My life has been confusing lately, and I wanted something to lift my spirits. So, I downloaded Soothe: True Stories of Healing by Matthew Donnelly. The book is a series of personal stories, and Donnelly treats each one with care.
What stands out most is the book’s honesty. Donnelly doesn’t try to dramatize trauma or wrap everything up neatly. Instead, he pays attention to the small, human moments. His writing stays clear and grounded, letting the storytellers’ voices shine without embellishment.
In the end, Soothe is precisely what its title promises. A comforting, reassuring read. It offers a kind of soft hope that lingers long after you close the book. In summary, I would recommend it to anybody whose life is out of balance and feels the need to get themselves back on track.
