First, let's get rid of the unpleasant. I can't believe Ms Saintcrow -who has been in the business more than 10 years - could not publish something better edited. Starting from the cover where you find a different name and ending with many missing words in the text.
Nothing troubling, mind you, but she is still a very well published author. You really don't expect such mistakes, however minor.

The really good: plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. If you have loved her stronger, most difficult heroines, Smoke let you see the beginning of her mould.
It had for me that reckless feeling that causes me palpitations and a twin rage that I so loved in Dante.

It's not an easy book, nor an easy heroine. The first is at times bogged down by endless descriptions, the second is on a self destructive bend that is difficult to watch. I prefer that destruction going forward, I fear.
For her fan, a must read, even if you might end hating it.

This book looks really good but holy smokes(no pun intended) it is expensive! The e-book is only 10 bucks... but the hard back is right around 40! Thats about the same a Julia Child's book 'Mastering the Art of Frech Cooking,' so basically I could learn to become a culinary french master or I could read this spendy book....We'll see. Maybe after I get my school loans...

This one's kind of on the line between urban fantasy and paranormal romance. An interesting mythology and strong character voice, but (as spelled out on the blurb) the heroine is quite self-destructive which I found hard to read.

I wasn't really a fan of this book. The FMC was in a really depressing spiral of self-destruction and it was painful to read. The ending was also just a touch short of satisfying.

This book took a while to really wedge it's way into my "like" catagory. It took some time to get used to the way this writter chose to express the book. I'm used to a different style from Lilith Saintcrow (Anna Beguine is a pen-name). All-in-all, this was a decent book.
