Wow, this was such a funny book! 😂🤣💀 It's a whirlwind of silly moments and daily farm adventures 🚜🌾, and I found myself laughing plenty of times throughout. The vocabulary was lush, the characters were spunky , and the setting was absolutely perfect
So... why am I not giving it a 5-star rating? 👀🤔
Well, to be honest, I didn't love the triplets most of the time 😭🙈.
I found them a little over-the-top rude to their father 🙄🤦‍♀️, and sometimes they were so spoiled that I just wanted to scream at them 😭📢💀! There were also moments where it felt like they switched between two personalities within a few pages—going from spoiled to grateful and then right back again 😭🤷‍♀️.
Because of that, their character growth didn't always feel consistent 🤔📉, which ultimately affected my enjoyment of the story 😕.
Moving on!
I also felt that the plot progression was a bit random at times 🤷‍♀️. I know it's intended to feel more like episodes in a television show, but some sections felt slightly disjointed and could have benefited from smoother transitions 👀.
Lastly, I wish the triplets' transformation by the end of the book had been a little clearer and less confusing 🤔💭.

Again, the vocabulary was lush and the descriptions were vivid and the pacing was well done.

The only thing I would note is that there were a few repetitive words and phrases throughout the story 👀😅 (such as "bulge"), which became a little noticeable after a while 🤏

So... if you're looking for an easy, wholesome read filled with laughter, friendship, and farm adventures, I'd definitely recommend giving this one a try! 🥰📚✨💛

Before I get into the review, let’s all just step back and admire the cover. Absolutely gorgeous!! 💅💄🌸💖 👠

Going into “High Heels and Hay Bales” I was definitely expecting funny quotable moments and it met my hopes! I was grinning and laughing so much! I even showed some of the quotes to my non-reader sister, and she thought they were hilarious!😆

Things I didn’t love:

• The triplets (Bella, Priscilla, and Lacy) did not have the most pleasant attitude in the beginning. It is understandable because of the way that they were raised, but there were a few times that I wanted to slap some sense into them. 😅

•The first few chapters were a little slow but honestly, it didn’t really affect my enjoyment for later.

💖 Things that I LOVED:

•The chapter titles were GREAT. Especially chapter 16! 😜
•The horses!🐴 🐎 They are my favorite animals so I really
enjoyed that content!
•The excellent and high quality writing. I really wished I would have been able to find a book like this in the library when I was little. Books with this type of writing are so hard to find nowadays, so I really appreciate that! 👏
•The silly, humorous moments! I can’t tell you how many times I laughed out loud! 😂
•Cassidy. She was such a witty character and definitely my favorite out the twins.
•The character development!
•How unique the characters were. Some books have such cliche characters but the triplets are the meaning of unique!

My personal Rating- Two Stars (and a half)

When I first heard of this book, it was the cover that attracted me to the story—I mean, look how cute the cover is! It’s adorable and fits the book very well. I was a little nervous about having five main characters and while it took me about fifty pages to get the triplets’ names right and their personalities, I was able to keep them all straight by the end. I do want to note that I was taken aback by a death of a parent that happened in a rather silly manner and the girls being unaffected by it in the first chapter of the book.

I think there were some pros and cons for me, personally, about this book, but I do think other readers would enjoy it more.

Positive- It was well written with a lot of descriptive vocabulary used, which was great!

Con (for me)- I found the triplets to be really over-the-top to the point of being like a Disney Channel character—think like London Tipton on steroids…but three of her. They have eighty closets, eat with actual gold spoons, and easily spend a million dollars on a shopping spree. There were a ton of designer name name-dropping throughout the almost 400-pages which got to be a bit much for my tastes.

Both- I didn’t love the triplets in general, but I did grow to like the youngest, Lacy, as she started to become more open to farm life. Priscilla was really mean to her sisters at times and I found myself frustrated by her and her comments. Thankfully, there’s some decent character development and lessons learned, so I was glad to see the changes in both the triplets and the twins towards each other and the other sister group’s interests. I wish it had come sooner because some of the triplet’s spoiled attitudes and crazy spending had me flabbergasted and it took me about halfway through the book to get into the story.

I was expecting at least a bit more faith content in this book, so I was disappointed by the lack of it in this story. Hopefully book two in the duology will have more of it and also the triplets becoming a little more down-to-earth with the changes that will be happening in their lives. **Edit to add: After posting this review, it's come to my attention that this book is marketed and was published as Clean Fiction, so that's why there wasn't much faith content. My apologizes for the misunderstanding and I want to give a note correcting this.

I think I probably would have enjoyed this book a bit more when I was younger, perhaps around ages 12/13. Our main characters were a little too dramatic for my reading tastes now, but some readers may be okay with that. Some families may not care for all the brand name-dropping or the comments about diets and counting carbs even though it’s played up and boarder-lines on ridiculous and impossible as times, so I think this book may only work for those who can understand the over-the-top elements to this story and be entertained by it. For me, I think I'm too sensible for this kind of plot-line and characters.

I received this ebook ARC in exchange for an honest review. Shout out to Keira for letting me read her debut novel! First off, let me just say how cute this cover is! I just love it! This book is unlike anything I’ve ever read before and I don’t think I will read anything quite like it. The best word to describe it and sum it up is delightful! It is funny, witty, silly, and all around a good time! Skylar was definitely my favorite character. Her sassy comments and book loving personality was what made her so good. Cassidy was great too, although a bit naïve at times. Those triplets were one of a kind. I don’t really know how to describe them…haha! Wow at the beginning they were something else. I would’ve lost my mind…haha! But I was hooked from the start and enjoyed the entire journey, and the ways that each of the characters grew and matured. It does start off in a way I never expected and that’s all I’ll say cause of spoilers. There were so many good comments and funny parts that had me laughing, smiling and grinning. I do wish there was a bit more face content. But overall, it was a great read. I think it is something that younger girls will definitely enjoy. It’s something that you can hand them that is clean and sure to put a smile on their faces. I admit, I knew how it was going to end and I was all for it. I’m excited to read book two and whatever else this author writes.

WOW. There was a lot happening.

🐎First, I just wanna thank the author for letting me read the ARC for my honest review! I really appreciated and enjoyed this experience. 💄

💅- - > To start off with, the writing was so good! It really made me mad at the triplets a lot, which is how you know the author is talented.

🐓I loved all the animal scenes! I love animals, and getting to read about them was amazing! I am kind of
like the triplets, I would freak if animals…unmentionable substances…got on me. And it being set on a farm was just so cool, and all the details about living on one? Yes please! 🐶🐷🦋

📚I adored Skylar and Cassidy, their personalities are just so sweet and fun. And Skylar loving to read?? I see myself in her, especially the sometimes short temper 😂

👗It was really cool to see the different between the city and country lifestyle, especially how rich and spoiled they were. The talking was accurate, and they were SO spoiled, I was honestly flabbergasted.

💌The poem sent to Priscilla almost had me crying from laughter, I loved it! 💌

What I didn’t like:

Okay so I did give this a 3.5 because while I loved some parts, I disliked others.

🌿There was a lot happening every chapter. I know that was kind of the point, but I feel like there was no room for them to change or become better friends. It was very chaotic and I don’t like that in books. 🪵

☀️Imo, there was no character development. They were spoiled one day, likeable the next and it just kind of left me wondering where the change came from. 🍰

However, I think I’m the only one who thought that, but that is my personal opinion. I do think I would’ve loved this as a 10-12 year old!

What a unique book! I’ve never read anything like it before. The character work was phenomenal, and even the spoiled brats grew one me.

After many laughs (more like guffaws), cringes (even I know horses aren’t immortal, Lacy), and visits to grandma’s med kit, I settled on a five star rating for this fundamentally fun-fueled fiction. I cannot wait for the sequel. Wonderful job, Keira, and thank you so much for the ARC!

Priscilla - I loved her character growth especially! The way she began to treat Lacy better really made me happy, as an older sister myself. Her relationship with Skylar I also found so amusing! They’re so similar yet so different.

Bella - I couldn’t help imagine her brunette for some reason 😭 In my mind, she looks nothing like her triplets, even though they’re all identical. Not sure if it’s because all the Bellas I have known have been brunette, but I also think it fit her vibe better 😂 I did love her though! She made me laugh a lot.

Lacy - This girl cracked me up!! She was so ridiculous but in the best way possible. I loved everything about her, even when she was still snobby.

Skylar - Oh how ten year old me would have loved her. I would’ve related to her painfully bad. I’ve changed a bit over the years, but I still found her to be similar to myself! I loved her.

Cassidy - Oh my darling, never change! She was so kind and sweet to everyone, even when they weren’t that way to her. We need more people like her! Some may say she’s naive, but she sees the best in people—even when there isn’t any to see.

Grandma Mary - She was so funny! Never once met a grandmother character I haven’t liked. There’s just something about them!

The Bradley Boys - Since there’s like, eight of them, and I can’t remember any of their names (they all start with B 🤣) I thought I’d just lump them together. They had me cackling! Their antics were hilarious, though I definitely also shared some of Skylar’s exasperation.

What a delightful read! Completely clean and so fun to experience! It was filled with genius humor and comebacks, a tentative and slow burn friendship between five girls from two different worlds. It has the entertaining absurd humor of Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse and the country charm of any redneck’s dream.

I really appreciated that this was not romance focused, and that the girls found the love notes and admiration from the teenage boys laughable instead of something to fawn over. It really puts an emphasis on preserving your youth and not having to focus on romantic relationships when you’re hardly (or not even) in high school.

I also LOVED that the writing was not super simplistic! The writing today, especially in most middle grade books, is so dumbed down that it’s excruciating to read. I liked that this writing was advanced, witty, and experienced without being too difficult for a young audience, but still helping them develop higher reading skills. I wish more middle grade books, or even young adult books, were like this.

Lacy Prichardson was my favorite of the triplets. She reminded me of Pinky Pie from My Little Pony with her silly, random comments, obstinate optimism, and quirky personality. Skyler was definitely the second favorite for the characters in this novel, even though she is pretty much the polar opposite of Lacy. I loved her sarcasm and snarky comments. All-in-all, I love all the characters, how they grew, and how their relationships were formed all in different ways.

I 100% recommend to anyone wanting a clean story for younger readers but also older readers too! I think this is a novel that can be enjoyed by all ages, as there is something for almost everyone within these pages. I will most certainly be purchasing my own copy once it releases!

Characters: I LOVED these girls! I definitely related to Skylar a lot, but also Cassidy too! And throughout the story, I grew to love Priscilla, Bella, and Lacy so much! Lacy was my favorite; she’s such a sweetheart! The character development was done so well! The triplets were absolute BRATS at the beginning, but they grew so much and I thought the pacing of that was done really well. They didn’t just switch personalities one day, they went back and forth a lot which I appreciated. Their old ways weren’t forgotten about completely, they just learned how to overcome them.

Who would I recommend this book to? I think all ages can enjoy it! I just finished my junior year of high school and loved it! My 12 year old sister is reading it right now and I think she’s loving it too! (I’ve been away all week and haven’t seen her, but she’s been reading it in several pictures I’ve gotten of her) I think most elementary/middle school girls would love it. It has a higher vocabulary for those girls who read above their grade level but want something still appropriate for their age, which I really appreciated! Some boys may enjoy book, but it is definitely catered towards girls.

FINALLY GOT TIME TO DO MY REVIEW!! YAYY!!

🐎🐄🤠CHARACTERS 💅👠👗: So to start off with, I don’t mean to be rude Keira, but the triplets got on my nerves. BUT NEVER FEAR THEY REDEEMED THEMSELVES!!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥰 After a little bit of time with the twins, even just a bit of time, I reallllyyyy started to like them. Especially Lucy (bless that girls heart she deserves better sisters in the beginning and she does get them in the end)!!

Lucy and Skylar were my favorites because I really liked Lucy’s willingness to try the country girl things. Also Skylar’s temper since she’s a lot like me in the fact that I wouldn’t be as patient as Cass was with the triplets. They were all amazing characters but these two stuck out to me the most.

☁︎⭐︎💜THE PLOT💜⭐︎☁︎: This is by far the most orginal book I’ve ever read. Like seriously? A story with no cussing, no spice (cause it’s not a romance), that is about three spoiled girls coming to live in the country with two country girls and having huge amounts of self growth? I’ve never read or even heard of anything simillar and I loved it!! It was amazing.

OH MY GOSH!! THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING! I loved this book so much and it was so funny! This book definitely gave me vibes of Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse! And I love that show. I cannot wait for the next one to come out! This book was clean too! I related most to the country girls so much. There was so much going on in this book, but that didn't bother me. I loved that every chapter they were always trying something new or going on an adventure! So, my favorite characters were:

Grandma Mary. She was hilarious! I loved her from the second she was in the book. She was so funny, kind, and understanding. When the girls had a fight and she was in the other room yelling at them! I laughed so hard at the part! She was such a great character!
Some of my favorite quotes from her:

"I don't hear any talking!" Grandma Mary called.
"Do I need to come back in?" asked Mrs. Spencer.
"I'm sorry." "For what?" her grandmother demanded from afar.

Skylar: She reminded me of myself so much. Because she liked to read and liked to keep to herself. I feel like I would have a short temper too if I had to deal with three city girls like that. And when she got the triplets to read! That made me so happy!

Cassidy: She was so lighthearted and never let the triplets get her down even when they were so mean to her. I loved it when she was always suggesting doing things on the farm. She was also so kind and very sweet! I loved her attitude of never letting anybody get her down. She was also very creative, which I think is awesome!

Out of the triplets Lacy had to be my favorite. She was just so energetic. And when she finally stood up to Priscilla, I was so proud of her! I did like all of the triplets, but she was my favorite. At the beginning, Priscilla sorta got on my nerves because she was the leader and Bella and Lacy would do whatever she said. I felt so bad for them for the first half of the book because the med kit was always out. And for some reason I kept imagining Bella with brown hair! I couldn't help myself.

Some of my favorite parts in this book was when the girls did harvesting the garden, tractor driving, taking care of animals, learning to clean, baking and cooking, and horseback riding. So basically, the whole book! I loved the sleepover they had. And when the triplets actually enjoyed reading! My taste is like Lacy's. I need something with princes and princesses. I really liked it when they were in the garden or talking about books. Oh, another favorite part was when they were at the Bradley farm and Priscilla beat one of the boys in a competition!

I do have to say, I didn't like it when Priscilla kicked the chick. It did nothing to her and didn't deserve that treatment.

Every time I wasn't reading this book, I wished I was. This book was amazing! The author did such a great job at writing it and I can't wait to read the next! I wish I could just jump to the farm to hang out with them right now. There are not enough words to describe how much I enjoyed this!

YES YES YES! This book was amazing and perfect for summer! If you enjoy farms, country vs city,

╰┈➤ When I read the description for this book I knew I had to read it. As a girl who grew up on Barbie, watched every variation of LEGO girls that they produced, and sort of fell into the livestock world… this felt like a good fit.

I could easily see why the author related those two shows to the book, and I’d even add my addition of Parent Trap to the mix :)

It had all the chaos, giggles, and closeness or lack thereof that comes with family. I enjoyed the aspect of city to town life, especially seeing it in a sibling relationship versus a hallmark movie haha.
And I’m absolutely pumped to see if there’ll be a sequel? 👀

If you enjoy sibling banter, found family, and city girls in the countryside I would totally recommend this book for you!! This is for the animal lovers, and the fashionistas and every girl in between <3

I’m absolutely in love with what the author did with her age bracket in giving younger girls who read above their grade level a CLEAN book that fits where they’re at.
I could definitely feel the middle grade fiction at times, but as someone who usually reads YA, it still felt very engaging and enjoyable.

5 stars!!! Wow, that was so good!!

I haven't ever read a book quite like this before, and it was so refreshing and hilarious!! I absolutely LOVED Keira's writing style and the humor. I loved the characters and their antics, and I especially loved Lacy and Skylar. I also loved how vast the vocabulary in this book is, and I learned a ton of new words while reading this.😂😂

I enjoyed that while Priscilla Lacy and Bella were similar they each had their own unique personalities instead of just being "stuck up city girls", and the same for Skylar and Cassidy, who are both country girls but have their own personalities and interests.

The character development was great, and I loved how the country girls and the city girls learned how to meet each other in the middle and respect what each other liked while still not completely changing their personalities. It was also so cool to see Priscilla, Bella and Lacy learn to enjoy a more simple life and end up defending it when their snobby city friends criticized it.

I haven't read a book this entertaining in a while, and it might be the funniest book I've ever read. I think it's my new comfort book!! It's SO quotable, and I think I'll be saying "Just breathe, it's, like, not even that hard!" for a while. I'll definitely need to get the physical copy so I can annotate it!!

𖤐 the head-hopping and occasional omniscient narrator was sometimes disorienting (mostly at the beginning of the book—it became unnoticeable by the end!) and tbh maybe i’m just rusty on this style bc the last book i read with perspective like this was 𝘼𝙣𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙂𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙨.
𖤐 i noticed seven typos which is a bit more than i would like to see (one of which was a new paragraph starting in the middle of a sentence), but keep in mind, this is a debut novel—and a very good one at that!

if you are feeling discouraged at the beginning of the book, make sure you continue bc the friend-group dynamic only improves and by the end, you might love it as much as i did! those last few chapters…AGH, I LOVED THEM SO MUCHHH!!

ok, now i gotta go recommend this book to anyone who’ll listen, especially my girl cousins who’re in middle school who i think would ADORE this! but wdym book two isn’t out yet? *sobs into pillow*

Before I begin, I want to preface that the last time I read a book in this genre/style/vibe was probably close to five years ago. That's around when I started discovering my personal tastes--if you look at my favorites shelf, you will see a list full of murder, politics, mystery, all the things authors like Dennis Lehane find interesting. Now, if I DID read a book of this sort more recently, it was:

A). A reread of something from when I was around 8-11 years old.
B). 100% done out of spite, which means I enjoyed tearing it apart quite a bit.

High Heels and Hay Bales didn't fall into either of those categories, so for a middle grade book that I normally wouldn't pick up, I really liked it. Thanks for the ARC, Keira! It was a privilege to be one of the first!

High Heels and Hay Bales is about a set of triplets girls named Priscilla, Bella, and Lacy Prichardson, who happen to be the daughters of the richest man on Earth, and set of farmer twins named Cassidy and Skylar. One summer, the triplets' father abandons them at the twins' farm for the summer while he runs off to do his own business. However, the triplets don't know that they're, in fact, NOT having a vacation to some exotic location, so when they realize where they're going to spend their summer, they are not happy. Meanwhile, the twins, who were also not fully briefed on this, have to accommodate them. The result is a crazy summer where there's not one day without incident as the Prichardsons learn to adapt to life outside of their *cough* skyscraper.

First off, I want to say hats off to Cassidy, Skylar, and their grandmother for their patience and being the better human beings, because if I were in their situation, those girls would have been kicked off of the farm by the end of the first week. I don't have that kind of strength.

Now, despite being a book that is deeply unserious in tone and nature, there was actually considerable character growth. The Prichardsons are nicer, more down-to-earth girls by the end of the book, even though they are ecstatic to return to their old way of life. Cassidy, and especially, Skylar don't view them as shallow anymore.

All of the incidents are creative, and you can tell the author really put time into creating them. It's the kind of book that recognizes itself and runs with all of the absurdity, making it really silly but sweet all at the same time. Also, she did her research on all of the little things. The book is more on the episodic side, but knowing it was written to be that way, I didn't find it to be an issue.

Overall, an entertaining, heartfelt story about learning to change your perspective and love new experiences! All of the characters are special in their own ways, and you'll find yourself randomly smirking or laughing throughout the entire story! Pick this one up when it comes out!

˗⤷ ゛ ˎˊ˗ This book was so fun!! I was chuckling my way through the whole thing. While I didn’t ever watch a ton of Barbie Life in the Dream house growing up, I definitely picked up on the Barbie and Lego friends vibes.

And the cover!!! 😱😱It fits the book so well!!! Not only is it unique because it’s pink (I don’t know all that many books with pink covers) but it’s so cute!! I feel like the cover of a Barbie-inspired book could easily have a very cheesy/tacky cover but this one is so charming!!! It honestly reminds me a lot of the cover A Lady’s Guide to Marvels and Misadventure by Angela Bell, only pink themed 😊
Also the writing style of this book is fabulous!! Keira does a fantastic job with Alliteration. The writing style is so witty!! I will admit that I was lost at times through a few sentences, (mainly because of all of the triplets’ generous descriptions of their possessions lol), but think the wordiness helped to fully describe the triplets “over-the-topness” if you will 😆

I also really enjoyed reading a contemporary book again. All of the modern tech references and brand names were really funny to me. And I loved the farm setting. Coming from a farming family, I really appreciated the tractor scenes lol.
And the triplets’ redemption story was so wonderful to read!! I think my favorite chapter was chapter 35, when they started diving into the reading world. I also thought, even with all the comical scenes in this book, that this book was a good lesson in the value of hard work. It was refreshing to see how the twins’ lifestyles were so much more fulfilling than the triplets’ life styles. Honestly this book reminded me to get off my phone and go outside!! 😆

Also, I almost forgot to mention how eager I am for book two! I was wondering how there was possibly enough room in that ending to bring everything together 🤣
I’m wondering if book 2 is maybe going to be a flip-flopped version of this one, if readers know what I mean 😉


Content:
This book is super clean, but I always try my best to include any content. Many of these things I don't consider inappropriate to read but I always want to share the info for those that may feel differently :)

The triplets are quite rude to one another throughout the beginning of the book. The word "stupid" is used some, as well as "idiot." At one point the triplets call an older woman a "dumpy old lady"
The triplets encourage Cassidy to wear a dress that is described as being too short. Sometimes the triplets wear revealing clothing. They explain to Cassidy at one point that wearing a V-neck dress will help her "flaunt her assets." There is one fist fight where the girls are punching each other. There is a small amount of blood. One of the girls gets a bloody nose and another girl some gashes and a black eye.

Age Recommendation:
8-9+
Obviously the content in this book isn't an issue, so as long as a child can comprehend this book it would be great! I would say as far as the language this book is for more advanced middle-grade readers, but I also agree with Keira that there need to be more challenging books on the market for middle-graders. Even as a young adult, I know I grew my vocabulary a lot with this witty book!

This is a first book by a talented young lady with an amazing vocabulary and sly and dry sense of humor. Give it a try...she is nearly done with the sequel!

Overall, I enjoyed it.
I struggled through the first third because the city girls’ lack of knowledge about farm life seemed unrealistic. For example, they didn’t know that milk came from cows or that food didn’t simply come from the store. I felt Keira exaggerated how little they knew about farm life and life in general.
However, the story improved after the first third, and I enjoyed seeing the girls gradually get along and become friends. There were also some comical moments that I appreciated.

I was an arc reader for this hilarious and witty book by my friend Keira. And oh my goodness! This book was an absolute hoot! It’s so different from any and every book I’ve ever read, but man if I had had this in middle school… I would have been unstoppable.

10/10 I definitely recommend to girls of all ages!! It’s completely clean and full of laughs. There were so many quotes, scenes, and moments that had me grinning and chuckling. I love the fact that there’s a rich lush vocabulary, perfect for advanced readers. I was an advanced reader in middle school, so I felt too old for
most middle grade but too young for YA. This book is PERFECT for that inbetween stage.

I will recommend this book to every book (or horse!) girly I meet.

Cheers to High Heels and Hay Bales -the perfect gift for that horse girl in your life. Or the fashionista, or the Barbie fan, or the Lego Friends girly, or well… anyone!!! This book is so funny, creative, and episodic in its writing. It’s sort of like reading an episode of a show in every chapter.

Skylar and Cassidy were definitely my favorites, and Lacy and Priscilla were hilarious. Bella was the perfect middle child 😂💕 I relate so much to Skylar she is so me. As a horse girl, equestrian, AND bookworm who prefers pages to people… yeah we have a lot of similarities.

Even while I am a personal friend to the author and assisted in some portions of HH&HBs editing, all thoughts are my own! I really did truly enjoy this novel and it would have been my all time favorite book if it had been around while I was in middle school.

I don't typically read middle grade books, but this one makes me reconsider that decision. Like, seriously, if I were still in middle grade or early high school, this would have been one of my top favorite books of all time. Even with reading it now, High Heels and Hay Bales is definitely my favorite middle grade book that I've read!

I grew up watching all the old Barbie movies, Barbie: Life in a Dreamhouse, and LEGO Friends, so to say my inner child was thrilled while reading HH&HB would be an understatement, lol. This book was very entertaining. Although there are a couple of things that might possibly be a touchy subject for some kids, but overall this book is very clean, and it has some great lessons in it. It really was such a great book, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it! (I actually have a cousin who is within my recommended age rating who loves Barbie, pink, and horses, and also has a personality that's a mixture of all five of the girls in this book, so I will definitely be forcing her to read HH&HB as soon as I can 😏🤭) *Update! My cousin read it and loved it!*

Oh, and this book had so many funny moments! You wouldn't believe how many highlights I made 😆 The quotes weren't pure gold…. They were pink rhinestone encrusted cowboy books – ah-maz-ing, incredible, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!! 🤩

I will say, though, that some people might potentially get aggravated with the characters and possibly want to DNF, but trust me, it does get better! I never once wanted to stop reading, but if there's anyone who does, I recommend to keep going! 🙃

For this being the debut book of an indie author, I am very impressed! If I hadn't known better, I honestly would have assumed Keira had one of two books already published. I can't wait to read more from her in the future!

(On a more random note, I had such a hard time choosing a song for this review 😭 Like, most of the Barbie songs fit in some way, which I love, but at the same time it was so difficult because, like, how dare I be made to choose between some of my favorite songs?! 🥲🫠)

⤷ The heiresses–Lacy, Priscilla, and Bella:
They definitely drove me crazy for a good bit of the book, but they endeared themselves to me by the end. Before reading this book, I really thought that Bella would be my favorite, but surprisingly Lacy turned out to be the favorite! Also, it was really sad to read about just how much they were concerned about their appearance, especially in the first half of the book. I know that's something many teens worry about nowadays, but it just heartbreaking to see them as 8 year old thinking that eating one piece of cake would make them fat… and then all their thoughts as 14 years olds… by the end they had embraced the idea of eating a bit more unhealthier foods, but their mindset of still somewhat there. It will make them more relatable to the ages it's marketed to, and ones that are not, but I do hope that they continue to grow past that mindset in the next book…

⤷ The country girls–Skylar and Cassidy:
The way my personality is so similar to Skylar's sometimes is crazy… I had an easier time liking these two, though there were still some times that I wanted to go full on “oldest sister mode” to them like I do my own siblings. 😂

This book was super cute! It opened in such a volatile way that I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it at the end, and some of the things that happened to the girls made me deeply concerned for their safety and rather understanding of their apprehensions (if not all aspects of their character). The plot developed in an expected yet unique way, and I had a fun time just going with the flow of the book and losing myself in the silly, yet heartfelt antics and messaging. The book sucked me in, and I finished it in one sitting in the span of about four hours. You'll never be bored reading, that's for sure.

Something I loved in particular was the degree of nuance High Heels and Hay Bales had. Change wasn't immediate, and the city girls didn't abandon all of their habits and perspectives, but rather were influenced by their new environment to become more down-to-earth people. The same thing happened to the country girls, though to a lesser degree. In the end, they all respect each other, even if they don't completely agree with each other on their lifestyle choices.

This was such a cute read! Was it perfect? No, of course not, but it was amazing for a debut novel by a young author!

I adored the girls, especially Cassidy! The character development was brilliant, and I liked how they didn't change completely, just started to understand each other.

This is perfect for littles and older sisters, moms, aunts... pretty much anyone to read together! I'm thinking about getting the smaller girls in my church a copy for their birthdays and we'll read it together!

My only thing is that some of the words were big and might be hard for little ones to understand, but that could also be a way to work on vocab!

Clearly the oldest. No doubt about it. Prissy leads her sisters through the farm with enough screamie-meenies to last decades. I loved her!! A snippy, prissy, stuck-up diva, always with something to say and a point to prove. She tries her hand at anything her sisters do, determined to be the best of the best. Even while hating literally everything. She is last to come around to the farm and first to pick a fight with anyone. Snobnoxious, makeup fiend, fashionista, Priscilla is the perfect eldest daughter for the richest man in the world. (Her name is my favorite to say, it just rolls off the tongue so well lol!)

-Bella Pricharson
Obvious middle child. She is Priscilla's shadow and minion, but able to be her own person. I loved who with Priscilla to criticize her, Bella is actually a smart and kind person. Nail obsessed yes, Priscilla obsessed yes, boy obsessed yes, knows where carrots and milk come from, no. I found her to be a great character, so similar yet so different to her sisters. (Sorry for not including more Bella, I don't know what else to say...)

-Lacy Pricharson
The youngest child, not usually a fan-fav, but she is my favorite Pricharson sister. She adds so much humor and laughable lines to the story, you can always expect wild, half-baked ideas from her. Lace is usually wrong, but on the right track when trying to explain something, it's hilarious! She tries really hard and volunteers for everything, even volunteering her sisters for more site-seeing. She is first to love the farm and last to be excited about going home. One thing I really liked is how Lacy develops during the book, especially at the end. She is such an interesting character. Lacy is an absolute hoot!

-Skylar Spencer
Snarky, independant, bossy, and a ponytail girl. Skylar is definitely based off Keira (trust me, I live with her). She totally hates the city girls at the beginning, annoyed by their antics all the time. Especially when they first arrive. Eventually, her character changes and she warms up to her new sisters (even if she doesn't know it yet). Skylar is smart, witty, and down to Earth. She fits right in with the collection of personalities of everyone else!

-Cassidy Spencer
Skylar's polar opposite. The sun to the moon. Cassidy is an incredible sweet ray of literal sunshine. She loves cooking, baking, animals (especially babies), art, and her community. Always the optimist, Cassidy manages to single-handedly balance out all the snarkiness and rudeness from her companions. She is no doubt my favorite character, I find myself relating to her so much throughout the story.

-Grandma Mary
If anyone hates on this granny, they'll end up with a cream pie to the face. Grandma Mary is the perfect farm grandma, always in the kitchen and always loving unconditionally (we should all take notes from her). She doesn't tolerate unkindness, and fosters a loving household. My favorite part about her might be that she drives like a maniac. I love it. 100/10 best fictional grandmother I've ever read. You will love her. If you don't, read the first line again.

love. Love. LOVE! This book! It is perfect for families of all ages. It is so utterly hilarious and full of fun! The only thing was I thought Mr. Prichardson was a little...strange. It might just be me but I thought his character was a little weird to say the least. Besides that, this book is a truly amazing read for everyone and I just know you'll love it! Keira is an amazing writer and I cannot wait for the second book to come out!

Edit: Guys. There are a couple reviews that say "tHe tRiPLeTs wErE sOoO oVeR tHe tOp aNd aNnOyiNg!" so uh, has it ever occurred to you that the triplets are SUPPOSED to be that way!? They're supposed to be spoiled, supposed to be over-the-top, supposed to be absolute BRATS. Okay?! Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. (Priscilla, Bella, and Lacy are the daughters of the richest (and widowed) man on Earth, y'all need to understand that).

High Heels and Hay Bales is a very light story compared to what I was reading at the time. I liked it as a middle-grade novel. It's like Percy Jackson where the plot relies on individual scenes that don't necessarily flow together, but some books are meant to be like that because it suits the writing, tone, and message better.

Also, this is not a book you're supposed to take seriously, but that's not in a cringe way (but still has one or two valid criticisms on the habits of the rich these days). The writing is also very solid.

Am I the author? Yes. Am I biased? You bet. Do I still think this is one of the best books I've ever read? WITHOUT A DOUBT.

I started writing HH&HB when I was 10, and finished at 15. I've dreamed of being an author since I was 9, and loved books for as long as I could remember, so this really is a dream come true. Most people say not to publish your debut novel, but this book was the reason I fell in love with writing.

HH&HB is a hilarious, clean, witty, and completely unique tale with a high Lexile measure meant to equal parts enchant and entertain without the stupidity found in modern-day children's literature. I wrote it to be enjoyed by the entire family, so even if you're older, please pick it up! It's also unique in that it's episodic, yet still manages to hold one's attention with a fast-paced plot. As I like to say, "There's never a dull moment with the Prichardsons."

If you loved movies like Barbie, LEGO Friends, and The Princess Diaries, this story will be your new best friend! Many of my ARC readers favor heavier material, but absolutely loved the lighter nature and hilarity that ensues when three teenage terrors wind up on a farm.

So, if you're ready, apply some lip gloss, pull on your cowboy boots, and get ready to jump into a summer of sunshine and sisterhood unlike anything ever published!

April 25th update: Final proofreads are finished, and I'm sending this to beta readers in six days! As Skylar would say, "Yippee ki yay!"

May 4th update: Final final proofread is done, and I'm off to upload the files to my vendors! T-minus 4 weeks until release!!!
