Fantastic Story & Narration🎧Thrilling & Riveting!

Code Name: Ember
Jameson Force Seattle, Book 1
By: Sawyer Bennett
Narrated by: Stephen Dexter, Kelsey Navarro Foster

It is thrilling to be back in Sawyer Bennett’s amazing “Jameson Force Security” world again for another exciting romantic suspense that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. Bennett takes you to Seattle, Jameson’s newest location, introduces new characters, has cameos of characters from the Pittsburgh office visiting, and of course there is Malik Fournier who is running the office. This story stands on its own, so if you are new to the “Jameson Force Security” you can enjoy the story, never feeling lost or like something is missing, and everything you need to know is in the details. Starting off the series is Cole Mercer and Tessa Ward’s story, an action-packed story that takes you to the edge of your seat. Cole is a former special forces operative and former smokejumper, and she is an investigative journalist and his ex-girlfriend. After witnessing what happened to the whistleblower she was getting her information from for her current assignment, Tessa was in grave danger, and not knowing who to trust or call, she called Cole, her ex. Cole’s protective mode kicks in, and he will not only keep her safe, but the Jameson team will help with that and the investigation. It was great to watch her work on her assignment with help from Jameson’s team, trying to get solid information to prove what the bad guys, powerful men with money, did and continue to do. Tessa and Cole were great together and for each other, except they needed to get past their own insecurities and differences. This masterfully crafted, multi-layered story has the perfect balance of drama, angst, action, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions, and a steamy second chance romance.

🎧📚🎧Stephen Dexter and Kelsey Navarro Foster are the perfect cast to bring these characters to life, and loved how they owned their roles, sounding believable in each. Dexter nailed it as Cole, grasping every aspect of his personality, from his caring and protective side to his fierce alpha side, and all in between. Navarro Foster was just as amazing in Tessa’s role and did the same with showcasing her personality and demeanor, also fierce. Both were fantastic at performing the roles of the side/secondary characters too. They set the ideal tone for the story, and their expressive delivery conveyed all the characters’ emotions, making you feel each one. These two make a fabulous narration team, with voices and talent that complement each other and a captivating performance that rivets you to the story. It is always a pleasure to listen to these two entertaining storytellers perform, a performance that takes the already amazing story to another level.

Review: Code Name: Ember by Sawyer Bennett

Format: Audiobook (ALC)
Narrators: Stephen Dexter & Kelsey Navarro Foster
Narration Style: Dual POV
Spice: 2/5

This was my first book by Sawyer Bennett, and it was such a fun, action-packed romantic suspense!

Code Name: Ember follows investigative journalist Tessa Ward, who uncovers evidence linking a powerful real estate developer to a series of deadly wildfires. When her source is murdered and she realizes she’s become a target, she has no choice but to turn to the one person she knows will keep her safeher ex, Cole Mercer.

Cole is an ex-military operative now working for a private security firm, and let me tell you, this man is the definition of protective. If you love a “touch her and die” hero, Cole absolutely delivers. Watching him step back into Tessa’s life after five years apart while trying to protect her from very real danger made for such an entertaining read.

I absolutely loved Tessa. She’s intelligent, fearless, and willing to take risks to uncover the truth. She felt like a genuinely strong heroine who could hold her own, even when the danger around her continued to escalate.

The second-chance romance was one of my favorite parts of the story. The chemistry between Cole and Tessa never truly disappeared, and watching them work through old heartbreak while navigating a dangerous investigation kept me invested in both the romance and the suspense. Cole’s struggle with Tessa’s career was especially interesting because he wants to protect her, but he also has to learn to respect the fact that chasing dangerous stories is part of who she is.

The suspense element kept the story moving at a great pace. Between the wildfire conspiracy, murder investigation, corruption, and trying to figure out who was behind everything, there was always something happening. It had that perfect balance of romance, mystery, and action that kept me turning the pages.

And I have to talk about the audiobook. I was lucky enough to receive an ALC, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to listen to this one early. Stephen Dexter and Kelsey Navarro Foster were spectacular. They both did an amazing job bringing Cole and Tessa to life, adding so much emotion, tension, and personality to their performances. Their narration elevated the story and made it even more engaging from start to finish.

Tropes:

Code Name: Ember by Sawyer Bennett is a romantic suspense that follows Cole Mercer and Tessa Ward. Cole is an ex-military operative, former smoke jumper, and now is working for a private Security firm, Jameson Force in Seattle. Tess is an investigative journalist, who does not shy away from the dangerous stories that most would walk away from. Cole and Tessa previously dated 5 years prior, but mutually decided to end the relationship because Cole couldn’t handle Tessa putting herself in danger to follow her career, and Tessa wouldn’t give up her career for Cole.

Fast-forward to present day and Tessa finds herself chasing the story of her career, but has put herself in danger and the only person she can think of turning to for safety is Cole. Cole immediately wants to shield Tessa and have her drop the story, but Tessa wouldn’t be who she is if she gave up that quickly.

I absolutely loved the spunk and sass of Tessa and how she complemented Cole’s seriousness and had no issue of calling him out when needed. The tension was there from the beginning, and it was very apparent that while they split, they never got over each other. I loved the second chance romance in this story. It was very apparent that they were trying to work through the old arguments, while both possibly imagining a future together. Yes, there is a 3rd act breakup, but it was a necessary one for each to really evaluate their feelings for the other and to see what they wanted for the future. Listening to Cole work through his feelings over Tessa’s career and Tessa coming to terms with what Cole had always been afraid of was one of my favorite aspects of this book.

The suspense was fun to read, and kept me engaged throughout the whole story. Listening to Tessa and the Jameson Force teamwork through everything really gave the story a realistic feel.

Audiobook Review: Stephen Dexter & Kelsey Navarro Foster did an amazing job of narrating Cole and Tessa. You could feel the emotions that the characters were dealing with, and the tension between them. This was a great audiobook that kept me listening from beginning to end.

Overall, if you love second chance romance, romantic suspense, protective hero, forced proximity, ex-military MMC and a strong FMC then I definitely recommend picking this one up! I already know I’ll be on the lookout for the next book!

Jameson Force is back—this time in Seattle—and I couldn’t be happier to dive back into Sawyer Bennett’s world. This kickoff to the Jameson Force: Seattle series is everything I love in a romantic suspense: fast-paced, emotional, and completely captivating from start to finish.

Tessa Ward is the kind of investigative reporter who doesn’t back down from the big, dangerous stories—and this time, her pursuit of the truth puts her directly in the line of fire. When she uncovers a connection between a powerful developer and a string of deadly wildfires, things escalate fast. With her source murdered and a target on her back, she turns to the one person she never expected to rely on again—her ex, Cole Mercer.

Cole, a former military operative now working in private security, is the definition of protective. If you love a “touch her and die” hero, he absolutely delivers. Watching him step back into Tessa’s life after five years—while trying to keep her alive—adds the perfect mix of tension, emotion, and second-chance sparks.

As expected, old wounds reopen, tempers flare, and neither of them backs down easily. But what they’re up against is bigger than both of them, and they’ll need the full strength of the Jameson team to survive it.

This one blends second-chance romance with gripping romantic suspense, layering in a fiercely protective hero, a high-stakes investigation, and nonstop action and danger that keeps the tension sky-high. And the audiobook? Absolutely fantastic—immersive, emotional, and perfectly performed.

🎧 Stephen Dexter and Kelsey Navarro Foster were perfect in the audio. Dexter brought Cole’s protective, alpha edge to life flawlessly, while Navarro Foster captured Tessa’s strength and determination just as powerfully. Together, they made the story feel even more real and immersive.

Told in dual POV, this story pulls you deeper into both sides, making every argument, every decision...Action-packed, emotional, and seriously entertaining—this was such a strong start to the new series.

Thank you to Sawyer Bennett and The Author Agency for the ALC and sending me to Seattle!

Jameson Force is back with a new team in Seattle and I couldn’t be happier!

This first book in the “Jameson Force: Seattle” series had me sucked in from the get-go!

An investigative reporter named Tessa Ward, who does not shy away from the “bigger” stories in order to right wrongs and expose whoever’s the reason or problem in causing said wrongs, has a lead on a story that has the potential to reveal something extremely damaging on a large corporation. Her source finally contacts her with the promise of tangible evidence that can finally help to uncover this company’s horrible wrongdoings. After meeting with her source in a parking garage, Tessa is given the information but trouble is right around the corner. Tessa’s source doesn’t realize they’re being followed and after the exchange, things go horribly wrong.

Tessa has to find a way to keep this newfound information, as well as herself, safe so she can finish up her article and get it to her editor. The only person she can think of to help her is an old boyfriend she hasn’t seen in about 5 years.
Enter Cole Mercer, who was formerly Army Special Forces, then did “Smoke Jumping” but is now one of Jameson Force - Seattle’s new recruits. Cole’s damn good at his job & is really liking his new position at Jameson. The last thing he expected though was to hear from Tessa when she calls him & asks for his help.

What happens next? Well, tempers flare; old arguments resurface and it’s sometimes a contest to see who’s being more stubborn but what lies ahead for Cole & Tessa is no easy task. They’ll need help and support from some of the rest of the Jameson team in order to get this job done.

The book is written from both Tessa’s and Cole’s POV, which makes it all the more interesting. I loved this book because it was exciting, and it was very hard to pick a side when Cole & Tessa argued. My favorite part was from Chapter 19 on, because Ms. Bennett took the story in the perfect direction and had me riveted.

I cannot wait to read more stories from Jameson - Seattle! Awesome 😎 read!!!!

**Audiobook Review**

We’re back with the Jameson crew and in a whole new city. “Code Name: Ember” is an action packed, emotional and steamy second chance romantic suspense that started off the new series perfectly.

Cole Mercer has a career in special forces, smoke jumping and now is one of the new members of the Jameson security team with their new location in Seattle. It’s been a few years since he’s heard from his ex, Tessa Ward, and now she’s calling him for help. Tessa is an investigative reporter and she has uncovered something terrible. And those terrible people know who she is and they want her to keep quiet.

I was so excited to go back to this world and I loved that it’s based out of Seattle now, one of my favorite cities. Tessa is smart, genuine and wants to help change the world with her journalism career and give voices to people who need help. Cole is a fierce protector and wants to help others like Tessa does. They had a great and committed relationship when they were together but Cole struggled with Tessa willingly putting herself in danger. Even though they had been apart for a few years, when she needed help, Tessa knew that Cole would help without hesitation. Their history is deep and they truly knew each other. I loved their banter as they tested each other but they ultimately wanted to help each other. Their connection was great and the chemistry undeniable. Tessa worked endlessly to uncover the truth and to make sure the people responsible were prosecuted. The action and suspense had me listening nonstop because I had to know what was going to happen. The ending was perfect for them and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Kelsey Navarro-Foster and Stephen Dexter narrated this audio and I loved listening to bring this story to life. Kelsey brought the smart and driven Tessa alive perfectly. Stephen was great as Cole, I loved his protective and caring narration.

Code Name Ember (Jameson Security book 1) is my first book by Sawyer Bennett and it won't be my last. I love a good romantic suspense but this one checked all the boxes for me.

Cole Mercer is a former special forces operative and smoke jumper, but after an incident he is ready for a change and Jameson Security is just what he needs. When investigative reporter Tessa Ward uncovers a dangerous story that leaves her informant dead, she has only one person she can trust, Cole. The problem? It's been five years since their relationship ended.

Cole immediately steps up and rallies his team at Jameson around protecting her and helping her get the story and catch the criminals. This is a second chance romance, and these two have a chemistry and connection that 5 years apart hasn't dimmed. However, the danger she puts herself in to uncover the stories as part of her job and Cole's need to protect her from it hasn't changed. It’s who they are. These two elements in their personalities clearly clash with each other. How will they navigate her job, his need to protect her from what is clearly REAL danger and have a lasting relationship?

If you love romance with plenty of suspense, danger, and a couple worth rooting for, this book is one I highly recommend. I'm already diving into Sawyer Bennett's backlist while impatiently waiting for Book 2!

Audio Review:
Let's talk about the audio. The audiobook elevated the experience even more. Stephen Dexter and Kelsey Navarro Foster do a masterful job at bringing Cole and Tessa to life. You could just hear the emotion, chemistry and the intensity between Cole and Tessa. Their narration made the story feel incredibly immersive.

⭐️ What I Loved:

Second-chance romance
Romantic suspense
Protective hero
High-stakes investigation
Action and danger
Fantastic audiobook narration

⭐️ 4.5 | 🌶️ 1 | Arc Review

This book was absolutely captivating. It’s the kind of story you pick up thinking you’ll read a couple of chapters, and the next thing you know, you’ve lost an entire day completely immersed in a fictional world. I mean, we have arson and murder by Chapter 2. what’s not to love?

When the story Tessa is investigating turns deadly and she becomes a target, there’s only one person she can call, who just so happens to be her ex-boyfriend. Enter Cole the former Special Forces soldier, smokejumper, and now protective agent. We love a man in any kind of uniform, honestly.

I really enjoyed this take on second-chance romance because their separation wasn’t caused by a simple misunderstanding. Cole couldn’t cope with the risks Tessa constantly took in pursuit of a story, and that conflict remained a driving force throughout the entire book, even as they rekindled their relationship. There was always this underlying tension lingering beneath the surface.

And when Tessa ultimately proves Cole right by risking her life yet again for a story, it leads to some of the most heart-pounding moments in the book. Seriously though why is it always the smartest women that make the most questionable decisions?

Cole and Tessa worked so well together. Amid all the danger, suspense, and chaos, they shared some genuinely tender moments that balanced the story beautifully. It was those quieter moments that really solidified their connection.

For my first book by this author, I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better introduction. As a romantic suspense girlie, I’ll definitely be picking up more of their books.

I received an advance copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Cole Mercer, a former Army Force Specialist, then a smokejumper decided he needed a change and jumped at the chance to join Jameson Force Security, a new division opening up in Seattle being run by Malik Fournier.

Tessa Ward is an investigative journalist for the Emerald City Herald. When Erik Lanning calls Tessa out of blue with information about a real estate developer starting illegal fires for the property, she jumps at the chance to chase the story. After agreeing to meet in a parking garage, Erik hands over a jump drive containing all the info and moments later an SUV comes flying at him killing him. Tessa takes off running and thankfully escapes. Now realizing she is in serious danger she calls the only person she can trust....Cole. It's been five years since they broke up, but he's still the love of her life.

Cole is surprised to hear from Tessa and agrees to help her even though her putting herself in danger is the reason they broke up in the first place. When the danger finds Tessa at her house, Cole insists she moves into his apartment at Jameson Force Security to keep her safe. The Jameson team agrees to help her bring down the bad guys with everything available to them. Just when it looks like the story has been broken open, Tessa finds herself in even more danger. Thankfully Cole comes to the rescue but they find themselves in the same situation regarding her and danger. It will take a lot of soul searching for these two to find their way back to each other but when they do it's perfect!

I just adored this steamy, second chance suspenseful romance. Cole was so yummy! I loved his take charge ways. Tessa was a little stubborn at times but deep down she really loved Cole. Together these two find the love many people only dream of.

When your ex is the only person you trust to save your life… things are about to get interesting. 🔥

Jameson Force is back (yay) and Sawyer Bennett kicks off the Seattle series with the perfect blend of danger, suspense, and second-chance romance. Code Name: Ember had me hooked from the start and kept me turning pages and pressing play until the very end. I was so lucky to get an ARC and an ALC copy of this book from Sawyer and the Author Agency.

Tessa Ward is the kind of investigative reporter who chases the stories everyone else is afraid to touch. Cole is a former military operative turned protector who brings all the “touch her and die” energy I love. When danger puts Tessa in his path again, old feelings, undeniable chemistry, and unfinished business come rushing back.

I loved watching these two work together while trying to fight the pull between them. The Jameson Force team added that extra layer of realism and made the suspense feel even more immersive. Fast-paced, emotional, and packed with tension, this was everything I want from a romantic suspense and something that Sawyer does so well.

🎧 Audiobook Review: Stephen Dexter and Kelsey Navarro Foster absolutely delivered. Their narration captured the emotions, chemistry, and tension between Cole and Tessa perfectly. They kept me completely invested from beginning to end.

Cole and Tessa are two absolute badasses, and their journey was one wild, sexy, dangerous ride. I devoured this one in just a day!

I am so happy to be back in the world of Jameson Force Security and this time in Seattle!

Tessa Ward is an investigative reporter and has found evidence that a real estate developer in the Pacific Northwest may be tied to wildfires that have recently been set. While she wants to blow the story wide open, she's smart enough to know that this could also put her life at risk. There is only one person she knows that could help her in a time like this; the one person that she never thought she'd have to live without.

Cole Mercer has been in special forces and he was also a smokejumper and he now finds himself settling in at Jameson Force Security in Seattle. He loves what he does and he's finding his footing within the team at Jameson Force the last person he expects to come looking for him is the woman he never stopped loving.

When Tessa comes to Cole for help, he wants to help her as he wants to make sure she's okay. It becomes clear her life could be in danger and he gets the rest of his team involved and they put together a plan. That plan means that Tessa and Cole are going to be attached at the hip for the foreseeable future to ensure her safety. Will this bring them closer together or push them further apart?

I really liked both Tessa and Cole and when it comes to Jameson Force, it's all hands on deck, so I love getting all of the members of the team involved in these stories. I'm very much looking forward to the next one in this series!

Code Name: Ember is a fantastic addition to Sawyer Bennett’s thrilling universe, and I absolutely loved being back in the Jameson Force Security world, especially getting to explore their new offices in Seattle. This fast-paced and highly entertaining read is truly driven by its incredible cast of characters; the blend of familiar faces and intriguing new additions really made the story pop. The overarching mystery was engaging, and the tension remained taut throughout, completely sweeping me up in the plot as the team works to piece together the truth behind a series of fires.
At the heart of the story are Cole, a sexy and fiercely loyal Jameson operative, and Tessa, a savvy, intelligent, and fiercely independent investigative journalist. When Cole is pulled into the case his former girlfriend is working on, the forced close proximity quickly brings their dormant feelings bubbling to the surface, making it clear that despite being apart for five years, they still deeply care for each other. Both characters are incredibly stubborn, which adds a lot of spark to their dynamic. While Tessa is a fantastic, relentless heroine who stops at nothing to find the truth, she does make some questionable decisions along the way—there were times when I really liked her and other times when I just wanted to shake some sense into her! Overall, it’s a gripping romance and suspense blend that deserves a solid four stars.

Code Name: Ember
Jameson Force Seattle 1
By Sawyer Bennett
Narrated by Stephen Dexter, Kelsey Navarro Foster

Back in the Jameson Force Security, I couldn't be happier! A new city has a new crew, and the first one features Cole, adjusting to his new position and ready to go. But when his ex, Tessa an investigative reporter calls him that she is in danger, his first major case is born. She is the one that got away and he will do anything to keep her safe. But she is one that will do anything for the story. This one is going to blow open so many people that it would be easier to have Tessa silenced than have everyone go public. She has all the backup to make it happen, but is it worth her life? Jameson Force is all on the job, and it is packed with suspense. Sawyer Bennett has me invested in the second chance romance as well as the outcome of the article. It's action packed, romantic and everything I love. It's a great start to this new spin off and I can't wait for more.

Stephen Dexter and Kelsey Navarro-Foster are the narration team and WOW! Dexter is Cole, and he has all the alpha protection for Tessa and the dangerous agent vibe he needs. Tessa is a strong willed, ambitious reporter and Navarro-Foster is all in with attitude yet still yields to the passion she has with Cole. Loved this pairing as they brought the story alive!

Jameson Force Security has opened a facility in Seattle and I couldn't be more excited to return to this world! Tessa Ward is an Investigative journalist, whose life is suddenly in peril after her informant is run down after passing incriminating evidence to her. She doesn't want to think too hard about how the first name that comes to mind to protect her, is the one man she can never forget. Cole Mercer has joined Jameson Force Security looking for a new challenge. When the only woman he has ever loved is in danger and calls him, he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Tessa is surprised at how welcoming the Jameson Force family is, making her feel safe and at home. But Tessa doen't want to be in a cage, and doesn't make it easy on Cole, letting him know that she wants to be involved in her investigation. They couldn't make their love work the first time, because of her dangerous job. When their love reignites, will they be strong enough to fight for each other this time around, while keeping each other safe? I loved Cole and Tessa's journey back to each other. They are strong, and smart, and are unapologetic as they fight for what they want. I enjoyed watching them reconnect, learning who they are today. I loved this thrilling, provocative, and sizzling story, and the twists and turns it took had me on the edge and totally engaged. I am so intrigued by the new Jameson Force team and family and I can't wait for more from Bennett’s new Jameson Force Seattle series!
The narration by Stephen Dexter and Kelsey Navarro Foster was flawless. They were so perfectly cast to bring Cole and Tessa to life with all their convictions, courage, vulnerabilities and passion. Both narrators embodied these characters so completely, making my heart race from beginning to end.

I’m a huge fan of the Jameson Force series, so I was eager to start on the Seattle spin off. I was not disappointed. A little action, a little suspense and of course some romance. Neither Tessa Ward, nor Cole Mercer ever expected a second chance at love, but when Tessa witnesses a murder and is fearful for her life, her first port of call is Cole. When Cole realises how much danger Tessa is in, his domineering protective instinct kicks in and all bets are off. Tessa is his. Sadly Tessa is still as stubborn as she was when they broke up. They’re at an impasse, she won’t quite her job just so Cole can sleep easy. Can they get a second chance at love if neither of them is willing to change what broke them in the first place. I certainly hope so. Two equally stubborn people, but I must say, I was a little disappointed in Tessa’s blasé attitude to her safety, I could totally see Cole’s frustration. An entertaining and sweet romantic suspense with some top notch characters throughout, it was great to catch up with some of the original Jameson gang. I’m looking forward to more from the Seattle operatives. I listened to the audiobook alongside reading the ebook and Stephen Dexter and Kelsey Navarro Foster worked really well together as Cole and Tessa, great performances. I received advanced copies of both the ebook and the audiobook. This is my honest review.

Sawyer Bennett delivers a compelling mix of second-chance romance and suspense in Code Name: Ember. The story follows Cole and Tessa, former lovers whose reunion is anything but simple. Now an investigative reporter, Tessa finds herself in danger and turns to Cole for help—who works for the elite Jameson Force Security team. This setup immediately raises the stakes, blending personal history with a high-risk situation.

The chemistry between Cole and Tessa is strong, underscored by unresolved feelings and past heartbreak. Their relationship feels layered and authentic as they navigate trust, forgiveness, and the lingering pull between them. Tessa’s determination and independence pair well with Cole’s protective, driven nature, making their dynamic both emotional and believable.

The suspense element adds real tension to the story, as Tessa’s investigation pulls them deeper into danger. Bennett balances action and romance effectively, ensuring the plot stays engaging without losing its emotional core.

Overall, Code Name: Ember is a fast-paced, emotionally satisfying read that will appeal to fans of second-chance romance with a suspenseful edge.

🎧📖 ALC Review: Code Name: Ember

✍️ @sawyerbennett123

Special thanks to Sawyer Bennett and The Author Agency @theauthor.agency for selecting me to ALC and ARC.

📓 🕵️ 📓🕵️📓🕵️📓🕵️📓🕵️📓🕵️📓🕵️

Code Name: Ember delivered the perfect blend of suspense, romance, and action. I loved the dynamic between the stubborn investigative journalist heroine and the grumpy hero—neither was willing to back down, which made their chemistry all the more entertaining.

The suspense kept me hooked from start to finish. Every new revelation pulled me deeper into the story, and the pacing never let up. The romance and spice complemented the plot beautifully without ever overshadowing the high-stakes mystery and danger unfolding around them.

As an audiobook listener, I have to give special praise to the narrators. The intensity during the more suspenseful scenes was incredibly well done—you could hear the tension, urgency, and emotion in their performances, which elevated the entire experience.

If you’re looking for a romantic suspense that balances intrigue, tension, and chemistry, Code Name: Ember is definitely worth picking up.

This book was amazing! I listened and read and the narration by Stephen Dexter and Kelsey Navarro Foster were absolute perfection for Cole and Tessa!
This story is the perfect blend of romantic suspense and second chance romance with steamy scenes that more than balance out the intense ones.
Cole is part of Jameson Security Force in the new Seattle location run by none other than Malik! So we get more of him and Anna in this book.
Cole is sexy, protective and so bada$$. Tessa is an investigative journalist who seems to find and thrive on the dangerous stories. She is also a bada$$. They broke up five years ago because of that and now she needs help and Cole is the first person she calls. They have oodles of chemistry and clearly still have deep feelings for each other.
What happens after that is an intriguing, scary, and sexy journey you don’t want to miss!
I loved everything about this book and loved listening to it as well! It was like a movie in my ears.
Can’t wait for more of this series!

Thank you to The Author Agency for the ALC in exchange for an honest review!

3.5 ⭐ What a ride! This is my first Sawyer Bennett book and after reading, I'm excited to see where the rest of the series will go.

This has everything I love in a good romance- suspense, second chance, and spice that doesn't overwhelm the plot. The narration was wonderful. I think it would have been even better if it were duet instead of dual.

This follows our fmc Tessa who is an investigative journalist on a dangerous journey to uncover a ring of shell companies setting some illegal fires. A fellow journalist and friend provides Tessa with pertinent information for the story and winds up dead, which puts a target on Tessa. Who does she call for help? Enter Cole, ex special forces agent and- her ex boyfriend, who conveniently works for Jameson Force, a protection detail.

This had a lot of moving parts and (thankfully) has an HEA. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of romantic suspense and second chance.

Good to be back in this world!

I have missed the Jameson group and it is quite the treat to have Malik heading this branch of the office.

Cole and Tessa were madly in love, but couldn't get past her penchant for launching full steam into a story no matter how dangerous. Has that changed over the past five years? No. But does Cole drop everything and come when called when she is in danger? Absolutely YES!

These two never really stopped loving each other even if they both tried to move on. True love is like that.

Overall, it was a suspenseful and intriguing story. I loved most of the things about Tessa and her character although towards the end - she drove me crazier than she drove Cole which is saying a lot. I think she should have had a better balance.

"It's so XXX confusing to love a woman for those qualities and hate them about her at the same time." Truth Cole truth!

Cole is just swoony and so romantic in his daily care of her even if he makes rash decisions about the love of his life.

It is always fun to be with the Jameson crew and so excited about this new series.

I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.

Audio/eBook Review:
Code Name: Ember is investigative journalist Tessa Ward and covert operations team member Cole Mercer’s second chance romantic suspense story. It’s book one in the new spin off Jamison Force Seattle Series and from the moment I picked this book up I was drawn in and I was kept on the edge of my seat with twists and turns I didn’t see coming.

A whistleblower is dead. A journalist is hunted. And only one man can keep her alive.

Cole will do whatever is needed to keep Tessa safe but when it comes down to love will her job come between them once again.

This is a well written, entertaining, engaging and dangerous story. It has so many layers, the characters and the story are strong but it was watching these two realise they still have feelings for each other that touched my heart. A great start for the Seattle branch.

Stephen Dexter and Kelsey Navarro Foster did a great job bringing the characters and their story to life. They were spot on with characters mannerisms and very easy to listen to.

Thank you to The Author Agency for my copy of Code Name: Ember by Sawyer Bennett which is out on the 30th!

Talk about the perfect amount of spice and suspense, THIS IS IT!!! All my smut loving and thriller loving readers...OUR PERFECT BOOK IS HERE!!!! It's a slow burn second chance romance and the perfect mystery! Stephen Dexter and Kelsey Navarro Foster were absolute gems as narrators, I couldn't stop listening! They brought our MCs Cole and Tessa to life with such emotion!

Tessa is an investigative reporter hot on the trail of uncovering a large corporation committing arson, until her whistleblower gets ran over by a car and k*lled right in front of her. She runs to Cole, her ex-boyfriend, for help and thankfully he steps in because they're hot on her heels to stop her from releasing whatever she was given.

I loved how Cole automatically went back to his feelings for Tessa and how he HAD to protect her at all costs.

This is a solid 4 star read, get it on your pre-order list today!

This was another exciting and suspenseful book that I couldn’t put down until I finished it! Tessa was an investigative reporter that got a great tip about a company setting fires and then buying up the property at a low price. Something terrible happens and the only person she could think to call was Cole. Tessa and Cole had been a couple for a few years, and Cole had broken up with her because he couldn’t take the thought of something happening to her. Cole was surprised she reached out to him since it had been five years. I must say that Tessa was stubborn and self reliant. Since Cole was working for Jameson Force, he knew the team would help her out and keep her safe. She sure didn’t make it easy on the team! I was glad it gave her and Cole a second chance. Ms. Sawyer does such a wonderful job of keeping us guessing what is going to happen next with so many suspenseful scenes. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read the book.

I enjoyed the dual narration of Cole(our mmc) an ex special forces agent starting a new career in covert operationsand Tessa (our fmc) who is an investigative reporter chasing a dangerous story that could make her career.

The history of these 2 characters means that 5 years apart cannot change the feelings they have for one another and working together to try and keep Tessa safe by finding proof and ways to prove the corruption in a huge corporation.

Time has not changed the only thing that parted them, Tessa still makes dangerous decisions to find the truth and do her job to the best of her ability and Cole is still protective but will true love allow this to be overcome?

It took me a while to get into this story but not because of how its written or narrated simply because the genre isn’t one i usually gravitate towards, that being said i would recommend this to any reader that enjoys a procedural/crime book with 🌶️

Tessa is investigative reporter who finds herself in a bit of trouble. She turns to the one man who she knows can help her... even if it means putting her heart on the line. Cole is an ex-military man who is now working for a private security company. Cole & Tessa have a history - one that neither one of them ever moved on from. And that chemistry is still burnin'! Forced proximity starts working it's magic when they work on the dangerous investigation together.

I love second chance romance and when you add in some heat, tension, danger and suspense, it's the perfect combo for me. I really enjoyed the whole Jameson team and I'm looking forward to more.

This was a duet narration by Stephen Dexter and Kelsey Navarro-Foster. Of all the audios I've heard by Stephen, I'm not sure i've ever listened to him in a protector type role and let me tell you.. I was here for it! Kelsey was literally the most perfect Tessa. She displayed Tessa's confident, independent personality perfectly. Stephen & Kesley took this story to a whole new level. It was great!!

Thank you to The Author Agency for this e-ARC/ALC. All opinions are my own.

I absolutely love the way Sawyer writes a suspense romance. The way she weaves the romance with the action and always keeping you on your toes. Code Name Ember is a second chance romance for two people who never stopped loving the other. Tessa is a boss babe who will stop at nothing in uncovering the truth and exposing the bad guys. Cole is a Jameson Force operative that will stop at nothing but keeping Tessa safe. They have history. They have chemistry. They have a connection.

Sawyer starts this story with a bang and never stops till the very last page. There’s suspense and action along side the second chance romance that heats up the pages. If you’ve been reading Sawyer’s Jameson books for a while you’ll see some old faces as well as some new ones. You’ll get the same heart pounding story as all her others.

Kelsey Navarro Foster and Stephen Dexter did a great job giving these characters a voice. It was a very enjoyable listen.

4.5 ⭐️ First time reading/listening to this author, and I did a read & listen experience with this one. The narrators did a great job. Especially the MMC, who really brought a lot of emotion to his performance and elevated the story. Would it have been better as a duet narration? Yes, but it didn’t affect my overall rating.

I also really liked having the flexibility to switch between listening and reading depending on what I was doing. I listening while multitasking (like laundry), then switching to reading when I had time to sit down.

The story itself kept my attention, the action had me on edge, and the sweet reconnection between the main characters was really satisfying.

I used to read a lot of romantic suspense and kind of drifted away from it, but this one has me wanting more. I’m really glad I picked this up as an ARC.

Thank you to the author and The Author Agency for the advanced read/listen.

Code Name: Ember is a thrilling investigative case that quickly turns into real danger, bringing past lovers Cole and Tessa back together.

There is tension and a host of unresolved issues clouding their every move. A constant battle of wills plays out as both Cole and Tessa refuse to compromise, creating plenty of friction along the way. Their chemistry continues to build even as they refuse to address the issues between them, which was incredibly frustrating.

Tessa's need to dash into danger tests your patience just as much as Cole's need to control the narrative. Right up until the end, you'll want to smack them both and tell them to get their acts together. When they finally do, it's hard not to sigh in relief after a heightened climax.

Cole's team brings banter, laughter, camaraderie, and an extra edge to the story, balancing out the tension and danger.

Suspense, second chances, stubborn characters, and high-stakes danger.

📰 Cole & Teѕѕα 📰

This was so much more than about second chance romance, this book was about accepting someone for who they are and not making the person you love change. Both Tessa and Cole have dangerous jobs, but Cole is the one who has a hard time accepting the danger that Tessa puts herself in. I will say Tessa did frustrate me and act a little naive to the situation she was put into because of her actions and choices.

I enjoyed the chemistry that Cole and Tessa had and were able to really fall back into a relationship they thought was long over. The suspense that surrounded them also kept me at the edge of my seat.

🎧 𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨 🎧

Stephen Dexter and Kelsey Nevaro Foster did an incredible job in this dual narration. I felt that Stephen was a perfect match for Cole. He was able to really bring forward the temperment of Cole as well as bring forward his vulnerable moments. I love Kelsey for Tessa because she brought the sass and fire that was needed to portray Tessa.
