*Highlander of Ice is a steamy Scottish historical romance novel of 80,000 words (around 400 pages) written by Eloise Madigan and published by Cobalt Fairy.
No cheating, no cliffhangers, lots of steam and a happy ending.
This was a great story of two people that after years apart have to learn about each other and their relationship. Kristen and Neil were married and Neil immediately left to find his brother that had been captured by another clan. He is captured and tortured for five years before breaking free. Returns home to find that Kristen had been running the clan well in his absence. She also has two children that he didn't know about. They find that there had been treachery that caused a lot of problems for them and there people. Great story!
The story was a struggle to read. What person is tortured for 5 years and still is able to single handed not only escape but kill all his guards. The hero has PTSD but continues have little scarring, a strong body that is able to defeat all of his soldiers. Reality wasn’t a big factor in the story. Wounds never festered, the heroine always knew just what to do, the children were nearly perfect and the dog was a marvel.
A great read with much tragedy and heartache. I certainly recommend this book as the storyline is different and captivating. Kristen is a strong female character soft spoken and strong. As the Lady of the Clan she is a force to be reckoned with and respected.mist read to find out how Neil and Kristen overcome their hardships!
I was drawn into Neil and Kristen’s struggle to rebuild after five years of torment. Kristen’s quiet strength and Neil’s haunted past made their journey raw and real, with tender moments from the children and dog balancing the heartache. The ending surprised me, and I loved every twist—an unforgettable story of love and resilience.
A beautifully written book. About the ups and downs some people have to face even in this day and age. The characters were awesome and I didn't even realize who was behind it all or even why! The story was of brave people trying to be as brave as they could be. Thanks for sharing your story.
the author weaves, I can only call it, a spell but it's more like a miasma, a fabric that holds you. Dialogue so replete with innuendo, each word carrying far more weight and meaning then I'm used to in a tale of this genre. She sustains it throughout the book. And after some initial resistance on my part I came to love it. Bravo
A bad upbringing does not have to determine one's future.
This is an exciting but rather brutal tale that keeps the reader involved and wondering what comes next. The ending is a surprise which is not to be missed.
Courage, discipline, and strength, give this story an unforgettable life lesson that could show he power of a woman's softer side. Eloise Madigan brought you a extremely powerful story you won't want to miss.
Eloise Madigan writes the best Highland stories. "Highlander of Ice" was not what I expected, it was so much better. A broken Laird returns home to a wife he did not want. However she wanted him and the end result will be captivating.
After five years of he'll Laird Neil and Kristen don't know how to live together. What demons he has are hard to overcome and Kristen has to keep it all together. What happens at the end was not expected but made for a great story
Without giving anything away, the many characters are well developed, interesting, obstanate and strong. The story line is long and sometimes I wondered if this couple could ever make it. I read in 2 days so I couldn’t put it down for long.
Wow, what a story! It has some really good twists. Kristen was a strong woman to hold the clan together while he was gone. He had a lot to learn about himself and change what his father taught him.
