a very creepy situation towards the beginning of this book. The suspense will keep you constantly thinking about the mystery and you’ll want to try and figure out the mystery. Your emotions will go crazy with this one. Your heart will hurt at times. You will want to cry, scream, laugh, and smile. That’s exactly what a successful book does to the readers.

I don’t want to give too much away…you have to read it for yourself! Don’t miss out on this astonishing book! One-click away!
Bottom line – Read this book if…

…you love hot, artsy men.
…you like books that make you think.
…you enjoy suspense and romance all in one.
…trust me, you should just read it!

This is a story that will leave you wanting more. You are going to fall in love with Roman!! But there may be a time or two you wish you could jump into the book and knock some sense into him.

Roman is happy with the way his life is going. He doesn't do relationships and he doesn't let people into his life easy!!! He can count his friends on one hand. So he focuses most of his time on his art and he is producing some of his best art right now. Everything with his art is going better than he imagined. He hasn't dealt with his past and that is preventing him from moving on. Can he let go of the past and move on? Or will he lose everything important in his life?

This is an amazing story. It is so different from anything else by Danielle Allen. That is what I love about her. You never know what type of story you will get until you read it. She has a way of holding you captive in the story. You don't want to put the book down. You devour it and then wish you could have read slower to savor the words written. This book takes you through loss, lies, betrayal, love and forgiveness. It will have you rooting that everything Roman wants comes true and that he doesn't let his past rule his future.

Okay, let me just start out with I LOVE Roman!!!! I so get why girls just drop their panties and Han over there hearts to him. I'm like that now and I only read about him! *sigh* if only I could live in a world were he really is!!

This story a you know from the synopsis is about him having a creepy stalker. Okay any stalker is creepy! But this one gave me chills with every message from the start. With every 'I know you better then anyone' message I wanted to go postal on this person (and Danielle!) For creeping my Roman out.

OH and then there's Bianca...... Romans 'friend'. No they are friends, but man can feel the sexual tension between them! I was yelling 'STOP BEEN A MUPPET ROMAN AND GET YOUR GIRL!' But as you can imagine it kept falling on deaf ears.....men right!?

This book has more twists and turns then a soap opera. Between Roman having a secret from his past, this stalker wanting to be the white on his rice and the one girl best friend he has feelings for but can't act on, the book will keep you HOOKED. And you will be infuriated(in a good way.....kinda) to know who the stalker is. And yes you will think it is EVERYONE! Danielle hides it well!

Here's hoping Danielles next book is out quick and keeps me just a HOOKED :)
