In the quiet aftermath of bloodshed, the truth begins to stir.
Winter deepens in the San Juan Mountains, but for Ben and his family, the real storm is just beginning. When a routine response to smoke in the valley reveals the charred remains of a homestead—and a message meant for Ben—uneasy questions rise to the surface. Victor Slade is still out there. And he’s not alone.
As whispers of a possible alliance between two of the region’s most dangerous men reach Ben’s ears, the fragile peace at the family’s mountain refuge begins to crack. Joel and Allie struggle to hold onto their sense of right and wrong as Ben, once their steady guide, begins to slip further into the shadow of the man he’s hunting.
With loyalties tested and secrets buried deep, the fight for survival is no longer just about defending their home. It’s about exposing the truth before it’s too late for those still holding on in Durango.
Because if there’s ever going to be a future worth rebuilding, the people left behind deserve to know what they’re up against. And in a world this broken what comes next won’t wait for them to be ready.
Remnants, book 3 in the Durango Chronicles, the series following the genre defining post-EMP survival thriller series The Dark Road. Taking place immediately following Brad's recovery after being kidnapped by a local tyrant. The tyrant is still alive and working with both another warlord and a vicious motorcycle gang and buying loyalty with drugs. Joel and Allie's actions set up for book 4 to be as fast paced and excellent as the genre gets! The cliffhanger ending will leave the reader desperate for the next book, just like me! Overall 5/5 stars, highly recommended for fans of apocalyptic survival thrillers, particularly of the post-EMP and post-CME survival variety, but anyone who enjoys a good thriller will be enthralled with the book!
Remnants: The Durango Chronicles continues its post apocalyptic tension with a strong atmosphere of paranoia, survival, and emotional strain.
Bruno Miller balances action with the psychological toll of violence, especially through Ben’s gradual descent as the threat surrounding Durango grows darker and more personal.
The snowy mountain setting and simmering danger give the story a gritty, cinematic feel that keeps the stakes constantly rising.
Loved the book it continues the story of a well developed family that leaves you feeling for what they go through It gives a realistic idea what would happen after an EMP attack and the hardship
This story started off a little slow as Ben struggles with the man he is turning into, but when the action starts it is none stop. It is going to be hard waiting for the next book in the series to be released!
The characters are believable and likeable. I look forward to the next book. The saga continues. I hope that they finally find the peace that they are looking for.
The Remnants saga keeps getting better. Great characters and the storyline is very interesting and believable. Bruno Miller keeps getting better at this with each story!
