I think I kindof adore the love you to death novella's. CS definitely keeps you locked in and waiting for the ending. Love Potion No.1 showed this man that quite feminine rage exists and won't back down. A man who thinks he is owed something. Quickly realizing a slow death and a persistent red head will be his demise. Sometimes what you call, calls back to you.

An intense short story, though (and I could just be tired from studying) the beginning felt disconnected from the rest somehow.

I really liked Reece though and the inversion of a powerful male going for help from the police and getting the same run around a woman would. Great Commentary

And I appreciate it was intense but not gory.

First of all: thank you for trusting me with this ARC. Genuinely appreciated. Always an honor to be handed something dark and told, “Here. You’ll like this.” (Correct.)

This short story comes with trigger warnings. Which—full honesty—I tend to side-eye a little. That’s a me problem. But let’s be clear: if themes like manipulation, blurred consent, implied rape, or murder mess with your head in a way you don’t want to unpack at 2 a.m., maybe sit this one out. No shame. We’re not all wired the same, and thank god for that.

Me? I inhaled this story in less time than it takes me to physically leave my bed in the morning. Hooked. No warm-up. No easing in. Just straight into a psychological “what the hell did I just read and why do I love it?” spiral.

The vibes are off—in the best way. There’s a turn. A turn. And listen, I read a lot. My inner detective usually clocks twists early and ruins my own fun. This one? Nope. It got me. Fully. And the ending? Deeply, disturbingly satisfying. Make of that what you will 😉

So yes. Five stars. Unexpected. Twisted. Uncomfortable. Darkly satisfying. And when a 55-page read leaves me sitting there like “…wow”—it earns every single star.

Consider me impressed. And slightly concerned about how satisfied I felt.

Love Potion No. 1 by C.S. Jean features a pleasant writing style, but the story itself failed to pull me in. At only 55 pages, there wasn't enough time or depth given to the characters to make me care about them or their relationship, which made the stakes feel non-existent.
The book is labeled as suspense rather than a thriller, which might be why it did not quite work for me personally. It lacks the urgency or tension I typically enjoy, leaving the experience feeling a bit hollow. While it is a quick read, it just was not the right fit for my tastes.

This is the first time I’ve read a work from C.S. Jean. Love Potion No.1 is a part of the Love You To Death Series which will be released on January 30 in Amazon.

What I like about LOVE POTION No.1 is that it’s a battle between who’s really saying the truth. As a reader, you will also weigh the arguments of the characters. But in the end, you’ll love how it shows true Girl Power! Women supporting women. I love it.

Another amazing read by C. S. Jean. What happens to people who are so obsessed with their jobs and fear of commitment? They miss out on those who are really watching you, wanting you, and will do anything to make you realize that. Sometimes you dont need a potion and if you do be careful who you may use it on.
