Crown Prince Timas has always treated royal duties like an elaborate game—until the brilliant Scholar Evara changes everything.
When Timas is forced to escort the visiting scholar around court, he and his best friend Milori make a bet to see who can win her attention first. What starts as harmless competition quickly becomes something deeper, forcing both young men to confront who they really are.
But when tragedy strikes at the heart of the court, the careless prince must choose between the games he's always played and the leader his kingdom needs him to become.
Royal guard Milori has spent years trying to belong at court—with little success. Even his friendship with the Crown Prince has only created a bigger divide between him and the other guards. Competing for Scholar Evara's attention seems like harmless fun—until he discovers just how fragile everything he values really is.
Now he must learn what true loyalty means, and discover that sometimes the best way to protect someone you love is to be brave enough to call them a friend, even when it breaks every rule.
A novella set 150 years before the Fae King Series. Join young Timas and Milori as they navigate friendship, competition, and the discovery that some bonds run deeper than either could imagine. Full of humor and banter, but with real stakes and dangerous undercurrents that will change everything.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Lore Keeper’s Daughter is a prequel to the Fae King Series. 150 years before Timas meets his bonded, this novella explores the mischievous rivalry and camaraderie between him and Milori. Fighting over a woman has never been so revelatory. I loved Evara’s theories about spirit bonds and their histories. I have to (re)read the Fae King books to see where the theories match and how everything fits in. Excellent and quick read!
A delightful read! So fun to see a glimpse into what Timas and Milori were like when they were a bit younger than in the Fae King series. And what sort of mischiefs the boys got up to! Loved their banter back and forth as well! Evara is such a lovely character addition to the series, and provided very interesting thoughts about the spirit bonds and how magic works in their world. As an introverted book nerd myself, she quickly became another favourite!
After reading this did I reread all the other ones? Yes, yes I did! Getting a peek into younger versions of my favorite males ever was perfect!!! I loved every minute of this book!!!!
Even though this prequel was written after the series, I‘d see it as a scaffolding for the series itself.
Timas and Milori in their „younger“ years. A joy to read. Their friendship is so much fun to explore here and shows a lot of details into why they are the way they behave when Timas becomes king.
You‘ll also get more details about spirit bonds which is important for their own books.
A novella set 150 years before the Fae King Series in a time of Timas and Milori’s younger years. So get ready for lots of banter and silly playful best buds dynamics! Enjoy how the author added a lot of depth knowledge on the “soul bonds” with a new character, Evara is so cute, introverted and geeky. This short read was a perfect way to end this epic, fantasy journey from all the other 4 books in the series... satisfying conclusion! thanks to much TM Goodkey!
