Every time I pick up a book by AP it’s at a time I needed it most and didn’t know it.
They met on the 1st day of college. He was 17 and the sole caretaker of his three year old brother. They became each other’s everything. He had no one and she came with a group of friends turned family. He gets drafted. She gets offered a recording deal. They end with the hopes of finding their way back to each other soon.
Soon turned into 7 years and well, homecoming is coming up. They both will be in attendance. She’s engaged. He’s been traded back to their hometown. Connections are rebuilt. Time lost is recaptured. There’s a spunky five year old little girl and there’s Drew Drew. AP takes us on a journey that shows us love will win every time. If any two people deserved a second chance at love it was Emani and Jahlil. Two people who were truly made for each other. These men only want to live in they woman skin. Friends turned family. And a bond and connection that never faltered even with time.
Beautifully written. Filled with love. Lots of laughter. And so much you can highlight and quote. Thank you Pynnie!!!!!!
On socials I see the talk about Carson’s story. But who I’m interested in next is Normani and Tryis.
I love a celeb romance and this one was cute. The storytelling and found family element was my favorite. But I wasn’t a fan of the couple. I didn’t like how and why they initially broke up and it felt like nothing was ever addressed. Honestly it felt like a lot of the details surrounding them was skimmed over and not really addressed.
Her childhood trauma was mentioned and referenced as an aspect of her abandonment but nothing further. Which is odd since their pasts impacted the breakup.
What Jah did to her was heartbreaking- she deserved more groveling. I wanted him to fully earn her back from a decent situation at best. Gliding back into her good graces after a few interactions and finding her with a lame- didn’t love it. Especially cause now he’s coming back with more responsibilities for her to help him with. Just like she did before. So that plus the amount of pain and time it took for him to come to his senses. I wanted more for my girl.
Oh and I wanted the absolute worse for Malik, Joanna, and Sandi. But karma did her best.
This may have come after college football homecoming season, but it was right on time. I enjoyed this story from beginning to end. I always love a second chance love story especially when the couple is able to spin the block and pick back up like no time had passed and that’s exactly what Emani and Jahlil were able to do after having a hard conversation and admitting their faults so they could move forward. You could feel the love not only from this couple but also from the crew who found family within each other. I genuinely loved their bond and support of each other through it all.
This story had some serious moments and dealt with forgiveness of self and others, loving and supporting unconditionally while also making sure decisions were made from facts and not emotions or loneliness, and in affirming yourself and not allowing anyone to stifle you. Jahlil may have returned home physically, but Emani was always his home emotionally and vice versa. I loved how they poured into each other and how they took care of them kids. Jahlil and crew did a good job raising Andrew and Sanaa, but having Emani to step in and help changed the game.
One of my favorite characters was little miss Sanaa. That baby was a colorful cussing child and she kept me laughing. Even once her language wasn’t as colorful once Emani came around, it was still just as creative and hilarious with the words she used in place of the cuss words. I adored her relationship with her uncle brother Andrew. These two had an amazing bond and picked at each other like the siblings they were raised as.
I hope this isn’t the end of the Homecoming series because I think each story just gets better and better.
I am 11 books into 2026 and this was by far the funniest I have read so far this year! I loved these characters, all of them (except the ops). This friend group was #goals for real - and I love the true drama-free friendship and how they really rode for each other. Their banter and antics were literally L O L hilarious too - seriously, the comedy was 5 Stars. Even Sanaa had me cracking up and taking notes on how to give someone a good cussin' out. (It's fiction, relax) I also love that Emani didn't allow any of her hardships or the mistreatment of others to harden her- she was in no way a pushover, but she understood that just because bad things happen, doesn't make it a bad life. Now Jah did piss me off a bit because WHY didn't he do what he told her 7 years ago? That was not explained well enough for me. Additionally, there were a few other unanswered questions like what ever happened to Q the assistant? How was Joanne Emani's bestie but the other friends didn't seem to really know her? What happened with Joanne and her sister- what other punishment did they receive? Did Jahlil know John or not? It seemed like they had history but it was never flushed out. And did they ever tell the kids and Aunt V about the new addition and if so what was their reaction? The characters were great. The laughs were top tier. The unanswered questions and the editing, not so great. Definitely worth a read though and I really enjoyed it. I hope we hear more from this cast of characters in the near future.
This was my favorite Homecoming season yet. From the prologue, I was hooked by Emani and Jahlil’s story—college sweethearts separated by broken promises, time, and life, only to find their way back to each other years later at Homecoming.
I love a good second-chance romance, and this one delivered. Watching Emani and Jahlil have the hard conversations, take accountability, and intentionally rebuild their relationship was heartwarming and satisfying. Once they found their way back, their love felt natural, deep, and well-earned.
Emani finding healing within Jahlil’s family—especially reconnecting with Andrew and bonding with his daughter, Sanaa—was beautiful to witness. It was clear she was the missing piece the Savage family needed. I also appreciated the emotional depth of this story, from learning not to lose yourself for love to understanding the impact of unprocessed grief. Aunt Vi’s advice was especially powerful.
Aubree Pynn did an excellent job weaving love, growth, and healing into every page. This story was full of heart, and I truly hope this isn’t our last Homecoming season.
I laughed, I cried and giggled immediately after. Emani was breaking my heart. I loved how AP shinned a light on how often women lose themselves in relationships. It was a gentle reminder to stop shrinking oneself so others can shine. This book was so funny and little Sanaa was my girl lol. Baby girl was very colorful and full of life. The friend group was more like a family and the children were just the perfect touch. I loveddddd Emani and Savage down but I want more of Carson. I want to know his story and I want to see him loved so deeply…….like he poured into Emani. The love on the pages was beautiful. The chemistry and the history was beautiful. This book was written so beautifully that I could visualize each scene. To have friends love you back to you is amazing. The spice was just right. Anddddddd Alexia play Jodeci Cry For You…Big Pynnie I'm begging AP I'm begging begging for Carson or whatever Jodeci said lol.
This book so super funny, but also had me in my feels. I loved everything about it!!! Please read all trigger warnings prior to reading, if you’ve read an AP then IYKYK and if it’s your first one, reading it is a MUST. The crew is more like family and the kids are hilarious. This book is hella realistic and so fun to read. The couple are perfect and I felt like I was watching this play out in a movie and not reading a book. I definitely recommend you read it and if it’s your first AP then Welcome and catch up. I can’t wait to see what she has in store next.
E.Rose & Jahlil are superstars in their own right. One is an all star basketball player, the other is one of the biggest female MCs in the game. Living their dreams isn’t what they envisioned without each other. Homecoming reunites them back with their circle and back to each other.
I loved how Emani Rose rediscovered her passions and herself after all the trauma she endured. She’s no nonsense but tolerated it because she didn’t think she will get the love she deserves.
Beautiful story of love, protection, and family rekindles and flourishes.
Not only were Rose & Savage locked in, so was I! I could not put this book down. I absolutely loved how the story was told, how the characters were developed, and that I for a glimpse of the continuation of their stories. Savage did not play about his Rose!! Sanaa was hilarious and Andrew was a joy to watch mature. The friend group was everything and I hope we get to see more!! If not, this was a worthy ending to this series.
I lovedddddd. Pynnie did it again. I love the way it transitioned beyond homecoming. It serves that artists are allowed to do and create outside of the expected norms.
Jahlil & Emani did it for me. This one goes up there with MFTS/AYGLM/ & the WAGS series. Little miss Sanaa was hilarious.
Oh and it’s 4eva F Malik, Joanna, Sandi, Janet, Tyriq and the weird little assistant from the beginning.
Everything she write is gold and this didn’t disappoint. I love it here. If my man ain’t coming behind me like Jahlil I don’t want him. These characters, this family by blood or association are everything. So many lessons learned I highlighted dang near the whole book lol. Every book dropped by Big Pynn I’m there. Yall better get into these. Great job as always Aubree.
I love a happy ending! That child was hilarious, she was so dramatic. I think my favorite character was Andrew, he was like the most balanced throughout the whole book. The lesson I took from this book is to fight for what you want and dont settle for anything less because it can cost you a great deal mentally, physically, and spiritually. Im glad Emani and Jahlil made it through to get their happily ever after.
I truly loved this book. I had not read the previous two was in the series so I will probably go back to read those. However, this one has me in a chokehold, especially with Sanaa!!! that girl had me up late reading this book because it was too funny to put down. I hope we get a spinoff to see if Carson gets his happily ever after and if Ashton doesn’t ruin any more fruit.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Jahlil and Emani have lost seven years together, but know they are back together and fighting who they need to to stay that way. I loved everything about their love story and the family they built together. Now, I can't forget about miss Sanaa, she had me laughing the entire book. Aubree never disappoint with her writing!!!
Love never truly dies when it is meant to be and regardless of how much time passed Emani and Jahlil was meant to be end goals. I love a good HEA and this book gave that.. Definitely recommend the entire series it definitely was everything.. Aubree did her big one with this series
AP is my fav for a reason. Initially i was on the fence about the MMC but she brought everything full circle and he might be my fav yet. So glad i brought a physical copy of this so i can read it again.
AUBREE!!!!!!!!!! All I want to say is ya’ll need to read Folded too. Anyways, Homecoming SZN is always a time. All my predictions were wrong LOL. When you lose what you thought was forever, you could end up losing yourself chasing what you thought you would have. Becoming a shell of yourself because it’s what people expect is so easy when you feel like you’ve lost what is worth the most to you.
The feels!!!!! Loved these two so bad! Ughhh, my heart hurt so bad for Rose. Savage came back and built that foundation back better than he left it. Little miss Sanaa and Aunt Vi was a time lol. Can Carson be next?!
Okay, they just keep getting better and better during this HOCO season-book 3 a chef's kiss. It took me a while to not feel a way about Jahlil, Emani"s love for him made me move. I loved every part of this story, and ohh, Sanaa was really 2 handfuls, oh my.
Jahlil was the definition of if he wanted to do it he would! 7 year separation be dammed lol. Emani was also not be to played with once she re-found her power! The 2 of them chefs kiss! Let’s not forget the little hellion who was smoking markers and passing out 🤣🤣 all in all I lived this series
This was truly a home coming! Jahlil and Emani Rose was always destined to be. Let them go and they will find their way back. After seven years of struggles these two did just that. Come read about how good a nurturer and leader can change a cursing child.
I could feel the history between Jan and Mani! I loved itttt. I’m glad the time apart wasn’t drawn out and they were both able to apologize and see past their mistakes. Clearly they are meant to be together. I loved his dtr 😂 the markers. I cannot 😂. Such a cute story. Their friend group is goals.

Sanaa was a trip. Lived her the most. This was a great book. This is one of this book where when you can’t find anything good to read, you double back and read this one again for comfort. Definitely a re-read in the future.
I just loved every part of this story about friends to lovers to frenemies to love of each other lives. Jahlil and Emani and the whole crew took me on a ride on what it’s means to have family.
