The Running Soul

Rate this book
This book is the story of Parul Sheth who started running and used it as a way to getting her life back on track. It is the story of a broken woman who, thanks to running, was able to cope with her trauma and evolve into a strong person.

Parul’s story, will resonate with a lot of us. We all have our own personal hell from which we are trying to escape. It is for the sari clad lady who dreams to run in track pants on Marine Drive, for the alcoholic who is trying to quit and adopt a healthier lifestyle. For the woman who is trapped in her roles, but wants to break free and find herself, as well the workaholic executive who thinks he cannot follow his passion due to lack of time. The road is perilous but with sheer tenacity we can learn to enjoy the journey. Each hill we climb is making us stronger, taking us higher.

With this story I hope to inspire the non runner to start running, the half marathoner to dream bigger and realise that even the impossible is possible, and the marathoner to push his own perceived limits and aim for the much desired personal best.

one of nice books I have read .. good to read for one time ...
I started this read as a part of my upgration for those running books but very soon I was reading a life struggle story of a brave "GIRL".

As soon as you read the Preface from Amit Seth sir - ... you get the jist of what you can accept from the book ...

The authors fight and romance with life is clearly shown ... without doubts the book is closely related to the concept of life and her struggles but it is more reflecting how an endurance sport a passion a love for running helps her out in her life ...

the training of running was just like the training for her new life after the tragedy that hit her and her family ... she again compiled her life and started once again ... when you go into running there is a rule and that is

unlearn what you have learnt
Re learn what you want to learn

...
this is very well donstrated in this book ...

A book worth reading once ...

keep going

Its an interesting book and Parul helps a new comer shed, unload and motivates the soul to run and break the imposed barriers. A brilliantly strewn narrations on the events and milestones in her personal, running life. Encourages a new comer to start running.

the analogy of using life events and running milestones is awesome - a must read, for some one who is deliberating on "if running is for me".

Enlightening and inspiring, the narrative flows smoothly through the memoir. It is also insightful as she talks about the nuances of running. She actually gets into the training part of running and clarifies the idea how running, like any other sport, is also about the mind. Once the mind is in control, then anything and everything is possible. She embeds this discourse throughout the length do the book and makes her struggle of being a runner while being a single parent, very real and tangible.

This book is a good collection of experiences, wins, and challenges that any runner faces. The author, in a seemingly fluid manner, describes how running brought about a change in her outlook towards life after a terrible personal loss. This book will resonate with every runner out there. Way to go, Parul!

I am surprised this book does not have any reviews on goodreads yet. I am a runner and have completed 3 half marathons. I am also at that stage where I have made up my mind to run the full marathon but don't really know how. Parul Seth has been running for 7-8 years now and has run half marathons as well as full marathons. She started running after a personal tragedy. The book's every word, sentence, paragraph and page resonated with me. Those are things I have thought myself so many times.
I loved the book. It is a short but very motivating read.
What this book is not:
- A training plan for marathons. If you are looking for tips on how to train, this book is not the one for you
- How to motivate you to start running. I don't really think this book will turn a couch potato into a runner

Please do read it if you are a runner yourself.
