This book, like the others before it, is surprisingly sweet and cozy for a book about bringing down a cult of very bad men. There are some heart wrenching moments, but we get to watch Kit and Penny fall even more disgustingly in love. The writing in this series is SO well done, the characters are so well fleshed out, that you love who you are supposed to love and HATE who you are supposed to hate (looking at you, Anders!). The romance is so sweet in this one, but THAT ENDING took me out 😭😭😭😭

It's been a few months since I read Solemn Vows so I thought my feelings were safe... but those old wounds opened right back up when I saw the fallout from the third oath.
Sacred Orders hit me with that sweet sweet payoff for a lot of loose ends from book two. I loved getting a bit of relief while being left anxious enough to await book four's conclusion.
I see the vision. Kit and Penny are SO close to finding their peace together...but there's still time for it to all fall apart.
Thanks so much to the authors for taking me along for the ride with an advance copy. I'm leaving this review of my own accord.

I was blessed to read an Advanced Reader Copy of Sacred Orders. All opinions are my own and freely given.
Despite everything that was against them, Penny and Kit have survived the first three Oaths of the Bone Men, though not unscathed. Penny still suffers from the effects of the hemlock, and it's clear their enemies are numerous. As they embark on the Fourth and Fifth Oaths, Penny and Kit have to overcome one of their biggest adversaries yet, but they are nothing but resilient, and not even attempts on their lives will keep them down. Indeed, the more obstacles they overcome, the more their allies become clear. Penny has so much faith in Kit, and he knows that, together, they can change Ashpoint and and the Bone Men for the better. And on top of everything, Penny has never been more sure of his place at Kit's side. Their love is blossoming, Penny has never felt more content, and their future together has never been more clear. But when Penny and Kit return to Eastcliff for spring planting, winning over Penny's mother is a more daunting task than Kit could ever have guessed. And when a surprise visitor reminds him of all he has to lose, Kit is loath to bring Penny back to the dangers in Ashpoint. Kit has never been more sure of anything than he is of his love for Penny, but as he's told more than one person, he won't risk Penny's life. Not for anything. Even if it means doing the unthinkable. Oooooh, my gosh. Every time a new Bone Men book comes out I don't think it will top the last one, and then it does. And Sacred Orders is no exception. I absolutely loved this book. The cult stuff was still totally creepy, and Merrick and Anders and Violette can kick rocks. But the romance was so freaking romantic, and I just couldn't get enough.
I loved Kit in this book. He was still so stoic and steadfast. But on the other hand he was so clearly planning out his future. I loved all of the little romantic gestures he made for Penny, especially going to Stagcross. I just couldn't get over it. It was absolutely perfect. And then I loved how he was so protective of Penny, always standing up for him and being supportive when Penny had weak moments. I loved how he so easily pulled Penny from being in his head and how he loved him with everything he had. I love that Kit makes Penny feel like he can be himself without shame or hesitation.
And then I loved Penny again, too. He believes in Kit so much, and I love to see him be so confident in his beau. I loved that he would face down Merrick again and again to defend Kit to the end. I loved that Penny took charge in gathering up their friends to build the resistance, and I loved that Kit deferred to him as a leader even when Penny didn't think he could do it. I love how stubborn Penny is and that he never gives up even when it would be easier to. And I love that he insists on being by Kit's side no matter what.
These boys are just so freaking perfect for each other, and I just want them to have a happily ever after!
I really liked how the plot progressed. The Oaths are coming along and they were still dastardly but not nearly as terrible as the first three. I hated how the Fourth Oath ended, but I think Kit and Penny got retribution. And then I feel like we are getting a better sense of who Levitt is, but it makes me wonder about the rest of the Oaths and how Levitt still got to be the Right Hand. Merrick is a proper enemy now, but I really hope Kit can get the support he needs to finally turn the Bone Men towards good rather than evil.
I really loved the lore surrounding Paneus and Eeus. It was a nice mirror of Kit and Penny's relationship, and it makes me hopeful for the future.
I gotta say, the ending of this book freaking gutted me. It not only made me sad, it also made me so mad! I never thought it would end that way. I was ready to throw the book across the room! There is going to have to be sooooooo much groveling in the future. I will riot if there isn't!
But as a whole, this book might be my favorite of the series so far. Kit and Penny's mission and objectives are clear, and they have support to execute their plan. And the boys are so in love it makes my heart ache.

I liked this book, it focuses more on the characters and the world around them, while the first and second book felt like it's focus was mostly on the cult and the Oaths. Which unfortunately, for me, those were my favorite parts of the book.
Now, I'm not saying that shifting the focus to the people that live in the world is bad, it's really good cause it allows readers to see the people in the world as people and not just as Side character A and side character B.
I really enjoyed what we got to see of Rosie and Thoma, seeing both of these characters after the 3rd Oath and what it did to them and how it changes their views was very nice and fleshed out.
I will say, I felt very much like Kit when everyone is mourning the loss of life during the Oaths since the Bonemen don't have a good reputation outside of its cult and the risk of death is known when you start taking the them, but as it was stated in the book, "But seeing strangers go through the trials was very different to enduring them personally. Losing someone from town had a smaller impact than losing someone close."
I will say I was a bit more disappointed in how the next few oaths were, I dont know felt brushed over? The 5th oath more over the 4th. Since I understand that neither Kit nor Pen want to actually harm anyone or their livelihood, it makes sense for their character. But the entire time I was wondering, 'would someone who dislikes them follow them? Make sure they actually do it?' But my over thinking went nowhere.
But I will say in Exchange of a 5th oath we got a very cute proposal scene which I was very happy about.
Oh and I love the inclusion that once again, humans have weaponized religion to suit their own purposes,
I don't have much to say about the book towards the end since it was more world and character building of Pen's family, and I was disappointed that Merrick didn't stick around long, but he's a little brat anyway, and probably was looking for an excuse to not have to help.
My final note about this im not the biggest fan of the ending, but im also someone who is single and has never felt the 'I would die for you' kind of love, but I've seen in many books or fiction this NEVER goes well, and well, not that excited to see how that part of the book plays out, especially since I think book 4 will be the finale, and how Kit made Penny the defacto leader of the rebellion, then proceeds to leave him at home where he would not be happy at all and possibly in more danger without Kit around.
But I do look forward to a book 4, over all I ranked this at a 4/5 so there are things I really liked about this installment

Every time a new Bone Men book comes out I swear it can’t possibly top the last one and then it just does, and Sacred Orders completely got me because Penny and Kit have already survived so much getting through the first three Oaths and they’re still standing even though Penny is clearly not okay after the hemlock and the danger just keeps building around them, but they keep pushing forward anyway, more determined than ever, facing even bigger threats and attempts on their lives like it’s just another day, and through all of it their bond only gets stronger, Penny’s faith in Kit is unwavering and Kit is so sure that together they can actually change things, and the love between them just feels deeper and softer and more certain than ever, like Penny finally knows exactly where he belongs, right beside him, but then they go back to Eastcliff and suddenly it’s not just enemies they’re fighting but family, and winning over Penny’s mother feels like a whole different battle, and when Kit is reminded of everything he could lose it hits so hard because he loves Penny so much he’d rather walk away than risk his life, even if it destroys him, and that tension between love and protection just sits heavy the whole time while everything in Ashpoint is still brewing and dangerous and this resistance is quietly building in the background, and you can feel Kit gearing up to finish what he started no matter the cost, and the whole book just keeps you locked in with all the creepy cult energy still there, all the characters you love to hate, and then that ending… I was not okay, like genuinely gutted and angry and ready to throw something because how does it end like that, there better be serious groveling coming because I cannot deal otherwise, but honestly this might be my favourite in the series so far because the stakes are higher, the mission feels clearer, and Penny and Kit being so deeply in love while everything is falling apart around them just makes it hit that much harder.

Kit and Penny completely have my heart. In this installment, we watch them push forward with their initiation rites, diving into dark trials to uncover the truth behind the cult's deity, and forming a small but new resistance with like-minded members. What makes their journey so compelling is the absolute realities of their compromise.

Sacred Orders is book three in The Bone Men series and I loved it just as much as I loved the first two. This series just keeps getting better and better.
In the simplest recommendation: If you haven't read the first book, First Oaths, I 100% recommend it. No questions. Go find my review for that one, if you need further convincing - IT'S ABOUT CULTS! AND LOVE!
And if you've read the first two books and are wondering if it's worth it to keep going? Yes. Absolutely. You will not be disappointed.
The pace the story is progressing at is exactly what it should be. Book three was a huge turning point for both the town of Ashpoint and for our main characters, Kit and Penny. I was so happy to see Kit and Penny truly trusting each other. They have come so far together - when something happens, they share it with each other. No one is keeping secrets under the guise of protection. Additionally, they are finally being open about their relationship and it is BEAUTIFUL to see. You can just feel how much they love each other and need each other. Kit and Penny balance each other out so well.
The story of Sacred Orders takes us through A LOT. We get two oaths under our belts, and uh... one of these definitely goes better than the other. We also see Kit and Penny's return to Penny's family farm and the announcement of their relationship to his mother and sister. This visit gives us SO MUCH, plot and character-wise. About 10 minutes before I finished the book I realized what was going to happen and almost immediately started crying. My husband was VERY concerned by my reaction. That ending was a punch right to the sternum.
This series somehow manages to leave me both smiling ear to ear and sobbing into a blanket. The emotional damage I'm suffering for this series really is the best kind. You know that you have to suffer through these dark times in order to reach the light at the end. I just want to see Kit and Penny happy. And I have faith that we will get there.
If you need me, I'll be here staring at the wall until the final book in this series is in my hands.

With each book that gets released in this series, the story grows deeper, the plot thickens even more, and love continues to grow even in the face of danger.
You know, I'm not usually one for cliffhangers but these two authors know how to do them well and in a way that just leaves you wanting more. This series cannot be read as standalones, prior reading IS required or else nothing will make much sense. Please read the previous book first, its a wild ride but a very good one!
Now, onto the part where I gush about this book in particular. It was great! Just as good as the other books while also having a little extra to it, I don't want to spoil anything but so many important moments happened in this book, and I'm so excited to discover what happens next for not only Penny and Kit, but also what happens next for those back in Ashwood.
I think this release has the most romance focused plot of the series so far which I loved! I really adored being able to see Penny and Kit so in love and to see them building their relationship and deepening their feelings/connection to one another was quite beautiful.
Seeing as how I don't want to accidentally spoil anything I'll keep this short. I very much enjoyed this book and I have enjoyed seeing these two authors bring this world to life. Ah, Kit and Penny. This is going to sound like a review of all three books so far, but that’s just because I can’t talk about this one without hyping up the other two! I’m so glad I picked this series up right before this third book comes out because after the events of Solemn Vows I would have been so anxious for what happens next. This series has been absolutely incredible so far, and Sacred Orders has maintained that excellence all the way through. I think this is the perfect story to be a series because it really leaves you with time to sit with what happens, like after the second and third Oaths. Compressing any part of this would be a crime against storytelling.
The fact that this is a series with space to breathe also makes it easier to get attached to side characters. I’m not crying, you are. Levitt in particular is such a deliciously complex character! I also can’t remember the last time I read a book with a true and actual villain. I think my favorite part of this book was the trip to Stagcross. I could not stop giggling at how happy it made Penny, and I just adore this couple so much. I’ve never been one for a slow burn, but this is turning me into a big fan. The ending had me absolutely gagged, I need book four NOW!!!
Ah, Kit and Penny. This is going to sound like a review of all three books so far, but that’s just because I can’t talk about this one without hyping up the other two! I’m so glad I picked this series up right before this third book comes out because after the events of Solemn Vows I would have been so anxious for what happens next. This series has been absolutely incredible so far, and Sacred Orders has maintained that excellence all the way through. I think this is the perfect story to be a series because it really leaves you with time to sit with what happens, like after the second and third Oaths. Compressing any part of this would be a crime against storytelling.
The fact that this is a series with space to breathe also makes it easier to get attached to side characters. I’m not crying, you are. Levitt in particular is such a deliciously complex character! I also can’t remember the last time I read a book with a true and actual villain. The first two books in this series were a wild and often painful ride and I will admit I was afraid of the emotional damage book three was going to cause me. I am happy to see that CJ and Quinn were merciful and made book 3 less angsty. This book still puts Penny and Kit through the ringer, but it also focuses on their love and their growing relationship with themselves and their close friends. Sacred Orders is cozier and sweet and was a nice way to break up the heavy tension from the first two books. I really enjoyed seeing Kit and Penny's love grow deeper in this book and the strength of their character and the steel of their hearts. Kit and Penny will do anything for each other and I hope they finally getting the true happy ending they deserve in book 4. I highly recommend this series and as it should not be read as a standalone, you should start with book 1: First Oaths. You will not regret picking up this series!

Aftermath of the 3rd Oath, Penny and Kit are courting, but not everything is happy. Thoma is in mourning, Penny still have side effect from the Hemlock poison.
In preparation for the 4th Oath, our couple is assigned and stuck with Anders. Penny is sure that Merrick have something to do with it and is secretly plotting to kill them.
Rosie is dreaming of running away, and starts to question the leadership of the Cult.
Even Kit feels that he and Penny need to protect themselves, they are more cautious and need allies to destroy the Bone Men from within. They realize that more people in town feel the same as them, lied to.
Penny & Kit romance is developing, they are adorable and so in love, even in the worst context and situation. They cannot lose each other. I liked all the little intimates moment they had together.
This book felt a little bit less stressful and brutal than the 2nd book, but Kit & Penny are not safe. There is a small calm before the storm, a quiet moment at Penny’s farm, with his family. But I am scared what Merrick is preparing in the background for their return to Ashford.
The book ended with a cliffhanger, that I somehow knew would happen.
I cannot wait to continue this series and see how everything will unfold.

I've tried to review this one for days but I just don't know where to start, or what to say, but here we go.
I love these books. I love them so much. This series has me in a chokehold and I will take a bullet for these characters. Which is why reading these books hurts SO MUCH. Others have tried to tell me that this one wasn't so bad, there's not so much angst in it, but uhm excuse me were we even reading the same book???? Because let me tell you, I CRIED. I cried A LOT. And yeah, sure, this one had SO MANY sweet moments. Kit was the most darling sap one could dream of and Penny standing up for him was PERFECTION, but the pain inbetween??? THE TEARS I CRIED??? And you tell me IT IS NOT SO BAD???
Liars. All of you.
Anyway. The review. Yes.
So in this one we get to follow these sweet little baby birds as they get closer with each other, face even more dangers within the cult, and most importantly, dare to show the world what they mean to each other. Which you know, puts them in even more danger, but at least they are facing it together, yeah? They make new friends, Kit dares to accept that they don't have to work alone, and there's like cuddles and reindeer and cuteness and okay okay maybe you're right maybe it is A TAD less painful than the first two but I still cried A LOT and I am absolutely terrified of what will happen in the next one but I ALSO know I couldn't stay away even if I wanted to so I will be there and I will read it and I will cry just as much (if not more) as I did while reading this one.
But it really was sweet. Between the pain. And yeah I don't think I could possibly love them more than I do right now. They are so disgustingly cute together and Kit is such a sweet man now when he's not so damn stubborn and Penny is a hothead but he's OUR hothead and we love him. And we'd very much like it if he punches his HALF-brother again.
Now I just need Lev to come to his senses so they can save the day together and like. Not die. Please.
I love them. All of them. (Except for the ones I hate, but you know)
ANYWAY. Does this review make sense? Nope. Do I care? No. There are too many feelings for me to stay nice and professional. I'm gonna return to crying until the next one is out. And then probably continue crying for the rest of my life because next book means it's over and I'm not ready to say goodbye to ANY of them.
But yeah. Go read this series. The pain is worth it, I promise.

Dearest Gentle Reader,
I’ve learned that the best course of action when reading a new Quinn Cameron penned work is to clear your schedule for the day and lock in. From the first few pages I was sat. Devouring the novel in a single sitting.
This series is so enjoyable. A true cozy fantasy. Kit and Penny are absolutely adorable together. Glimpsing in on their domesticity, it’s easy to forget it’s against such a macabre backdrop.
I really enjoyed the direction this book took the characters (for the most part). It was satisfying seeing so many become empowered to make a change in the community. I also really appreciated the generosity of many of the new characters Penny and Kit interact with. The kindness they’re shown by strangers is the salve we as readers (and, I’m sure the boys) needed after the utter hell Merrick and Anders have been giving them.
Kicking my feet giggling at Kit calling Penny his husband!!! They’re both too cute! And what I wouldn’t give for them to just stay in that artisan town and live peacefully ever after. But of course, no such luck.
On that note: How DARE you, Tuma and Cameron, force Kit and Penny into such close proximity with Anders!
I just know Merrick put Anders up to murdering Penny. He likely gave him the idea that the cruelest method would involve fire. What a sadistic fucker. Both of them. I can’t wait for Merrick to die. I can’t with how evil he is.
I eagerly await the next edition! I’m looking forward to Kit and Penny’s wedded bliss and the demise of The Bone Men and their ilk For good!

To be frank, this review is highly colored by the cliff hanger I’m currently reeling from - which should not be a deterrent for you - it’s due to how absolutely immersive and addictive this story is! I’m so enraptured by the story that I’m petulant about being denied the next developments!
So many things have been set into motion, and yet, so many things have yet to be resolved.
Penny and Kit are still reeling from their brush with death in the last Oath, and from the aftermath that’s left behind in Ashpoint.
But as with all things rotten and infected, you must continue to dig, continue to lance away disease, and the side effects are rarely anything but painful.
And yet, CJ’s masterful at growing something pristine, beautiful - achingly so - all the while destructive fires rage.
Somehow, within their little bubble, Penny and Kit forge a precious and unshakable peace with one another. Deeply devoted, and ever-accepting of the wounds each brings from their pasts, and from their current trials.
The cult is at a crossroads, even as few feel the undercurrents of change. Penny and Kit must decide how they’ll shape their futures once that change has been set into motion… if they survive it.

This ARC has me wishing time travel was real, because I need the next book immediately! Kit and Penny are building alliances and plotting the end of The Bone Men…meanwhile, I’m over here plotting which of their enemies deserve the first punch. Who should it be? Anders? Maybe even Levitt? No, definitely Merrick. Yes. Let's go with him. So many times throughout this book, I wished I could jump into the story and beat the crap out of him. Well, he and his wife, who are continuing to cause problems for Kit and Penny. So, so many problems. She is definitely on my punch list.
Despite all of this, Kit and Penny are trying their hardest to survive so they can bring an end to The Bone Men. In this book, we get to see them collect allies and watch Penny take a leadership role in the resistance. I am hoping that we can get a more detailed rundown of their plan in the next book, because the plan is still a bit vague to me.

This series continues to surprise me with how it balances such dark subject matter with genuinely tender, emotional moments. Watching Kit and Penny grow even closer while trying to survive the dangers of the Bone Men made this instalment impossible to put down. Their relationship feels so earned, especially with all the fear, uncertainty, and pressure surrounding them from every direction.
I loved seeing the deeper look into the cult and the initiation trials. The tension throughout the book constantly kept me waiting for something to go horribly wrong, especially as Kit and Penny start risking more by reaching out to others inside the cult. The paranoia and uncertainty over who can actually be trusted added so much suspense.
The characters continue to be one of the strongest parts of this series. They feel incredibly real and layered, and the author does an amazing job making you deeply attached to the people worth rooting for while absolutely despising the villains. Anders continues to be the absolute worst.
At the heart of it all though, this book is still about Kit and Penny, and I loved every messy, sweet, emotional moment between them. And that ending? Completely devastating. I need the next book immediately.

With every book in this series I fall further down the rabbit hole of obsession with Penny & Kit... They are the epitome of soul mates in a world that is bound and determined to destroy them and rip them apart 🥹.
Kit & Penny's romance is so sweet in the face of all that's wrong in the cult they have become a part of and I am so grateful for that because it makes these books all the easier to fall into and never want to leave 💯.
I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again. If you haven't started this series, it's a wonderful time to start! Tuma & Cameron will take you on a journey of bravery, sacrifice and ultimately of love 💜. It's a wonderful world of found family and finding those who love you despite everything working against your love and of finding yourselves amidst the chaos. Penny & Kit's love is extraordinary and it's an absolute joy to go along this wild journey alongside them 😍.

Ok so this is the absolute coziest series. I have loved every minute of the Penny and Kit adventures in morbid wonderland so far.
If you’ve made it to this book, you already know you love it too…
The lively taverns, the bubbling stews, the fresh breads and baked goods, the flickering candlelight, all set to the quiet scrape of coloring pencils on paper and the tinkering sounds of blacksmithing. The setting taps all the senses while teasing you with death and dismemberment every few chapters.
You really never can get too comfortable.
And if you’re reading along with the release dates, you already know the seasons feel like they align with what’s happening in the real world. Snow was actively melting outside alongside Kit and Penny’s, which made it such a fun read.
This one had a Zelda x Stardew Valley edge to it, and I was totally here for it. Some farming, some danger, camping on the road, a cozy village vacay, a not-so-cozy, not-so-vacay getaway, and a whole lot of scheming and world building.
But the true throughline and heart of this entire plot is the most ADORING relationship between Kit and Penny.
Kit is just a swoon worthy sweetheart who would ~literally~ take the shirt off his back and freeze to death if it meant Penny was a few degrees warmer.
And Penny, a firecracker that warmed his cold heart up from the inside out and will never ever let it go.
They’re adorable and I’ll follow them anywhere.

Luckily Kit and Penny are solid, but the cliffhanger provides a new hurdle in their journey and I await to see the next installment anxiously. 4.5 rounded up

I’m absolutely terrible at writing these without wanting to talk about the entire book, which only provides spoilers! So, I’m going to keep my review short and sweet, yet again. Perhaps I’ll be able to write a lengthier review about the entire series after we finish the journey in the fourth book later this year.
I just absolutely adore Kit and Penny. Simply put.
The slow build-up with these two has been agonizing for me, but at the same time, it was so completely relatable (I see you Kit). But the world building in this entire series is just amazing and although it’s harsh at times, it’s so incredibly beautiful. These two sweet boys had me all kinds of swooning in this book, which was a welcome change considering CJ & Quinn had be ugly crying more than once during the second book.
This journey Kit and Penny are on is such a wild emotional rollercoaster. It’s swoonworthy, beautiful, infuriating and heartbreaking over and over again. I’m not even going to touch on the ending of this one, but I will say that the anticipation for the final book is ridiculously high at this point!!

Another rite down a plan starts to form
So this story has Bern a very slow burn but the relationship itself HS evolved very quickly....not sure if that even makes sense but this book has been full of things that don't fit a mold. This is book three and things are finally progressing towards an end goal.
This book includes more drama with the half brother. More near death moments. More lingering effects if the hemlock. More traveling which honestly is getting very repetitive.
This book did not need to talk about that cough in what felt like every chapter. We get it the cough sucks and is made worse by cold and exertion. Yes we get that it is worrisome but I don't need it repeated this much.
The whole trip to Stagcross was adorable.
It was nice meeting the family at the farm but that ending made me mad. I get it but also it feels a bit out of character.
Ill read the fourth book but I hope we get something more exciting and less repetitive. I'm intrigued to see what the reaction to that ending with be.

This is the third installment in The Bone Men series by C.J. Tuma and Quinn Cameron. I will simply never understand how they’ve written such a miraculously, mind-bendingly sweet (with a capital S) and cozy story about a bone-stealing, murderous death cult that flays people alive in the town square. You just have to trust me on this.
Getting to watch Penny and Kit fall into and grow their love over the course of three books has been such a pleasure. They are so unbelievably gentle with each other’s wounded, guarded hearts.
In Sacred Orders, bridges are burned, alliances are formed, a resistance begins to rise, long-held and highly consequential secrets are revealed, and futures are seemingly cemented, for better or worse. (And of course, pastries are baked and kittens are cuddled.)
I’ve never been accused of being a very patient person, so not as much was revealed in this book as I wanted, but I have no doubt I’ll be left speechless by Last Rites. I cannot wait to read the big conclusion. I need to see Penny and Kit get their happily ever after. Goodness, do they deserve it!

Oh this was the swooniest! Kit and Penny have a beautiful connection and the author allows us to explore it with them, they are in sync and even when situations arise where Kit has something to say to Penny like on behalf of Thoma, he doesn’t hesitate he is secure. He is also such an incredible caretaker and so thoughtful, Kit is the swooniest. Also o loved seeing another side of Penny emerge, he is surer taking steps ahead, building a community for the cause and also his protective side for Kit oh good lord that is phenomenal I did not expect it at all!
There are things happening around the whole plot as well with Merrick and Levitt and that utter ass Anders - a lot of it is unexpected and keeps you fully hooked and invested
The cult is as toxic as ever the oaths sending ripple effects outside the community now. Which we can see bother Kit and Penny both. And what Kit said at the meeting is true and I never saw it like that
I need to know what happens next - where we left off… I’d like the next book now please 😂

Penny is on another level in this book, and Kit? Still absolutely wrecking me in the best way. Their relationship keeps growing, but the pressure is real — everything around them feels unstable, dangerous, and one wrong move away from disaster.
The oaths take a turn here, and not everyone is on the same page (looking at you, Anders 🙄). The tension, the uncertainty, the who can you even trust energy — it’s constant and it works.
But what really makes this book hit is the balance.
In the middle of all the chaos, you still get those softer moments — the vulnerability, the connection, the them. And yeah… I was fully swooning more than once.
Kit opening up more? Penny being completely gone for him? Say less.
The stakes are higher, the world keeps expanding, and you can feel everything building toward something big.

The cozy vibes were definitely strong in this book. The authors did a beautiful job portraying the love between the two characters without relying too heavily on spicy scenes (which happens a lot in romantasy). Those moments were much more toned down here, and honestly, I think that worked really well.
A big part of the story takes place on Penny’s farm, and I loved that his family got more attention this time around. It gave the family dynamics more room to grow and feel meaningful. I also really enjoyed seeing the rebellion slowly starting to build in the background.
Even though the story developed in an interesting way, I have to admit it didn’t pull me in as much as the previous book did. And the ending… that was honestly really frustrating for me. I understand why the authors chose to go in that direction, but it still left me finishing the book with a pretty bitter feeling.

I was given an ARC of this novel. I have been reading this series from the first book, and as always, really enjoyed it. This entire novel felt very much like the "middle" of the overarching tale in a strong way. There's a lot of much needed tenderness and character growth between Kit and Penny. I can see them transforming into the best versions of themselves because of their relationship, as well as their ties to other people who matter to them. I'd also like to acknowledge that I like what the authors did with the gods. I think it takes this from the realm of fantasy romance into a bit of the literary zone because it's really, really saying something about what it is to be queer in spiritual/faith spaces.
A strong book, major cliffhanger. Can't wait to see how this series develops & concludes.

In exchange for an honest review i got to read the ARC Version of Sacred Order by C.J Tuma and Quinn Cameron by the Authors.
As they tries to lay behind them the events of the third oath that nearly killed them both Kit and Penny has to deal with more of the wrath pointed at them by Penny's half-brother that is determined to destroy them both. But as time goes by they both find it that they arent alone in the want to destroy or at least change the way the cult is ran as more and more people gather behind Kit and Penny as the next few Oaths are almost upon them. With the loss that Thoma grievs he rails behind them and promise to help them in finding a way to take down the cult but also in a way to keep their community still intact afterward, as the 3rd book is leading toward the 4th book where it seem the last showdown might be happening much is still in need of resolve but the chemistry between the characters gets more intense, book 3 aren't as heavy as the second book were but it does give some great moments both between Penny and his half brother Maveric and moments with Thoma that has become my fav. Characters of this story. I will deffently be on the lookout for book 4 when it comes out becuse I need to know how it all will end if there will be a happy ending for Penny and Kit and if they will succeed in taking down the Bone Men Cult that seem at times too strong.

I don’t even know where to start with this one!!! In a good way I promise but there is just soooo much to unpack!!!
Kit and Penny are just the cutest couple ever and seeing that relationship thrive and survive in a place like Ashpoint is just proof that bad things can’t smother good things!!
The story development in this book is significant as we move through two trials! Plus penny brings Kit home as his significant other! Swoon!!
But the ending - just be prepared! Tissues and chocolate at the ready!!! I both need to know and dread to find out what happens pens in the final instalment!!! If these two boys don’t win the lottery, a point and a house by the end then I’m gonna be mad cos they deserve everything!!
