At Lucent Academy, you don’t choose your mate. You summon them. Every Manaborn of the Invicto Empire is claimed at adulthood and shipped to the Academy—to master their power and call forth their fated mate from the Pacted Realms. A beastkin mate is common. A vampire, rare. A dragon? That’s the kind of legend nobles brag about for generations.
But highborn or lowborn, everyone knows the unbreakable rule of our You summon exactly one Bonded Mate.
Rules exist to be broken.
As the daughter of lowborn gardeners, I never dreamed I'd awaken Mana. I’d have been grateful for an imp. A kobold. Anything that let me keep my head down and avoid the notice of the elite.
Then my Summoning happens.
An Abyss Dragon who offers me his hoard and his heart. A Blood Lord promising eternal devotion and immortal nights. A Fae Prince vowing to make me his Queen.
Three Bonded Mates. One terrified girl. And a prophecy come to life.
Suddenly I’m declared a Trinity—the first in recorded history. A living legend destined either to save this world…or make it burn.
Now the Empire watches. The Pacted Realms stir. Priests, kings, and monsters argue over whether I’m a miracle or a catastrophe.
All I know is I’m trapped between three equally irresistible, equally dangerous suitors who don’t understand the meaning of “share”—and who are ready to take extreme measures to get what they claim as theirs.
The problem is, I’ve never been good at choosing.
And if the prophecy is right?
I might not have to.
*** Lucent Trinity Awakens is a thrilling romantasy reverse harem (why choose?) with three enigmatic leads and one seemingly ordinary girl... who may hide more bite than everyone thinks. Preorder now before the price changes. :)
Alex Bright is a newly published, young adult author, who has just released her debut novel: The Rising of Empathos on Amazon Kindle. Alex has wanted to create great fiction for as long as she can remember, and at the tender age of eleven, she wrote her first murder mystery story. Many more tales, poems, short stories, fanfics and even a thesis were to follow, until Alex finally realised her lifetime ambition of writing a novel and creating a magical world where anything was possible. So Esperanza was born, a futuristic, mythical country, and along with it the vision for the Chronicles of Esperanza series. Alex hails from sunny Australia where she lives with her family.
I believe this is the start of a series maybe— it definitely is just an open ending concept There is no explanation though, and there’s nothing on her page that states she will have another book
This was OK. I definitely like the idea of it, but it felt flat.
Cool concepts, decently written, poorly executed. This is not a romance, and this is not a novel. At less than 100 pages, it’s a prequel novella. It’s a decent setup (think Hogwarts X Fourth Wing with mates), so the world building and magic ARE engaging. Speaking into the void to summon a mate is cool but it’s not thoroughly explained (and the FMC’s summons was absolutely cringeworthy- I got terrible secondhand embarrassment).
Also of note- apparently every high ranking mate of hers only wants a trad wife 💀 chick literally says ‘all I want is to cook and clean for you and have your children’.
You get about as much info from the story as you do from the present blurb. Maybe if there were more to it, it could live up to some of its premise.
For once I read a book and wished it was LONGER! Absolutely loved this story and pacing. Full on light fantasy rom-com full of heart that really hit the spot on - it was super fun, super fast read. I NEED the full series and usually I’m a girl who only reads standalones. Instead this left me only wanting to read more and more with a side of more please. One of my favorite things about this story is that it serves up justice pretty immediately but in a very satisfying way. Really hope there’s a book 2 coming.
Are we joking? No one should have allowed this book to be published like this. The author should have actually written a full first book in a series. This was basically the equivalent of a 5 chapter prequel in an actual book. This isn’t even long enough to be considered a novella. Someone should have said to wait until there was enough to actually complete a full first book before releasing it.
That being said, what WAS written was good, I felt the writing style was pretty good and it did keep my attention (other than the pov change to the principal with no transition), also the FMC’s speech could have still been clumsy but less embarrassing. She could have talked about her good heart and humble background just looking for a family and companionship instead of that absolute mess of second hand embarrassment. I think this had the potential to be 5 stars but you can’t write less than a hundred pages and call it the first book in a series.
I can't wait to come back and change my review if I ever hear about anything further with this story.
First, I absolutely loved the writing style. It was phenomenal, which is becoming increasingly impossible in today's market of rapid release novels. This is truly the first novel in a very, very long time that I've read from a first person POV that actually sounded like a story and not a 14-year-olds diary. I loved the characters. Every single one of them. They were each their own, and I had no issues whatsoever with any of the characterizations yanking me out of the story, which is also a common thing in a lot of novels. I loved the world building. It was detailed and well thought out and it was woven into the prose masterfully.
I was completely engaged the entire time I read it. The whole hour. Which is why I'm rating this two stars now, because it wasn't long enough, especially for it to be categorized as a reverse harem novel. There was no romance whatsoever because the bonding didn't happen until the very end of the book. The character didn't even have a full conversation with her mates for a full page before they disappeared. I was extremely disappointed at how unfinished the novel felt when I got to the end. It would be better if there was a link to the author in any way. But there isn't. You can't click on the authors name on Amazon. There is no author website. There aren't any socials that I could find that mention this novel at all. There is no greeting at the beginning of the book, or thanks or acknowledgements of any kind. There's nothing where the author introduces themselves or directions on where to go to find more information. Nothing whatsoever that gives us any idea of whether this is a prequal of sorts, or the beginning of a series. There's nothing. And that's why I've rated it two stars for now.
It's so hard to find such deeply immersive storytelling these days. I search for days and weeks, and sometimes months before I find one that I truly love, and this could have been one of them. And I'm just disappointed that it was cut this short without any indications or clues as to whether it would be continued or not, or that it would be continued so as to follow the RH conventions to actually be you know, a RH. If that changes I'll gladly come back and change my review.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lucent Academy: Trinity Awakens by Alex Bright was a brilliant, quick read that perfectly sets the stage for something really exciting. This fast-paced novella never felt rushed; everything flowed smoothly, and the story connected together nicely despite the shorter length.
The worldbuilding and academy setup pulled me in right away, and I loved how much intrigue was packed into such a short book. It definitely feels like the calm before the storm, in the best way. You can tell this is just the beginning of a much bigger story.
I’m especially excited to learn more about the MMCs and watch the FMC really come into her own - she already has main character energy and I’m obsessed. Overall, a fun, engaging start to the series that left me wanting more immediately. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
This book was listed on my kindle home page, and since I’m obsessed with why choose stories, I gave it a try. I am glad I did. It’s very well written, did not flood you with so much information up front. It told a story about a girl that was turning eighteen and what unexpectedly happened that changed her life forever going forward. My big complaint here is I was so invested in the story that I forgot that this was a very short novella. I don’t regret reading the story but I do hope that this was an introduction of another book or series to come. I was totally into this book and I hope more readers will pick this up because you won’t regret it, I definitely recommend giving this new author a try.
Ummmmmmm wtf? So this wasn’t a book or a novella. I’m so confused about what this was and a little disappointed to be honest. It was only 100 pages and it literally just stops right when the story actually begins. I’m so confused at why the author did this. Again, WTF? And it sucks cause I was really fucking enjoying it too. I was really into it. The story was really fresh and new, the writing was good. The FMC was extremely likable. It had potential and that’s saying a lot nowadays. So why did it just end after 100 pages?
This book definitely left a lot to be desired. A great intro to an exciting series. And even though I know exactly how much time goes into brainstorming and writing, (I absolutely HATED English class in school) as a reader, the next book in a series can never come fast enough. I wish I had known it was the first of an incomplete series. I've had to start checking for that after having to wait 7+ years for some authors to maybe or more often than not conclude the storyline. Here's to hoping!!
Help! FMC is so freaking funny lolll It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a story use familiar tropes so smoothly and naturally, it far exceeded my expectations. I especially like the FMC’s calm, almost old-soul personality—she handles hostility or bullying with remarkable poise and maturity. It’s refreshing to finally have a FMC who isn’t annoyingly childish. I hope the author releases sequels soon!!
This was an excellent read. I thoroughly enjoyed this authors world building. The descriptions make the world come alive through beautiful, vivid language. The FMC is such a normal girl who finds herself in extraordinary circumstance. It is a deep and abiding empathy, care and concern that is the foundation of her very being. We are only briefly introduced to her harem, but that small amount has me salivating for the next book!
This book is really well and beautifully written. when I saw that it was an academy book. I rolled my eyes and I thought please save me from another prophecy/academy book, but this is going to be cool. I wish the other books were already written. I immediately liked the FMC humble and kind. The world description was lush. I loooooved that it wasn’t 600 pages. This has potential so we shall see! She has an unfinished series so here’s hoping there will be other books in this series.
I thought my kindle was acting up when I saw the page count because it off so strong and it could have been amazing. But this was just a let down because it left off at such a weird place with not even the MC and gave us nothing. No development that makes me want to delve deeper after this since there was nothing that bonded me to this book. I hate ranking someone's work low but I can't recommend this to anyone.
This story started amazing. I enjoyed the pace, it has so much potential to be more. Then it just ends. Full stop. What happens with the war? Her family? A fade to the blackest black…. Can we please have more? There is so much that needs to be tied up. Im giving it a 4 because I’m PRAYING there will be another more detailed book.
I am hoping this will be a series. I need to know how the relationship between Leah and Cleopatra the fea princess evolve. Also how does the Seraphine and her imp progress. OMG. Talk about a let down. I am definitely ready to hear about how all these ladies in principal Lucius class progress.
This was such an awesome introduction and build up into this world! I am sitting in anticipation waiting for the installments that are going to come from this! It seems as though it will be spicy and wholesome and dramatic with lots of action all in one. I'm so ready!
4.5 An engaging story. Leah was a likable character. The world building was complete and made sense. Sadly, this is the first in a series. At the time GoodReads gave no indication of this. I'm not sad I read it, but I usually wait for the completed series before starting. Hopefully I'll remember (or maybe the author will refresh our memory in the next book).
While it was entirely to short of a read for the world building and climactic building of the characters it was a promising start. I wish it were longer and we got to know her mates a little better. I see no note about another book so I hope I just didn't waste an hour reading this.
Consider this a long introduction into the series!? Other than getting to know”meet” her mates/bonds …. For 10 minutes…..nothing really happens. Not sure when/if the next book will be out. I would say if all the other books are like this one….they are SUPER slow burn…. So I guess will wait and see …whenever the next book is out that is…
This book was pretty disappointing. It was really short and even though it says "reverse harem", there is almost no interaction with the FMC and the MMCs until the very end and even that is minimal. The book is 96 pages and it ends on a cliffhanger with no sequel even mentioned. Zero romance in the entire book.
I started reading this four hours ago and could not put it down. The heroine is lovely warm hearted girl that has been given a lot of responsibility outside of her comfort zone. The setting for the academy is strong, friends made easily and strong opposition set up immediately. This keeps me reading!
This is a good start to a story not a true story. It is only 8 chapters. It allows for the set up for three mates and a mystery prophecy and then ends abruptly. It is not worth purchasing at this point. That said you could make a drinking game out of the number of times the phrase " gardeners daughter" is used in just these 8 chapters.
This is the first book, I am guessing in a long series. It won't be worth it to wait for series. I can already tell it will be a long dragged out story with a letdown finished.
Really good, but really short. Even though this story was shorter than what I usually read, I did not feel slighted in the least because it was so very descriptive and pulled me immediately into the story. I would love to read more!!
Untapped potential. Everything from beginning were written in a normal style, but when it came to the most important moment, it became childish, the dialogues and the behavior. I don't know if I'll ever return to this story.
This book introduces a new world, the descriptions are great and draw you in. I had hoped for more of the training to begin, but Leah is a sympathetic character who wants simple things. I look forward to the continuation of the story.
The writing itself is ok but simplistic. Everything was very predictable.
I have to say, the all powerful FMC announcing to the world that she wants to cook, clean, and have 12 babies.. and nothing else.. that was unique. I’ll give it that much. It also made me lose interest though.
The idea is solid with strong characters and a good plot, but the book literally just ends, without any resolution. Its 96 pages of a plot outline no one bothered to go back and actually finish. Extremely disappointing.
This is a great start to what I really hope is going to be a very enjoyable series ! I haven’t looked for the next book yet but , I will be on the lookout with baited breathe !
Interesting novella to start a series. I’ll admit I picked this up expecting a full length novel, but I am intrigued enough to be hooked to try the first full length book in this series.
