She orchestrated her own kidnapping. She just didn't expect to want her captor.
Sofia Rosetti has spent eleven years haunted by dreams she can't explain—fragments of a boy's voice, Russian lullabies, and a name that doesn't belong to her. When she engineers her own abduction by the Volkov bratva, she's looking for answers.
What she finds is Alexei Volkov, the pakhan of the Russian bratva—ruthless, relentless, and obsessed with making her pay for his brother's death.
When Sofia lets herself be taken, she thinks she's in control. She thinks she can get her answers and get out.
She's wrong.
Because Alexei doesn't just want her punished. He wants her broken. And the dark thing growing between them—the heat that flares every time he touches her—is the most dangerous game either of them has ever played.
But Sofia's past holds secrets that will shatter everything both families believe. And when the truth comes out, she'll have to blood or love, loyalty or freedom, the family she was born into or the enemy she can't stop craving.
Blood Memory is a scorching dark romance featuring a captive heroine, a morally gray anti-hero, and enough tension to set your book on fire. Book 5 in the Chicago Rosetti Family series. Standalone with HEA.

Sofia Rosetti orchestrated her kidnapping to gain answers for the nightmares she has had for the past eleven years, but little did she know that being kidnapped by the notorious Alexei Volkov would lead to something she never anticipated.
For the past eleven years, Alexei Volkov has been planning the murder of Rosetti's princess, Sofia Rosetti, but he never guessed she would walk directly to him on her own. Sofia has no idea that it isn't the answers Alexei wants to give her; it is the death he feels she deserves for the murder of his brother, Mikhail.
Sofia knows Alexei wants her blood, but she wants answers first. Why does she dream of a Russian boy named Mikhail, and why does his name stop her in her tracks? How is it that she is the only one in her family who knows Russian? To get these answers, she needs to walk right into the arms of the enemy, but are answers the only thing she wants?
**Possible Spoilers**
I like that we finally get to see more into Sofia and the demons she is carrying. In the previous books, you barely see her. She pops in for a family dinner, and then at the end, becomes close to the new women in the Rosetti family. At the end of book 4, with Alessandro and Emma, I was hoping there would be an explanation as to why she felt the need to bring the Bratva to her family home for an ambush. We finally got some clarity!
Sofia and Alexei were always going to happen, but I wanted more out of Alexei. The media has always painted Russians as cruel and unfeeling. I wanted more of this from Alexei. When Sofia was snooping around Mikhail's room at the cabin, it didn't make sense to me that seeing the other half of the silver heart would trigger the lost memories to rush back. Besides the journal she found and read back at the compound, there should have been something else, I feel, but then again, I have never been in this situation to know.
I was shocked at the response from Marco when Sofia told him what she remembered. I get that she was 17, but she was a kid! I can tell you that if a boy I had strong feelings for or even loved told me to keep what was about to happen as a secret because he wanted to prevent bloodshed, I would have done the same. Although the feeling of being betrayed by her brothers was real, and I felt that!
All in all, this book was good; not as great as the others, but it filled in some missing pieces to Sofia and her life. Now, onto the last of the Chicago family: Nico!

This one was very complex. I did like the beginning and the edge it had, but it was actually very soft.. Despite the mature and devastating content and past. I found Alexei a big softie.. Is that normal? I found Sofia at times more badass..
To be honest I did leave a few tears behind when near the ending.. I rarely cry with books, so that makes this one special.
Unlike others, I found this a bore. I picked it up & put it down several times. I skimmed over the repetitions & navel gazing, got to the end, rewarded myself with chocolate, and was never more pleased to finish a book!
