The Hunter's Code #18

The Hunter’s Code: Book 18: A Portal Progression Fantasy Series

So now I have some property in the arctic. Time to take down the Swarm? No, not just yet. First – shield from the rear. And by ‘rear’ I don’t mean my cozy little manor on the shore of the beautiful Baikal, but the entire Eastern Empire, which, it seems, is in for some interesting times.

The Empress says that Absolutes don’t just have rights, but also responsibilities. Well, well…

I guess I’ll join in with the fight yet again. Not just for the Empire, but for all of Humanity itself, which is dumb enough to fail to see the obvious.

Evil awakens, and Armageddon is closer than ever...

This book felt like a power fantasy as the MC behaved like a megalomaniac. I especially despised how he bragged towards the entire world just after almost being killed by a enemy twice in this book.

Once again it showed that the author's make up the plot as the series continues while ignoring key elements of their earlier books. This happened a lot regarding the emperor, the background of the diamond king, the later decision that all the given names of the Galaxius family start with an a (Peter Galaxius would disagree) and now the absolutely revolting, contradictive decision about the identity of the Russian emissary. Sadly, this makes the story very inconsistent in this regard!

🤨

An infuriating read so far. I am barely halfway through the book, and contradictions, inconsistencies, and so on abound.

The authors 'give themselves the lie' within a few sentences several times throughout the book. It's just unnecessarily poor writing in my opinion. Writing that at times had me wondering if it's on purpose... deranged, such, to annoy the reader.

Constantly pulling Elephants out of Top Hats to the detriment (destruction) of said hats is a very bad look, an awful modus operandi.

The overall quality dip is very obvious, even in the one series by the authors that usually manages better than the others. This goes for the story as a whole along with translation and editing.

The latter part of the book felt disjointed.. chronologically awkward especially the last chapter and ending. Chucky Jr. scene is like.. like just wtf!?

I received a review copy of this book.

the Hunter's Code
book 18 is a nice addition to the series. As always, the main character runs into more enemies who don't phase him one bit, reduces populations of those plotting against him/his country, and even gets recognized by the empress as a solid piece of his country's defense. Much to the shagrin of lots of unknown enemies. It's all very amusing, and as of course, makes for some excellent reading. Life still happens, and now with the new addition to the family, it should be interesting to see what happens next, something we'll have to wait for the next book in the series to find out. Looking forward to it.

This was kind of all over the place. In a good way

Finally the Empress stepped up going to war. I hope in the next book we get some more rifts I like rifts. Even though I know a lots going on politically and all that

Lost 2 stars for NOT writing a Recap.

I think every reader needs to start doing this to force authors to write a quick Recap chapter, which readers can skip if they remember, and those who don't won't stop reading the series.

good addition to story line

Another good addition to this story line. Introduces some additional scenarios and future plots. Easy quick read looking forward to the next book.
