7 Days to Fame - Complete Scripts

Rate this book
7 Days to Fame is a three-issue comic book series (originally published 2005) about a reality TV show where contestants go online to commit suicide so that they can become "famous." The story follows Marc and Richelle, two young television producers, who accidentally tape and broadcast a suicide. They lose their jobs at a television station, but get a job at a website where they begin to webcast more and more suicides. They launch a new show called "7 Days to Fame" where people get the opportunity to tell their life story, if they agree to kill themselves on this live webcast. The show is a massive, international hit and Marc and Richelle are suddenly rich, famous, and very successful. See what happens when suicide becomes entertainment. 7 Days to Fame was originally published as a three-issue comic book, available online on Amazon.com. These scripts are available for the first time in eBook form so that users can enjoy the creative process and script as they were originally written by Buddy Scalera. This story is an insightful social commentary for the modern age. People who enjoyed movies like Network and The Running Man will probably like this thought-provoking story of media excess, fame, and friendship. I loved this story for what it was trying to say, and what it said to me. You won’t find spandex or super-powers in this one, just strong storytelling, some really innovative concepts, and a book that brings up some really intelligent questions. Highly recommended. -Aint It Cool News Scalera isn’t offering us any easy judgments (yet), but he is offering something far more thought-provoking than the sensationalistic covers suggest. -Fanboy Planet Scalera and Diaz have produced a comic that tackles a very serious issue and simultaneously proves an entertaining read, and we could all use more of that in comics. -Comic Critique Their fictional story has more humanity and honesty than any episode of The Real World ever could. -Pop Matters Honestly… this is a good, good comic. -Comic World News Scalera’s writing is far more gentle and natural than I would have imagined. -Critiques on Infinite Earths An excellent first issue to what looks to be a great limited series. I’m going to go ahead and give this issue an A. -Newsarama The book is very effective. -Snap Judgements Scalera does have a talent for writing dialogue that makes it hard to stop reading. -Bags & Boards Regardless, the appalling notion of whether suicide could become socially acceptable entertainment is, sadly, well worth considering, and it’s handled here with intelligence, sensitivity and plenty of psychological horror. -Rue Morgue Scalera and penciller Dennis Budd provide a solidly satisfying conclusion to their edge-of-your-seat and edgy-without-being-sensationalistic story. The actions of the characters are believable. It earns the full five Tonys. -Tony Isabella All in all, 7 Days to Fame is a noteworthy effort that suggests both Scalera and Budd are talents to keep an eye on. -Buzzscope Story by Buddy Scalera Art Dennis Budd, Nick Diaz, Joe Caramagna, Joe Statema -- Colors by Wilson Ramos & Marie Stamas Published by After Hours Press & Comic Book School
