After almost successfully transitioning an angry spirit to the other side, Eddie’s got a new member of the ghost crew at her antique store and more problems. Her almost sister is still in town with her best friend, a fellow fortune teller from California. And someone is killing mediums with real power. And everyone Eddie cares about is on that list.
Now that a second member of their craft has been killed and another kidnapped, Eddie is on the case to make sure the killer is found and arrested.
This needs to happen soon, before the longest engagement in history ends, not with a wedding, but with a funeral.

So many errors!

It's a great story in a great series, but there were so many errors! Words substituted, like mystic instead of mystique, shutter instead of shudder, and a half dozen more. I love Ms. Cahoon's books, but someone needs to do a better job of proofreading. Plus, the ending was a bit of a cliffhanger.

The Haunted Life Cozy Mysteries are such a fun series. This is book 6, which continues the situation that rose in book 5. Both books end without resolution. The Medium Specialist does bring answers to a few of the puzzles, but all those with paranormal talents are still in danger from a well disguised enemy.
I enjoyed the presence of Esmerelda, Nic’s love. She is a side character in the author’s Tourist Trap mystery series.
Eddie is more deeply involved in the paranormal world than she ever has been, and the energy drain is steep.
The author’s imagination has brought the reader another great read, and visiting New Orleans is never a hardship.
I took away one star because in some places the book felt scattered, and I struggled to keep up with some of the subject changes that occurred. As it is novella length, some details are probably glossed over to reserve space for progression within the storyline. This is a series that you need to read in order as each book builds on the previous.
I received an advanced reader ebook for review. All opinions are my own.

Eddie has a new member of the ghost crew at her store after the ceremony to allow the spirit to pass on didn't go as planned. She also seems to have a lot more problems lately. Esmeralda, her almost sister, is still in town along with her friend, Rory, another fortune teller, who are visiting from California. And now there mediums with real power being killed while yet another has been kidnapped. Eddie is on the case. She wants the killer caught. Soon.

This has been one of my favorite paranormal cozy mystery series and this book's a prime example of just why these are so good. The book was well-written with well-rounded characters who are believable and identifiable while the plot was fast-paced and gripping. I was drawn into this spellbinding story and kept hooked from start to finish. The mystery was intriguing with lots of twists and turns and red herrings along the way. I loved the sense of community, family, and friendship plus the connection between the main characters. Of course, the ghosts are always enchanting and interesting characters too. I'm always thrilled to read stories with psychics and their gifts. Lynn Cahoon does it well. I absolutely enjoyed this book and am totally looking forward to the next one. I highly recommend both book and series.

I love spending time in New Orleans with Eddie and the gang. There is a lot going on with mediums being killed, relationships developing and growing. Lots of twists and turns and clues sprinkled throughout the pages. You will be left guessing until the end. I love the setting in New Orleans, the characters with “special gifts,” and the ghosts who manage to insert themselves in Eddie’s life. This is a great series with quick to read books. Perfect for a nice quiet afternoon to curl up with a tasty treat and time in the pages.

Eddie's still running

We get to spend more time with Eddie, Bubba, and Lilac! We even have friends visiting from South Cove. Unfortunately, Eddie, Nic, and their security team are trying to find out who is killing all the Mediums that work for the family business. When they find that the past, including their parents murder, and the present, someone trying to kidnap Eddie is still way too unstable that they will have to work to find more answers! #AMediumSpecialist #The HauntedLifeCozyMysterySeries #LynnCahoon ##bookreview #bookideas #retiredreader

This is the sixth in the Haunted Life Cozy Mystery series. I enjoyed Esmerelda and Rory’s visit from South Cove, California.

Author Lynn Cahoon always provides an entertaining story. It is well-written. My only regret is that it is too short.

We haven’t solved the over arching question of who is doing this and why but I feel we are getting closer.

I look forward to my next trip to visit Eddie and her extended family. Bookfunnel gave me an advanced copy and these are my own opinions.
