I just finished reading Anowers, thanks to the author for sending it to me, and honestly… this book completely blew me away. If there’s a book I want to reread as soon as I’m done, it’s definitely this one. I absolutely enjoyed every moment of it.

Honestly, this is one of the best Nigerian thrillers I’ve read in a long time. It’s immersive, cinematic, and completely captivating. I couldn’t stop reading, and I know this is a book I’ll come back to again. It’s definitely a five stars for me! I really hope there’s a book 2 because i would love to read it. I absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves a good story!

Oh the things i would do to experience reading ANOWERS for the first time😩😩.

There's nothing i can say that could truly express how much this book meant to me.

This is hands down my favorite read of 2025!

The idea itself behind this book is a thing of remarkable brilliance.
The author exceeded all my expectations.
The characters were unforgettable, I was so shocked that i could actually name all 26 siblings by the end of the book. The author did an amazing job making each sibling distinct and it wasn't hard telling who is who.

What's more, Chapters have titlesssI started ranting in my notes app as i read, when i tell you i got so caught up in the story that I forgot all about my notes. Thats how gripping Anowers is!
Lots of suspense. Lots of tension, all in a good way ofcourse. My heart was in my throat! Every twist kept me on edge and I had to know what comes next!
And that cliffhanger at the end? Mr Author man, I need book 2 yesterday! Please and thank you

This book truly stands out! I promise its unlike anything you've read especially in Nigerian lit. I highly recommend.
Five blazing stars from me. I honestly love this book so much!

Make sure you stop what you are doing right now, grab a copy of this book immediately and dive in!

I was privileged to read an advance copy of ANOWERS. And wow, I love it. I like the contrast between the calculated violence of the assassination team and the soft, introspective voice, which is the main ingredient that kept me hooked. And I love love the narrative choices, the fact that while the violence is graphic, it is not gratuitous. This is such a great book.

I finished the book in a day! I literally stayed up all night because putting it down felt impossible.

What stood out first was the tone. The story flows in a way that pulls you forward without effort. One chapter ends and you tell yourself you’ll stop, but you don’t. You can't.  The writing has momentum, and the tension never fully relaxes, making you hold your breath for what comes next.

The constant tension between the children feels earned, they are deeply human characters (most of them anyways, hehe) trying to survive a system that shaped them before they had a choice. The contrast between their cool facades and the chaos inside them is one of the strongest parts of the book.

I loved the narrative style and how we get to experience the story through the eyes of two of the children, then zoom out into third-person for certain events. That shift adds depth instead of confusion. It lets you sit inside their heads, then step back and see the bigger, darker picture forming.

The themes of family loyalty and self-preservation run through every chapter. These characters love each other (in their own way), but love doesn’t always mean safety. Choosing yourself can feel like betrayal and that tension gives the story weight.

The character depth genuinely surprised me. Every layer peeled back reveals another one beneath it. Nothing feels wasted. Even small details come back with meaning.

And then there’s the plot twist near the end, it lands hard and changes how you see everything that came before it.

The book ends on a cliffhanger that made me sit quietly for a minute after the last page reeling from all the emotions. Since this is the first in a series, I’m already impatient for what comes next.

Honestly, this is the best Nigerian thriller I’ve read in a while

I'm not sure how I feel about this and I don’t know why. On one hand, the writing is gorgeous and the world building is immersive. You can just tell the author has a talent!! But on the other hand, it dragged for me in parts and I found myself zoning out during some of the more detailed sections. I respect what the author was going for, but it just didn't connect with me emotionally. The characters didn't quite feel like people I cared about as they felt distant and I didn’t invest in their journeys as much as I wanted to. I did find some of the plot points overly complicated too.

I think part of the issue was emotional resonance. The book didn't move me as much as I thought it would. The writing's beautiful, but I felt detached from the story. Maybe it's the pacing, maybe the characters, maybe it's me. A good edit might've helped tighten things up, as it felt overly long.

Despite all this, I think fans of political thrillers will probably love it. I think the author has a good grasp on that genre. It's a decent debut, but it didn't blow me away.

From the very first page, the book pulls you in and refuses to let go. It’s an easy read, not because it’s simple, but because it’s so captivating that you hardly want to put it down. I started reading yesterday, and before I knew it, the night was gone. I barely slept because I couldn’t stop turning the pages😅. That’s how captivating the story is.
This book deserves a movie adaptation
