Rate this book
Leaving his old life behind, Corey Wells moves to Fenside Common in search of friendship and a safe haven. He expects anonymity, peace, and a fresh start. What he doesn’t expect is Nash Foster.

Nash is many things to many people. Big brother. Doctor. Caretaker. And soon, he’ll be a father too. The last thing he needs right now is a distraction – especially one as gentle, captivating, and quietly resilient as Corey. But attraction rarely listens to logic, and before too long the chemistry between them threatens to break every rule Nash set for himself.

When Corey’s past catches up to him, Nash can no longer deny his feelings, but Corey must make some difficult choices.

While Nash navigates fatherhood, Corey works on battling his own demons and finding hope in each new day. When the realities of being a single parent to a little girl get too much for Nash, Corey steps in to help, and it doesn’t take long before the three of them start to settle into something a lot deeper, something that looks a lot like family. A new beginning.

A heartfelt, steamy MM romance about healing, found family, and the kind of love that burns brighter with each sunrise.

This was such a beautiful story! Book 1 in this series, After the Rain made me fall in love with the Fosters and their friends from Fenside Common and now we're back to read the story of Corey and Nash, who is the eldest Foster sibling. We had little glimpses of their story in the first book, jut now we got the whole story. A part of this book runs concurrently with book 1 and we get to see some scenes from a different perspective. I do feel like this book could be read as a standalone but it's more enjoyable if read after book 1.
I just loved Corey and Nash. Their journey is not straightforward and they do encounter some bumps along the way, but their feelings for each other never waver, getting more strong with every passing second. I really liked the mental health rep and how Corey wanted to be better, know himself better without the constraints his former life put on him. I really appreciated him working on himself before jumping into a relationship with Nash, even if that would have been so easy. Nash is such a caretaking sweetheart! I loved how he took care of his loved ones, even if he was a bit strict with organizational stuff. He liked to be in control, which isn't the worst thing 🤭.
This was a slow burn, but honestly I didn't really notice it because I was so engrossed in their story. Nash and Corey's love was so beautiful, pure and strong, it was a joy to watch them get their happily ever after. My heart went out to Corey when he opened up about this history and trauma, but I was so happy to see him finding a loving found family in John, Emma and the Fosters and their friends. I love how everyone is so supportive and helpful.

I laughed, cried, giggled and kicked my feet and loved every moment of reading this book.

Advance reader copy review from the author.

Such a wholesome and heartwarming book. The love story between Corey and Nash is so sweet but what really got my heart is Nancy! It was very unique to show the parental love grows between Nancy and Nash and to see how she gets more and more comfortable with Nash’s family. She is sassy, she’s a diva but she’s also the sweetest little human and she deserves the world. PROTECT NANCY AT ALL COST.

I was cheering as much for her happy ending as for Nash and Corey’s.

This books really warmed my heart.

LIGHT SPOILER DOWN HERE, stop if you don’t want to see:

I know that the series is still being written but I have to say I’m very intrigued about this Cole and Bear tension I saw there.

This was such a sweet and heartwarming story. I loved Nash and Corey so much. Nash being a first time dad and trying to navigate fatherhood by himself. It was great that Corey stepped in and helped. These two are such sweet and kind souls. Seeing them blossom was so rewarding. Really bright warmth to my heart seeing the three of them become a family. Such a beautiful story to read.

If you've read After the Rain, then you've already met Corey Wells and Nash Foster. (If you haven't read it, this book still works, but you'll have a better experience reading them in order.) Like Rain, we meet Corey as he flees from a dangerous domestic situation and finds his footing alone in the world, in some ways for the first time. He makes his way through finding some chosen family of his own, before also reconnecting with Rain and getting to know the Fosters through him. Nash, meanwhile, is going through his own version of trying to handle everything alone and dealing with some big life 'first's, and because of both of their intense life circumstances, their mutual attraction initially seems like a case of right guy, wrong time. However, this being a sweet, cozy, sexy romance novel, they do eventually figure it all out.

As I did in the first book, I got attached to the major characters right away. Children and parenthood don’t do a whole lot for me personally, but I’m always onboard for whatever makes sense within a given character. Nash’s drive to be someone’s parent is evident from the beginning, and Nancy herself is entertaining and a good balance for Nash. Smart and sassy, with the ability to both test boundaries and be vulnerable when she needs reassurance, Nancy is exactly the right amount of chaos Nash’s perfectly ordered life needs. From the beginning, Nancy becomes part of Nash and Corey’s relationship and central to their idea of a home together, exactly as it should be. Including her in , felt like a perfect—and happy-tears-inducing—moment.

I enjoyed the way Nash and Corey's story intertwined with Rain and Aiden, without ever feeling repetitive to read. Corey's and Nash's stories are each fully their own, and once we meet her, Nancy's story is her own as well. In those stories you will find: a headstrong eldest brother humbled by first-time parenthood; beautiful love letters; both found family and a large, welcoming family by birth; low-angst pining and a slow burn; characters who are realistic about what they need and who embrace therapy when they need to heal; seaside seal watching; duck ponds and sunrises; big gestures and quiet moments; and, finally, the kinds of friends and family who give all of it meaning.

First, I’d like to thank Hannah and her team for the Arc of this amazing follow up to After the Rain. As far as second books go, you absolutely knocked it out of the park 💜💜

I went into Sun Rising expecting cozy small-town vibes with a little drama and spice sprinkled in… and WOW did it absolutely deliver (and then some 😭✨).

Right from Corey’s prologue, I felt like I’d accidentally cracked open someone’s private diary—so raw, so vulnerable, and already tugging at my heart.

When Nash’s first chapter began, it felt so good to be back in the Broads—like returning to a place close to my heart, surrounded by old friends. I loved getting a deeper look into his life as a newly-ish single pediatrician hoping to adopt, and seeing more of his role as the older brother—the caretaker and longtime keeper of secrets.

Add in Corey—sweet, thoughtful, and way wiser than any barely over 20 year old has a right to be—and I was fully invested in their “right guy, wrong time” storyline. Which I hated, but also… painfully relatable.

Can we talk about the found family for a second?? Emma and Corey’s instant bestie chaos (wine + snacks + secrets = perfection), Bev and Mike being literal angels on earth, grumpy-sweet John (bear daddy vibes 😂), and the general “everyone is loved here” energy?? I wanted to move into Fenside Commons immediately- I once again found myself checking RightMove out for my own little village in the Broads.

This book seriously ticks every box for me:

✔️ Slow burn (like… SLOW slow, but worth it)
✔️ Angst that physically hurt my chest
✔️ Pen pals (!!)
✔️ Heated rivalry
✔️ Scarlett Drake
✔️ Found family that will emotionally adopt YOU

And when that slow burn finally pays off??? Oh. My. God. We waited, we suffered, and then—BANG. Worth every second 🔥🌶️🔥🌶️.

Also, major love for the emotional maturity in this story. Corey choosing his mental and emotional health, even when it hurts? That’s the kind of character decision that sticks with you. “I want a big, bold, beautiful life”—truer words have never been spoken.

Final thoughts: I laughed, I cried, I wanted hot chocolate + red wine, I rooted so freaking hard for Nash & Corey, and I am now once again emotionally attached to fictional people living in a tiny village.

An absolutely gorgeous follow-up—I’m already impatiently waiting for book three 🤓 📚💜

I was lucky enough to beta read an early version of this story for Hannah, and while I genuinely enjoyed the original draft… this final version absolutely blew me away.

Everything feels heightened in the best way: the emotional weight, the character arcs, the quiet moments, the tension, the healing.

Corey’s journey especially hit me. He’s a character who has been carrying so much for so long, and in this book, we finally get to watch him unravel a little — not in a destructive way, but in a way that makes space for love, vulnerability, and actual healing. He’s allowed to be messy and scared and hopeful, and Hannah writes that with such compassion.

And then there’s Nash. The ultimate caregiver energy. Not in a saviour-y way, not in a “let me fix everything for you” way, but in the rare, tender way where someone shows up consistently and gently and makes it safe for you to breathe again. Nash isn’t perfect, but he’s steady. He’s devoted. He’s patient. And he loves Corey with a depth that feels earned and palpable.

Together, these two build something that feels so real. Their relationship isn’t rushed or forced — it’s grounded in emotional maturity, honest communication, and the kind of connection that develops when two people finally stop running from what they need.

Hannah has once again delivered a story that made me feel everything — the ache, the hope, the fear, the joy, the relief. I loved it. Truly.

And Hannah… about those twins?
Yeah, I’m more than ready. Bring the emotional chaos. I’ll be seated.

Oh man, where to begin with this book? It had everything I love in contemporary romance. A determined main character, a hot bear that knows exactly what he wants, and ADOPTION (holy hell I love me a good adoption story), slow burn but fast attraction, and most importantly... this book had heaps of heart.

Corey stole my heart almost immediately. He was so determined and resilient (even when he doesn't feel strong). His homelessness at the beginning felt really real and my heart just bled for him. Seeing him blossom with Nash and the family was so nice, as was his unfolding relationship with little Nancy.

Nash... what a man. I loved his adoption story with Nancy, I could feel his anxiety and joy through the page. Out of all the characters he felt the most real. All his messy, conflicting emotions were so relatable, but at the end of the day he was just trying to do the right thing by everyone.

The romance was so sweet. A right guy, wrong time type of situation which didn't feel frustrating or rushed. The author took the time to develop this, and those letters... my heart. My stone cold heart may have had a flicker of warmth (only for a half a second, so don't tell anyone).

Overall, a really great read if you just need a little joy in your life for a few hours.

Thank you to the author for the eARC. All opinions expressed are my own. ⚓️🦭🎨👨‍❤️‍👨

Wow, where do I even start? This book? It was fantastic! I don’t even know why I was so surprised after After the Rain, since I already loved that one.

So Corey stole my heart from the very first moment. He was so determined and capable, even when he felt weak. And the beginning of the story? His homelessness? Uhh…
And Nash… ahh, that man… with the adoption storyline and little Nancy? Following his happiness and anxiety throughout the pages? Chef’s kiss. Honestly, it’s no surprise I loved him—he was so likable and felt so real already in After the Rain, so…

I adored watching Corey and Nash’s relationship unfold—from friends to lovers—and this transformation didn’t just happen through messages, but through video calls and even hand-written (!) letters. And when a book like this is described as a slow burn, take it seriously, because this is REALLY a slow burn! But trust me, the wait is so worth it.

Honestly, I don’t even know what else to say, because this book was pure magic: it brought out every possible emotion in me. I laughed, I cried, and yet I still say: if there were only one book I could read for the first time again, it would be this one.

I'd like to thank Hannah for the ARC; here's my honest review

This was such a beautiful, heartwarming read. I already fell in love with the world and characters in After the Rain, and being back in Fenside Common felt like coming home.

Corey and Nash completely stole my heart. Their story isn’t straightforward, definitely a right person, wrong time situation, but their feelings never waver, and watching that slow burn unfold was so worth it. I was so proud of Corey for choosing to work on himself and his mental health before jumping into a relationship, even when it would’ve been easier not to. And Nash? Total caretaker sweetheart. He just wants to love and look after everyone, even if he’s a little control-oriented at times.

The found family in this book is everything. The Fosters, their friends, and the whole “you belong here” vibe just made it so warm and comforting. And Nancy? Absolutely iconic. Sassy, sweet, and deserving of the world. Protect her at all costs.

I laughed, cried, and fully got swept up in their journey. The emotional depth, the slow burn, the growth...it all came together so beautifully.

Such a wholesome, feel-good read with so much heart. I already can’t wait for the next book.

Single dad? ✔️
Knows what he wants? ✔️
Rugged and emotional? ✔️✔️

Yeah… Hannah Fox knows exactly what she’s doing.
You don’t have to read “After the Rain” first as the first part of Sun Rising does recap quite a bit—which helps reconnect you to the story, even if it felt a little repetitive after just finishing book one.
And that nickname? Still not my fave. But, thankfully, it definitely fit better in this story.

BUT—what this book does do right? The family. The love, the acceptance, the way they show up for each other… it’s everything. The adoption storyline was so sweet, and honestly, Nash? Certified book boyfriend.

Corey’s growth really stood out to me too—choosing to leave to protect the people he loves and working on himself? We love to see it.

The only thing that felt a little off for me was the death—it was slightly anticlimactic, but still handled in a way that fit the overall tone of the story.

This book is the perfect mix of soft, emotional moments and SPICY scenes and Hannah delivers on both. When the spice started, it STARTED

Hannah made me cry again with this story—in the best possible way 🥹! I’m just a huge fan of her wonderful, refreshing writing style! Her direct, candid, and charming approach won me over once more. It’s full of humor, yet still so full of feeling and emotion. She handles this mixture so well!

When Corey shows up in Nash’s small hometown, Nash is instantly smitten! Corey has been through a difficult and traumatic time, but he immediately feels safe around Nash. For the first time, Corey experiences what a real home feels like. Not only does Nash support him in every way to make his fresh start easier, but so do his friend Rain and the entire Foster family. This is found family at its very best ❤️!
However, it’s not as simple as it seems, because while he’s the right man, he’s come at the wrong time… Nash is becoming a father and wants to focus entirely on his daughter, and Corey has to deal with his past baggage. Will they still find their way to each other? How will they navigate the time in between? Find out! I love this book and can recommend it with all my heart!

🌄Is Sun Rising a love story?
Yes.
Is it also a story about family, bonds, and healing? 100%.

After reading After the Rain, I thought I knew what I was getting into. But this was a total surprise.

Yes, it was a beautiful love story, but it was definitely so much more.
It feels like you have two stories happening at the same time, slowly finding their way to collide.

Nash, you have the biggest heart. ❤️
Your journey into parenthood, recognizing that becoming a parent and experiencing romantic love don’t always happen at the same time, and still choosing to move forward with your dream of becoming a dad was incredible.
All while taking care of Corey and truly listening to him and his needs.

Corey… baby… I love you the most.
His bravery in realizing that there could be no healthy future with Nash unless he first worked on healing himself… that hit deep.

Right guy, wrong time.
Until it finally became the right time.

What a beautiful book.

I deeply enjoyed Corey & Nash’s story, even though it didn’t read like a typical romance to me. I felt that the story focused more on their personal growth than on their relationship, which is not something I see often when reading this genre.

Would I have loved to see more instances of them as a couple and their relationship growing? YES! But, honestly, it’s still such an amazing story♥️

I loved seeing Corey putting himself first and working on healing after years of abuse. And don’t even get me started on Nash’s journey with fatherhood 😭 I cried so bad the moment he got to meet his little girl 🥹

Sun Rising is a wonderful small town, slow burn romance with a generous helping of spice towards the end. It tells the story of Nash, a medical research doctor, and Corey, a former art teacher, trying to escape his abusive ex. The author beautifully weaves the story of Nash learning to navigate his future as a single dad while Corey comes to grips with his past as their relationship grows, even long distance, from friends to 'right man, wrong time' through text messages, video calls and handwritten letters to 'right man, right time. Both heart warming and heart breaking, this book is worth the read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Nash and Corey get their very well deserved happily ever after in this sweet and swoony book. Sun Rising has it all: the small town vibes, Sassy Scottish Sidekicks, family antics, a dirtbag ex, and just enough kinky funtimes 👀 Corey and Nash have to make some difficult decisions and their road to each other was full of obstacles, but I really enjoyed seeing them find their happy ending.

This was another super cute romance in the Dream Boat series.
Nash and Corey were so cute together and their stories are complex and deep, individually and together.
I read this immediately after read the first book, After the Rain, and it rehashed a huge amount of the first book just from Corey’s perspective. It just felt like rereading the same book at times.
Overall I enjoyed the book!

Alexandra's writing style just sucked me in, I couldn't put it down! I loved Aiden and Lucy together. This is the 3rd book in the windswept series. You could feel Lucy's sweetness and Aiden's love throughout the book. I enjoy a good grumpy single dad trope and Alexandra didn't disappoint! Definitely recommend if you like sunshine x grumpy, single dad, age gap, small town romance!

After a small town romance that feels like a warm hug? Sun Rising has you covered. This is book two in the Dream Boats series but you could read it as a standalone as there is enough recapping.

Book one followed Aidan and Rain, but this one focuses on Aidens hot doctor brother Nash and Rain’s friend Corey as they both experience that classic dilemma of right guy, wrong time.

There are some pretty heavy topics discussed in this story, but it somehow manages to be angsty without feeling like you’re emotionally burnt out at the end of the book.

It was good being back in this world and see how Nash and Coreys story unfolds.

There's so much heartfelt emotion in this slow burn story. I loved Corey from the first time we met him in After the Rain. He's so strong even when he doesn't think he is. Nash is the protector and caretaker, it was so real to follow him on his adoption journey and to being a father.

Corey and Nash are so perfect for each other, I love the little family they made.

And the found family in this series is amazing to get to know!
I really recommend this!

Sun Rising is book 2 of the Dream Boat series.

We’ve already met Corey and Nash, and now these two get their own story. Both of them have reached a point in their lives where they decide that they themselves and their desires truly matter. Hannah beautifully shows how they manage to prioritize not only themselves but also their relationship, and—after some ups and downs—find happiness together.

Thank you for this wonderful story.
