This is not theoretical self-help. It is a raw, proven path to liberation, forged in the fires of Yareem's own journey, from a determined child in a world that told him he didn't belong, to a high-achieving entertainer driven by frantic hustle, to a man literally brought to his knees by the weight of outdated programming. His body finally crashed, sending an unequivocal change the code, or pay the price. What followed was not a quick fix from a guru, but a relentless quest for the truth, leading to the ultimate The power to change everything was inside him all along.

Upgrade is more than a book; it is an invitation to a legacy. Written first for his children, Yareem's work is a gift to anyone ready to end the cycle of inherited suffering. It combines gripping personal narrative with actionable exercises, neuroscience, and spiritual wisdom into a coherent, life-altering system.
Your external world is a mirror of your internal programming. To change the reflection, you must renovate the house.
While the message at the core is powerful, the language leans heavily into neuroscience and conceptual frameworks rather than plain, everyday phrasing. For some readers, that depth will feel validating and intellectually engaging. For others, it may require slowing down and rereading to fully absorb what is being presented. This is not a casual self-help read. It asks for attention and reflection.
At its heart, the work is about breaking generational and childhood patterns that quietly shape behavior, beliefs, and emotional responses. The author frames these cycles through the lens of brain states, conditioning, and inherited programming, blending scientific ideas with spiritual insight. Even when the terminology feels dense, the intention behind it remains clear. Awareness is positioned as the turning point where unconscious repetition can finally stop.
What strengthens the book is the personal narrative woven throughout. The author does not write from theory alone. His lived experience grounds the concepts and helps translate abstract ideas into something more relatable. Over time, the reader begins to see how ancestral patterns and early conditioning show up in modern choices, relationships, and self-perception.
This is a thoughtful and demanding read that rewards patience. It is best suited for readers who enjoy exploring inner work through psychological and neurological frameworks rather than simple affirmations. If you are willing to engage with the language and sit with the ideas, it offers meaningful insight into how deeply ingrained patterns form and how they can finally be rewritten.
I am still reading, but this book couldn’t have found me at a better time in my life! Upgrade is quite literally the “breadcrumb” you had no idea you were so desperately craving. This is validation that self work; although long and very trying at times, is essential for all of us. I have always considered myself the “black sheep” in my family but now I know I am just the first to be put here to break an ongoing ancestral cycle. So many valid points and lessons throughout this book, my favorite being to “change the conversation with yourself” because once you can rephrase one negative thought a day, you are already miles ahead of most! I wish I could hand this book out to people who need it, but like Yareem says in the book, it will call to those who need it (all by itself!).
I’m finding myself going back through chapters to further reflect on my own experiences, which makes the Upgrade Guided Companion Journal the perfect addition to this book!
This book is brilliant. It addresses real and necessary problems through stories, which is what makes it so powerful. Instead of being another self-help book that tells you do this or do that with endless empty words, it raises awareness by letting the lessons emerge naturally through storytelling. That approach feels much more honest and effective.
One of the ideas that really made me stop and think is the concept of the observing self. The book shows how we can become aware of that inner observer instead of acting impulsively. By stepping back and creating a bit of distance from our thoughts and emotions, we can face problems without immediately reacting—and often making things worse.
This perspective encourages reflection rather than impulse. It teaches that observing a situation calmly can be far more powerful than reacting emotionally. That insight alone made this book incredibly valuable to me, and it stayed with me long after I finished reading.
I read this book during a time when I knew something in my life had to change. The author’s story felt honest and grounded and made me look at my own patterns. I connected deeply with the idea that many of my limits were learned early and never questioned. The exercises helped me slow down and observe my thoughts instead of fighting them. I finished the book feeling clearer, lighter, and more in control of my direction.
The epigenetics part showed me things running in my family I never connected before. I'm working through the emotional scale techniques now – they're practical enough to use during actual stress, not just when you're calm. Yareem writes like someone who's been there, which makes the harder concepts easier to trust. Good read if you're tired of surface-level advice.
