Inside the heavy walls of humanity's last sanctum, Alux is known by many names. He is a monster, a myth, a mistake. The embodiment of creativity, a walking sin.
He is a demon. The Fire-bringer.
In a world governed by stifling shades of red and gray, the Skies have birthed him wrong. Black eyes with too much behind them, black hair too wild to tame and hide. And of course, the silver veins on his arm, the source of his fire and of his cruel truth: that he's a reminder, existing only to prove the gods right.
That evil walks among men. But still, the Skies protect us.
They won't protect Alux, though, and his time is running out. When he discovers his new guardian plans to stage a fatal "accident" to remove him, Alux is forced to make an impossible choice: accept his fate, or sacrifice the safety of the walls for the haunted, war-torn wasteland outside.
Except the desolate world beyond the gate isn't empty. It is home to things only seen in history books, and fierce warriors of legend whose very existence challenges everything Alux was taught.
And the Skies cannot—will not—be challenged.
Hunted from all directions for his volatile power, Alux must face a chilling truth: Is he the villain destined to burn his world to ash, or the sun who rises to light the way?
