Possessive Small Town Alpha Kings #7

Lycan King’s Pregnant Rejected Bookish Mate: A Rejected Mate Secret Baby Shifter Romance

Rate this book
I got a job as a Lycan King's assistant-
He said we were fated mates.
Then he got me pregnant, and rejected me.

The job I applied for said executive assistant.
It didn't say anything about supernatural creatures, fated mates, or having a sexy werewolf boss growl mine against my throat.

Lycan King Aurion Ashborne is six-foot-seven of ice-blue eyes and sex in a suit.

After the first day of working for him, he calls me into his corner office. Locks the door.
His eyes flash silver and he pins me against the wall before I can say good morning.

Mate.

What follows is weeks of him taking me on every surface in his office. Biting me, claiming me. Whispering filthy promises while he takes me apart.
I stupidly, hopelessly fall for him.

I'm human, he's a Lycan King. His world has laws against this. I'm a scandal waiting to happen.

He doesn't seem to care, until his pack shows up demanding answers.

Once they arrive, Aurion announces I'm nothing, a lowly human distraction.
He rejects me as his mate and I feel the bond rip out of my chest.

So I run away, with my dignity in a chokehold.

Three weeks later, I'm staring at two pink lines in my bathroom.

I'm a human carrying a Lycan King's baby. And he will never know.

Aurion

I rejected my mate to keep her alive. The elders don't allow human mates.
They wanted her dead. So I shattered her first.

Four months later I find her. Seven months pregnant.

Rejection has turned me into a pathetic golden retriever and I don't even care.

She's human. Fragile. Mine.

She can hate me forever. But nobody touches what's mine and lives.

Lycan King’s Pregnant Rejected Bookish Mate is a fun, interconnected standalone with heavy angst and high spice. For best reading experience, start with book 1 Lycan King’s Rejected Bookish Mate!

If you’re looking for a good grovel, this is NOT it. H doesn’t JUST reject h, he also makes it seem like he slept with another woman. (Possible spoilers ahead)

This book needs some editing. Some errors were distracting. For example, in one paragraph, he has her in the master bedroom. Then two paragraphs later, he’s walking her to the master bedroom. If it were just once, I could overlook it… But it happens many times throughout this book.

So..anyway

This one was a little different because I guess there are realms. H is an Alpha King in some weird wolf realm, but then travels by a portal to come to human lands.

h has a crappy family that has stolen the inheritance that she got from her granny. She goes to work for a corporation. H is the CEO. As soon as H sees her, he knows they are fated mates. h feels the connection, too, but she’s just a human. She tries to resist H a little…at first. It doesn’t last long

They spend weeks boinking everywhere. He marks her. He makes her all types of promises. Then he gets word that bad people have found out she’s his mate. They have put a contract out on her life. So this man comes up with the most reasonable solution possible…..

He rejects her. 🙃
Umm, he doesn’t do it nicely, either. Instead of telling her about the hit put out on her…..or maybe just say he was ending things…..he decides to rip her heart out, grind it into the dirt, then set it on fire in front of people.
He even makes her think he’s sleeping with the mean girl at their office. The same mean girl who was an absolute bytch to h. H calls her names, watches her fall to the floor in pain, and just basically acts like she’s garbage.

h has these annoying friends. I guess one is mated to H’s brother. Their story must be in another book. 🤷‍♀️ H’s brother was there and heard/witnessed everything with the rejection. Brother and his wife BOTH knew the real reason H rejected h, but neither thought they should clue in the h????? Neither thought they should tell her before H rejected her? With friends like that, who needs enemies?

So….h finds out she’s pregnant.
H hops back into the portal and goes to his wolf kingdom. Now we find out he’s supposed to marry a “proper” woman. Uh huh. Clearly, OW is insane. It doesn’t take H long to figure out OW was working with his right-hand man. Once he gets that squared away, he jumps back into the portal. (Time moves differently there.)

h is like 6 months pregnant, and she’s been sick a lot. H has also been sick. So many plot holes.
H sees h and her pregnant belly. Immediately, he wants her back. 🥴🥴

h does not really push back that much. She does say some mean things, he does some nice things, then they boink. They both mark each other. 6 months later, they have a daughter, and he proposes. 🤷‍♀️

And no- Out of everything he said during the rejection, the fact that he made it seem he was sleeping with the mean girl is never brought up again. I can’t see any woman not bringing this up during the grovel. No way.

Very meh. There were so many plot holes, I was left with more questions at the end.

Unclear from one moment to the next.

As a KU member I enjoy trying new-to-me authors but this book was a test to me as it was by 2 such authors.
Im wondering if this book simply was not edited or beta-read.
From chapter one when Aurion was standing and sitting at the same moment in time… to ch 6 when Daphne is carrying something in her hands and the next moment her hands are empty… Later When Aurion has clearly forgotten Daphne has been best friends with his sisterin law for 10+ years when he refers to them as people she barely knows… then suddenly Aurion is the younger brother and Malachar the older brother.
This is book 7, it was clear in the first 6 books this series of books are not related as each has slightly different world building happening. But book 6 is awesome and made me feel book 7 - this book- would be as well simply because the characters are related.
False promise. This book is worth the read, I finished it but it did not live up to the promise of how good book 6 was.

Still dragged a bit

Possible Spoilers.
I still didn’t care for Wen in this book, lol. I understand that a lot of authors like to create a certain tension or issue that would push the couple apart. But it was just so obvious that all the MC had to do was explain the situation to the FC. It was a simple explanation. It could’ve cleared it up, but it was dragged out so long it became irritating. And then for her to threaten to disappear with his baby that set me off too (pet peeve of mine in books). She didn’t come off a strong. She came off as emotionally immature.
Overall, the score I gave was due to the MC and the friends weren’t bad in this installment either. I would still recommend it. Again, this is just MY preference.

Ufff bueno bueno bueno 💘

Now this is a novel. There was no stone left unturned. The spice pretty mild but the fact there was actual plot and world building was top tier and worth it. No knots which is hit or miss in most books. I did notice the lack of mentioning of smell and hearing for the shifters. I personally believe that is a fairly common thing to have. Definitely missed opportunities with those. Also another missed opportunity when she brought brownies. I've read stories where some shifters can't have chocolate and some can. over all if your looking for a cozy story that'll make you cry laugh and everything in between this is for you.

it’s growing on me

Alright these stories are growing on me. The fact that it was similar to a billionaire boss and secretary romance thrown in with the Lucan King, a very resistant mate bond on her part, then coupled with assassination attempts and a rejected mate bond, plus a pregnancy and of course a HEA all tied up in one. Yeah I’d say it was a good read and one I might reread again.

Treachery

Someone is watching the King while he is visiting earth. People from earth and the Kingdom are watching, trying to put negative influence on the relationship that is developing between him and his mate. Can they survive all the backstabbing from different camps until they find the traitors.
Good Adult Read.

It’s fairly long, but I enjoyed it. It’s kind of a standard faded mate book between a wolf shifter and a human girl. However, he hurt her and she took a long time to finally forgive him. I really didn’t care for that part.

Communication is key men, you all should learn it. Should be put on a shirt so it's seen always. I liked this, it was different, a book about a bookworm who reads books about supernatural romance. Oh yeah.

⭐⭐⭐✨ (3.5)

lycan kings

I love that Aurion got a story. Love him! Even though the stories are all typically the same I am okay with that. Looking forward to Bella and Kristen's stories.

2.5 stars. Absolutely needs editing! So, so many paragraph repeats! Please for the lova all that's holy hire an editor! Or at the very least READ through your own book before you publish it.
Otherwise, it has a decent plot and has potential!
