Michio and his wife Aveline are founders of The Kushi Institute, now in Becket, Massachusetts.

This is a book that is larger than life. Perhaps the best wholistic book I've ever read. However, I did read two of Kushi's books previously, but they were far to partial for me to grasp the whole dream of a man behind them... But this - this is certainly something anyone interested in LIFE, peace and prosperity of the entire Gaia needs to read. The foundation is sound and balanced nutrition, but then it goes well beyond that.
Why? Even those of us who are increasingly becoming aware of our nutrition are mostly motivated by fear. We are afraid of getting sick, dying a terrible death, poisoning our loved ones, polluting the planet and so on... With that fear we count calories, read ingredients (pretending to understand them), search pub.med, obsess over antioxidants and so on. Yes, we eat better, but does that make for a better experience? Haven't we forgot to enjoy food as a fundamental constituent part of simply being alive.
Michio Kushi teaches us how to come back to eating not with fear but with love. Each meal should be a celebration of life and being a part of Gaia's dance. A healthy meal that is prepared and consumed with love and enjoyment leads to a happy and peaceful person and that person is a fundament of a happy and peaceful society. It is not just about what you eat, it is equally important how you eat it. And that western nutritional approach (powered with fear) so horrifically lacks.
