Owen and Gina were temporarily roommates, because he has just been traded to a new hockey team there. Meanwhile, Owen was trying to find the proper home for his daughter, sister and his dog. The last thing in his mind was to fall for Gina. But both of them had some crazy dogs, which apparently were always throwing them in each other's arms 🤭. Could that be faith?
This was such a lovely and super fun book! Gina was such a huge lover of dogs, being a dog groomer and a judge in championships which included them. This element brought those fun vibes to this story, because those dogs were such a menace, always doing something funny. Owen was in a pretty tough spot, being caught up between his responsibilities and that crazy attraction he felt for Gina. Not even his family was imune to Gina's charms, his daughter and sister instantly loving her. His psychic sister also predicted that a girl with a dog would steal Owens minds, but could that be Gina?
Honestly, this has been the perfect read for a relaxing day. It was fun, with no drama and no third act breakup. The perfect choice for when you need to take a break and just laugh a bit🤭.

And a good time was had by all …
Cage was the ultimate feel-good story with a few emotional “pockets” here and there but mostly a whole lot of flirty, sexy fun wrapped up in a huge package of heart! The laugh out loud moments were abundant with this story which made its cuteness factor go thru the roof.
If it’s one thing I have learned about Tia Louise and her writing is that you can always expect a realistic fictional journey that doesn’t focus on life’s “dark” moments but rather it’s “light” moments. She doesn’t throw in conflict just for dramatics, she writes positive and uplifting stories that make you smile from beginning to end. I cannot tell you how happy it makes me just knowing there will not be a last minute “conflict” thrown in one of her stories. That alone is worth a #oneclick!
Anywho, once again, I loved a story penned by Tia and I especially love the 2.0 and series connections that she is incorporating in this series!

Owen also owns a dog. And this dog LOVES Gina's dog. Theyre two peas. Their owners... while its a definite instant attraction, both are carrying some baggage. Owen is a widower whos shut out the possibility of a relationship and Gina's been burned too many times.
But these two are suffering from forced proximity. And some cousins/teammates who want these two together. Everyone knows it. Even Owen's psychic sister predicted it. Can Owen? He carries his loss with him and for a long time too.
The book is extremely funny. I came into this not having read book 1 and its really easy to follow. Give it a try, like we want Owen to try!

This was such a cute, feel good, sometimes emotional read that just made my heart so happy. If you love single dad, dogs, and a lovable friend group, this one will make your heart happy!!

Reading Cage is like Miss Tia Louise said,”How about I emotionally wreck you a little bit?” and I said “okay, and I’ll love it.”
Cage is a broody, closed off, and clearly allergic to feelings which makes him peak book boyfriend material. Duh. This man is walking emotional damage, and watching him fight his feelings while clearly down bad was my personal entertainment. Gina deserved a gold medal (or hazard pay) for her patience because I would’ve snapped way sooner.
The emotional depth of both Cage and Gina, he’ll even Maddie, surprised me in the best way, and the romance felt earned instead of rushed, which I always appreciate.
If you enjoy wounded heroes, soft moments hidden under layers of grump, and muttering “sir, be serious” at your book, Cage will happily lock you in.

First let me just say that when I started reading this, I was kind of confused that the main character was not called Cage.🤣
While this has tropes I know and love, the job of the FMC was a new read for me. She was a scientist, but judged dog shows, groomed dogs, helped the local shelter, and more. It was unique. I loved Gina's personality and my heart hurt for her. She was such a good person but guys always seemed to treat her horrible.
Owen was a widowed single dad, new to the Champions NHL team, and moving in with Maverick and Gina. While this yummy MMC fought the chemistry with Gigi trying to be a good dad and focus on the new team, we get to see his protective and jealous side come out. I love a good guy, but watching him come to terms with his feelings made me want to shake the man. Come on Owen! Your dogs love each other, your friends get along, your families just blend, she's great with Maddie, and you guys are delightful together.

If you’ve read any of my reviews about any books that Tia has written, you will know that I read about being blown away by her words in the world she creates within her books. What blew me away this time was the combination of 2 of her worlds coming together in one book! Owen is the oldest son of Britt and Aiden Stone from her 4 book series based in Eureka that starts with A Little Taste!! And Gigi is the daughter of Garret Bradford and Liv from the Bradford Boys series! Owen and Gigi come together in this new Bradford Series and the crossover is seamless! I can’t shout loud enough how much I loved this book! Owen is a widower and there are so many huge feels in this book because of his loss, but he also has a young daughter and is thoughtful of her feelings in the matter of his relationship with Gigi. This book has everything! I really don’t know how she keeps topping the previous books/series, but somehow she manages to!! I give this book a 10/10 even though I can only give it 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

i fear i have to say this book did not work for me. i’m honestly very disappointed at how truly dissatisfied i am with this story, considering how immediately excited i was once i learned about it. single dad? widower? roommates? SIGN ME UPPPPPP! however, the actual book did not live to my expectations.
the fast burn and miscommunication in this one almost drove me to insanity. and i have to say, i’m one of those that’s very “lenient” with miscommunication in romances, because i do feel like people tend to overdo when complaining about it, since it’s very common in real life and i do understand it’s the result of a bunch of insecurities and such. with that said, i feel like we had more than a couple scenes that their conflict felt silly, because of how stupid the miscommunication was, in a way that didn’t make me empathize with any of it. and the fast burn didn’t help at all… i felt like the pacing was so weird and i didn’t buy into their romance.
because of that, the whole “it’s always been you” quote felt shallow to me. more like a box to check and say, hey this book has this microtrope! because why are you saying it’s always been the person you met five months ago?
all in all, this wasn’t a story that i really connected to. however, there were still some elements that i enjoyed, like owen and maddie’s dynamic, which as a sucker for a single dad trope, i always appreciate. i also always have such a fun time with mav, gav, haddy and all the other cousins!
i’ll be for sure still reading the next one too! i know this one, particularly, wasn’t the book for me, but i’m still excited to tune in to other tia louise’s stories (bradford series i’m looking at you!)

Gina is a champion dog groomer and judge, and Owen is a professional hockey player for the L.A. Champions and is staying with Gina and her cousin while looking for a house for his sister and daughter.
Gina and Owen have a strong pull towards one another that I loved. I loved the relationship Gina built with Owen’s daughter, Maddie, who is a total sweetheart and wants to learn to show dogs like Gina.
I enjoyed the banter between Gina and Owen, but also between Gina and her cousins. They both have amazing supportive families that I love!
I loved that we got to see cameos of the characters from the Be Still series! I enjoyed that series so much and I loved that the author brought these two series together.

Cage by Tia Louise was such a quick, cute read. Roommates to lovers is already a win in my book, but the dogs fall in love before the humans?? Sold ✅
Our MMC is a hockey player, single dad, and widower just trying to figure out life one day at a time. His daughter stole my heart. wanting to to be a mini version of the FMC and living her best life at dog shows.

Im obsessed with this second generation group. Maddie was so cute and I loved her connection with GiGi. I couldn't remember the age gap between Owen and Gigi but honestly, it wasnt even a factor. Their connection was pure and happened without force. I loved them!

I really enjoyed Owen and Gina’s story. This was a really sweet, sexy and an emotional read. Owen didn’t think love a second time was possible until he saw Gina. Their chemistry is off the charts and Maddie is absolutely adorable. Definitely another great read in this series.

I adored all the different sides we got in this story! Working in the family similarities, what I’m assuming would be real life fears and thoughts when you are a widower. The closeness of the friends and family. This group truly always makes me happy. I love when woman find their voice & know their worth even when it’s the hardest thing they’ve ever done.
The full circle moments. The unwavering support. The various dog names 😂 it was a great read.

This is a beautiful story about losing a loved one and closing your heart off to a new beginning. Especially when you have a child involved. It was also nice to have all the past characters interact so much in this book too.

Gina's about to get a new roommie and their dogs are about to make a love match. She's grooming her poodle in hopes of perfecting Spanky's look before the national dog show, when in races Owen's bloodhound Ladybird and chaos ensues. Now that their dogs have bonded, will the new roommies bond, too? Or is Owen's broody going to be too much for Gina's walled off heart?
Owen's trying to find his way with a new team, a new place to live, and make sure his daughter Maddie gets the best of him. When he walks into what will be his temporary digs, his dog makes sure he knows this is where he's supposed to be - that Gina and Spanky are supposed to be their ones. If he can get past his own hangups and Gina's, they can become the unit his psychic sister predicted.
All Tia had to do is say dogs and I was all in on Cage. Spanky and Ladybird are the cutest pair of dogs, ever, but their humans are just as sweet as they fell in love, even while not admitting it, not even realizing it at first. I love that Gina's job is so out of the box - I mean a smart af dog groomer?! How could she not be the fabulous, big-hearted heroine she turned out to be. And then there's broody, hockey player single dad Owen...swoon! The way he is with his adorable daughter, and his doggo, and especially with Gina. My heart could not have fallen harder for him. Gina and Owen's families and friends are around for love, support, and the occasional meddling, and made me smile even bigger as they welcomed each of them into the fold. These Bradfords are some of Tia's best, now I'm waiting impatiently for cousin Maverick, and Dove's story, Flow.

It almost seems a crime that this series is called The New Bradfords because so far Tia has been pulling out fabulous second gens from across her other binge-worthy series and I am loving it!!!!
Owen Stone was an absolute scene stealer when he was just a boy following his dad around in A Little Taste and well...I guess not much has changed. 😏 Owen may have grown up, but he's now all swoony, 🥵 especially when he's in dad mode with his sweet daughter.😍 Cage is another fabulous book, with all the feels, big family get together's, that don't take away from the main characters, touching moments, lots of love, and of course the right dash of steam.
Owen is still that sweet little boy who always followed his dad, Aiden, around and loved zebras. I don’t know how the Stone family makes single dads so hot, but wow! Just drool-worthy, wow! Owen learned a lot about loving hard from growing up with his amazing family and I thank them for their service.❤️ With that being said, he's also one hot hockey player and a single dad with super high emotional walls. 🥹 So while Owen is allllll grown up and super swoony, he wasn't looking for anything while he settled into his new life in LA, but it just so happened that life doesn't always work out like you planned. Thankfully, his hound, Ladybird, had the hots for Gigi's dog and was way smarter than their owners. 😏
As for his daughter, Maddie, she is the cat's pajama's, or maybe I should say, the zebra's stripes. 😏 She adds the perfect sweetness to this entire story, which would seem impossible when there are dogs...seriously, there are so many amazing dogs, but then there is Maddie...who is so freakin adorable. 🫠 I mean could Tia just melt me more. Seriously, I was a constant pile of goo!! Maddie has her dad's zebra to add to this combination of cuteness!! Maddie is everything that is glittered butterflies, sparkly rainbows, and magical unicorns and I couldn't love her more!! 🥹😍💗
I don't want to say that Gigi rounded out the adorableness or the hotness factor, because she has her own inner light, but she is also put together. She brings calm and peace to this rowdy bunch, which is not often easy especially when her dad is the rowdiest one of his brothers. Gigi is also sweet, level headed, smart, she's the best of her mom and dad and those traits were a shiny bright beacon for Owen and Maddie. She's hard not to love., but did I expect anything less, not for a minute. She is exactly what those two need, in both of their lives, and they feel that draw instantly.
Now, don't even get me started on the meshing of two of my favorite series coming together. ❤️👌🥰 I mean, how many times can a girl squeal!?! Please...this story just kept getting better and better. And just when I thought this series was already amazingly good...the mention of Mavericks love interest hit. I mean...come on...that news just about sent me into a kicking and screaming-love-induced coma. 🥹😍💗 I'M SO EXCITED!!!!

Gigi is a dog show judge, dog groomer, and dog handler. She has always loved dogs, so she went to college to specialize in them. Her whole life revolves around various dog activities, including working with rescues and shelters to find foster homes for them.
Owen is a single dad to a lovely 7 year old daughter. He is a professional hockey player that was recently called up from the minor league team to play for the LA Champions. He has a bloodhound named Ladybird who loves to sing to Shania Twain.
When Owen is called up to LA, he needs a place to stay really quick. Mav offers him a room at the house he shares with Gigi. He did the same thing for Gavin last year, when he was traded to LA. No big deal, just another roommate for a short time.
Gigi is on a hiatus from men. The last man she dated ghosted her. She is still trying to figure out what is wrong with her that they do not want to stay with her. But Owen is tempting her end her hiatus.
Owen has not dated anyone since his daughter was born. He still carries guilt over what happened to his wife and he feels he should honor their vows and her memory. But Gigi is tempting him to resolve his internal debate and start living his life again.
These two are doing everything in their power not to fall for each other, but one broken down car plus a major freeway accident, leads to one night, one bed, in the "Bates" motel. They play it as a fantasy so that feelings are not involved and there are no repercussions. But are they fooling themselves?
Stolen glances turn in to stolen touches. But Owen is not ready to commit. He feels like he is betraying his wife with these feelings he has for Gigi.

Cage by author Tia Louise was a delightful read. Actually, anything about the Bradford family is delightful. Cage is the second book in Louise’s The New Bradfords series, spotlighting the next generation; the Bradford cousins are all grown up – mostly – and now living their best lives – again, mostly. Considering their parents, it’s no wonder that the women are brilliant and most of the men star athletes. All are warm, generous, fun-loving and family-oriented. And as likely to get in hilarious situations as their parents were at that age.
In Pinch, the first book in this series, Haddy found true love, started her own family (the next, next generation) and moved out. Leaving room in the house she and Mav and Gigi shared for new player single-dad widower Owen and his 7-year old daughter and his sister to move in temporarily while he house hunts. Not a big deal. Except the attraction between Owen and Gigi could become a very big deal. And a very big problem. Owen’s focus has to be on taking care of his daughter and succeeding at his career to do that. Plus, even though his wife has been gone for seven years he feels guilt at the very idea of moving on, of daring to fall in love again. As for Gigi, she’s been hurt and ghosted one too many times. She’ll stick with something reliable: dogs, dog training, dog shows. Two scared people with an irresistible pull between them. Hmm, how can that work out?
Cage was such a fun story. When I said hilarious, I wasn’t kidding. Their unplanned night in the Psycho Motel will have you rolling on the floor laughing. Like I said, hilarious. And hot, very, very, very hot. When their dogs fall in love you’ll laugh at their antics, and pat your heart at the sweetness of it all. When Owen’s sister does tarot card readings you’ll be hoping those predictions come true. And when Owen’s little girl doesn’t call Gigi “Auntie” like she does the other women because she has hopes for a different role for Gigi in the future you’ll know you’re done for. Author Louise, as always, keeps you laughing and crying and swooning and just having a wonderful time.

Tia Louise isn't playing around with this New Bradfords series- because just like Haddy and Gavin's book, Gina "Gigi" Bradford and Owen Stone are bringing together the second generation of two series and connecting worlds in all the best ways!
Cage is the second book in this new series and it's bringing together a ton of fabulous tropes including- single dad, professional hockey player, roommates to lovers, one bed-one night, forced proximity and of course all the meddling of family, friends and even their dogs! So much of this story had a perma-smile on my face- just like the OG Bradfords, I love the closeness that Gigi, Haddy and Maverick have. They're not only cousins but each others biggest supporters, sh*t stirrers and best friends. And just like his mama, Maverick loves to welcome others- mainly his teammates that need a friend- into their world, and well, could you blame Haddy or Gigi for falling for the pro-hockey players that look at them like they hung the moon?
Now I will give it to Owen- he actually started off with great intentions of not acting on his attraction toward Gigi because he's a single father and only interested in being there for his daughter. Similarly Gigi, is focused on her career and not giving a guy the opportunity to break her heart again. Only Lady Bird and Spanky seemed pretty keen on keeping these two bumping into each other in the most hilariously awkward and erotically charged ways. Tia definitely brought some lighthearted fun mixed with a lot of heart into this story and I was hooked in all the best ways.
I really loved that not only are we getting this budding attraction and relationship between Gigi and Owen but the way that Tia tied in so many little "easter eggs" from their parents books for people like me that have read and loved them all but also a little tease for someone new that might have to go back and check them out. I loved the Bradford bachelor night traditions and the mystical kind of nod to Owen's family.
Now I do slightly disagree that there is no third act break up here- because while technically I guess Owen and Gigi do not "break up" there definitely is the dreaded miscommunication and heartbreak followed by the need to grovel and pull out the grand gesture train so to me that felt like one. But as long as it all works out in the end I also don't mind it all that much 🤪 But mainly I am already dying to get my hands on the next book in this series because if it's about to be Maverick I CANNOT wait to see how that goofy sweet man falls!!

This book is a STEM FMC/Widowed-Single dad hockey romance with some rom-com feels.
The book had fleshed out characters whom we all very likeable. The story is cute, there is low angst, and a satisfying happy ending.
This story missed the mark for me and I admit rom-coms aren’t usually something I pick up. But for the sake of this review I’m not considering that toward my rating.
I liked the premise, a cynogist, dog show judge, groomer with a show poodle living with her NHL childhood friend falls for his teammate widowed, single dad with a family bloodhound who is devoted to his 7 y/o daughter. The dogs fall in love, the MC’s fall in love, the daughter loves everyone.
I did feel like the pacing of the story was a little slow and at times I wasn’t sure when anything was going to actually happen.
The actual relationship drama was kinda blown out of proportion in my opinion but that’s how it is with rom-coms.
There were a lot of characters in this story and I felt at times that the MC’s story didn’t shine as much as it should have. That said I loved the banter between everyone. It felt really genuine and not forced at all. Everyone really cares about each other and there was just enough meddling without it being cringy. Maddie the daughter was adorable and acted like a 7 y/o and wasn’t just a plot device for the relationship.
My favorite parts of this book were the full family banter that felt realistic, full of teasing love, and lots of emotional support. Also I love the bachelor party dancers. I also liked Owen’s Dads advice. Really solid there.

This book is a STEM FMC/Widowed-Single dad hockey romance with some rom-com feels.
The book had fleshed out characters whom we all very likeable. The story is cute, there is low angst, and a satisfying happy ending.
This story missed the mark for me and I admit rom-coms aren’t usually something I pick up. But for the sake of this review I’m not considering that toward my rating.
I liked the premise, a cynogist, dog show judge, groomer with a show poodle living with her NHL childhood friend falls for his teammate widowed, single dad with a family bloodhound who is devoted to his 7 y/o daughter. The dogs fall in love, the MC’s fall in love, the daughter loves everyone.

✯✯5 Owen & Gina Filled Stars!!!✯✯
Tia Louise has done it to me again!!! I’m such a HUGE fan of her and her books. There’s never been a new book of hers that I didn’t devour yet and this is NO different. If you’ve read her book A Little Taste and Garret Bradford’s book in the first Bradford Brothers Series then you’ll remember who the main characters are.
Owen Stone is the new guy on the Champions hockey team and it comes with a lot of baggage. He’s a widower, he’s got his psychic sister, is adorable daughter and his dogs. While fighting with the demons inside his head that he’s just trying to be the best father for his daughter. The last thing he was expecting to do was find somebody and fall in love. ESP after the death of his wife.
Gina Bradford is a championship dog groomer and trainer and she’s also a well-known judge on the AKC championship Circuit. She’s getting her dog ready for the next championship when her new roommate owes Stone and his dog barge into her house where they’ll be staying while they tries to find a place for him, his sister, his dog and his adorable daughter.
Gina hasn’t had good luck in dating so she has closed herself off for finding love. But she wasn’t expecting Owen to come into her life just like Owen wasn’t expecting Gina to come into his life. But seeing Gina and his daughter Maddy‘s relationship develop definitely made it hard for him to not look.
Both of them were very devoted to their families and their jobs and the last thing they knew one of them were wanting or looking for was a relationship. But, chemistry between these two was hot and spicy and very hard for either one of them to avoid or pretend like it wasn’t there.
I’m so in love with the story and the characters in this book that once I picked it up, I couldn’t put it down and then I was really sad when I finished reading it. But, that usually happens when I’m reading a book by Tia Louise.
I’m absolutely loving the series and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series because every book in the Bradford family gets better than the last even though I could not think that it’s possible but Tia does it to me every time.

I inhaled this book. Like, stayed-up-too-late, “just one more chapter,” emotionally attached levels of inhaled. Cage absolutely wrecked me in the softest, swooniest, dog-hair-covered way and I loved every second of it 🐶💖
Owen Stone??? BROODY SINGLE DAD HOCKEY PLAYER PERFECTION. Six-foot-two, exhausted, devoted father, quietly carrying the weight of the world while trying to give his daughter a stable home? I was done for immediately. He’s not flashy or cocky—he’s steady, protective, and so deeply good it hurts. The kind of man who shows up. Every time.
And Gina Bradford is such a refreshing FMC. Tall, confident, dog-obsessed, emotionally guarded, and absolutely not looking for love. Her entire life revolving around dogs (champion groomer! judge! towel-thieving poodle!) made me adore her instantly. She’s soft without being weak, kind without being naive, and her connection with Owen’s daughter melted my actual heart.
The DOGS though. The dogs were the real matchmakers here and I will hear no arguments. Fated-mate energy, leash-dragging destiny, chaotic good behavior forcing these two together? Obsessed. Add in roommates-to-lovers, forced proximity, one bed, “just once” lies we all know are lies, and I was GONE.
The romance felt so natural. No unnecessary drama, no third-act breakup (bless), just two hurt people carefully choosing each other while building a chosen family. The psychic sister, the charity calendar, the highway accident, the quiet domestic moments—every piece just layered the love deeper and deeper.
And the spice?? Whew. Perfectly balanced. Hot but emotional. Intimate without being over-the-top. The kind that makes you grin and clutch the book to your chest.

After their relationship growing pains, Gina and Owen were incredibly open and ready to give their all into a future life together. Though I did think Gina should have made Owen grovel a bit more after coming back, since he completely ghosted her for days. Also, I loved how Maddie immediately embraced Gina as her mother figure. I think they are going to have an incredible bond moving forward. The mushroom scene was pretty hilarious too. I’m just happy it caused some much needed clarity, instead of some bad potential repercussions. Tia again teased us with some future easter eggs, which I’m always excited for. Highly looking forward to reading Maverick’s story next, and how he manages another new roommate.

Cage by Tia Louise completely caught me off guard. This was my first book by the author and let me just say: I devoured it. Absolutely ate it up. If this is the energy of The New Bradfords series, I’m already running back for book one.
This story gives us Gina Bradford, a whirlwind FMC who lives her life at full speed. She’s ambitious, fiercely independent, obsessed with dogs (same), and juggling more roles than feels humanly possible; all while swearing she’s done with love. Gina is vibrant, funny, and guarded in a way that feels achingly real.
Enter Owen Stone: broody, emotionally reserved, six-foot-two NHL player energy with a heart that’s been shattered and rebuilt around his young daughter.
