CJ I'm so sick and tired of the world. All the sh*t that goes on, I just can't take. Cannot take. So, yeah, I've been hiding for the last six months. Haven't left the house. Thank god Scarlett is there to take care of me, because if she weren't....I'd probably be dead by now.I finally do leave the house, and what happens? Asher, that's what happens. Super wealthy, hotter than the surface of hell, with the grace of a jungle cat. I could just imagine what he would be like in bed.But he's dangerous. I can see it in his eyes. And he's definitely hiding something. Definitely. Why can't I resist him? He's the one my mother would have told me about. If I had a sane mother, that is.All I know is that his lips say trouble, but his body makes mine weep.ASHERI need a woman, and I need one right now.My crazy stalker ex-girlfriend won't leave me alone, so I need a woman to pose as my fiancee so that crazy bitch will finally give up.CJ seems like she's game. She's right for me, too, because she won't ask too many questions. If she starts asking questions, then she'll know how many men I've killed. I can't have that.As long as she doesn't get too close to the truth, we can get along. But if she learns the truth, all bets are off. And that would be too bad, because she's sexy as hell.I've been running, though, and I have to keep running.Because if the world knew the truth about me, I'd be done.
Disclaimer!!! You know that when you pick up a book that involves a Billionaire meeting a hot young thing, that it’s totally Fiction and should be read as such, right? Good...let’s begin.
Holy Wow!!! Hot hot hot and super yummy. Asher is the epitome of hottest eligible bachelor. Filthy rich, hot as sin and can totally back it up in the sack. Yep, I said it. Why must all of these men live only in books? Lol
And then there’s CJ…Complete damsel in distress here. A photographer who suffered a tragic incident 6 months earlier is now suffering from agoraphobia (can’t leave the house), along with panic attacks. She literally passes out while trying to overcome her fears, only to wake up in Asher’s bed. Fantasies do come true…
As in most Billionaire Fiction books, this totally started off with a wham bam, let’s get to know each other NOW feel. At about 20% in the book, I was like, “where else is this book taking me?” and then you find out. It’s a nice little twist and is probably the reason I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. BTW – This REALLY didn’t feel like 300 pages. Once you’re in to the read, it FLIES!!!
Ok, so as you can tell, Asher has a secret, blah blah blah, most leading men in books do and of course we find out as a cliffhanger. What did you expect? It’s book 1 of 3, duh.
Would I recommend this? You bet cha. In fact, I’m already begging for #2!!!!
*I was given a copy of this book as a gift from The JeepDiva in exchange for an honest review.
Photographer CJ Parker has been hiding safely in her own apartment for six months, the outside world is overwhelming and causes panic attacks every-time she tries to stop into it. As her bank account dwindles and the awareness of the situation is a continual reminder, CJ makes a big step and takes a chance on going out. Only to find herself waking up in a mysterious mans apartment.
Billionaire Asher Sloane calms CJ, he also has a way of making her want him on a carnal basis. As they begin to get to know one another, it often seems one sided, for Asher has secrets and once revealed it could mean the end with one another.
I went into Exposure thinking it would be the typical billionaire read.... this book turned out to be SO much more. CJ’s story had me crying like a baby. If you are looking for hot read with and actual story that will pull at the emotion strings then this is the book for you.
Oh my, oh my! I love it when books this awesome fall in my lap! Ms. Jacoby brings us a wonderful story about CJ Parker, she was a photographer, but a tragedy involving her little brother, has caused her to become agoraphobic. (I'm not going to tell because it is a major part of the story.) She forces herself to leave her apartment and passes out. She wakes up, and has no idea where she is and is far to panicked to leave. Enter Asher, a mysterious millionaire. He in turn understands what she is going through but doesn't really tell her what it is. He makes her an offer she can't refuse and changes her life.
Ms. Jacoby's characters are well defined and you will fall in love. CJ is a strong woman, who is broken, because of a tragic accident. Asher, a mystery that you can't wait to find out his secrets. I wanted to throttle Sophia - she is a bitch!
My one caution for you as readers is that the book ends with one hell of a cliffhanger! I had a wee fit over it. If you like stories with strong characters, life changing situations, hot guys and hot sex, this one is perfect! I can't wait for the next installment.
Exposure was not the book for me. Usually I love reading sexy books about mysterious billionaires but this one didn't do it for me, unfortunately. I've seen quite a few good ratings and reviews so maybe this is just a personal thing.
I'm not sure what is was that put me off the most about this book. I think most of it was the writing. I couldn't really get into it and it felt pretty wooden, as well as the conversations happening in the book between CJ and Asher. Another thing that I didn't like was how after talking to Asher for like five seconds that CJ was completely taken and fixated by Asher. Sex followed pretty much right away. I just didn't like it.
I did like the idea of this story, though. I actually really liked the first chapter. It just went downhill from there. It had a lot of potential but I thought it was poorly written and executed, in my opion. And I'm sorry but the sex scenes weren't even that appealing to me. Not at all.
I really hate leaving negative reviews but I have to be honest and I can't say I recommend this book to anyone. I'm sure there are people out there that would like this book more but it wasn't for me.
Oh NOOOSSS I finished this book wayyy to fast. Why you asked. Because I can’t get the next book yet. I read through this book twice and while I may have had a few issues with it, I still loved it. You see, I do believe in that automatic attraction with someone. That is why I have been with my other half since the day we met 19 years ago. It happens. I do not know too much about the condition this character suffers from, so I have no basis on which to critique on that aspect. Some of it feels farfetched, however, I know I have done things outside of my doctor’s orders in order to try and get better faster. If you are looking for HEA, this is not the book for you. If you do not like cliffhangers, do not pick this one up unless you are prepared to get the next one immediately. I was coasting right along with this book and then BAM, it goes all off sides. I found out, screaming at your kindle does not help, just saying. I give this book 4 stars and am patiently waiting until I can get my hands on the next installment.
3.5 stars I enjoyed this story, but it wasn't a favorite. The characters and story were good. The reason that I only gave this book a 3 star rating is because of the dialogue between the main characters Asher and CJ. At times I rolling my eyes the way they spoke together (particularly when they were having sex).
The cliffhanger at the end of the book did however, leave me eagerly anticipating the next book.
Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Cliffhangers drive me crazy, and this one has a doozy, so beware. Until that point, however, I was intrigued with this story. CJ is not your typical main character in that she suffers from agoraphobia after a traumatic event in her life. She's got some flaws, which makes her more believable and more human, although not necessarily more likable. Asher is the mysterious billionaire who, for some obscure and totally unexplained reason, falls in love with her and wants to help her. He has a dark secret in his past as well, but his tendency to go ahead and make decisions without discussing them with CJ is annoying. (I suppose that's how he became a billionaire, having grown up poor.) Their chemistry is totally hot, and they have a lot of sexual scenes, sometimes going a little over-the-top in their frequency. But overall, I found this to be an interesting romance, a bit different, and I will probably seek out the next in the series at some point.
I received this book from author for an honest review.
The book starts a bit unrealistic and it continues to be so. CJ had a traumatic event and suffers from agoraphobia. She doesn't go out for 6 months and when she decides to do so, she falls in the hand of rich handsome guy Asher. They click together but it doesn't seem believable. They jump to sex pretty much right away, with which I don't have problem at all. It was the language and »clichés« like from a bad porn movie that bothered me (Do you want my big hard cock, I'm so wet for you, massive glorious cock, big hard cock inside you…) And I actually love dirty talk but this was not convincing it was over exaggerated. Furthermore, for a girl who didn't know if she ever had an orgasm, she is very familiar with them from the beginning and is exploding almost on click.
I won't go into language battle, but dear authors, please use appropriate words. »The Cum« is semen and you don't make someone »cum«. She can make him »come« and that taste his »cum«. But then again, maybe I'm too detailed. The story is too stereotypical with lots of clichés and even more sex which is ok. But is not graphic and gets boring to read about it which again came out unbelievable and unrealistic.
I couldn't connect with the main characters, they both were missing the depth and some charisma. It was like they were just living and stating some facts and trying to bring some suspense but I just couldn't see it so it was an average story for me. I found myself skipping some lines in order to get through.
It ends with a cliff-hanger but I'm not sure I'll be reading the next one.
I guess it is an ok read for some or maybe I'm just too picky :)
I liked his tattoo though: "I'm not afraid, at least not to die. I'm afraid to live and not remember why."
CJ Parker was a paparazzo. A fairy successful one, at that. Until one day, six months ago that changed her life forever. Now suffering from acute agoraphobia, she's in danger of losing everything. Her saving is nearly gone. She's reached the end of her rope. Trying to force herself into recovery, she thrusts herself outside of her apartment building. Cue ensuing blackout.
Asher Sloane is super hot, mega rich owner of a company selling cheap alternative energy to third world countries. He sees CJ outside her building and recognizes what is happening to her. He instructs his driver to take her to the hospital but somehow he misunderstood and dropped her off at his penthouse instead. Asher comes home to find CJ still there since she's too terrified to go outside.
Ok, so at first I was put off by the fact that the characters were having sex after just meeting especially since CJ hasn't been outside her apartment in six months. I also struggled with Asher referring to his manhood as his "big cock". I mean, really? Can you say, ego?
However, Annie Jocoby did pull me back in. I felt very concerned for CJ. I wanted to know what exactly happened to her and why she feels she's responsible for her brother's death.
I liked Asher even though I felt there was some sinister that he was hiding.
Annie did a great job of not fluffing over CJ's condition. I was fearful that it would be trivialized and not given due respect but that wasn't the case. I don't have experience with agoraphobia or PTSD but I know the conditions are severe and should not be made light of. This may not be an accurate representation of those disorders, but it is a work of fiction, after all.
Careful, though. Cliffhanger alert.

I really don't even know what I just read. The blurb for this one sounded good, but the book was just...not.
I'm glad CJ finally got the help she needed, and that she was able to share her story about her little brother...but the book seemed to turn into a self-help book at that point.
Learning about Asher's past just had me shaking my head. I mean REALLY?! Did we need to take it that far?
No. Nope. No.
The cliffhanger was a killer, but still not enough to make me want to read the next one.
"So, what do you think?" "That this duck is better than sex," I said "You won't be saying that after you have it with me."
I received my copy from the author for an honest review.
So the gist of the story is CJ suffers from agoraphobia for the past 6 months from a incident that gets slowly revealed trough the story. Asher the gorgeous billionaire comes to her rescue but soon reveals he wants to propose a 'business deal' where frequent hot sex is okay but don't expect love.
You got two mysteries, drama, sex, black-mailing ex's, plenty of sex, and a character dealing with agoraphobia.
This was more than a rich guy poor girl romance story. I enjoyed CJ her character was dealing with her own issues but still came across as believable. Asher I didn't care for much but that is just me. Everyone makes mistakes and choices and things happen, how we deal with the result though...
Right off the bat let me say that this book has one heck of a cliff hanger that will completely take you by surprise. It is the first in a three part series, which you'll find yourself completely committed to continuing with the remaining books once you're done reading this story.
The characters are well defined, the premise of the story is not a new one, damsel in distress, hot rich guy to her rescue...where it differs are the characters themselves. The dialog is a bit stiff at times, the bedroom scenes were a difficult to get thru, but once you get into the story, those things don't seem to matter.
This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
A good read for people who are in to the series recommend highly can't wait for the next one of the series a really enjoyable read but long still enjoyable must read the next one of the series to find out what happened next
The first book in the Exposure trilogy by Annie Jocoby an amazing way to start! Exposure is a Suspenseful Romantic Erotic story. CJ and Asher pull you in quickly and hold on tightly. Even work in making you want more from them.. This was one of them reads that kept me wanting more.
This is the first book in the Exposure trilogy by Annie Jocoby and what a way to start!
C.J. Parker is a photographer with a NYU degree that used to spend her time with other “paparazzi” chasing down celebrities and making a lot of money. That is before a tragic event in her life 6 months ago, which now keeps her locked inside her home and her own private hell. CJ has almost gone through her savings, hasn’t worked, has no contact with her mother or sister and only has her friend Scarlett to count on.
CJ suffers from Agoraphobia, and knows that she can’t continue to live this way, being stuck in the house, afraid to walk outside, but the alternative is every bit as scary. She attempts to go outside one day, but pushes herself too far. Instead of just taking baby steps and going into the hallway of her apartment complex she tried the sidewalk and immediately feels a panic attack begin. The next thing she knows she is waking up in a strange bed, strange house, and soon with a strange man entering. She is convinced that she has been kidnapped. However, something about him makes her feel she can trust him. “Those words rang through in my ears. “I won’t let anything bad happen to you.” I looked into those blue eyes, and I knew that I could trust him.”
Asher Sloane is a billionaire whose company helps thousands of people throughout the world. He is a man with his own demons and believes that he is not capable of truly loving another person. His own past is filled with murder, betrayal, secrets and abandonment. On the outside he seems to be this man who has it all, good looks and money, but he hasn’t always lived the charmed life he portrays.
He just happened to be driving by when CJ had her attack and recognized the signs of what was going on. As the two begin to get to know each other a little, they share an afternoon of intense passion. The next day, Asher sends a therapist to see CJ and help her work through her disorder. It’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for her.
As they share more exotic, toe curling, moments of ecstasy, Asher thinks he has the perfect way for them both to help each other. He can help her financially and she can help him get away from the clutches of his crazy psycho ex Sophie. When CJ first hears the plan she is angry and hurt. She can’t believe what he has purposed, but as time goes on and the financial burden she has increases she feels trapped to make it work. It doesn’t help that they seem to have this undeniable connection and she continues to fall in love with him knowing that he will never love her back.
As part of Asher’s elaborate plan he throws a dinner party to introduce CJ as his fiancé to his friends and Sophie. He has warned CJ that Sophie is basically an adult “mean girl”, but nothing could prepare her for what she ends up enduring. While Asher momentarily steps away, Sophie corners CJ and embarrasses her in front of the rest of Asher’s friends. The result sends CJ into a tailspin, but it’s a tailspin that she might actually need. Will she be able to pull herself up out of the ashes? Will she be able to keep herself from being destroyed and humiliated or will she simply crumble? During the course of her tailspin she finds out more about Asher and what she discovers will shock her and the reader. Can they make it work? Will they end up destroying each other? Will they ever find peace or happiness? Most of all can CJ ever overcome her disorder?
This book leaves off with a cliffhanger that will lead to the second book “Focus”. Annie Jocoby’s writing makes you laugh, blush, and pop your eyes out with shock. I enjoyed the comedy and sarcasm of each character. The writing makes you believe you are there witnessing it. Two of my favorite funny quotes are “I don’t necessarily want Eduardo to hear you moan in ecstasy. He’s a brand new driver, so I don’t want him to go screaming into the night.” The other one is “Okay. Well, I guess I can live with your demons, whatever they are, as long as they don’t compel you to kill me and eat my liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.” Brilliant!
One homebound paparazzi photographer + an altruistic billionaire … truly scorching
I find myself wanting to slap my own hands as I type this review. Can you say a touch of writer’s block mixed with the temptation to blurt out spoilers? Guess that is why Annie is the author and I’m the reviewer. She did an excellent job at teasing out the reasons for CJ’s bout of agoraphobia. While at times I wanted to say “come on tell me what's’ going on already,” the reality is that CJ couldn’t emotionally and mentally deal with the tragedy and cause of her mental illness. Ms. Jocoby showed that in her pacing and sporadic forays into CJ’s past.
Slowly, but surely you get to the root of the problem and CJ is left to deal with things and learn to move on. Lest you think CJ might be weak willed or weak minded, put your mind at ease. Nothing could be further from the truth. Tragedy hits us all very differently and for some hiding or denial is a defense mechanism that is quite uncontrollable. For CJ it wasn’t a case of wanting to give up totally and hide away, but rather not knowing how to move forward. Being stuck at home puts the agoraphobic in rather a catch 22. You need help, but how do you get out and get help when the problem you are dealing with is the ability to leave in the first place? Thank heaven for a hot and steamy billionaire that comes to the rescue in CJ’s case. With an endless stream of money, the right therapists and health insurance things can work out, at least on the therapy end of things. The relationship, on the other hand, is another matter altogether.
Asher Sloane is a high-powered billionaire in the arena of providing alternative energy sources around the globe. From all outward appearances, he is a very altruistic individual, something CJ admires greatly. Asher also has a dilemma… what to do with a stalker ex. His solution is to hire CJ to pose as his fiance, a potential win-win for both of them. The problem? As hot as these two tear up the sheets in their every interaction, Asher expects their relationship to be a ruse only… no emotions, no room for love. While one moment you are praising Asher for the help he is giving CJ and his awesomeness as a lover, the next you are cursing him for the very unfeeling approach he wants to take towards their relationship. It’s also pretty apparent this man has a past he’s hiding. For a photographer with a journalism background, that seems just a bit too much temptation.
And here is where I will stop so as not to give away all the goodies. Suffice it to say, the sex is scorching. The story is very compelling and you really feel for CJ. Asher obviously comes to the conclusion that he’s in love with her but is it enough when his past comes to light? I will say that this one does not end on an HEA or an HFN. You are left with a bit of a cliffhanger and where you may have thought things were over, you can rest assured they aren’t. The series contains four books of which three are full length. The final in the series is a novella. I haven’t quite decided yet if I’ll pick up the next in the series. The writing is great. The erotic elements are awesome. The story is compelling. I find myself curious to see what has happened with CJ and if the two can get past Asher’s past. I’m honestly not sure what is causing my hesitance to pick up the next in the series. If I have to hazard a guess I would say it is the cliffhanger combined with my propensity to read PNR, SyFy, and the likes. When it comes down to it Exposure is a great erotic romance that promises to have plenty of suspense in the next book.
Review copy provided via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. *****Reviewed for Xtreme-Delusions.com*****
I had very low expectations of this book when I started it because my good friend gave it a whopping DNF after getting really aggravated with it about 10% in. Fortunately, for me, I found that what aggravated her, only amused me and the book was not dreadful.
That said, when I read Annie Jocoby's writing, I feel like someone is speaking really slowly to me in short, simple sentences because they fear I am slow and unable to comprehend big words and complex sentences. When significant events unfold in the story, instead of showing them to me, I feel like Ms Jocoby is hitting me over the head with them using a blunt object.
More importantly, because this is supposed to be an erotic romance, I think Ms Jocoby needs a sex thesaurus. There are more words than "cock" to describe the male sex organ, unfortunately, Ms Jocoby seems to be very attached to that word and used it over 40+ times in the book (I counted!). Towards the end of the book, even if she had used the dreaded "manroot" I would have cheered! A person can only read "do you want this hard cock?" so many times without rolling their eyes in exasperation.
I liked CJ right from the start. She had a debilitating illness that was keeping her from living her life and she was doing something about it. In fact, the story opens with her trying to take control of her life, even if she was motivated by financial desperation, and that's how she meets Asher. CJ is what I like to call a brave heroine that you can cheer for. She's flawed and practically crippled by her illness but she fights her way through that to become a better version of herself, wanting to be well enough to live a better life. There are moments when CJ's character does some things that are really childish and crass, which were really off putting but on the whole, she's a likable if rather immature character. In fact, with the style of Ms Jocoby's writing, both characters come across at times as juvenile and immature.
As for Asher, he's at once confounding and a little too perfect, and then not at all. Right from the start there are many misconceptions of who he is and how perfect he is and it's not till the very end that you find out that he has some dark secrets that the is keeping from CJ.
As the story progresses, it takes some interesting turns, and even though the writing style itself left much to be desired, I enjoyed the story. There were at least 3 points in the story where something happens and I stop and think "huh, I didn't see that coming!" which I liked.
The ending also surprised me, even though I had read the blurb for the next book already. I'm definitely wanting to read the next book to see what comes next.
CJ is trying to deal with a tragedy that changed her life and is failing miserably. A photographer by trade, she is now trapped in her apartment by fear and unable to work. When she realizes she has no other choice than to face her fears, she leaves the safety of her apartment and has a panic attack on the street. When she wakes up, she is in a strangers house and when that stranger comes home, she knows things will never be the same.
Asher is everything CJ knows she shouldn't want and can't have but she can't resist him. The more she learns about his past, the more she is drawn to him. Then Asher makes her a proposition that throws her and changes the course of their relationship. Even though she doesn't want to accept it,CJ knows her situation doesn't leave her any choice.
Now, she is in Asher's world and the more time she spends with him, the more she knows her heart is involved and she will never be able to walk away from him.
So this book started off slow for me...I wasn't sure what to think about CJ as it takes a big chunk of the first half of the book before you know what her tragedy is. It was unbelievable at first which is what I think I had a hard time with...she is so terrified to leave her home, yet she is ok with waking up in a strangers home and then proceeds to have sex with him shortly there after?? Yeah, that was a little tough for me.
So there I was thinking...oh I am not going to like this one...and then Asher makes his "proposition" which causes CJ to freak out but she sticks up for herself and walks away. Then I started thinking...hmmmm..I think I might like this girl. From then on, their relationship is very back and forth which made it much more interesting to read. Add in some mystery, a crazy ex and a lot of emotional trauma and this ended up being a really good story with a hell of a cliffhanger at the end.
My thoughts:
POV Switches between CJ and Archer Quick hook or slow starter? 3 (It was slow at first but hooked me after their first argument) Character development: 4 Level of Romance between characters: 4 Passion/Heat level: 4.5 (This one brings the heat...there is sex almost right away as mentioned before and it is hot) Angst/Heartbreak: 4.5 (both are dealing with a lot and Asher has a lot of secrets) Cliffhanger?: Yes, it ends on a big one and it will leave you dying to know what happens next.
Overall, it started slow for me but I ended up really enjoying this one and can't wait to see what happens next!

The author Annie Jocoby really does a fine job with the first in the series of three. Exposure leaves the reader hanging on the edge of the seat and wondering just exactly will happen next. This book totally swept me off my old, tired feet and gave me something juicy to look forward to reading! I truly mean that too. Honestly, I feel like I have been kept alive by super, hot, and lovey dovey steamy sex! All jokes aside I truly loved this book. Jocoby starts this novel off very well and you will truly miss it if you have to put it down for a few seconds! With that stated, I recommend this Kindle platform hit to all who love a good thriller! Romance is good but when you have the added aspects of mental disorders etc. it really gives the novel an interesting, in depth plot!
I rate this awesome novel with FIVE SUPER STARS! Annie Jocoby is one of the best!
* I was given the book Exposure in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine and I have NOT been compensated for them.
Firstly, the blurb sounds wonderful; alpha dominant guy, a steamy romance, and CJ Parker a delicate female lured out by the racy billionaire. After a couple of weeks reading fantasy books almost exclusively, this really appealed but it doesn’t deliver; firstly the writing style is a little off kilter. It doesn’t flow and instead is quite stiff and robotic. This meant that it didn’t quite sit with me as a reader throughout. It’s technically correct in terms of grammar and spelling but the conversation doesn’t surge and give but instead feels forced. Additionally some of the writing is a little curious. It’s just a little badly written and quite pornographic in nature. It didn’t feel like the author meant it and it therefore didn’t feel like the characters meant it either. Their dialogue is also a little immature, it is rocky and at time vulgar which left me feeling a little stunned.
Another issue was the relationship between CJ and Asher was unrealistic and confusing. At one point she’s spending large amounts of his money but refusing to let him know where she is? It made my feminist blood boil a little and not in a good way. I just didn’t get it and compared to the blurb on the back I felt a little let down. I think that the characters were the main problem for this book; they weren’t described strongly enough and given enough characteristics to make me want them to get together. I actually felt a lot of the time the two were using each other and that the connection between them was purely physical; for some readers they might enjoy this but for me it didn’t sit right and the constant almost bare to the bone account of their sexual relationship became tedious incredibly quickly. This created other issues including why Asher was fascinated in helping CJ in the very beginning and the fact that his character profile was a little abhorrent. His emotions reminded me of that of an adolescent teenage boy, a stud who wanted to use the main female character. Just, no. As many reviews have also included, the sentence that included the comment ‘I want to squirt between your legs,’ made me cringe and put the book down. I’m done from this point on.
Overall this book feels rushed and pushed to be finished. It lacks development of the characters, which leads to an underdevelopment of their relationship with one another. I have had a little look into the author and seen that she has written a number of books and I’m sure there are readers who will really enjoy this; I for one struggled to finish it.

Attraction and magnetic lust pulled two people from two completely different pasts together when one powerful, sexy and very wealthy man rescued a damsel in distress in the middle of Soho. CJ has suffered from agraphobia since a traumatic event in her past. Asher began a quest to pull her from her self-imposed prison while keeping his own past deeply hidden from this fragile woman. Of course, we all know that one’s past will eventually catch up with them and Asher’s does, leaving CJ reeling with doubt, insecurities and beginning the downward spiral back into her own personal hell.
by Annie Jocoby has an intriguing plot and makes no bones about being an erotic romance. The concept of the mysterious billionaire helping the struggling female is always a good hook, two worlds colliding in passion and heat. Annie Jocoby moved this tale along at a good pace, but veered left and into the bedroom, limo, hall, etc., just as the tension for the rest of the plot was reaching some great momentum. It caused a few jolts for me that took me out of the story for a second. She does not ask us to like her characters, as she casts shadows over her billionaire. He came across as wanting to warm and caring, but only as long as he was in total control over CJ.
The romantic scenes lacked the magical passion and sensual heat and came across as more crude than earthy and seemed to be placed as often as possible. The potential for a searing romantic read with an intriguing plot fell just a little short for me.

CJ Parker has agoraphobia following a traumatic event. Asher is gorgeous and wealthy, and rescues her when she loses consciousness while attempting to venture outside of her home. He keeps coming around, they start spending time together, and eventually a romance blossoms. As with any romance there are complications—obstacles of sorts—that threaten to put a permanent wedge between them.
Let me start with what I liked about this book. I enjoyed the romantic aspects of the story, the hard and fast fall for someone, craving them in all ways. I also enjoyed the plot line, and I definitely think it had the elements that are needed to keep it going into a trilogy like it’s set up. It was also really easy to read and it was a good length.
There were a number of things I struggled with while reading this book, however. Things between CJ and Asher felt very rushed to me, especially given CJ’s condition. Immediately trusting a complete stranger and venturing all over town with him after being petrified to do so for months … didn’t feel real to me at all. I work in mental health and I can’t see anyone who has undergone such trauma and been so anxious for so long turning things around in the blink of an eye like this. I also had a hard time with how quickly CJ jumped into bed with Asher. I understand what physical attraction can do, but once again, coming back to the agoraphobia thing, I don’t see someone who suffers from that condition realistically launching into a physical relationship so quickly. I think if these aspects were different, then this could easily have been a four or even a five star read for me.
I liked how Jocoby created the stories behind both CJ and Asher, and as individual characters, I liked each of them. They were well-developed an had good individual storylines going on. I had a hard time relating to the characters though, and I think a lot of that was because of the realism issues I mention above.
Technicalities aside, this was a good read. Jocoby is a good writer, I like her style a lot, and there was a lot of attention and creativity put into this piece. If you’re looking for an easy-to-read romance that has some suspense and drama nicely woven into it, check this one out. It’s good for a quick summer read as well!
World Building: This novel takes place in New York! The setting is usually in either CJ’s house, Asher’s house, or the hospital. Characters: The main characters in this novel were CJ (yes this is a girl’s name!) and Asher. CJ is a shut in. She has agoraphobia, which is the fear of places, that stems from a tragedy that she went through six months before. Asher is a billionaire. And wants nothing more than to possess CJ and use her to help his own personal situation. But can they overcome tragedies from their pasts to have a shot a beautiful future? Or will the ghosts of their pasts ultimately rip them apart and everything that they have built so far? Plot: The story line was actually kind of interesting. None of the main story plots were told until almost the end of the novel but it kept me intrigued nonetheless. There was a few story arcs that this novel presented! First was the obvious romance arc between Asher and CJ, although their romance happened a little too quickly for my tastes. The second story arc was CJ’s condition and her over coming her issues. And the last story arc was that of the things hiding in Asher’s past! Writing: This story was told in first person points of view of both Asher and CJ. Although CJ had the majority of the chapters it was nice to get a peek at Asher every once in a while. The problem with this book, for me really, was the dialogue as well as the fact that it wasn’t as descriptive as it could have been. When CJ and Asher would talk to each other it was done in a weird way and just wasn’t all that believable to me. As for not being as descriptive as I would have liked, it just seemed like there was more telling instead of showing. Curb Appeal: The cover is exactly what I would have pictured Asher as!! I really do like the cover and its simplicity. The blurb is pretty spot on, yet it does make Asher seem like this sort of arrogant and a mean guy but he is anything but. Ultimately: This story had an interesting story line. I wish that Asher’s point of view was more prevalent but it was kind of cool to get his point of view at random times. The dialogue could have been written better but it didn’t make me want to stop reading the story. If you’re in the mood for a trilogy read that ends on a cliffhanger come and check out this novel out!
I had quite high hopes for this book as I hadn't read a sexy billionaire erotic romance in a while and was looking forward to it. However, this fell short of my expectations unfortunately.
We follow this story mostly through the eyes of CJ who has suffered a devastating tragedy that has caused her to be agoraphobic and therefore can't leave her house without it causing a panic attack. She's trying to beat this phobia and is doing all she can with limited funds to get better. CJ meets Asher Sloane on one of her confidence building trips outside her building whereby she has a panic attack and he swoops in to save her. This part of the story I quite liked as it was well written and you could really feel the pain that CJ was going through, it felt real.
Enter Asher Sloane...he's a mystery even though most of his life is public with his business dealings but he is hiding some deep dark secrets. This part of the story I felt was good as well, it kept you guessing right to the end and it was unpredictable which I love in my stories.
However, where this book falls down for me is in the romance department. I didn't feel any connection between these two even when they were supposed to be falling in love with each other. I couldn't understand the attraction between them or why someone like Asher would be attracted to CJ regardless of their 'apparently' similar pasts. The sex scenes were steamy and well written in regards to the actions, but the dirty talk was uncomfortable to read and made me cringe a couple of times.
The mystery/dramatic side and finding out more about Asher Sloanes mysterious and possibly dangerous past is what saved this book for me, and I felt the authors strengths lie in this area as opposed to the romance side. It kept me guessing and most importantly, kept me reading it right to the end as I had to know what this guys deal was.
Overall, it was a good read, just not great. But if you like your billionaire erotic romance books, don't let my dislikes stop you from giving it a go as you may enjoy it more than me. I'd love to hear from you if you do give it a try.
I really enjoyed this book, there are so many layers to it. It is so emotional and had me in tears on several occasions. Tragedy, mystery, dark secrets, mental illness, love and lust combine to create an exciting read. It ends on a hell of a cliffhanger, but thankfully I have the next book lined up on my kindle to read.
Photographer CJ is suffering from agoraphobia after a huge tragedy. After she forces herself to go outside she collapses and wakes up in a strange apartment. Billionaire Asher found her on the street and asked his driver to take CJ to the hospital. Unfortunately his driver doesn't speak very good English and having misunderstood his instructions, takes her to Asher's luxury apartment instead. When they meet it's lust at first sight, there is real chemistry between them. I'm not going say much about the storyline as I don't want to accidentally give away any spoilers, but there are lots of twists and turns with secrets gradually revealed.
CJ's agoraphobia and PTSD are a big part of this story and personally I felt the author dealt with it really well. I have suffered with agoraphobia on and off for the last eleven years, so I can relate to the character's anxiety about going outside. Mental illness is often portrayed unrealistically in novels like this, with instant cures, but the author showed here that it often takes a lot of work, professional help and support to learn to cope with or overcome mental illness. The part with CJ forcing herself to go outside and consequently collapsing showed that this is not something you can instantly cure yourself of (as a lot of people seem to think).
I like mysterious billionaire types with secrets - and Asher definitely has lots of those. CJ is very likable, and I really felt for her. She's made big mistakes in her past and is having to live with the consequences. I also liked the fact that we didn't know what the tragedy in her life was straight away, we gradually found out more about it as the story progressed which worked well.
Exposure is a great book with hot steamy sex and a strong storyline. The ending is a big cliffhanger so I'm off to read the next book now! Five stars.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a honest review

You'll like this story if: You like smut. Hardcore smut. The kind that turns your cheeks red and has you turning around to make sure no one's watching you :-) This book also contains a mix of good stuff that crosses the singular genre line. There's some mystery, romance, erotica, and also a HUGE cliffhanger which means it's a series. Whoop Whoop!
THE STORY: Agoraphobic CJ Parker has not left her home in 6 months after a horrific tragedy scared her into seclusion. Her first foray out of the house leads to a fainting spell on the streets of Soho. CJ comes to in the swanky apartment of dark and handsome Asher Sloane whom upon first glance, experiences an instant magnetism.
"I was trying to be strong. There was something that was magnetic about this man, yet, at the same time, I could detect an undercurrent of danger. He seemed to command what he wanted, when he wanted. That was intoxicating."
Asher attempts to help CJ overcome her (still unknown at this point) trauma through a series of *dates*, then springs the ultimate surprise on her: Would she be willing to take on the role of his fake fiancé in an effort to ward off his ex- girlfriend stalker? In return, he will pay off her past insurmountable medical bills. Oh, there's also the fact he's apparently incapable of love. (He just had to throw that in for good measure, didn't he? I mean, what a jerk wad!)
First reactions of anger soon fade as CJ realizes she has no other option if she wants to pay her bills. She sets about to be the chic and modern fiancé Asher asks for, but apparently you can't take the girl out of Soho... Asher's vindictive ex GF Sophie sinks her teeth into CJ which initiates a chain of events that eventually leads to Asher professing his love to CJ, and vice- versa.
I despise spoilers so I won't delve into how the book ends. Lets just say Asher leads a suprising double life that will no involve CJ. I cannot wait to see what awaits in Focus, the second book in the series.
Completely worth the read. Check it out my friends! Annie Jocoby officially ROCKS!
CJ suffers from agoraphobia stemming from a very traumatic event that happened just six months ago. Every day she has to live with what happened and her survivors guilt. Because of her condition and not being able to venture outside, she hasn't been able to work at her career as a papparazzi photographer so is quite literally running out of money when she decides that she needs to face her fear head on instead of seeking the right help for it. Her first trip out alone in six months doesn't start too well and she ends up passing out and waking in a strange place - the home of Asher Sloane, a local billionaire. Will she accept his help? Well, she has to seeing as she cannot venture outside, especially on her own...
I have to say I found the beginning of the story a bit unbelievable, After CJ has ventured outside for the first time in six months, she has a panic attack and is rescued by Asher, even though there was a lady walking towards her when it happened.. Especially in New York, I would have thought that somebody would have helped there & then rather than just taking her from the scene. Then when she wakes up in his apartment, she wants to stay there because she is attracted to him even though she is scared and confused, and she has sex with him practically straight away; it just felt a bit odd.
Nonetheless, Asher eventually helps her to leave and helps her with slowly overcoming her fears. Asher has a proposition for CJ in order to help with her finances and her recovery; that is, until a dinner party spells disaster for CJ when one of Asher's old flames reveals CJ's secret and she checks herself into rehab.
Both CJ and Asher had secrets of their past but these weren't revealed until later in the book. Even though I couldn't get into it at first, it did make me want to keep reading to find out what they were. Asher's secret led to a cliffhanger ending which has made me want to read the second part to find out what happens! Three of five stars for this one (though I will be reading the next!).
Received a copy from NetGalley for an honest review.
I do not really know how I feel about this book. I thought the plot was interesting and pulled you in, but then it got unrealistic and the characters fell flat. The tragedy she experienced that forced her to break down is realistic, but the then the plot just goes haywire. This concept that he needs someone to get his "stalker" off his back is so far fetched. All of a sudden she has to move in with him? Why would he offer such a fragile person to go against his proclaimed "grownup mean girl?" She is so mentally unstable that she tried to kill herself and you want put all kinds of pressure on her to help yourself? Every time a character in a book wants mind blowing sex without attachments is just a liar. He just tells her to lay down and put out and she goes with it. He isn't even sexy about it. I found myself skipping over the many sex scenes, because I just didn't feel the chemistry between them. Dirty talk is usually sexy, this was just plan yuk! The rehab she goes through to improve is developed well and seems realistic, but then she is out and she wants to know more about him. Then he sucks her in and decides tell her oh well we are done. You can't even feel for him because his character has no feelings. She "disappears" for awhile and when it is described that he is looking for her, it comes across as " oh well, I want her back", but no urgency to find her. He is supposedly a billionaire, you would think he could find her in a snap.
Then there is some editing errors. In chapter six It says they returned to her apartment after going out to eat, but the when they started having sex it was stated they were at his place and went to his bedroom. Then after the night it said he left her place? That is some major context editing errors.
I can't give it two stars because there was some good story writing and it was not a four star with the unrealistic plot and context errors. I have to settle with three and I am not really sure I want to venture on to the second book.
