Caught between both, Isa is forced to protect the ones she loves—binding herself to the king she despises most to join his hunt for the Veilstone.
A stone that could alter their fate.
But her returning memories claw their way back, bleeding into her mind until she can’t decipher what’s truth and what’s dream. And with them, the knowledge of her second matemark. Something that shouldn’t exist.
Everything she thought she understood about fate, loyalty, and desire splinters as she’s drawn to the one male she should never want.
Between betraying Rydian and recovering a past she can’t fully remember, Isa is trapped between impossible politics, a rising war, forbidden desire, and the truth of who she really is.
Now she must choose which destiny she’s willing to burn for… and who she’s willing to become in order to survive it.
I received this as an arc read. somehow I ended up with lots of arcs in the same month and I was dying to get to this book. book 1 In the dark was my top read so far I continue to think about that book and when I finally got this book I was so excited! I absolutely love that it picks up where book 1 ends. Isa is still a bad ass who I love but Rydian is still my favorite and is still mouthwatering however how did I go from being annoyed and not liking Ren to liking his character. C.J Blaire knows how to write a story let me tell you however I had hoped she would be nicer to me at the end of this book but NO she still left me shocked and full of questions again! The Audacity. Her books are a must read!! By far my favorite series. Now I have to ask...when do we get book 3 because your killing me lol
So so good! The foreshadowing, the plot twists, the cliff hanger. ughh. I'll be impatiently waiting for book 3 after that ending. The perfect amount of spice to plot ratio. absolutely obsessed with this series
Let me start with a warning wrapped in affection: if the ending of In the Dark made you stare at the wall questioning your life choices, this book will absolutely do it again. Same energy. Same emotional whiplash. Not a cliffhanger exactly, but that final line drops like a trapdoor and leaves you whispering, “WTF?!”
This book picks up immediately where book one ends, which I loved. No recap slog, no time jump, just straight back into the chaos. While we don’t get a huge expansion of the world building, that’s honestly fine because book one laid such a solid foundation. Instead, this installment leans hard into character work, and that is where it shines.
Isa. Poor, poor, overwhelmed Isa. I genuinely did not think her life could get messier than it already was. I was wrong. Spectacularly wrong. One overbearing mate would be enough to send anyone into a spiral, but two? Absolutely unhinged behavior from the universe. And no, I won’t tell you who mate number two is. You’ll have to suffer like the rest of us.
Let’s address the obvious: yes, Rydian being her mate is not a surprise. If that shocked you, I gently ask if you read book one with your eyes open. And while Isa is drowning in impossible choices, I can’t help but feel for Rydian too. Sharing is hard. Sharing your mate? Brutal. He is, without question, my favorite character and I am begging the author not to do anything in future books to change that. I’m emotionally invested now.
Mate number two, however? Strong feelings. Very strong feelings. Mostly negative. And honestly, the fact that I feel this intensely about these characters is proof of how well written they are. No one here feels interchangeable or flat, not even the side characters. Everyone has a distinct voice, motive, and emotional weight.
This story is less quest-driven than In the Dark. The quest is still there, but it takes a backseat to Isa reclaiming her memories and dealing with the fallout that detonates across every relationship. It’s messy, emotional, and incredibly compelling.
If you loved book one, this is an easy five stars. And if you haven’t started this series yet… what exactly are you waiting for?
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Author: @author.cjblaire POV: Single 1st person Gene: Romantasy Triggers: Open door, torture, violance, psychological trauma, identity manipulation, etc. Read Time: 8-12 hours Expected Publishing Date: 3/5/2026 I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
❤️ World Building: The world building in this book was fun. We go to so many new places, if only for a short time. Mainly we are in Rydian’s castle in this book.
❤️ The Characters: I love the dynamic between Ren, Isa, and Rydian as much as I really really hate Witt! Oh, that man is terrible, I even think King Elion is more moral than Witt, and trust me, the king is NOT a morally good guy! The new character of Kalde is by far my favorite though! The other side characters stand out in this book/series and I enjoy the little glimpses into their lives as well, but it is definitely Isa who we follow, and it’s her story, and her story is fascinating and tantalizing, especially with the second mate marking!
❤️ The Story: The story was incredible! It starts off right where we left off in In The Dark (book one). I found the narrative to be sweeping in nature, that really expanded on the overall story of the series. It’s rare where I like the 2nd book better than I liked the 1st book (and I LOVED the first book), but this one really captivated me!
❤️🔥Overall: If you read and loved book one (and if you haven’t read it, you should), I think you might actually enjoy this book more than In The Dark! It was fantastic! It comes out tomorrow, so be sure to grab a copy!
🐺 Another Direwolf Fact Inspired by the direwolves: Until recently, the morphology of the skull and skeleton of the dire wolf suggested that its ancestors split from a common Asian ancestor to today’s gray wolves (Canis lupus). Emerging genetic data on several dire wolf specimens suggest that, surprisingly, they were not closely related to gray wolves, but had a closer relationship to today’s jackals. (@nationalparkservice)
I absolutely loved In the Dark. I did a re-read to get ready for the next book- and yep, I still loved it! Markings of Fate was a strong second installment to Isa’s story. This book had world building, new characters, and a journey through recovered memories.
I found myself incredibly irritated with Isa’s decisions and her inability to think things through. She was reckless in some of her decisions.
One of the things that I wanted more of in the first book was more of Ren’s story. Well- I got that and then some. One of the twists in Markings of Fate, was the revelation of Isa having two fated mates, one from each realm.
I also found myself being drawn more towards Ren instead of Rydian. I wanted Ren and Isa to be able to rekindle their love and have their HEA. While I loved this story- I wanted more drama in the two fated mates scenario. The author went the “why choose” route; and I just feel like Isa should pick. I feel like there needs to be more inner monologue and a terrible decision for Isa.
I’m not a fan of “why choose”, reverse harem trope. I just don’t think you can have all encompassing love with more than one person.
Even though I didn’t like the why choose path, I loved the rest of the story. The political intrigue. The betrayal and the deceit. The revelation of a love lost.
I will finish this series, because I’m hoping that the author will decide to write Isa with a one true love and a decision to make. And even if she doesn’t- I still want to see how the story ends.
This book is great if you enjoy the following: 📚Lost and Found Identity 📚Recovered Memories 📚Fated Mates x 2 📚Touch her and die 📚Political Intrigue
This ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
If I could rate this more than 5 stars ⭐️ I would. I was an ARC Reader for the first book as well in this series and I have to say this duet is one of the best romantasies I’ve ever read. Right off the first sentence in the book I was already hooked! The spice in this book is definitely on another leveling and I was here for it 😌. The plot was amazing Isa is definitely the definition of strong female rage and I loved it!
I loved how much Isa cared for Rydian and Ren but deep down I feel like she has a Deeper love for Ren because of their past together which in the book she slowly gets those memories back. I felt so bad for Ren that he had to life through his life not knowing when he would get Isa back.
If you would ask me if the tension between Ren and Isa was a slow burn I would definitely say no haha because the entire book C.J. Blaire made you think omg it’s happening it’s happening and then boom it didn’t happen 🤣 but when it finally did happen it was SPICYYYY 🌶️🤭.
I honestly wished it was multiple povs because I really wanted to know what Ren and Rydians were thinking throughout the book BUT she did give us a chapter at the end with Rens POV and of course it had to be a cliffhanger 😭.
Overall yes I know 2026 just started but this is definitely in my top 10 favorite books I’ve read so far this year.
⭐️ARC DISCLAIMER⭐️
Last thing I want to thank C.J Blaire for allowing me to read this masterpiece before her release date. I truly enjoyed in the dark and markings of fate she is an amazing Author. I will continue to promote her work because I truly believe this is one of the best romantasies I’ve ever read.
Huge thanks to C.J. Blaire for the ARC of Markings of Fate. I was already hooked after book one, but this installment? It leveled up. Usually, the second book in a series can feel like a "bridge," but this felt like a deep dive straight into the emotional wreckage of these characters.
Isa is caught in the absolute worst kind of tug-of-war between two powerful men and a past that won’t stay buried. Watching her memories of Ren slowly flicker back to life was easily my favorite part. As a visual reader, I could practically see the contrast between her life with Rydian and the painful, deep-rooted connection she has with Ren. My heart actually ached for him—the idea of him waiting all that time, not knowing if or when she’d ever come back? It made their scenes together hit ten times harder.
This book is heavy on the yearning and the "duty vs. desire" trope, which is exactly my brand of chaos. Isa is walking a razor-thin line, and the stakes in Aurelia feel so much higher this time around. The politics are messy, the tension is suffocating, and the world-building expanded in a way that made the looming conflict feel inevitable.
I’m a total mood reader, and the "mood" here was dark, addictive, and completely consuming. I pulled the classic "just one more chapter" move until it was way too late and I realized I’d finished the book. I’m left with a massive book hangover and a desperate need for the next one.
If you’re into dark romantasy with high stakes, political intrigue, and relationships that make your chest tight, you need this series.
I knew before I even immersed myself into the story, that I would be hooked. CJ doesn’t just have a way of pulling you in…she wrecks you in the most beautiful way.
Isa is an heir, a pawn, and a girl forced to sacrifice everything for the people she loves (even Rydian). Watching her bind herself to the king she despises was heartbreaking, and the weight of her choices pressed down on every page. The political tension, the looming war, and the constant feeling that no choice comes without loss made this book impossible to put down.
Her returning memories are haunting. They blur the line between truth and dream until even you don’t know what to believe. Regardless of Isa’s choice to bind herself to Elion for the greater good of their realms, Rydian’s love for her is unwavering. He is possessive and gentle wrapped in one. And the forbidden desire between Isa and Ren is painful, slow-burning, and devastating in the best way. The revelation of a second mate-mark shattered everything Isa thought she knew about fate, loyalty, and herself.
This book is emotional, dark, and absolutely addictive. It left my heart aching, emotionally damaged, and desperate for more.
This story thrives in the in-between spaces: ⚔️ Between loyalty and betrayal 🔥 Between duty and desire 👑 Between who Isa was and who she’s becoming
Markings of Fate by C.J. Blair is everything I needed after that brutal cliffhanger in book one.
Book two raises the stakes in every way- emotionally, romantically, and politically. Isa is finally beginning to reclaim the memories that were stolen from her, and watching her process the truth about her past, her power, and her destiny is both heartbreaking and empowering. Her anger feels earned, explosive, and incredibly satisfying, especially as she starts to understand just how much was taken from her.
The romance is where the book truly shines. The tension, the secrets, and the complicated bonds between Isa, Rydian and Ren kept me completely hooked. The mate dynamics add depth rather than drama for drama’s sake, and I loved how the relationships were handled with honesty, emotional weight, and consent. Isa’s guilt, longing, and strength all feel very real.
On top of that, the action is fantastic- fast paced, intense, and perfectly balanced with characters development. Fate is clearly at work here, and watching the pieces move toward the unification of the kingdoms is incredibly satisfying.
🌶️ Spice level 3.5/5- well written, passionate, and memorable without overwhelming the story.
If you love romantacy with high stakes, powerful fmcs, fated mates, and morally complex relationships, this book is a must read. Do yourself a favor and read book 1 first, the sequel hits so much harder because of it.
Let me start off by saying this book was phenomenal! I love everything from the characters, to the world building and the love triangle🥵so freaking hawwwt! I’m not usually a fan of the Why Choose trope, but CJ Blare writes it so well!🤌🏻
Markings of Fate picks up where In the Dark left off - Isa reveals herself to be King Elions daughter and everyone is shocked. She has to make a quick decision - risk losing her recovered memories or enter a Blood Oath. She makes the oath and is allowed to go to Aurelia with Ren under the guise that she’s going to spy for King Elion. Little does he know that she’s planning on bringing down his Kingdom and will stop at nothing to try and find her mom and recover the rest of her memories.
Isa is still a badass, a lucky badass as she’s mates to 2 men who happen to be utterly obsessed with her. Her determination to be reunited with her mom tugged at my heart.🥹Rydian is definitely my favorite MMC, there is something about a Shadow Daddy that makes me weak in the knees. Plus, it’s he’s pretty damn hot when he’s ☠️ men for his mate. We got to see more of Ren and honestly I’m glad - we see a different side of him that opens our eyes to his feelings for Isa.
Will I be reading book 3? Fuck yes!! I’m emotionally invested in the story and characters.
Thank you to the author @Cj Blare🫶🏻for the eArc, your writing is amazing and I can’t wait for the next book to drop!!

ARC Review: Book two of the series starts with everyone reeling from Isa’s declaration that she is a daughter of both realms. Her “father” aims to exploit this and marry her off to Rydian, not knowing their existing relationship. Ren is sent as an informant, as the King doesn’t know his loyalty is also to Isa. With two mate marks, Isa doesn’t know where her heart belongs, who her mates are, and what her future holds. As she works with Aurelia to find the veilstone, answers start to come to light.
Ren’s story takes more of the forefront and we learn about his background through glimpses of Isa’s memories and Ren’s disclosure. The whole series Ren has stood by and “hated” Isa, when in reality he was staying as close as possible to protect her. I can’t fathom the pain he went through and his yearning is written to perfection.
We meet a variety of new characters that enhance relationships across the board. We get environmental development for Aurelia, whereas book one gave us the development of Elderheim.
Review wise, my heart may never recover from this one. Every chapter leaves something to be desired and pulls you into the next chapter. But to not spoil anything, I can’t reveal anything more. Just read this one!!
I just finished reading this book only a few minutes ago and I feel like I'm in shock. I arc red for CJ Blair's first book in this series and then for markings of Fate as well.
this book was truly such a journey. I really appreciate it because the author had put in a summary about the first book, which I am always a big fan of when they do that. I will say though that if you're reading the first book and go right into the second, then you're continuing right where it left off. I read the first one quite a few months ago so I feel like it took me a minute to remember who everyone was. oops. xD
I'm not going to lie. I wanted to slap all the characters with a flip flop quite a few times because I wanted them to just freaking talk to each other and find solutions instead of walking around each other. some things were obviously solved in this book, but I still have many questions and I'm excited for the next one.
I will say there were moments in this book that sometimes did feel a little bit on the slow side, but CJ Blair always has a purpose for that because at some point she will reveal certain things to you. but she sure damn well makes you wait and makes the characters work for it.
OMG! I am so glad to be an ARC reader for this series! The way I kept gasping left and right! This story is truly a page-turning, emotional roller coaster! After the cliffhanger of In The Dark, I was so eager to dive back into the world of Isa. I ate this book up, the spice to plot ratio was PERFECTION!! The best part….there’s not just one but TWO mates! ( there’s gotta balance for the realms 😉 ). Also, we need to just take a moment to talk about Isa? She is so strong. Her storyline is so devastating yet so empowering. One of my favorite aspects of the book and this series is that we’re following the main character's self-discovery as Isa continues to fight to learn more about her forgotten past.
Every character in this series was truly phenomenal. I fell in love with each and every one. Oh, and don’t even get me started with the world building…✨*CHEFS KISS * 🤌🏻✨. If you’re looking for a spicy dark romantasy with lots of tension and yearning, you are honestly in the right place. This is honestly my read of the year, and I cannot wait to get my hands on book 3.
What the actual hell—this book is just as good as the first one.
I went in a little hesitant because I loved Book 1 so much, and when I found out this was a why-choose, I was nervous. But wow… the way the author handled it was phenomenal. Nothing felt forced, everything fell into place naturally, and it completely worked.
This installment leans more into political intrigue and missions, which adds depth but also creates intentional confusion—and that’s actually a strength. Isa is getting her memories back while simultaneously trying to figure out what’s real, who to trust, and where she truly belongs. The disorientation mirrors her internal struggle perfectly and pulls you even deeper into the story.
And the men… listen. I don’t even know who I’m supposed to be rooting for—but if I’m being honest, I’ve always been Team Rydain. The way he’s written? He had me kicking my feet and giggling. I want one of him, immediately.
The romance, the plot, the emotional payoff—it all hits. And then there’s that cliffhanger. Again. Why does this author keep doing this to me? I need Book 3 like yesterday.
OH MY STARS!!! This book had me HOOKED from the first page. It picks up exactly right where book 1 ends and so much happens within that very first chapter, that just kinda sucks you right in. There are secrets, lies, oaths, and anything you ca think of in this. The secrets…. OH MY GOD the secrets!! There are so many of these and we (as the readers) aren’t privy to them because the book is told from our FMC’s POV and she is in the dark as well, so that leaves us in the dark with her. I so very badly want to get into the heads of our two MMCs (yes that’s right, 2! 🤭). I need to know what they are thinking, and what conversations they are having. Like the secrets and betrayals keep coming up until the very last page. The ending.. THAT ENDING!!! I thought our questions would be answered, but now I have so many questions, and there are characters backstories we need to hear (which I think I’ll happen in book 3 👀). The ending had me spiraling and crashing out at what was happening. I truly couldn’t believe what I was reading. Such a great book (and I think the series is getting better book by book) and I cannot wait for when book 3 comes out! ☺️
The first book had me by the balls if I had any and now this…book 2 throws you into a battle of will power, witt and unleveled secrets to unravel. Betrayal at its most refined, raw, profound, and gut-wrenching. The storyline puts you at the forefront, and Isa had a premonition of it all along, but it was taken from her, culminating in a dramatic climax within the first few chapters, with numerous twists that leave you reeling, utterly unforeseen.
Her emotions are palpable, her resolve unshakeable, and her decisions, although rooted in a cat-and-mouse game, demonstrate her willingness to gamble with her life. Rydian, Ren, and others, meanwhile, view her with a deep sense of hurt, each holding their own secrets. The dynamics of her fated (mates) are deeply complex, with her destiny in the balance. Although I had my own speculations, I was unprepared for the plot twists this storyline had in store.
This book wrecked me in all the good ways, a novel of this caliber can. It's a masterclass in storytelling, with suspense, drama, mystery, romance, and all the royal shenanigans you can handle. The plot's like a never-ending puzzle, with new pieces and twists and turns that'll keep you guessing till the very end and yet leaves you on the edge!! Ohhh the audacity haha!
Holy. Fucking. Shit. This book. This series. I thought I could not get any more emotionally invested after In the Dark, but here we are. I’m going to try to avoid spoilers, so I will keep my review short, and to the point.
This picked up perfectly where In the Dark left off and the story of Isa, Rydian, Ren, Witt, and the rest of the gang did not disappoint.
You need to read this book. It has all the drama, all the spice, all the emotion. At one point I literally dropped my phone into the container of Trader Joe’s Canoli Dip that I was using to stress-eat mini ice cream cones because this book was just that intense. (and if you don’t know what that is then I suggest you to go TJ’s and get some so you can also enjoy this perfect snack with this perfect book)
TLDR: if you like spice, adventure, political intrigue, love triangles, and lost memories this book is for you.
🔪Family Drama 🖤Love Triangles 🍾Lost Memories 🖤Assassins 🔪Magic
You know when you read book and it's good, and then you read the second book and it's even better than the first? Well, you're welcome. :)
In 'Markings of Fate', CJ Blaire's second book in the Unbound Fate series, the story picks right up where book 1 ended. Without giving away too much, there's political intrigue, revelations, and questions answered (which leads to more questions). The writing is good and you will be pulled in the moment you start reading.
I highly recommend this and book 1 "In the Dark" if you are a fan of romantasy, fantasy, romance, magic, found family, and more! I cannot wait to read book 3 and see where it goes!!

Spoiler Comment (read at your own risk)
I do have to mention this...the book ends up having the reverse harem trope. Personally I am not a fan of this trope and rarely read a book that has this, but how it's developed in the story fits the plot and makes sense. Even if that turns you off, give this book a chance - it's still really, really good!
I’m honestly blown away by this follow-up to In the Dark. I already liked the first book, but Markings of Fate really dug deeper and made everything feel fuller. The first book laid the groundwork for the world and characters, and this one built on it in a way that felt natural. I was locked into Isa emotionally the entire story — her frustration, confusion, and hurt. Experiencing the reveals alongside her, with the memories slowly coming back and seeing how she handled each truth, made the story even more engaging. If you loved Throne of Glass but wished it was spicier, this series will probably hit for you. Rydian reminds me of Dorian Havilliard — witty, charming, a little flirty, but still carries authority — while Ren has Rowan Whitethorn energy: harder around the edges, selfless, protective, and very much the warrior type. And Isa is more like Lysandra, surviving a traumatic past, and recognizing her strengths. In the Dark ended on a brutal cliffhanger, but this one just left me hungry for the next book and really excited to see where the story goes.
👏👏👏 WOW! CJ Blaire has done it again!!! The story takes an epic turn, and the heat is kicked up! I love how the story is able to keep your attention and want more with every turn of the page. The FMC Isa is such a power house. I love her boldness and how she's not some damsel in distress. I cannot spoil anything. ...but I have two favorite MC characters now...iykyk .. 😉. Over all the story is well written. A perfect blend of adventures, romance and some bad ass fighting. The plot and climax of the story flow beautifully and leaves you with a feeling of excitement and anticipation for the next book! Not to mention the spice is chefs kiss delicious.. 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🥵 CJ Blaire has been a favorite indie author of mine since I read the first book of this series, I truly appreciate her dedication to her readers. Her hard work and love show with each page she writes. Bravo 🌹 👏👏! 10/10 recommend.
I am a little behind on posting my ARC reads- “Markings of Fate” by @author.cjblaire officially released on March 5! This is one I have been waiting months for and it was so worth the wait.
“Markings of Fate” is book two in the Unbound Fate series. I read book one last fall and have been so impatient for this release. And this one left me impatient for book three!
Romantasy ✔️ Immaculate World Building ✔️ Fated Mates ✔️ Touch Her and D!e ✔️ Morally Complex Relationships ✔️ Political Intrigue ✔️
I think my favorite thing about both books is the characters and their development. I am so invested in every character.
If you want a book where the spice is spicing, the story is gripping, the characters are well-developed and you appreciate a why-choose story, this is for you!
Thank you C.J. Blaire and @hawthorn.and.aster.services for allowing me to read “Markings of Fate”!
I can guarantee that if you loved book one, you'll die for book two. The same vibes and energy. The whiplash is real. I honestly don't know what to do with myself while I (im)patiently wait for book three. That ending wasn't as big of a cliffhanger as the first but I'm still feeling from the very last sentence. I just wanna know!
Rydian is perfect as always. I love that he's her mate. I will always love him as a LI for Isa. He is just top tier in this book for me. I need more of him.
The second mate? Absolutely a delight. I love him just as much as Rydian. My heart complete broke for him when he told Isa everything. I was so sad. But as a LI, he is also a great choice.
Poor Isa, trying to put the puzzle pieces together and find out the secrets of the memories she doesn't have makes me so sad for her. She's still such a badass though and I'll die on that hill. This girl is at the top of my list when it comes to FMCs.
King Elon, her father, is still trash. I cannot stand the man. What he promised her and the actual outcome...I can't even. I was furious. I wanted his head on a stake right then and there.
The spice? Absolutely wonderful. I could never do it but I found I liked the "watching". The river scene...I have no words for it. If you know, you know. Can we have more scenes like that in book three? I really don't know who I would choose as the main LI for her. Can we just have both without having to choose?
Overall, this book completely sucked me in just as much as the first. If you haven't read this series yet, what are you even doing? I suggest you run, not walk. I need everyone to be as obsessed with this as I am.
I had the privilege of getting Markings of Fate as an ARC. I absolutely loved book 1 & just knew C.J. Blaire was going to blow me away with book 2 & I was right.
Whew. What a ride. I finished Markings of Fate and it was SO good. From the first chapter it had me hooked, needing just one more page every time I tried to stop. The twists blindsided me in the best way, and the relationships I was secretly hoping for started slipping into place and I was eating it up. The politics stay messy, the tension stays high, and Isa being trapped between loyalty, desire, and a truth she can't fully remember had me stressed out in the fun way. Then the plot bombs hit and I just sat there like... excuse me?? And that ending. A cliffhanger that left me with way too many questions. I need book 3 ASAP because I'm not okay.
So dang good. Markings of Fate picked up right where book 1 left off. Isa was grappling with the decisions that she made leaving Rydian questioning everything. However quickly everything fell into place and the story unfolded beautifully. There were secrets, lies, and betrayals through this book that had me frequently gasping!
Isa, Rydian, and Ren fought hard in this book and I think they came out on top. (For now) Hopefully at some point these poor souls get a break! They were thrust from one task to another and their character developments were so fun to read. I knew I was right about Ren at the end of book 1 and the slow burn for him and Isa paid off BEAUTIFULLY!! Rydian as always loved Isa fiercely and boldly showing anyone and everyone he would burn the worlds for her if needed.
This book is so good just like the first one! It is definitely one of my favorite series I’ve ever read…though in this one it leaves off on kind of an ultimatum that has not been given YET but will be? Personally I would be so happy if it stays as a why choose romance and she doesn’t have to pick but the way this one ended I do not know if it will stay that way 😭😭😭 I know who I would want her to pick if it came down to it though…but I guess we will have to wait and see who she picks if she HAS TO PICK OTHER WISE I SAY WHY CHOOSE! Ren has been yearning for years and enduring pain while watching Isa slip away from him 😮💨😮💨😮💨 this book has so many twist and turns and reveals that it’s crazy! I 1000000% recommend you read this series the world building, character depth, and story line are so well written it actually feels like you’re right there with the characters!
Being an ARC reader has its down sides....example....I need book 3 NOW and this book is set to release March 24th!! The upside is that y'all have time to read book 1 "In The Dark" and be ready for the release of Markings of Fate!!!
The Unbound Fate Series is perfection. We have two fated mates, stolen memories, a badass FMC who is in her late twenties, two of the most delicious MMC's, and magic.
As we continue on Isa's journey, we have so much more revealed to us and her. More found family, more banter, more political intrigue, more betrayal, and more spice!! The spice doesn't overshadow the plot and it is deliciously steamy and explicit.
Me and Miss C.J. Blaire need to have a conversation about that cliffhanger in the epilogue (so read it) and that very last sentence though!!! My brain melted and I stared at the wall for 20 minutes.
As much as I complain... I do love a good cliffhanger....just don't tell her!!! 🤫
Thank you CJ for once again granting me an ARC (and also emotionally devastating me).
This series just keeps getting juicier. Our girl, Isa, continues to battle with the weight of the world on her shoulders. Is she impulsive? Sure. But she gets things done. Homegirl also has lots to process as she uncovers her missing memories and finds out just how little of herself has been leftover. I love the found family she gets to build in this story. There are also many elements of not knowing exactly who to trust, which makes for an interesting page turner! The best part of all though? The tension and yearning radiating from Ren. I found myself always wanting more information from him, wishing we could dig into his mind for answers. He will not disappoint.
After the first book I wanted to be in book 2 to see where the story went. And Wow. I was not expecting what we got and now I can’t wait until book 3!! I feel for our girl Isa truly but also…please don’t make this woman choose. Simply because I can’t choose haha. Beside having these men she has to deal with a father who is wretched. Her want for her mother is pulling my heart out of my chest! Ren is absolutely ruining me (que tears). And Rydian… book boyfriend material for sure! There isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for Isa and I’m here for it. If Isa is forced to choose I just don’t even see the world existing anymore because these two men will end it to be with her. I have so so many thoughts but don’t want to spoil the whole book! So when do we get book 3?

I received this book as an ARC directly from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This series just keeps getting better! I was getting a bit annoying with Isa and her constant complaining about not being filled in and her memories coming back slower than she wanted but I also understand the angst and uncertainty was key to multiple plot lines unfolding.
There were so many twists and so much world building that was done so perfectly. I was never bored and constantly was craving to know what would happen next. Even the obvious leads of who Isa’s second mate was still constantly had surprises surrounding the truth and surrounding history.
Cannot wait to get my hands on the next book and figure out how things possibly move forward with so many surprises at the end.
