Lucent Academy: Trinity Awakens: Reverse Harem Romantasy

Rate this book
At Lucent Academy, you don’t choose your mate. You summon them. Every Manaborn of the Invicto Empire is claimed at adulthood and shipped to the Academy—to master their power and call forth their fated mate from the Pacted Realms. A beastkin mate is common. A vampire, rare. A dragon? That’s the kind of legend nobles brag about for generations.

But highborn or lowborn, everyone knows the unbreakable rule of our You summon exactly one Bonded Mate.

Rules exist to be broken.

As the daughter of lowborn gardeners, I never dreamed I'd awaken Mana. I’d have been grateful for an imp. A kobold.
Anything that let me keep my head down and avoid the notice of the elite.

Then my Summoning happens.

An Abyss Dragon who offers me his hoard and his heart. A Blood Lord promising eternal devotion and immortal nights. A Fae Prince vowing to make me his Queen.

Three Bonded Mates. One terrified girl. And a prophecy come to life.

Suddenly I’m declared a Trinity—the first in recorded history. A living legend destined either to save this world…or make it burn.

Now the Empire watches. The Pacted Realms stir. Priests, kings, and monsters argue over whether I’m a miracle or a catastrophe.

All I know is I’m trapped between three equally irresistible, equally dangerous suitors who don’t understand the meaning of “share”—and who are ready to take extreme measures to get what they claim as theirs.

The problem is, I’ve never been good at choosing.

And if the prophecy is right?

I might not have to.

***
Lucent Trinity Awakens is a thrilling romantasy reverse harem (why choose?) with three enigmatic leads and one seemingly ordinary girl... who may hide more bite than everyone thinks.

Cool concepts, decently written, poorly executed. This is not a romance, and this is not a novel. At less than 100 pages, it’s a prequel novella. It’s a decent setup (think Hogwarts X Fourth Wing with mates), so the world building and magic ARE engaging. Speaking into the void to summon a mate is cool but it’s not thoroughly explained (and the FMC’s summons was absolutely cringeworthy- I got terrible secondhand embarrassment).

Also of note- apparently every high ranking mate of hers only wants a trad wife 💀 chick literally says ‘all I want is to cook and clean for you and have your children’.

You get about as much info from the story as you do from the present blurb. Maybe if there were more to it, it could live up to some of its premise.

I believe this is the start of a series maybe— it definitely is just an open ending concept
There is no explanation though, and there’s nothing on her page that states she will have another book

This was OK. I definitely like the idea of it, but it felt flat.

So much fun

For once I read a book and wished it was LONGER! Absolutely loved this story and pacing. Full on light fantasy rom-com full of heart that really hit the spot on - it was super fun, super fast read. I NEED the full series and usually I’m a girl who only reads standalones. Instead this left me only wanting to read more and more with a side of more please. One of my favorite things about this story is that it serves up justice pretty immediately but in a very satisfying way. Really hope there’s a book 2 coming.

Are we joking? No one should have allowed this book to be published like this. The author should have actually written a full first book in a series. This was basically the equivalent of a 5 chapter prequel in an actual book. This isn’t even long enough to be considered a novella. Someone should have said to wait until there was enough to actually complete a full first book before releasing it.

That being said, what WAS written was good, I felt the writing style was pretty good and it did keep my attention (other than the pov change to the principal with no transition), also the FMC’s speech could have still been clumsy but less embarrassing. She could have talked about her good heart and humble background just looking for a family and companionship instead of that absolute mess of second hand embarrassment. I think this had the potential to be 5 stars but you can’t write less than a hundred pages and call it the first book in a series.

*sigh*

I thought my kindle was acting up when I saw the page count because it so low. The book could have been amazing. But this was just a let down because it left off at such a weird place with not even the MC and gave us nothing that would say “follow up”. No development of characters that makes me want to delve deeper after this since there was nothing that bonded me to anything in the book. I hate ranking someone's work low but I can't recommend this to anyone.

This book was pretty disappointing. It was really short and even though it says "reverse harem", there is almost no interaction with the FMC and the MMCs until the very end and even that is minimal. The book is 96 pages and it ends on a cliffhanger with no sequel even mentioned. Zero romance in the entire book.

Excellent start

Very interesting premise, storyline is engaging and different. Really hope that the author is planning to expand this to a full book or series

fun opening to a book

This was cute and fun but it wasn’t a full story. It’s like the opening chapters to a book. You learn almost nothing about the 3 men who she only briefly meets and then they’re gone. Not a ton of world building but it is a fun quick read. Just wish there was more to it.

Best 10 minute read of my life!

This book definitely left a lot to be desired. A great intro to an exciting series. And even though I know exactly how much time goes into brainstorming and writing, (I absolutely HATED English class in school) as a reader, the next book in a series can never come fast enough. I wish I had known it was the first of an incomplete series. I've had to start checking for that after having to wait 7+ years for some authors to maybe or more often than not conclude the storyline. Here's to hoping!!

Book is unfinished

This book is very short and ends just when it is getting started. There is no mention of future books in the series. It says reverse harem, but there is no harem yet as the book ends too early. I would advise not reading it until other books in the series come out.

Ummmmmmm wtf?
So this wasn’t a book or a novella. I’m so confused about what this was and a little disappointed to be honest. It was only 100 pages and it literally just stops right when the story actually begins. I’m so confused at why the author did this. Again, WTF?
And it sucks cause I was really fucking enjoying it too. I was really into it. The story was really fresh and new, the writing was good. The FMC was extremely likable. It had potential and that’s saying a lot nowadays. So why did it just end after 100 pages?

Short.

**SPOILERS**

Leah Woods is a gardeners daughter. She lives a simple life, and that’s all she dreams of, a simple life with lots of kids.

On her 18th birthday the unthinkable happens. She “awakens” sprouting a giant tree and magic apples. She is Manaborn, beings that have magic and must attend Lucent academy for three years to learn control. At the academy the manaborn enter a ring and summon “beings” from other realms that will serve as their lifelong partners. There is a “rule” one lifelong partner for each manaborn. But there is a prophecy…about the trinity, a manaborn that will summon and bond three of the most high classed otherworldly beings. Cleopatra, the daughter of the empress says she will be the trinity. And when she steps into the ring she summons the highest level being…an archangel. He is powerful, but she is disappointed. Leah’s friend also gets a diamond ranked partner, a fire phoenix. Then it’s Leah’s turn. She says she wants someone steady, who will wants lots of kids. LOL. Then the unthinkable happens again…she summons three diamond ranked beings, a dragon, a vampire lord, and a high fae prince. She is the trinity.

Everyone is stunned. Leah is shocked. She handles it, and her quarantine partners well, though. She, along with the other high ranked summoners are brought to the principal and told they will train together.

Leah says she never asked for this…but she’ll work and train to be deserving of it.

**THOUGHTS/OPINIONS**

I liked this book. I enjoyed Leah’s character. She’s steady, genuine and deceptively strong. I love that this unassuming girl would be the one to bring forth three such formidable beings. I was however disappointed in how short this book was. First, there was NO indication that this was just the first in a series, so you go into the book thinking it’s a standalone! Secondly, even if it is the first in a series…it’s ridiculously short. Too short. Yes, a lot is explained in a short period of time. But you hardly get anytime to understand the academy, or the three bonded partners Leah called forth. If this book is indeed the first in a series, and an indication of what is to come there will need to be like 20+ books to get through it all!!!! I mean, there is a great war occurring, and these kids are being trained to go to the frontlines. Plus Leah has THREE bonded partners who argue incessantly!!!! There is a lot to unpack!!!! I enjoyed this book but was very disappointed in the length of it. It’s like even shorter than some novellas, how sad.

I can't wait to come back and change my review if I ever hear about anything further with this story.

First, I absolutely loved the writing style. It was phenomenal, which is becoming increasingly impossible in today's market of rapid release novels. This is truly the first novel in a very, very long time that I've read from a first person POV that actually sounded like a story and not a 14-year-olds diary. I loved the characters. Every single one of them. They were each their own, and I had no issues whatsoever with any of the characterizations yanking me out of the story, which is also a common thing in a lot of novels. I loved the world building. It was detailed and well thought out and it was woven into the prose masterfully.

I was completely engaged the entire time I read it. The whole hour. Which is why I'm rating this two stars now, because it wasn't long enough, especially for it to be categorized as a reverse harem novel. There was no romance whatsoever because the bonding didn't happen until the very end of the book. The character didn't even have a full conversation with her mates for a full page before they disappeared. I was extremely disappointed at how unfinished the novel felt when I got to the end. It would be better if there was a link to the author in any way. But there isn't. You can't click on the authors name on Amazon. There is no author website. There aren't any socials that I could find that mention this novel at all. There is no greeting at the beginning of the book, or thanks or acknowledgements of any kind. There's nothing where the author introduces themselves or directions on where to go to find more information. Nothing whatsoever that gives us any idea of whether this is a prequal of sorts, or the beginning of a series. There's nothing. And that's why I've rated it two stars for now.

It's so hard to find such deeply immersive storytelling these days. I search for days and weeks, and sometimes months before I find one that I truly love, and this could have been one of them. And I'm just disappointed that it was cut this short without any indications or clues as to whether it would be continued or not, or that it would be continued so as to follow the RH conventions to actually be you know, a RH. If that changes I'll gladly come back and change my review.

Hooked Instantly, Still Waiting for the Heat

This feels like the start of what could be a really captivating series. It’s not complete yet, but it’s very well written and ends on a strong note that leaves you wanting more.

Leah Wood begins as a relatable, grounded character. She’s a commoner’s daughter, raised in a simple life, dreaming of love, marriage, and a big family. That all shifts on her eighteenth birthday when she discovers she’s Manaborn, suddenly pulled into a world of magic, destiny, and war.

At the academy, Manaborn are trained to unlock their abilities and take part in sacred rites that call their destined mates. These bonds aren’t just romantic, they’re essential in the fight against the Void. Leah learns that honesty is key during these rites, and in a rare twist, she calls not one, but three mates, bringing the long-whispered Trinity prophecy to life.

The world-building is engaging, and the concept behind the Trinity and mate bonds is especially intriguing. The writing flows well, and the pacing keeps you invested without feeling rushed.

That said, I do wish there had been more romance. The foundation is absolutely there, and the tension is building, but the story ends just as it feels like things are about to truly develop between Leah and her mates. If you’re going in hoping for spice or a deeper romantic payoff, you may find yourself a little disappointed for now.

Still, this feels very much like a setup book, and if the next installment delivers on the romance and heat that’s being teased, this could easily become a favorite series.

Too good to be so short

I am honestly shocked this book is a novella series. Normally, all the emotions are so fast paced for how quickly the story races on in exploration, that the feelings are lost in translation. This novella, had natural fleelings pertaining to anxiety after receiving mana on her birthday, to worry over leaving her family behind to train at the academy for 3 years before heading to the front lines of this war for 9 years, and never seeing her family again, to hope, when she starts academy life off with summoning 3 incredibly powerful beings. A gardener’s daughter, naively innocent in wanting to live a simple life, and good sized breeding hips to have lots of kids. It was refreshing to read a character like this. The majority of the ones in her summoning circle wanted refined but powerful mates. She is the Trinity. The one to end the war. She took the gift of being one away from the Princess, who summoned an Archangel. The tension between them was tentative, with the Princess sizing her up and finding her somewhat lacking. The feelings of the fmc Leah Woods ranged from everything, but they flowed smoothly without rushing. What we would read in a full sized book. Not a novella. So, with me wanting to read more immediately because I was sucked in by her simple life fantasy, and the potential she has with these 3 mates, I’d highly rate it 5 stars. This is such a good story! Too short though.

Wow! what a great debut novel

This book has a formulaic theme written in a way that is very different from all the other multiple mates and simple background but powerful girl.

I love that the FMC is really happy with being a simple gardener and doesn’t want anything to do with fame or power.

I really enjoyed how the story moved along well. With laughter and connection and shared stories among the students.

There were some things I didn’t enjoy. And why I did four stars instead of 5. I did not like the similarity to Harry Potter. Calling the students first years. And entering a cavern with floating crystals made me blink and double check it wasn’t floating candles.

I did not like the level of humiliation of the barons daughter. I don’t think it was necessary.

I did not care for how over the top the three men were with each other. I thought that was a bit overdone and shallow. I would prefer some depth, especially for leaders.

I am definitely looking forward to reading book two and her training and growth. I sense more laughter in the future!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lucent Academy: Trinity Awakens by Alex Bright was a brilliant, quick read that perfectly sets the stage for something really exciting. This fast-paced novella never felt rushed; everything flowed smoothly, and the story connected together nicely despite the shorter length.

The worldbuilding and academy setup pulled me in right away, and I loved how much intrigue was packed into such a short book. It definitely feels like the calm before the storm, in the best way. You can tell this is just the beginning of a much bigger story.

I’m especially excited to learn more about the MMCs and watch the FMC really come into her own - she already has main character energy and I’m obsessed. Overall, a fun, engaging start to the series that left me wanting more immediately. Can’t wait to see what comes next!

Wow... blink and this is all over.

When this popped up on my recommendation page, I was intrigued and couldn't wait to read it. This is usually what I'm looking for in a dark academy style read. Unfortunately, I hadn't paid attention to the page count, so when the big reveal was about to happen I realised that something was off as there were so few pages left. For the novella it is, it's great. Fast paced, introduces some interesting characters with future rivalries set up, and the premise... *chef's kiss*.... and yet, when I was expecting something more in-depth and longer it does take a little of the shine off my rating. Totally a me problem (like I said, I didn't not the page count), but it did effect my feelings on reaching the end. Great if you know you're about to read a novella, so highly recommend it.

Lucent Academy

This book was listed on my kindle home page, and since I’m obsessed with why choose stories, I gave it a try. I am glad I did. It’s very well written, did not flood you with so much information up front. It told a story about a girl that was turning eighteen and what unexpectedly happened that changed her life forever going forward. My big complaint here is I was so invested in the story that I forgot that this was a very short novella. I don’t regret reading the story but I do hope that this was an introduction of another book or series to come. I was totally into this book and I hope more readers will pick this up because you won’t regret it, I definitely recommend giving this new author a try.

Ms Alex Bright, please come to the front of the class. This absolutely needs to be a long series. I need at least five books, minimum.

I devoured this book and had no idea what to do with myself when it ended. It felt like torture that it was so short.

The entire setup was perfection. The world building was fantastic, and I loved the way the author explained how the Manaborn come into existence and how their mates are summoned. It was fascinating and unique.

Leah’s speech during the summoning had me laughing out loud, and the moment her three mates appeared was pure perfection. That whole scene had me completely captivated.

I cannot wait for more. I am honestly so bummed it ended so quickly.

I found this to be a cute, short read. It had great world-building but I do feel it started to fall apart towards the end.

Having the FMC want nothing more than a quiet life and a family seems like a strange choice given the summoning method is based on character and intention. I will reserve judgement until future books but it just feels a little strange that someone with no ambition would summon three super powerful creatures. I guess all three really want a housewife and a dozen kids…

It would have made more sense to me if there was a focus on her wanting to protect her family or something along those lines.

Anyway, I did mostly enjoy it and I will likely continue with the series.

This could be my new favorite series

Ok so this book is realllllllyyyy short. But I love the writing. There’s your typical rich girl/poor girl kind of tropes but done in a way that is so refreshing and not cliche. I really enjoyed this authors work. The book felt honest and real. I wish there was more info available on when/if there will be more published. I need the next installment asap!!!! If you’re looking for a quick read that will get your imagination going and not be the same rinse/wash/repeat then you should definitely read this author

Help! FMC is so freaking funny lolll
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a story use familiar tropes so smoothly and naturally, it far exceeded my expectations. I especially like the FMC’s calm, almost old-soul personality—she handles hostility or bullying with remarkable poise and maturity. It’s refreshing to finally have a FMC who isn’t annoyingly childish.
I hope the author releases sequels soon!!

great read!

This was an excellent read. I thoroughly enjoyed this authors world building. The descriptions make the world come alive through beautiful, vivid language. The FMC is such a normal girl who finds herself in extraordinary circumstance. It is a deep and abiding empathy, care and concern that is the foundation of her very being. We are only briefly introduced to her harem, but that small amount has me salivating for the next book!

This book is really well and beautifully written. when I saw that it was an academy book. I rolled my eyes and I thought please save me from another prophecy/academy book, but this is going to be cool. I wish the other books were already written. I immediately liked the FMC humble and kind. The world description was lush. I loooooved that it wasn’t 600 pages.
This has potential so we shall see! She has an unfinished series so here’s hoping there will be other books in this series.

Something different

What I liked about the book was that there Was a fmc and that it was a reserved harrem. But I found it slow to start out with and I felt like the book was quickly shoved together between The middle and ending. The story line needed more in my opinion. I disliked that it became predictable and knew that the main character would have something good happen to them but like I said I found crammed together.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

New Author, great imagination and writing style. I loved this book. Funny moment, FMC opens mouth, inserts foot. Rich snooty female character, gets what she deserves. That was funny. Dislikes: Book was to short. Only 95 pages. Very disappointed. Bright side, written with cliffhanger. So, hopefully more books will follow. Could be a series. Overall, an awesome book.

Holy cow!

I woke up wide awake at 3:45 am and thought, well I”ll just read for a bit a book I had just started at dinner. It is now 5:45 am and I’ve finished the book. And yeah, holy cow. I was sucked in from the get-go. The story, the characters, the way in which the book is written- it is all just wonderful. Sadly but probably for the better, it appears the next book is not out yet. I will be waiting - impatiently.
