It’s just bad writing.

Totally Power Played is one of those romances that sneaks up on you with its charm, then refuses to let go. Lily Doral blends humor, heat, and genuine emotional growth in a way that feels effortless, and the result is a story that’s as fun as it is satisfying.
What makes this book shine is the dynamic between the leads—there’s an immediate spark, but it’s the banter and the earned vulnerability that make their connection feel real. Doral doesn’t rely on contrived drama; instead, she lets the characters’ flaws, fears, and desires drive the tension. Watching them navigate attraction, boundaries, and the messy parts of wanting more is deeply rewarding.
The pacing is tight, the dialogue snaps, and the chemistry is undeniable. But what really elevates the story is how grounded it feels. Even in the steamy or chaotic moments, there’s an emotional throughline about trust, self-worth, and choosing the kind of relationship that actually supports who you want to become.

Annabelle is returning home after her catching her fiancé cheating on her. Home is Nashville, and more specifically, the Nashville Outlaws hockey team, as the owner, her father, has made her the lead of Executive Operations. And what is her first assignment?

Bryce isn’t actually trying to get noticed by the press, but they’re everywhere. Some of the things they report are accurate, but most of them are just unfortunate timing. In any case, he’s annoyed that he’s going to be saddled with Annabelle, until he meets her. Well, to be fair, he’s still annoyed, but he can’t wait to annoy her.
I am a sucker for hockey romances, and this one is now one of my favorites. From the antics of the team to Bryce and Annabelle’s steamy, growing passion, I was invested from the start. There’s definitely hockey action on the page, and still plenty of romance as well.
I adore the supporting cast of the Outlaws, especially with how, when it’s needed the most, they rally around Bryce and publicly show their support. They may chirp each other, but when it comes down to it, they’re family. A relentless, busybody, over-the-top family.
This is a great start of a new series, for which I am excited, as I loved the Detroit Acers series by this author, and I’m ready for the adventures of the Outlaws men, and the women who will fall for them.

She went to the arena where her dad owns the business, where she used to work .
Her dad gave her a new assignment to supervise a player Bryce an absolute trouble .
When she went to get to him he was at practice in the ice, she told him I’m your new problem.
But she couldn’t not watch his muscular body, how can she stop him out of trouble when she found herself in trouble.
Bryce couldn’t believe that his boss sent his daughter to babysitting him, and usually women blush when they see him shirtless but she didn’t flinch .
She called him to her office and she tells him that he has to clean his image no more late night drama and no more chaotic lives.
And now you will include me in all public outings , he swore to not make her job easy.
That night he had to go to a charity event with her when she stepped out of her car his brain for seconds forgot how to function.

Cute, Fast Paced, Insta Love
Annabelle Hacker, having just broke up with her ex fiancé after she found him cheating, takes a position with her father’s hockey team. She is an emotional wreck that tends to talk to herself and attracts chaos. Her first task is to try and contain the teams player with worst PR issues, Bryce Blackthorne.
Annabelle and Bryce are instantly attracted to each other. They fall hard and fast despite the unfavorable circumstances.
Felt that Annabelle was very erratic and indecisive with her emotions. We begin with her having meltdowns over her ex but immediately falls for Bryce. And when they get together, she automatically dismisses him and says it can’t happen again. Honestly, Bryce seemed more emotionally stable and like able.
Overall, the rest of the team and their antics save the story and was an entertaining read, and will read the next.

This story was on fire. It’s a fast-paced read that hooks you for the start. The chemistry and banter are phenomenal. I read this in one sitting, just couldn’t put it down. It was steamy and the characters truly felt like end game. And the support given by the entire team shows that they were going to go the distance. The shenanigans that Bryce gets in to, and that Annabelle has to deal with, are entertaining moments that make him all the more real. And gives the book some hilarious moments. There’s true vulnerability in the main characters and they grow because of each other, not in spite of. It’s a perspective readers don’t often get, especially in hockey romances. Also I fully support the team in beating Mark for his slimy and disgusting ways. I’m going to need more books about all the teammates who came in clutch when needed like ASAP. I can’t not know what’s happening with my men.

I am a sucker for spicy hockey books and this one will most definitely sit on top of the stack. There were so many epic lines, a lot in shouty caps lol, that I was left with sore cheeks and my stomach hurt from laughing so much, that I couldn't decide which ones to share. I gave up and will let you pick yours.

Totally Power Played is a great read. Is the market full of hockey romances right now? Yes. Did it fall into a lot of the tropes I've seen before. Yes. But boy does Lily Doral make you eat up. The romance is steamy and swoon-worthy and the lovebirds will have you smiling and giggling at their first interaction, right alongside the rest of the Outlaws. I'm a sucker for romance, but I'm especially a sucker for found-family with romance. Cannot wait to read along for the rest of the boys and the chaos that follows!

when the team’s biggest pr disaster meets the owner’s daughter, the rules are bound to get broken. annabelle is assigned to keep a close eye on bryce, but she didn’t expect to find herself falling for the man behind the reputation. ⛸️🤍
this book was so cute! i really liked how bryce shows his feelings for annabelle, and i loved watching how hard she tried not to like him back. the book did kind of lack “depth” for me though? i feel like we didn’t hear the characters' internal thoughts very often, so it was a little hard to fully connect and feel what they were feeling. still a fun, quick read for the hockey lovers

A 3 star book for me. While I had a fun time reading this book there were some minor inconsistencies (the FMC has her hair in a bun and in a ponytail in the same scene, why does a billionaire’s daughter have student loans etc.).
The one big thing that I personally would love for the main characters to do differently is to take more time to actually get to know one another; there were times when I felt they talked only about their mutual attraction and how wrong it was for them to pursue it, instead of learning about each other as people. That made their connection feel a bit shallow for me, as it seemed to be based solely on lust and nothing more meaningful in the long run. Their consistency and dedication to pursue it felt unearned; I would love to have them connect over more than a vibe and a physical attraction so that I could get fully invested in their -love- story.
This was my first ARC, thank you for the opportunity to experience this world.

I really enjoyed this steamy hockey story and how fast Bryce fell for Annabelle.
Loved their chemistry and that the whole hockey team showed up for the couple when there was trouble.
Great storyline which kept me interested throughout the whole book.

This book is truly delightful with a funny cast of surrounding hockey players. There’s definitely some laugh out loud moments along with very passionate love. I am torn on this one because I did like it and thought it was really cute but I felt this book was poorly written. It was so choppy.
I also had issues with the main characters. I wanted more from them. Their attraction for one another was wonderful but they never really spent time together to grow that attraction from attraction to love.
Overall it was a cute little rom-com with amazingly great side characters.

I found this romance book to have me smiling, swooning, and turning the pages quickly while devouring Annabelle and Bryce's enemies to lover's situation. There isn't a better smile big read than this one by Lily to make your day brighter in many different ways. I have read a lot of her books, and this is the cherry on a sundae type of read.

Ok. I loved this book. It just kept moving. There were no slow boring parts. Everything kept me reading and invested. I totally wanted to be with the guys in the idea of beating Mark! Dude is a slime ball. I couldn't put this book down! I actually lost track of time.

laugh out loud and swoon!
I loved this book. Read it in one day so a quick read! It has the best mix of laughs, tension, spice, and characters! You will fall in love with almost every character in this book and be comping at the bit for more!

This was a cutesy hockey romance with a powerful FMC. It was a bit insta-lovey but the banter was fun and I liked that it wasn’t a fake dating to save an image situation. It was fun to read thus the 4 stars but it didn’t get me invested in reading the stories of the other players.
