Cedar Falls Rookies is brand new steamy small-town hockey rom-com series by Emma Bloom. This is the first love story in the Cedar Falls Rookies series.
Cedar Falls Rookies They’ve played on big stages. They’ve chased contracts, comebacks, and second chances on the ice.
Now they’re starting over in Cedar Falls.
Cedar Falls Rookies is a steamy small-town hockey rom-com series following a rotating roster of AHL players who arrive talented, cocky, and fully aware that nothing about their future is guaranteed. Some are rebuilding reputations. Some are under pressure to prove they still belong. Some thought love was already behind them.
Cedar Falls has other plans.
In a town where everyone knows your business and no one believes in personal spaces, these men discover that chemistry doesn’t wait for perfect timing. Fake dates turn complicated. Scandals test loyalty. Found families form in locker rooms, kitchens, and community bleachers. And love shows up while life is still loud, uncertain, and in motion.
Each book follows a new couple and a new emotional challenge—while the team, the town, and the bonds between players grow stronger with every season.
Same town. New team. New faces, new stakes, and romances that hit hard both on and off the ice.
Emma Bloom is a Kindle Best Seller in contemporary romance with expert-level romance instincts—hitting the sweet spot of equal parts swoon-worthy, heartfelt, and oh-so-very steamy.
Emma crafts romances that fans of billionaires, off-limits relationships, and age-gap love stories can’t resist. With a knack for grumpy-sunshine pairings, alpha protectors, and curvy virgin heroines, her books take readers on steamy journeys where opposites attract, enemies become lovers, and heroes fall hard, all with a little dash of humor.
By day, she’s a savvy day trader before most people have even had their coffee. But once the numbers are crunched, she switches gears, letting her heart lead. That’s when the magic happens, as she pours her passion into writing love stories that captivate and enchant her readers.
Living in Colorado where the crisp mountain air and golden sunsets provide the perfect backdrop for dreaming up steamy love stories, Emma draws inspiration from nature's beauty for her writing, and enjoys the Rockies sunshine with her family.
If you don’t know or have never read Emma Bloom this is a great book to start with to get your feet wet. It’s cry laugh snort hilarious. Like the ugly kind you can’t contain but in the best way.
We are back in my favorite place in the world - CEDAR FALLS!!!!! 😍 I love it here. I never want to leave. It’s has all my favorite people and places and oh yeah, hot hockey players.
Ronan is the “Bad Boy” “Trouble with a capital a T”. But he is too handsome for his own good and he knows it. So when he shows up to the charity event is sweat pants and a tank the ladies go crazy and his PR rep says a silent prayer. But when his auction winner starts to cry, during their 3 minute hug, he doesn’t know what to do other than shield her from the town with his body while she gets herself together, then proceeds to bolt, after her epic mic stealing TDG announcement.
Our sweet April, oh my girl. My sweet, science and data driven genius. She is the most unique character I’ve read about in a long time and I won’t give away her “superpowers” but they are pretty amazing and I think I might enjoy it for a day. She is Co-owner of The Daily Grind, everyone’s favorite place for coffee and amazingly sinful pastries. Because when she does something it’s with the precision of a well oiled machine.
This book has me ugly cry laughing! I was not prepared for what I read and tbh I never went to sleep because I couldn’t put it down. Ughhhhh it was soooooo good!
The banter, the data collection, the coffee, the spicy time! Oh boy the chemistry between these two was so amazingly hot I could feel it in my chest and other places. 😏
This is of course a love story but doesn’t end in the traditional way you’d think. Yes, there is a happy ending, for both parties. 😉 But the growth that happens between the two of them was so awesome, not just individually but also as a couple.
I loved the G3 Summit and the fact that she had a support system in place to help her navigate this messy “experiment” and her feelings. Ronan had his new team which he embraced after a while. Hammer is the most obnoxiously loyal golden retriever you’ve ever met but with happy dog energy. I hope there’s a book about him and Bex. That would make me soooo happy! Opposites attract.
If you’ve never been to Cedar Falls Colorado, it’s a judgey little town in the mountains with a community that circulates gossip faster than you can blink. Mrs. Henderson is my favorite matriarch, with her cane and snark. But once you’ve been accepted by the town, you are all in, they love you through the good and the bad. They may beat you over the head with the bad but will still love you in spite of it.
Emma Bloom is in my top 3 favorite authors. She has an amazing writing style that just sucks you in and holds you captive until you don’t go to sleep because you need to know what happens. You just can’t leave this town unaffected. I’m a regular in town and we can’t wait to meet you! Come check out Cedar Falls and stop by The Daily Grind for your morning coffee, Mane Street Bistro for lunch and the Candy Jar for your afternoon snack.

Another great hockey rom com from Emma Bloom. This is book #2 in the Cedar Falls Rookies, and a delicious read.
April is smart, friendly, caring, self sufficient, and strong, her only flaw is that she is very sensitive to smells and taste, call it her superpower to weed out good and bad in men and suitors. This makes it almost impossible to have a relationship, so she lives a quiet life as a cafe owner. Ronan is one of the golden boys of hockey, a protector, with a reputation of a "bad boy", but he is really not what the town has painted him to be.
A chance encounter (player auction) puts them together and her senses scream "yes" to his scent. She is observant and realizes that there is more to the man than the facade he is set to live, and her clinical senses desperate want to know why he is different. So, she proposes a fake dating arrangement, let her experiment on his skin in exchange for help to clean his image. AND THE FUN BEGINS HERE.
This is such a complete book that will suck you into the story from the first page. Both characters are vulnerable in different ways; her sensitivities have made her careful of people, add to that her brain (and I love smart STEM characters, as a Chemical Engineer, she was so easy to relate to), her caring nature; for him is all about the persona he has to showcase, the stereotype of machism, alpha males does not fit his caring protective personality. Together they are able to be themselves with no masks, they just click in conversations, food, attraction, and just a plain sense of fitting in. Their road from strangers to friends with benefits to lovers is marked with growth, understanding, humor, and an electric attraction.
Of course there is a bit of drama, but the side characters, her friends, his teammates, and even the town just add to the situations making sure you laugh, swoon, and cheer for them

Fake Date A Bad Boy is full of quick witty banter between our MCs. It reminded me of an episode of Scandal without the Scandal, just the fast paced back and forth between the characters. April is one of a kind and Ronan is starting off in a new town, a new place to maybe get back to the NHL. He has been painted as a bad boy, but is he really? The auction proves that he is conscious of April and her presence as well as how to handle her once he sees her again. He is cautious with intention.
The truth is... towns talk and April saves Ronan in the mist of her 'research.' So, incoming April states they are dating to save Ronan from speculation and possibly from ridicule from the town and his team. As the story evolves, Ronan is careful with April in every aspect of their arrangement. From public to private interactions. He doesn't make a big deal about her super power. He just adjusts.
Her friends Bex and Gabby are amazing! I loved these side characters so much because they didn't feel like side anything. Bex and Gabby are very encouraging to April about branching out and seeing what could develop with Ronan.
This delicious read draws you in with every description; food, intimate moments, and color system. I felt like I was tasting the MCs skin, breathing in their scents and apart of the whole journey.
While I can’t truly imagine that someone’s senses could be that sensitive, this makes for a very entertaining read. A ‘superpower’: she’s able to identify yesterday’s meal by someone’s scent. April has a hard time around other people and has remained alone, carrying her V-card because every man just smells wrong, with some memorable date escapes.
Her reaction when she realised that Ronan was safe was priceless. It both made me giggle at the sheer absurdity of it, but also hurt for her because of her actions…
On to Ronan… The Grump (yes, with a capital) doesn’t want to be there, doesn’t care, and just wants to get back to the NHL… Looks like our boy doesn’t realise that once Cedar Falls gets a hold of you, you’re never leaving! He’s a secret softie for her (not all the time, iykwim)
The experiment, the fake relationship, the bargaining, the contract - comedy gold. But oh my… the spice!!! Phwoar!!!! It also had some surprisingly serious moments and tender scenes to round it off.
Overall, despite being a longer book than I usually read, it was hugely enjoyable. It was relatively fast-paced, didn’t feel like it was that long, and I had a hard time putting it down (partly because I needed to see what calamity was going to happen next!) Such a fun story.

Imagine knowing everything about someone just by smell alone- crazy! Now imagine how that could make a big impact on any sort of love life if your smell is so strong you can’t tune it out if someone has stinky breath or BO- bye bye lover!
This is Aprils problem until a charity event puts her in the arms of bad boy hockey player Ronan who just so happens to not have any distinctive smell. April uses her scientific background to formulate an experiment with Ronan to see if his non distinctive smell is a one time thing or could allow for some closer smell free mingling.
This book seriously had me laughing out loud at the banter between April and her two besties and the clinical nature of trying to keep this relationship she has with Ronan as an experiment and nothing more. I loved every second of Ronan’s character growth and April’s self-discovery. These two truly complete each other and I hope to see them again in any future stories that may happen in Cedar Falls.

The FMC, April, is going through life overstimulated because of multiple conditions she has. She has learned to manage it but she is navigating being too much and a sort of circus performance when she just wants to be seen as herself. The MMC, Ronan, is wanting to be seen as the real him, not the PR version and no one sticks around long enough to care. His dad throws money at "issues" and they disappear but he has learned, slowly, that money doesn't fix life nor does it create an environment to be known in.
Together to repair themselves they have a fake relationship, but as all small towns do, the story gets away from them quickly. Their situationship turns into friendship, due to a love of good food made with care, then blooms into more that scares both of them. Their friends and teammates and the town foster their personal growth and they try to figure out if those lines are parallel or perpendicular to each other. He wants to go back to the NHL and she wants to see if she really can have a future with someone, not just alone.

Wow—I loved this storyline. Who doesn’t enjoy a little science, chemistry, and experiments all tied into a sports romance? Normally, April can’t take a relationship any further because of her superhuman sensory skills, but with Ronan, she doesn’t experience the usual sensory overload—which only makes her want to test their chemistry even more. Without giving too much away, the author takes you on a rollercoaster ride as these two enter a testing period that moves from fake dating to heated encounters and ultimately a beautiful HEA. Filled with banter, spicy hot moments, and emotional growth, this is a story you won’t want to end. Strong supporting characters bring humor and depth, making the story even more enjoyable.

I loved April's unique gift and as much as it's a curse it's a talent — has to be hard to find love when you can smell everything about a person. This makes the first meeting with Ronan unforgettable, awkward, and quite possibly one of the best meet-cutes I've ever read. When the quirky scientist and rugged hockey player make a "scientific agreement" to test his scent and her limitations, the results are purely comical and totally unique and had me laughing hysterically! But watching their connection grow as they navigated their feelings past the scientific experiment was truly special. This story was packed with witty banter, building chemistry, hysterical mishaps, and some extremely spicy moments that kept me turning the pages. I have never read anything like it!

Did you ever read a book that captured your heart so much that you actually forced yourself to slow down because you didn't want it to be over?? That is what this book did to me! I rode the fine line between can't get enough and read fast and slow down because I don't want this to end!!
Follow the story of yummy, bad boy, hockey player Ronan as he quietly reforms his bad boy stereotype while adjusting to small town life in Cedar Falls. Then there is April, a brainiac, taste and smell expert, coffee shop owner, who is too over stimulated to get close to any guys, until she meets Ronan aka, torso #7. They agree to experiment together for April's sake and then fake date for Ronan's sake...until it's no longer an experiment or faking.
You will love the banter in this book - the texting, the teasing and all the supporting characters. His teammates, her best friends, and nosy small-town neighbors. It's easy to get lost in Cedar Falls and fall in love with April and Ronan.
This book is absolutely a green (you'll have to read to find out!) and definitely one you don't want to miss out on! Happy reading :)
Book 2 of Cedar Falls Rookies. Can be read as a standalone but why would you skip the first book?!
'~ Fake Date A Bad Boy—a scorching, laugh-out-loud hockey rom-com where the good girl writes the contract, the bad boy ignores the fine print, and the experiment definitely needs a safe word.'
Gah! What a ride, what a read! I'm still giggling. :)
The characters were very appealing and likeable and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was exciting and funny and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. All in all a great addition to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend!
Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy!.

I fell in love with Cedar Falls in book 1, April and Ronan are amazing. This book was addictive, as soon as April smells the fireman I was hooked. Poor Ronan had no idea what was happening when April won him at auction. There are so many factors that make this book amazing. The fact that April is a strong, independent, highly intelligent woman makes her character such an incredible FMC. Ronan being judged and stuck with a reputation that’s not him. These two connect in a way that is perfect for their particular situations. I laughed so hard, became emotionally connected and was so happy with the way the book ended. This is an excellent read. I can’t wait for book 3.

Fake Date A Bad Boy is book two in The Cedar Falls Rookies romcom series.
I really LOVE this series! This book can be read as a stand alone however I would recommend reading the series. Totally worth it IMO!
I think this book was written well. The characters are funny, enjoyable and of course I love them! The FMC is a good girl with an amazing sense of smell, that demands structure. The MMC is a bad boy hockey player trying to stay out of trouble so he doesn't lose his career. I don't want to give away too much but if you enjoy spicy hockey romance then I would recommend adding this book to your TBR!
This is Book 2 in the Cedar Falls Rookies Series by this author, and can be read as a standalone. It is a lighthearted romance between scientist April and hockey player Ronan. These flawed souls and the unique plot make for an entertaining read. What starts out as fake dating turns into something more. It is a sweet love story with drama and steam, sexual tension and chemistry, and twists and turns, plus appealing secondary characters. An engaging page turner.

Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing, and April's heightened sense of smell and taste have kept men at arm's length - literally. Ronan may be the exception, but when their experiment goes from data collecting to something more, they both might just get more than they bargained for. Sweet and sexy, smart and hilarious - Fake Date a Bad Boy has it all. Colour? Very, very green! IYKYK!
ANOTHER GREAT EMMA BLOOM BOOK! April & Ronan’s Story
LOVE the “Cedar Falls Rookies Seriesl as much as I loved the lCedar Falls Romance Series”. Ronan & April’s story pulled me in immediately and kept me reading through to the end. There was laugh-out-loud humor and steamy, spicy encounters, as well as tear inducing passages. Highly Recommend
I found April and Ronan to be 2 sweet, sexy, spicy and hilarious characters all perfectly written in this romance book. I absolutely loved, loved reading this book!!! Such a great hockey romance story that you must read to see why it's not just another romance book but a 5-star read at that.
