"What makes life worth living? Donna Apidone shares the journeys of 11 people who asked that question. They all moved beyond their limitations, felt inspiration and found purpose. Their stories are very different, but they have one thing in common: TransForMission.
Follow the five steps of the TransForMission Path and find your own inspiration and purpose.
This isn’t a how-to. It’s a will-do and a how-did-you?"
People know they can count on Donna Apidone. She is a popular public radio host and respected interviewer. In news programs, and as a guide to classical and roots music, she has built a reputation for being truthful, reliable and funny. In the last 10 years, Donna has led workshops and private sessions on the TransForMission Path. She lives in northern California.
I have read this book twice. I also was a participant in a workshop during a rough patch. I think Donna's approach toward a healthy TransForMission is a perfect roadmap to this goal! I appreciated her step by step outline that includes self inquiry, reflection, connection to Spirit and an honest attention to "How One Drives on the Road of Life!" My take away this time : I am here to be Mindful, Explorative, Kind to Self, Accepting of challenges; Willing to step outside my comfort zone and to always start at my Heart...or at least end there! I loved her desert metaphors and real life experiences. Thank you to the interviewees as well for all your beautiful heartfelt testimonies. I haven't had really big mindful transformations but I have a sneaking suspicion I'm about ready to experience one! Thank You!
I read TransForMission in one sitting... couldn't put it down. In several of the stories, I found inspiration and validation for transformative times in my life. There is one question that Heather Estay asked of herself, "Who am I if I am not a mother?", which I have carried away from this book and used several times. I ask myself, as I experience life changing times... "Who am I if I'm not... a business owner... a life partner... an artist...?" When life changing events happen, and I'm thinking what's next, I sit with this question and, using the steps in this book, I realize that I am fine just being me. I highly recommend anyone to sit with the stories and truths in this book.
Reading this book takes you on a journey of self-realization. The book guides, encourages and instructs by asking questions and offering real life examples. My favorite parts of the book are the segments from the author’s own journey. I could feel the clarity jump off the page.
Listening for answers from the big questions the book asks isn’t easy, but that’s the journey. I was able to drill down, and discover wonderful insights. Transformission is an ongoing process and I’m grateful to have this book as a map.
I like how this book brings the reader gently, step by step, to an authentic way of being. I also like the perspectives from people from all walks of life, demonstrating how this book is relatable to everyone. I recommend this book to everyone!
I did not enjoy reading this the handful of things that inspired thought in me were not enough to cause me to look past the fact that this was a lecture in a book. Let go and just say yes I don't honestly believe is very practical, you can not say yes to everything in life that isn't freedom that is being a slave to always saying yes. Some of the points are good and I probably would be more receptive to them if I didn't feel as though I was simply being lectured. The quotes from people I felt didn't always give a full picture it was choppy and short, not a lot of context, for quotes later in the book to make sense you has to remember the quotes from earlier in the book and who said them. I would not recommend this book. If I had not won this book in a giveaway I would not have read it.
