Claimed in Silence: MM Dark Mafia Romance

Rate this book
I’ve spent six months embedding myself in the Ivanov Bratva. I wear their clothes, drink their vodka, and do their dirty work. I thought I was the perfect liar.

I was wrong.

Kirill Ivanov, the family’s ruthless Pakhan, knew I was a fed from day one. He didn't put a bullet in my head. He put me in his bed.

Now I’m trapped in a deadly game of chicken. He’s feeding me intel to take down his rivals, and I’m giving him my body to keep my cover. I tell myself I’m playing him.

But when he looks at me with those cold, knowing eyes, I realize the terrifying truth.

I’m not the one holding the leash.

“Tomorrow,” he said after a comfortable silence, “you do what needs to be done. And then you come back to me.”
“Always,” I promised, the word both vow and truth.

^ 82% (kindle version has versions not pages).

I accidentally found this book on kindle and saw that it's basically got no reviews on anything. I even had to manually add it to storygraph and fable because it didn't exist. Goodreads had no reviews but 6 ratings as well.

This book was good but I'm not going to lie and say I was expecting it to be a little better.

From reading the blurb, I assumed we'd see Raymond undercover for a bit. Instead, 6% still in chapter 1 and it's the first time he's meeting Kirill in person and Kirill calls him by his full name rather than his undercover name. I mean I get that he said he's been undercover for 6 months at that point but maybe could've drawn it out a little longer? Instead it's "let me fuck you or kill you". Anyway, chapter 12 skipped 6 months? I was like "oh okay right uh gotta remember that" because other than Burton sending another offer to Raymond, nothing felt like it had changed at first.

One potential mistake I noticed? Chapter 10 Kirill is talking to multiple people in the mafia (or at least Viktor and Raymond). He calls Raymond by his actual name in front of him rather than by his undercover name (Alexei). I thought he was keeping it a secret? I thought no one was supposed to know?

Overall, if this wasn't a novella I'd expect a lot more from this. But as this was a novella I'll give it a benefit of the doubt and be nice about it. It wasn't bad just needed some better pacing maybe? Especially because Raymond decides to belong to Kirill after Kirill told him to get on his knees twice.
