Set in future Austin, TX, the state forces the obedience of its population through a sophisticated drug. The Academics, the police force for the state, enforce order and ensure the drug is administered to the people. While most of the citizens are turned into drones, a token fighting force rebels against the state's military might.

Kara, a soldier of the resistance, is given the daunting task of turning her old friend Matt, a captured Academic, to her side. Orem, the resistance leader, must face his past and make the right choices for the resistance, even if it costs him dearly.

The ideologies of the state and the resistance cannot co-exist. One will triumph and the other will be extinguished. Can Kara and Orem prevail against the state?

Gattaca is in my top 5 favorite movies. It's an intellectual film that forces you to think and reconsider your opinions.

But sometimes I don't want to watch Gattaca. Sometimes I want to watch Independence Day. Or Jurassic Park. Or, GI Joe 2: Retaliation. There, I said it. I loved GI Joe 2. Sometimes you just want to sit back, turn on the TV, and watch explosions for 2 hours. And that's okay. Other times you want to watch Gattaca.

I write the Friday-night-action-movie-books that I want to read. I call them: Action-packed action books of action.

Thanks for checking them out.

Tom Wright lives in Austin, TX with his wife, Molly, and their daughters, Tara Dactyl and Meg Alodan, and dogs Bear and Thor.

Kara us a resistance fighter, fighting against the new government that says if you’re not a slave of the newest drug that allows people to be docile and slaved then you are a resistor and need to be destroyed. Kara is a not afraid to die but refuses to go any other manner than the resistance and has a deep resentment for the state. Anyone who took the mandatory drug would lose their freewill and would die from the effects of the drug sooner or later. She must fight and she must lose a lot to get where she is going, problem is that she is not even sure what the end result will be and if they can even save enough people from the drug to make it a realistic theory. Great read ages 14 and up.
