This book was a real treat. First of all, the presentation of this gorgeously bound volume was excellent. This is a collection of the author’s essays, articles, and criticism focused on Black Canadian artists. It was definitely thought-provoking, and I learned a lot.

I do think the book would be enhanced by more context before each piece of writing. I want to know where they were published, what prompted the author to write each of them, and maybe some more behind-the-scenes details.

Still, I’m very happy I read this one.
