The end is coming, one way or another, everything will come crashing down.
Lever’s tired, he’s tired of fighting, he’s tired of trying to be enough for someone who never cared about him, and he’s tired of playing everyone else’s games. Maybe it’s time he changed the rules.
After everything that’s happened in his life, Peter certainly never expected to find himself on the same side as Lever in . . . anything. But with little choice, Peter finds himself forced to trust one of the last people he ever would have expected.
People show their true colors when they’re put to the test, and Lever and Peter are about to be put to the test. They will be pushed beyond their limits in body, mind, and soul. The challenge of a lifetime is upon them, and the choices they make will have long reaching consequences.
Yet, the Challenger Trials are only the beginning, and for better or worse, nothing will ever be the same again.
P.D. Atkerson is a homeschooled writer, living in Montana, who may or may not be a secret agent. She spends almost as much time in the worlds she creates as she does the real one. When she’s not reporting the stories of her agents, she’s learning different languages, or traveling to different worlds through the portals of books. She has a black belt in sarcasm and a master’s degree in useless facts.
Oh. My. Goodness. I’m gonna cry and scream. I can’t believe it. There’s…oh my. How can they pull me in so emotionally????? I’m like, ok yeah. No words to express my feelings right now. Except I love these people. They madden me and make me cry and happy all at onceeee. I cannot wait for what’s in store next?!!!
After almost a year of waiting, it’s finally here! End Game was both intense and thrilling. The kind of book you read aloud to your siblings while following them around the house, so that none of you miss a moment.
Things I liked: I think I like Lever more than Peter! My sister doesn’t quite agree- but ok. Maybe they are on the same level. Lever still struggles with understanding he is forgiven, loved, and adopted. He had so many questions and doubts—my heart ached for him! To see him grow in his new life is exciting!
I also loved all the different languages spoken! Lever speaks Thai! *ahhhhh!!!* That was so fun! I would like to mention that the Thai grammar and sentences were awkward. Men don’t usually use “ ฉัน” for “me”. Instead they say “ ผม.” Also, they would most likely say “ ครับ” at the end of sentences (it’s the polite Thai sentence ending for guys). That would make the scene more classy. But overall, I would tell Lever, คุณพูดภาษาไทยเก่งมากค่ะ!
Best Interactions (trying not to ruin anything, but yeah, there are small spoilers):
1. Lever and Agent Sheldon’s scenes are some of the best parts of the book. How Sheldon keeps reminding and reminding Lever that he can come home. That Sheldon never gives up on Lever— on his son. Sooo good!
2. Lever and a certain other Deadlock descendant. To quote Casablanca, “This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.” I can’t wait until they can finally get along and forget the past!
I do have unanswerable questions. - How does the DL family avoid the cameras in Asia? -What happened to Cody Sheldon? He seems very unlike his younger self. How did he become a “non-combatant”?Well, I hope Lever will bring back whatever Cody lost.
Critiques: 1.The book is a little wordy. 2. There’s too much nausea in the series. TMI, as Peter called it. 3. Too many ellipsis prevent strong cohesive thoughts. 4. Last problem, the romance is mushy. No other way to describe it. There’s no need for so much heads rubbing against each other, please! :(
Overall, the book is amazing! The ending was perfect. I am looking forward to hearing more about the ex-Deadlock family! Thank you P.D. Atkerson!
I will one-hundred percent be re-reading and tabbing and annotating this series to the gills because if there was ever a series that fully encompassed exactly what I hope my books will one day be . . . this is it.
A little weird pacing/timing in the first bit that kinda threw me off and was hard to get into but got past that fast and it was a very satisfying book.
