She’s a Bratva princess, eleven years younger than me, and the worst brat I have ever met. She’s also my best friend’s sister, and totally off limits.
Now that I’m her bodyguard, her plan is to drive me crazy, and my plan is to ignore her completely. The thing is… I cannot control my obsession with her. This woman is mine, and now that I know her secrets, I plan to make her my wife.
She’s the future Mrs. Romanov.
Alexis Romanov is literally the bane of my existence. He’s arrogant, manipulative, and honestly… too handsome for my liking.
He thinks he can fix me, that he’s everything I need, but he’s wrong. I’m broken. My body is my worst enemy, and I need to protect my heart before he discovers my secrets.
Man I really wanted to love this book. It had so much potential with the storyline and the characters. But unfortunately, the typos, grammar errors and just wrong words in general really kept me from giving it more than 2.5 stars.
I'm not sure if it didn't go through editing or beta readers (I arc read it) but the errors were on every single chapter almost. Just for example it's a dual POV with Kate and Alexis. But many times through out the book when they were talking instead of "I" turned around and saw her. It was "he" or "she" turned around and saw her. Like someone else all the sudden started narrating. Lots of misspelled words. And a few just simple incorrect words like, "starting wheel" instead of "steering wheel". She got "into" all fours instead of "onto" all fours. Just to name a few. It just threw off the whole book for me. Like once you catch an error you can't stop finding them.
Now that being said, I did really like the characters and the chemistry was hot. This could be a great book if it had some serious editing done. Just my opinion.
MMC breaks or makes a book for me, and sadly, in this case, even though I loved Alexis, he wasn't enough to elevate the story.
I am all for chronic illness representation, but it wasn't really handled well in this book. The illness came across more as a plot device than an integral part of the character. Kate often came across as a brat rather than someone genuinely struggling with a chronic condition, and many of her actions and reactions didn't reflect the reality of what the story seemed to be trying to portray.
There were also too many inconsistencies. At one point, the narration seemed to shift from first person to third person (at least twice), and I had to reread the passage because I genuinely thought I had missed something. The POV transitions felt jarring and pulled me out of the story.
Moreover, I understand why someone might keep their illness or pregnancy private, but given the family dynamics presented, and the fact that Kate often seemed overwhelmed by the weight of it all, frequently blaming the universe for her bad luck, it was difficult for me to understand why she continued to shoulder everything alone. Perhaps she was trying to stay strong for her family, but the story never fully convinced me of that, especially with how thoughtful her brothers were!
The romance had potential, and Alexis was definitely the highlight for me. I understood his protective nature and enjoyed his devotion to Kate. She had a crush on him for a long time, while he kept his distance because she was his Pakhan/best friend’s sister. They eventually end up in a marriage of convenience, and their romance had its moments. But even a great MMC can't carry a story when the foundation feels shaky. The pacing, continuity issues, and character inconsistencies kept pulling me out of the experience.
This book had potential. With more editing, stronger continuity, and a more authentic portrayal of chronic illness, it could have been a much stronger story. But as it stands, it feels inconsistent and underdeveloped.
⭐⭐⭐ and honestly, those 3 stars are mostly because of Alexis.
I am absolutely obsessed with Tempted Obsession by Diana Barnes! This book had me hooked from the very first chapter and I couldn’t put it down. Possessive, protective, obsessed men are my weakness and Alexis Romanov completely delivered. This man was down bad and I loved every single second of it.
The chemistry between Alexis and Kate was insane. Their constant bickering and push and pull had me grinning like an idiot. She’s stubborn, he’s controlling, they’re both driving each other crazy, and I ate it all up. The bodyguard trope mixed with best friend’s little sister and forbidden romance? Perfection.
Alexis was such a delicious contradiction. Arrogant and manipulative, yet so fiercely protective and completely obsessed with Kate. Once this man decided she was his, there was no turning back. His possessiveness and devotion had me swooning so hard.
And Kate absolutely stole my heart. Beneath all her sass and attitude was a woman carrying so much pain and insecurity, and my heart hurt for her. Watching her slowly let someone love her, flaws and all, was beautiful and emotional. I loved that Alexis never saw her as broken. He saw her, all of her, and loved her fiercely.
The tension was incredible, the banter was so much fun, and the romance was addictive. There were moments that had me kicking my feet and moments that genuinely made me emotional. Diana Barnes gave me angst, obsession, passion, and so much heart wrapped up in one completely binge-worthy story.
I devoured this book in one sitting and immediately wanted more. Alexis Romanov has officially joined my list of book boyfriends because this possessive man had me in a chokehold. If you love obsessed heroes, protective bodyguards, forbidden romance, and all the delicious tension, you need this book in your life.
An easy five stars and I’m still not over these two! ❤️🔥
This book was pure Bratva chaos in the best way 😩📚
Alexis and Kate’s story is intense from the very beginning, with an instant push-and-pull dynamic that keeps you hooked the entire time. Their connection is messy, addictive, and full of tension that never really lets up 🖤🔥
Alexis is a possessive, arrogant, morally grey bodyguard who knows exactly what he wants — even when he shouldn’t want it. His obsession with Kate slowly turns from restraint into something completely consuming, especially as her secrets come to light 🚩🖤
Kate is strong in her own way, but also vulnerable and guarded, carrying emotional and physical insecurities that make her character feel layered and real. Her resistance to Alexis adds even more tension to their dynamic 😩
The forbidden elements — bodyguard trope, best friend’s sister, age gap, and Bratva world — all combine to create a high-stakes, emotionally charged romance that is hard to put down.
Their relationship is chaotic, obsessive, and full of control vs surrender energy. Every interaction feels loaded, like they are one step away from either breaking each other or completely giving in 🔥
Overall, this is a dark, addictive, and emotionally intense mafia romance with strong obsession, secrets, and undeniable chemistry.
I freaking loved it! I have been waiting for this book ever since I finished the first book in the Obsession Series.
I absolutely adore Kate, the Mafia Princess. She is an amazing FMC who carries so much on her shoulders because she never wants to be a burden to her family. Kate is independent, headstrong, tough, and absolutely vicious when she needs to be. She also had me laughing more than once with her backtalk and fiery attitude. She handles everything on her own until Alexis becomes her guard, and watching their relationship develop was one of my favorite parts of the story.
Alexis is hilarious in his own way—a keeps-to-himself, all-business kind of man. As Kieran's second-in-command, his loyalty to his Pakhan never wavers until it comes to Kate. He fights for what he wants and refuses to back down. Becoming Kate's bodyguard was the last thing he wanted, but was it really a mistake? I think NOT! Lol. I absolutely loved Alexis.
The spice was spicing, the story was well written, and I am already desperate for more. I love that book two remained connected to the first book and continued following characters we've already grown attached to. Everything came together perfectly, and now I'm impatiently waiting for the next book.
Alexis is second in command and head of security for the head of the family who is also his best friend. Kate is the sister to the head and a pain in his butt. She is hiding a secret, well alot of secrets from Alexis and her family. When Alexis becomes her bodyguard it gets harder and harder to hide them from him. Eventually everything must come out but will.it destroy their newly found relationship or tear them apart. Will it tear her apart.
This book has mental health represention as well as covers several other dark topics so please check the tiggers checklist. That begin said I did enjoy this read overall. Alexis is very protective of Kate and tries to help her in the ways she allows (though he does push to help more). Kate is handling way to much by herself.
Potential spoiler ahead! DON'T READ PAST THIS POINT!!!! The one thing I wanted for Kate and I think would have also.kade her growth more powerful is having a chapter where we read her thoughts as she comes to the realization on her own and shares her struggles with her family. We know it happens but we don't get the inner thoughts and conversation that occurs and I really wish we did.
I was totally torn apart reading this book, but by the end, I was delicately mended back together. I can’t use words to fully describe everything that I felt while reading this. I want to read it again as if it was my first time.
Kate is the Bratva princess, Alexis is her brother’s best friend but also her new bodyguard. He is totally obsessed with her and is determined to make her his wife. But Kate has to decide if she can truly let someone in and see all of her dark secrets or continue her current path and endure all the pain alone.
The duo between these two was just delicious! I loved how possessive and protective Alexis was about Kate, but I also loved how fierce and sassy she was towards him. She is carrying so much weight and so many burdens on her own, and the moment Alexis catches on, he doesn’t hesitate. He doesn’t overthink his actions, he dives right in and takes so much care for her. He will intervene however necessary so that she doesn’t have to face it alone.
The pacing of the story line was solid. There was a time or two that it shifted between first person to third and that was a little confusing. Regardless of that, I felt all the emotions and definitely laughed out loud about the banter between Kate and Alexis.
If you are looking for a book that has banter, obsessed heroes, forbidden romance, lots of tension, this should be your next book! There are some topics within the story such as chronic illness and depression, but make sure you read the trigger warnings.
You won’t regret starting and once you do, you won’t be able to put the book down! I am grateful to have received this ARC!
If you love your mafia romance with a dangerously possessive hero, forbidden tension, and enough chemistry to set your Kindle on fire, Tempted Obsession delivers.
Alexis Romanov is the ultimate morally gray obsession. He’s older, protective, controlling, and completely consumed by Kate—the younger sister of his best friend and the one woman he absolutely should not want. Watching his restraint crumble chapter by chapter was delicious.
Kate isn’t some helpless heroine either. She’s stubborn, wounded, and determined to keep her secrets buried. Her push-and-pull dynamic with Alexis had me hooked from the start. The banter, the tension, the constant battle for control? Perfection.
The bodyguard trope mixed with Bratva royalty, forbidden romance, age gap angst, and an obsessive hero who decides “she’s mine” and never looks back? Diana Barnes knew exactly what she was doing.
Alexis’s possessiveness had me kicking my feet and highlighting entire chapters. The man is obsessed, feral, protective, and completely gone for Kate. And honestly? I ate up every second of it
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tempted Obsession by Diana Barnes was everything I love in a mafia romance. From the very first page, I was hooked by Alexis and Kate's story.
Alexis is the perfect possessive and protective hero. His obsession with Kate was intense, but beneath it was a deep love and devotion that completely won me over. Kate was such an emotional character to connect with. My heart ached for her as she struggled with her insecurities and the secrets she carried.
The chemistry between these two was undeniable. The tension, banter, and emotional moments kept me turning pages late into the night. I loved watching their relationship grow as trust slowly replaced fear and doubt.
Diana Barnes delivered a story filled with passion, emotion, and unforgettable characters. If you love mafia romance, bodyguard tropes, age gaps, and fiercely protective heroes, Tempted Obsession is definitely worth reading.
All the mafia male she is “mine” possessiveness in one book 🔥.
Kate has an autoimmune disease and is worried about not being able to have kids so she goes under IVF. Had she talked to her crush Alexis I think they could have worked that out 😉. She is a mafia princess but very independent and runs her own bookstore. Deadly she feels like she can do it all on her own.
Alexis is placed as her bodyguard which annoys him as he considers her a brat. But you all know that won’t last long when he decides she is his and the baby is his baby.
Being there for her shows her she doesn’t have to do it on her own and they both get to show a softer side.
I think one of my favorite things about this book is the mafia men group chat. Seriously laughing at their conversations between them all as they complain really about nothing 😆

I went into this book expecting to absolutely love it, and I did love some parts of it, like the plot, but overall, I was disappointed with the execution and pacing of this book.
For everything Kate and Alexis were dealing with, her autoimmune disease, the pregnancy, and their relationship, I felt like the story needed more room to grow. The romance just happened really fast, and I just wanted to see more of the foundation of their relationship being built. I wanted more moments where they truly got to know each other.
I was very interested in learning about Kate’s autoimmune disease, but it felt surface-level. Towards the end of the book, some aspects and complications showed up, and it happened in one chapter and then in the next. It was resolved super quickly. It just felt underdeveloped.
My favorite part of this story was the mafia world, and the romance between Kate and Alexis was good. Even though I wanted more depth, their feelings for each other never felt fake. I feel like people who just want a quick and easy romance would enjoy this book more than I did.
Tempted obsession showed some improvement in the overall story compared to book 1 but it still didn’t fully work for me. The plot was a little more developed this time, yet the pacing remained very fast, which kept many moments from having the depth they needed. Kate and/or Alexis’ direct comments directed at the reader at times felt a bit aggressive, tiresome and unnecessary. They didn’t need to continually justify their thoughts and life choices.
I also struggled with the POV shifts. The frequent flickering between first person and third person pulled me out of the narrative and disrupted the flow. I’m not sure if it was an editing choice or an oversight. While the core plot itself was decent, these stylistic choices ultimately held the book back for me.
It's a story that recounts how the protagonist lives with a chronic illness, the good times and the bad. We also see a determined and committed protagonist who helps her through the most difficult moments when the illness affects her. He is always willing to help and support her. He goes through a long process to help her understand that he cares for her because he loves her, desires her, and has the need to make her feel good, to care for her and protect her. I loved it because, in addition to the author addressing the topic of chronic illness with great care, she manages to emphasize the protagonist's strength. I think that's what I loved most, because despite the complications, Kate never gave up; she was strong, tenacious, and fearless. ✨🥰
Thank you Naughty Nook PR for the ARC. In exchange for an honest review. 🖤
I dove in thinking that I was going to love this book but unfortunately it just fell kind of flat for me. There were parts that I loved, the plot had potential to make it an amazing book but the execution of it just felt extremely underdeveloped.
I love that Lupus was represented in a book with Kate but it felt surface level and rushed, add in her pregnancy and the quick transition from "enemy to lover" with Alexis. I would have liked to see more of a buildup into the relationship.
I will say though just because it wasn't a book that I absolutely loved doesn't mean that you won't. If you like fast paced mafia books then this would be the perfect pick for you.
Tempted Obsession is book two of the Obsession Series.
Kate is going through a lot throughout this story. She is dealing with a lot of personal things, but her family is invasive and wants to know everything. They assign Alexis to guard her for the time being and putting these two together, in close quarters, makes the intense chemistry between them ignite even more. There is a little borderline hatred there, but it's mostly from them fighting their feelings for each other. I loved how protective Alexis was, but he was also a little bit too controlling and needed to learn Kate needed a bit of space at times.
So obsessed with that bratva chaos! But that inside family love ! It runs so deep. The Bratva princess and her bodyguard aka her brothers best friend - it was chaotic, but beautiful. It was purposeful, with meaning. And trust me as a. Chronic autoimmune disease girlie- it hits close to home in so many dang ways.
This FMC IS A PRINCESS THROUGH AND THROUGH- she just forgot her crown, and her bodyguard - found it, placed it back on her head and reminded her of her place. All she needed was support. And her family saw that her bodyguard was doing just that loving her and supporting her. It was amazing
I truly enjoyed everything about to this book up until the end. I feel like the ending was a bit rushed, I had to recount the pages because the ending of the book was approaching but we still had a lot of issues to address lol.
Other than the pace of this book, everything was good, I loved the theme, the passion, the romance, the pain they both share, the “she’s mine”, the “my wife”, the protective vibes – everything.
Giving this a 4 ⭐️ only because I wished it was a bit longer and not so rushed.
Diana Barnes can write a story! 🔥 Tempted Obsession was so freaking good—I literally devoured this book in a single day!
Alexis, the mafia’s second-in-command, has been secretly carrying a torch for the Pakens’ sister for years, but neither of them has ever acted on it. The result? Some absolutely incredible tension that practically jumps off the pages! 😮💨🔥
Then there’s Kate—a strong, determined woman who’s dealing with some heavy struggles on her own. I loved her strength and resilience, and watching these two navigate everything together kept me completely hooked.
The plot was fantastic, the chemistry was undeniable, and the pacing had me turning pages nonstop. If you’re a mafia romance lover, this is definitely one you need to add to your TBR!
⭐ Plot: Perfect ⭐ Character Chemistry: Perfect ⭐ Addiction Level: Couldn’t Put It Down
Holy hot hell. Mafia romance✅ Best friends little sister ✅ Hidden pregnancy ✅ This book hits all of my favorite tropes in such a wonderful way! I read this book in 12 hours and am thirsty for more. I love how Kate pushes Alexis in every way and Alexis fights back! They drive each other crazy and push each other in the best ways. This book was amazing! It had the perfect balance of spice and storyline. The characters are sweet and spicy and fun to read. I had the pleasure to read this book as an arc read and this is my honest review!

This is the second book in the Obsession Series. And I enjoyed this one as much as the first book. This one has an FMC who suffers a chronic illness and deals with mental health issues. She lets nobody in until him....the assigned bodyguard. This is also a short story. A bit more emotional than the first book. I have read it in one sitting. And I loved it. Can't wait until the next book and read the story of Santi.
I can't even say the bones were there. I nearly DNF'd it quite a few times, but it was short enough that I powered through. The POV is switched between 1st and 3rd person too often; I'm talking same paragraph. Plus, Alexis went from 0 to 60 in .5 seconds. No warning whatsoever. I do like that Alexis was like "this is my baby now", no questions, no hesitation.
Short, hot, and completely off limits. Hidden secrets and lies will suck you in and have you wanting more from them. The love that he has for her is tested but does he ever come out without backing down from what he must do. Loved this!
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Good mafia romance, brothers best friend and now her bodyguard. Filled with some attitude and sass I found this to be an enjoyable read and the pages passed by quickly .. I will look for more from this author
Th anticipation i had for this was so high I tried so hard to get past chapter 7 this being said i did find the MMC was just not it alex was just an all out basic mafia male.
The book was well written, but something was just lacking for me. It was a quick read. I did enjoy it, and it was definitely not a DNF. I would have liked more of a back story for both Kate and Alexis. A big plus for me was that the illness was well represented. Without giving too much away. Tempted Obsession is a possessive (on both partners) simi enemies to lovers, found family, forbidden, dark mafia romance. The dark part is dealing with Bratva situation. You definitely need to check your trigger warnings if you have any.
