Sometimes fate sends a sign, and sometimes it sends a bloodhound with a hot hockey player holding its leash, dragging it off you.

Owen Stone is not your usual hockey player. He’s a six-foot-two single dad with dark hair, ocean eyes, and muscles for days. He’s also a last-minute trade trying to find a home for his seven-year-old daughter, his psychic sister, and his adoring bloodhound. Naturally, my hockey-star cousin tells him to move in with us. I’m a sucker for a good dog.

Gina Bradford hits me right in my weakness. She’s tall for a girl, with strawberry-blonde hair, bright green eyes, and a sweet smile. She’s also a champion dog groomer, judge, and owner of a pure-bred show poodle, who is also a notorious towel thief.

When my new teammate invites me to be their roommate until I find a home for my crew, I should’ve said no. I’ve survived the worst, and I’ve achieved my dream of playing in the NHL.
My focus is on winning games and taking care of my daughter, not romance.

Until our dogs start acting like fated mates whose sole purpose is to push us together. And a charity calendar forces us to work together. And a highway accident strands us overnight in a hotel with only one room… and only one bed.

We said it was just once. We’ve both been hurt. But once is never enough.
My daughter loves her, and even my psychic sister predicted the girl of my dreams would be holding a dog.
It takes a little faith and a lot of courage, but what we’ve found is more than a cage. It’s a love that shows up, even when you’re not looking for it.

(Cage is a hockey romance with a broody single dad, an FMC obsessed with dogs/not love, roommates-to-lovers, close proximity, “just once,” chosen family, and loads of spicy fun. No cheating, no cliffhanger, and no third-act breakup.)

I liked seeing Owen all grown up. I, do, however feel like this new Bradford generation is a repeat of previous series. I feel as though a lot of the plot is identical. But it was a sweet book nonetheless. Thank you to Tia for the arc.

#Review: *Cage* - Tia Louise - ARC [18+]
4.3/5✨
3/5🌶️

Owen and Gina were temporarily roommates, because he has just been traded to a new hockey team there. Meanwhile, Owen was trying to find the proper home for his daughter, sister and his dog. The last thing in his mind was to fall for Gina. But both of them had some crazy dogs, which apparently were always throwing them in each other's arms 🤭. Could that be faith?

This was such a lovely and super fun book! Gina was such a huge lover of dogs, being a dog groomer and a judge in championships which included them. This element brought those fun vibes to this story, because those dogs were such a menace, always doing something funny. Owen was in a pretty tough spot, being caught up between his responsibilities and that crazy attraction he felt for Gina. Not even his family was immune to Gina's charms, his daughter and sister instantly loving her. His psychic sister also predicted that a girl with a dog would steal Owens minds, but could that be Gina?

Honestly, this has been the perfect read for a relaxing day. It was fun, with no drama and no third act breakup. The perfect choice for when you need to take a break and just laugh a bit🤭.

Thank you Grey's Promo and Tia for accepting me for this e-ARC!

📚ARC Review📚

And a good time was had by all …

Cage was the ultimate feel-good story with a few emotional “pockets” here and there but mostly a whole lot of flirty, sexy fun wrapped up in a huge package of heart! The laugh out loud moments were abundant with this story which made its cuteness factor go thru the roof.
If it’s one thing I have learned about Tia Louise and her writing is that you can always expect a realistic fictional journey that doesn’t focus on life’s “dark” moments but rather it’s “light” moments. She doesn’t throw in conflict just for dramatics, she writes positive and uplifting stories that make you smile from beginning to end. I cannot tell you how happy it makes me just knowing there will not be a last minute “conflict” thrown in one of her stories. That alone is worth a #oneclick!

Anywho, once again, I loved a story penned by Tia and I especially love the 2.0 and series connections that she is incorporating in this series!

Update >>> 🎧ALC REVIEW🎧

This was a whole new level of fun! The story was fun and flirty when I read it so I knew it would be a “good time” again in my ears and 🎙️Liam Dicosimo and Willa Jaymes🎙️ did not disappoint with their performances! It’s so weird to me sometimes that I can listen to a story just weeks after reading it and honestly feel like I’m experiencing it for the very first time! I picked up on a lot more of the emotion in the story that pulled a bit at my heartstrings and made this already “feel-good” story deeply heartwarming! Even the shenanigans made me laugh louder!

GAH, I enjoy Tia’s writing so much because she focuses more on the positive and pushing “thru” of life instead of drowning her stories in conflict or dramatics (IYKYK)! Either way you go with this story, audio or ebook (or both lol), you’re going to enjoy the heck out of it! #promise

Another charming and clever romance from Tia Louise! I love how unique this book was and how different the plot was, while still having the comforting tropes we all crave in romance. Or at least I do!

Gina is one of our New Bradfords and is the second generation of a beloved family. She's living in a house with her cousins and focusing on her passion of grooming and showing dogs. She has even went to school for science involving dog breeds and temperaments (don't ask me the particulars), which is SO fascinating to me. My family watches the Purina dog show every Thanksgiving so I knew EXACTLY which Pennsylvania Dog show she was hoping to make it to.

Owen is a widower, a single dad, and Gina's new temporary roommate. He makes her hands unsteady and he's a distraction she just can't afford. They are in close proximity as he looks for a new home for his daughter and settles onto the hockey team with her cousins. He makes her breath short and her pooch acts out (not a euphemism!) and then his daughter moves in and she is a goner.

Yet their chemistry is undeniable, and it doesn't help that everyone around them thinks they should give in and make a go of it as well. I think the third act seemed a little bit... weird and out of characters after how well they were gelling, but I enjoyed myself for the most part.

On a side note, Owen appears to be from another series that I haven't read by Tia Louise... his family and backstory just seemed to be very well fleshed out, so I'll have to look into that.

This was Duet narrated by Liam Dicosimo & Willa Jaymes. I haven't listened to them much previously and I was pleasantly surprised by them.

4.5 Stars

Arc Review!

This was such a cute, feel good, sometimes emotional read that just made my heart so happy. If you love single dad, dogs, and a lovable friend group, this one will make your heart happy!!

I absolutely loved Owen, Gina, and Maddie. The sweet, laughable moments in this book just made me love everything about their story. This one had the tension & chemistry, but the add emotional aspects just tugged at my heart strings!!

I cannot wait to see what comes next for this series!!

Owen Stone is the new guy on the Champions hockey team. He left his daughter in the care of his sister and is living with a teammate... and his cousin. Gina Bradford is a champion dog groomer, sometimes judge, and dog owner whos looking to win Best in Show with her dog.

Owen also owns a dog. And this dog LOVES Gina's dog. Theyre two peas. Their owners... while its a definite instant attraction, both are carrying some baggage. Owen is a widower whos shut out the possibility of a relationship and Gina's been burned too many times.

But these two are suffering from forced proximity. And some cousins/teammates who want these two together. Everyone knows it. Even Owen's psychic sister predicted it. Can Owen? He carries his loss with him and for a long time too.

The book is extremely funny. I came into this not having read book 1 and its really easy to follow. Give it a try, like we want Owen to try!

This review with have some spoilers so if you want to go in completely blind then don’t read.

This gets 2.5 stars from me. I was really disappointed.

While I was reading it I kept feeling it was missing something. I can’t put my finger on it.

I disliked more things about this book than I liked about it.

When they hook up in the motel he just happens to have a bunch of condoms. I doubt he’s been celibate since his wife died but he doesn’t seem like the type to sleep around enough to carry multiple condoms.

When they hook up the second time she doesn’t finish. It doesn’t get mentioned but it doesn’t show her finishing either. Then they hook up again at the Halloween party and she doesn’t finish AGAIN. It’s mentioned and he helps her finish but like, he obviously isn’t great in bed I guess.

I hate the miscommunication in this book. He’s a 35 year old man and couldn’t act like a grown up and let her explain what he saw. He ghosted her for days even though he knew that was something she experienced in the past. And then she forgives him right away! And not only that but he proposed! They’ve barely been together a month.

I basically DNF’d the book at like 80 something percent. I was so annoyed. I’m gonna give them next book a shot because I’ve liked all the other books in this universe but this one sucked.

5 Star Review Cage (The New Bradford #2) by Tia Louise

Audio/eBook
From the first chapter I was hooked in the story, with easy to relate to characters who quickly drew me in and held me captive.

This is Owen Stone and Gina Bradford’s story and was everything I was expecting.

I enjoy single parent stories and this is a good one. The sparks fly between them as their chemistry intensifies. However there is more to their relationship than just passion and that was heart warming to watch.

This is a story of romance, family, friendship and taking a leap of faith. There was nothing I didn’t like about this book and I cannot wait to see what Ms. Louise has in store for this series.

Narrated by Liam Dicosimo and Willa Jaymes both did a wonderful job with their narration. They brought the characters and story to life for me and were well voices suited to the characters and voices were pleasant and easy to listen too.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this swoon-worthy, super cute hockey romance meets Best in Show story!

Owen is a widowed hockey player and devoted dad to the most adorable little girl. When he meets Gina—a professional dog handler with a huge heart for fostering—sparks fly in the sweetest way.

This book is full of love, laughter, and closed-door spicy moments that still bring all the tension. If you love roommates-to-lovers, hockey romance, and an FMC who is completely obsessed with dogs, this one will steal your heart.
I can’t wait to see what comes next in the Bradford series! 🐾💙

Thank you to Tia and Grey’s Promotions for this ARC.

Reading Cage is like Miss Tia Louise said,”How about I emotionally wreck you a little bit?” and I said “okay, and I’ll love it.”

Cage is a broody, closed off, and clearly allergic to feelings which makes him peak book boyfriend material. Duh. This man is walking emotional damage, and watching him fight his feelings while clearly down bad was my personal entertainment. Gina deserved a gold medal (or hazard pay) for her patience because I would’ve snapped way sooner.

The emotional depth of both Cage and Gina, he’ll even Maddie, surprised me in the best way, and the romance felt earned instead of rushed, which I always appreciate.

If you enjoy wounded heroes, soft moments hidden under layers of grump, and muttering “sir, be serious” at your book, Cage will happily lock you in.

i fear i have to say this book did not work for me. i’m honestly very disappointed at how truly dissatisfied i am with this story, considering how immediately excited i was once i learned about it. single dad? widower? roommates? SIGN ME UPPPPPP! however, the actual book did not live to my expectations.

the fast burn and miscommunication in this one almost drove me to insanity. and i have to say, i’m one of those that’s very “lenient” with miscommunication in romances, because i do feel like people tend to overdo when complaining about it, since it’s very common in real life and i do understand it’s the result of a bunch of insecurities and such. with that said, i feel like we had more than a couple scenes that their conflict felt silly, because of how stupid the miscommunication was, in a way that didn’t make me empathize with any of it. and the fast burn didn’t help at all… i felt like the pacing was so weird and i didn’t buy into their romance.

because of that, the whole “it’s always been you” quote felt shallow to me. more like a box to check and say, hey this book has this microtrope! because why are you saying it’s always been the person you met five months ago?

all in all, this wasn’t a story that i really connected to. however, there were still some elements that i enjoyed, like owen and maddie’s dynamic, which as a sucker for a single dad trope, i always appreciate. i also always have such a fun time with mav, gav, haddy and all the other cousins!

i’ll be for sure still reading the next one too! i know this one, particularly, wasn’t the book for me, but i’m still excited to tune in to other tia louise’s stories (bradford series i’m looking at you!)

First let me just say that when I started reading this, I was kind of confused that the main character was not called Cage.🤣

While this has tropes I know and love, the job of the FMC was a new read for me. She was a scientist, but judged dog shows, groomed dogs, helped the local shelter, and more. It was unique. I loved Gina's personality and my heart hurt for her. She was such a good person but guys always seemed to treat her horrible.

Owen was a widowed single dad, new to the Champions NHL team, and moving in with Maverick and Gina. While this yummy MMC fought the chemistry with Gigi trying to be a good dad and focus on the new team, we get to see his protective and jealous side come out. I love a good guy, but watching him come to terms with his feelings made me want to shake the man. Come on Owen! Your dogs love each other, your friends get along, your families just blend, she's great with Maddie, and you guys are delightful together.

We get forced proximity, teammate/friend's family member, roommates, age gap, hockey player, and more. Sounds like a lovely lineup right?

🫶🏽 Lines:
Maybe Dad could stuff him in a dumpster, which is right where he belongs. (🤣 a bad ez)

I'm lying on my stomach, watching bad reality television. The kind that makes me feel better about myself. At least I'm not that f----d up.

...I need to be beside you always. I burn for you. I want you to be my wife, my life partner, my soul mate. It's always been you.

Owen Stone is a NHL hockey player. He is in his 30’s and has just been brought up to the NHL level. He is a widower. His wife died in childbirth. He has a young 7 yr old daughter. His sister Heather has been living with them taking care of his daughter while he skates and is traveling with the team.

Owen is new to this LA NHL team and one of his teammates offers him a room in his house u til he finds a house. Owen has a bloodhound dog who becomes instant friends with his new roommates dog.

Gina Bradford is a woman of many talents. She is a dog groomer. A dog show judge. She also helps trains dog for shows and gets them ready for shows.

Gina and Owen start hitting things off but they both have busy schedules and neither have time to ‘date’. But they wind up falling for each other and can’t stay away from each other. Owen’s daughter starts getting attached to Gina and he’s worried that she may get hurt if things end between them.

Will Owen and Gina be able to make time for each other and their new romance? Will their dogs become best friends?

I did receive a free ARC book copy of this book. I am freely leaving a honest book review.

Cage

If you’ve read any of my reviews about any books that Tia has written, you will know that I read about being blown away by her words in the world she creates within her books. What blew me away this time was the combination of 2 of her worlds coming together in one book! Owen is the oldest son of Britt and Aiden Stone from her 4 book series based in Eureka that starts with A Little Taste!! And Gigi is the daughter of Garret Bradford and Liv from the Bradford Boys series! Owen and Gigi come together in this new Bradford Series and the crossover is seamless! I can’t shout loud enough how much I loved this book! Owen is a widower and there are so many huge feels in this book because of his loss, but he also has a young daughter and is thoughtful of her feelings in the matter of his relationship with Gigi. This book has everything! I really don’t know how she keeps topping the previous books/series, but somehow she manages to!! I give this book a 10/10 even though I can only give it 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cage by Tia Louise is a gripping and steamy MMA romance that packs emotional punch with intense fight scenes and undeniable chemistry. The story follows Cage, a brooding fighter haunted by his past, who crosses paths with a fierce, independent heroine drawn into his dangerous world of underground bouts and personal demons. Louise's fast-paced writing captures the adrenaline of the ring alongside raw vulnerability and sizzling tension that kept me hooked.

I loved the authentic portrayal of Cage's internal struggles and growth, balanced by the heroine's strength and their slow-burn connection that evolves from sparks to passion. The MMA backdrop adds grit and excitement, while themes of redemption and trust give the romance real heart without overwhelming the heat.

While fighter romance tropes feel familiar, Louise's emotional depth and steamy payoff make Cage stand out. Overall, I’m giving it four stars. It’s a thrilling, sexy read perfect for fans of sports romances with brooding heroes.

Owen and Gina’s story was one I did not realize I needed! I was immediately in love with Gina, champion dog groomer and determined that now is the time for her dog to win Best in Show! Gina is no stranger to the series, as she brought us the canine star of the previous book. She also fosters dogs.

Owen is the newest member of the Champions, currently living with Gina while he finds a place for himself, his daughter and his sister. He is also a dog owner. Sparks fly for these two dogs first, then humans.

I am loving this new Bradfords series, this one is roommates to lovers, some tension, miscommunication, and Gina who is over the top in love with dogs!

I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Owen is definitely a good dad. A good friend. A good…ahem, time. But he’s also terrified of feeling again. And he knows it. He owns it. He just wasn’t counting on Gigi. At all. And I’m pretty sure he’s met his match, just as she has in him. They just need to let go of old fears, very real though they are, to see what they can have together.

This has it all. Spicy food, a seriously sketchy no-tell motel, friends and family, dogs, and hockey. Who could ask for more? Oh, wait. It’s also scorching. Yeah, that’s the more. These two communicate well, but hurts still happen. It’s all in how they resolve those hurts that make this so good. Because they’re self aware enough to know that things need to be faced head-on to make this work, even if that means leaving Mav to his own devices. Don’t worry, though. Those devices won’t be alone for long! I can already tell he’s ready for the One. But she might not be ready for him. We shall see.

Gina is a champion dog groomer and judge, and Owen is a professional hockey player for the L.A. Champions and is staying with Gina and her cousin while looking for a house for his sister and daughter.

Gina and Owen have a strong pull towards one another that I loved. I loved the relationship Gina built with Owen’s daughter, Maddie, who is a total sweetheart and wants to learn to show dogs like Gina.

I enjoyed the banter between Gina and Owen, but also between Gina and her cousins. They both have amazing supportive families that I love!

I loved that we got to see cameos of the characters from the Be Still series! I enjoyed that series so much and I loved that the author brought these two series together.

Cage by Tia Louise was such a quick, cute read. Roommates to lovers is already a win in my book, but the dogs fall in love before the humans?? Sold ✅

Our MMC is a hockey player, single dad, and widower just trying to figure out life one day at a time. His daughter stole my heart. wanting to to be a mini version of the FMC and living her best life at dog shows.

Perfect if you’re in the mood for something light and full of both human and dog love.

I loved Gina, Owen, Maddie, and all the pups!

Owen is the newest hockey player to join her cousin's team. He's a single dad, ridiculously good-looking, and has muscles for days. Her cousin invites him to move in with them while he searches for a house that will work for him, his daughter, his psychic sister, and his adorable bloodhound.

Owen's focus is on winning games and taking care of his daughter, not romance. He should have said no when he was invited to live with them because Gina is a gorgeous distraction.

When their dogs start acting like soulmates, it's almost as if they're trying to push them together. Nevermind the prediction his sister made. And his little girl, Maddie, adores her.

When a highway accident strands them overnight in a hotel with only one room and only one bed, they agree to one night. But they'll soon realize that once will never be enough.

Thanks so much to the author and Greys Promo for this ARC to review.

Owen and Gina are just purely epic!! Getting to see Owen and his amazing family again was such a treat but my heart hurt for everything he has been through and yet he was still caring, loving, and everything. Gigi was just as amazing, with her feistiness and clam demeanor you can’t help but love her, almost as much as I loved her dad. Watching these two come together, banter, bring the steam, and the chaos their dogs brought in their lives was so much fun to enjoy.

Gina and Owen were cute together and Maddie was adorable. I didn't fully buy into the relationship between Gina and Owen, probably because it never seemed like they were in a relationship. Friends with benefits, definitely. Not a relationship. I didn't understand everything that happened with the miscommunication at the end. It was confusing.

Also, how did Haddie go from earning a master's in science (I can't remember the exact degree) to becoming a PR person for the hockey team? That made no sense.

This was such a cute and swoony book, I needed to clean my palette after reading dark romance. We get to meet Owen and Gina in the previous book and learn about their personalities, and it comes out even more in this book. They complemented each other very well. 💕

Plus the dogs! I love those troublemakers so much!
