Bound Souls is the sequel to Anxious Hearts and the conclusion to Daphne and Zander’s story. I loved these to together and loved watching what started out as just a one night stand turn into so much more. This was a really sweet and enjoyable read.
Daphne and Zander met one night at a bar and had one night of sex. It was nothing more than sex and afterwards they went their separate ways never expecting to see each other again. Until they realize that they have a mutual friend. And then the unexpected happens and they go from two complete strangers to two people who are now going to be bound together.
Daphne is pregnant with Zander’s baby and has moved in with him. More as roommates than anything else. They hardly even know each other but Zander being the stand up guy that he is plans on taking care of his child and Daphne. He wants to be there with her to experience it all. Zander finds himself falling for Daphne but he knows that she tends to keep him at arm’s length when it comes to feelings, but he also knows that are reasons behind her walls, he just doesn’t know what they are.
Daphne starts to feel something for the father of her child but is too afraid to admit it. She’s afraid to open up and let him in. She doesn’t think that she deserves him because of the demons that she has been fighting. Will she be able to open up to Zander and admit her feelings or will she run?
I really enjoyed this book. Daphne and Zander are two people who know nothing about each other. But here they are living together and having a baby. Zander is honestly great about this whole situation. I love how he takes responsibility and steps up to the plate to take care of Daphne and his baby. He is there with her every step of the way. I loved watching them both grow and loved watching them slowly fall in love. This story wasn’t rushed at all in the sense that they find out they are having a baby and then instantly it all works out. They take their time and adjust to this new life and their feelings. This is new for the both of them and not just the baby part, but all of it.
I loved Zander and how protective and sweet he w with Daphne. You could see how much he cared and how much he was falling for her. He also had his own family issues that he was dealing with but he had Daphne there to help him. Daphne was a wonderful heroine. She had some issues that she was facing but she never gave up. She was scared and I understood why and just wanted her to realize how much she deserved to be loved and to be happy. This was the perfect conclusion to their story. I loved that we got to see Francesca and Cade as well. Great job by Felicia Tatum.
I really enjoyed Bound Souls. It's a short novella and fast read that was very enjoyable and full of emotion. I did not read the prior two books before reading Bound Souls, as the book can be read as a stand alone. However, I will state that there are several aspects of Zander and Daphne's situation that I believe having read the prior books would have provided enlightenment. This does not deter from the enjoyment of the book though, as I was able to quickly pick up on Zander and Daphne's history and paint the picture for myself.
The book picks up after Daphne and Zander's one-night-stand has resulted in a pregnancy and the two of them living together. You can tell from the start that Zander, not only wanting to do right by Daphne, is quickly falling head-over-heals with this young woman. His one night stand is becoming his once in a lifetime love.
Daphne, however, cannot possible believe that Zander can be falling in love with her. He's just a "nice guy" who is trying to "take care of" the mistake he's made with her. Daphne, in her depressed state, wishes she and Zander could be more, but doesn't believe he could ever love someone like her.
This story definitely had some funny and endearing moments. Some of the funniest were the social situations involving Zander and a baby shower! Through it all, the book explores the emotions of love and respect when two people try to uncover if they can be happy in life with a baby affecting the decisions they must make.
Overall I give this book 4.5 stars!
Felicia's characters are endearing and carry a sense of reality that makes it easy to believe this story could be true. I found myself cheering for Zander and Daphne while waiting for one of them to finally admit they were falling in love with each other. Definitely a must read for a romantic like me!
I will admit that I am now reading this series backwards, which I don't normally do. This book just seem to good to not read. Plus I received and ARC for an honest review. However, after reading Bound Souls I have fallen in love with Zander and Daphne.
Daphne keeps her heart and secrets guarded. She agreed to move in with Zander because she is pregnant. After she moves in with him she is having a hard time guarding her heart from him. However, she will do everything in her power to keep her distant even if it involves not talking to him or looking at him. As for her secret she fights her self daily on to tell him or not. Eventually she tells Zander that she has lived with depression all her life and seems to have lifted the all the weight off her shoulders.
Zander is very determined to get what he wants. After having Daphne move in with him he does everything he can to make her see that he wants her for her and not just because she is pregnant with his child. While trying to get her to see this he is also trying to figure out what to do about a half-sister, Korah, that he just found. So, how much pushing away can he take before he breaks? Make sure to read Bound Souls to find out.
I will say that I am going to continue this series to follow all of the characters and can't wait to see where Felicia Tatum takes this story with Korah.
I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to get a brief sight into what a person with depression has to go through daily and how they can survive day to day life while pregnant.
Joint review: Anxious Hearts + Bound Souls While these two installments follow other characters, Zander and Daphne, both introduced previously, I still recommend you start from the beginning because it will enhance your overall experience. Felicia Tatum can't write a bad story line. She can't. So just know that you really should read this series.
What Daphne thought would be a one-time thing, little did she know would end up changing her life. There is a serious topic developed and I applaud Felicia Tatum for doing it tactfully and beautifully. Very well written. It's not a topic commonly seen in books so it was a refreshing detail. Zander and Daphne's story was truly a page-turner for me and I was extremely glad to have had both installments handy because I need to see how their story unfolded. Just like with Fransesca and Cade, I connected with Zander and Daphne and really wanted them to sort everything out. I really don't want to give anything away because you should really check these books out, but do know that I am extremely glad I chose to review for this tour.
This series is a must for all romantics that love a good story where the happy ending doesn't come easily for the characters. :)
WoW this book was great! I really loved it. It's not your average love story, its elements are real. Two people throw into a situation and fighting their feelings for each other. Daphne is a tortured soul with a dark secret that she fears to tell Zander. She fears that if she tells him she will lose him forever, but did she even have him to begin with. My heart ached for both Daphne and Zander, wishing they could just see what each other felt. The supporting Characters in this book have a story of their own in previous books but they give you insight to some of their fears and feelings as well. I love that they are so close with Daphne and support her indefinitely. I highly recommend this book it! The ending was my favorite part for a variety of reasons and you will love it too. Felicia Tatum grabs you from the beginning and give you no choice but sit and enjoy the ride. This book was filled with moments that pour out emotion from you. A great writer can make you feel for their characters and immerse your self in the book. Felicia does that and more.
This is wickedly awesome! Zander and Daphne are two broken souls, with shattered hearts in a subdued relationship. After a whirlwind romance that got Daphne pregnant, Zander thought he finally broke through her walls and nabbed her heart. But Daphne still kept her heart guarded and couldn't break the sexual tension brewing between them. It seemed like this relationship wouldn't work even with a baby along the way. Will they ever find happiness in each other's arms?
But because Felicia Tatum is a great author, this beautifully written story about two lost souls would definitely leave an imprint to the readers' heart, mine included. I really loved the ending, it was so surreal and light-hearted. Plus the addition of Korah from another book series was really a treat! I am impressed with the character development and seamless plot that made Bound Souls more endearing to read. This is a highly recommended must-read to all who have loved and failed, to all who still continue loving, and to all who longs to find their one true love.
This story picks up where Anxious Hearts ended. Daphne has moved in with Zander so they can be good parents when their baby is born. Although they live in the same house, they sleep in separate rooms. Zander wants them to be a couple but Daphne doesn't believe he really wants her. She can't take medicine for her depression while pregnant and is having a rough time. Zander is determined to make Daphne see herself as he sees her and to win her heart.
Depression is a topic many people are afraid to discuss. There are too many stigmas (wrongly) associated with it. It is refreshing to see it discussed in a positive light. As an illness. All of the books in this series deal with more than romance. They tackle deeper issues as well.
If you are looking for an enjoyable, well-written story with likable characters read Bound Souls. I recommend all the books in the Scarred Hearts Series.
Beautiful and Heartfelt This is the second opportunity that I've had to read this author. She is so very talented. She has a terrific way of grabbing your attention with her stories and holding you fast until you reach the last word. This is a short read, which is good because you will not want to put it down. There is so much heart and emotion in this story and even if you haven't read anxious hearts before this the characters will seep into your heart and have you becoming emotionally invested in them. There are also lighthearted moments that will give you a laugh. Watching and experiencing the growth of both Daphne and Zander and how their relationship grows and blossoms was a wonderful experience. I definitely recommend this book. I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for and honest review.
Bound Souls starts up where Anxious Hearts leaves off with Daphne and Zander trying to adjust to the changes that are happening and those that are coming up. I loved Zander so much! He is patient, kind, so swoon worthy and not afraid to face his fears. Daphne honestly annoyed me in this book. I got where she was coming from but it got to me too much at times. The chemistry between the two of them was still scorching and the sexy times though few and far between were very sweet. The story line was pretty good though somewhat predictable. Though I enjoyed the conclusion to Daphne and Zander's story, I really felt it could have been put into one book and not drawn out. This is a solid 4 star read and I cannot wait to see what couple is next! (My hope is Cason and Bree)
I am so glad that Z & D are moving forward in this adventure together , though not really together but if you are reading you get what I mean !! Now that all truths are coming out into the open Z & D are able to be friends and attempt to prepare for this new exciting adventure. Zander will stop at nothing to give D what she needs and although they are both afraid of what it means their true feelings for each other are starting to show. Angsty little creeps these two are and they keep us hanging on for quite a bit. The tension is yummy , actions that speak louder than words are yummy too !! It is an exciting time for both couples and it was fun to be a part of it all. The ending was great and I so loved how Z & D finally confessed their love !! It was amazing. I am so happy I was able to read this series and i do enjoy this author's work.
I have had Mangled Hearts and Anxious Hearts for awhile now and just haven't gotten around to reading them yet, I received an ARC for this book and decided it was time to get started; I don't know if I am happy I read them all so fast and loved them or sad because I finished them! Daphne is someone who constantly pushes people away she feels she is undeserving of love and happiness. Her inner demons keep her at bay. Zander also has his issues but he wants more than anything to break down Daphne's walls. Will she finally let her guard down and let Zander in and live their happily ever after? You'll have to read it to find out :) I absolutely love these two characters and enjoyed watching them grow! You should not only read this book, but the entire series. You won't regret it!
Bound Souls, 2.5 book of the series. This book is one of my favorites of Ms. Felicia.. The characters and the story are great. In this book, I fell in love more on Zander!! **swoon** This guy is amazing. As the story continues... Zander will know something that might even me did not expect.. Anyway, I absolutely love this book.. With the baby coming and the new business Zander is handling things get more interesting and a bit fun. There are times that find Zander hilarious when it comes to the baby.. With Daphne facing her issues, and Zander dealing with the unexpected the story got more interesting and intriguing on how they will deal with them. Ms. Felicia nailed it again!! This book is my favorite in the series..
This series of books has been one of my favorites from the beginning. I love every single character in them, but I think right now Zander is at the top of my list of favorites. This was another five-star worthy book from Felicia Tatum. I adore her writing style and the strength and realism her characters portray. There is a cameo from one of her other books that I thought was an awesome surprise! The descriptions of feelings of depression were spot on, the insecurities, the mood swings, and the self-loathing. I couldn’t put this down and my only ‘complaint’ is that I’m done reading it now. I want more Zander! *sigh* Now I’ll have to wait patiently for the next great read from this author.
Imagine you suffer from depression. Then imagine your pregnant, from a one night stand, off your meds, and living with your baby daddy... who you barely know. Yup, that's where this story begins. Not only do we get a story of acceptance and growth, but we get to revisit loved characters from previous books in the series. The anticipation of the baby's birth was so tangible, you empathsied with all their hopes and fears. I do have one question though. Why can't all men be like Zander??? Would I recommend this book? Yes! Please note the author was kind enough to gift a copy of this book to me. I have left this honest review in return.
I received an Arc for an honest review. I so rooted for Daphne and Zander. I mean what a guy, how many now a days step up and take responsibility. These two as individuals have so many insecurities and self doubt, like many of us, and together it breeds even more doubt. But it was very frustrating at times, I wanted to say hey just speak up, tell each other how you feel and stop the doubt, lol it doesn't work that way. I had another story where I ran the gambit of emotions, which I love in a book, I laughed, I cried, I got angry, and in the end I got my HEA and ah it was all worth it. Give it a read you will love it, I did. But I want more.

Oh wow! Zander takes my breath away! Hes so understanding, and caring, and sexy, and adorable! Finally they move together, still not assuming their love for each other, but caring more and more each day. Daphne will open up finally and see how Zander trully cares for her, not minding of her depression, but wanting to be with her more. Finally when their son arrives, the love win them over and they start living like a family, caring for each other. I loved the burp talk Zander have with Alec... lol... he's such a man! Felicia writing is awesome! You wont put it down until the end!
In Anxious Hearts we watched Daphne and Zander stumble their way through life, and eventually, toward one another. I love the backwards nature of their relationship... rather than starting with love and ending with a baby, a baby is what brings them together. But it's more than their shared love for their child. Daphne learns she has more to offer than her body, and Zander finally finds a healthy relationship when he's been surrounded by the opposite all his life. Also, if you're a fan of Tatum's other work, you'll like the clever tie-in with Intoxicating Passions ;) Great conclusion!
I received and ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I really like all the characters in this series, I loved the sexual tension between Zander and Daphne and I like how the books are done in both points of view so you get to know what each character is exactly feeling, I really liked how it ended and I can't wait to find out more about Korah, this book was an amazing end to the Zander and Daphne parts and I hope there's more about Francesca and Cade in the coming books!
This romance novella gives you a dip into the lives of Zander and Daphne. Zander is fawning over Daphne, who is pregnant with their child, though they are not married or even dating really. Daphne, who suffers from depression, seems like she might be falling for Zander too, just more slowly. Zander is also looking into the possibility that he has a sister he's never met. A light, quick, read. I received this book free through Goodreads First Reads.
Beautiful story of understanding, perseverance and determination. Well written with characters that have great interactions. I enjoyed this story very much as Zander and Daphne learn, no matter what obstacles there are, love can blossom and grow. Another great read by a very talented author.
Daphne battles a lot of her depression without the medicine and its great the support of her friends. I do love when she growls when she is jealous too!
Zander is a great family guy! I look forward to see when Korah meets her new family!
Great read! Fanny and Cade are next with the happy extending family too right??
From one night stand to soul mates. Daphne and Zander started off as a one night stand because of Daphne's depression which caused her to think less of herself. After finding out she was pregnant with Zander's baby they move into Zander's apartment. Throughout each trimester their love for their baby and each other grows, until they figure out they are Bound Souls.
Felicia Tatum writes some of the best books. There is not a single one of her books that I’ve read that I’ve put down. I have read each of them thoroughly and they are wonderful. Felicia Tatum does not disappoint in her writing. Bound Souls is a book that shows that. The characters and the writing are just awesome. I really don’t have many words to say how much I liked Bound Souls.
Another amazing book from Felicia Tatum!!! I have really fallen in love with her books and the characters as well as the story plots that she writes! Just when you think you couldn't have read a better one of her books, you pick up another one. The only problem that I have is out of all her books, I really can't pick just one to say for a favorite!
Daphne and Zander come to terms with them having a baby. They both have a hard time telling the other what they want and feel for each other. Daphne believes he only wants her around because of their little musician. Zander wants to be all in for Daphne, and their baby. He will have to prove to her that she is the one, but will Daphne's depression keep her from getting to close?
** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **
This was my fave of all of them!!! I love Daphne and Zander...and now we have baby Alec!! I cried and cried because I was so happy for them...I am glad Daphne finally opened her heart and Zander crawled right in!!!
So amazing! I was so excited to read a book with Zander and Daphne! Daphne agrees to move in with Zander and to raise their baby together. She is trying to kick her depression to be better for her baby and maybe for Zander? Loved this book and I recommend it highly!
Daphne opens up a lot in this one! I love that she moves in with Zander even if in the beginning its for the baby..She doesn't exclude Zander on everything (just her feelings for a while!) I love this series! I think my favorite part is when Daphne gets jealous and how she growls =)
A great continuation of Zaphne. With the birth of their child coming they have many obstacles to overcome and though it may take a while that first step is always the hardest. A very emotional book with loads of tears, both happy and some sad at times. A happy ending most deserving of these two.
