There is a sensation I get in my body whenever I’m faced with an unexpected but important conversation; a trembling in my inner arms and under my breastbone. That is the feeling I had while reading this book. I read it slowly, which is atypical for me when I’m enjoying a book, because I didn’t want it to end. I can’t quite put my finger on the reason this book had such a visceral effect on me, perhaps it was the beautiful sentences, the connection with the natural world, or Jayber’s profound arc towards love. Whatever it was, this book has changed me and I’m mourning its completion.
Poetic and slightly monotonous, but gripping all the same. Probably would not recommend this to someone, but I loved this book and it’s appreciation for beauty in all things
