Role Play

How do you handle falling in love on the table when you might be falling in love off of it?
I've been playing D&D with Sam for years, and we've been friends for even longer. I've done a great job of not letting my crush interfere with that, until his paladin kisses my bard, and now I can't get any of it out of my head. Sam's all fire and divine rigorousness, and he looks at me like he wants to devour me. The problem is, I only seem to be able to say what I'm really feeling in character. Both my character and I are keeping secrets now, and the only question is what's going to happen when the truth comes out?
When Mirabel and Sam's D&D role-playing crosses the line between friends and lovers, they start to toy with the line as well. It's easier to pretend to be a dashing bard and steadfast paladin than two people falling in love, but is their connection only as strong as their characters'?

This book was very different from anything I’ve read before. It was an interesting combination of the relationship between the characters Ratha and Dontae and their real life counterparts Mirabel and Sam. Although it took a bit of navigating to see how those two could come together in both their role play and reality, they ended up forming a sweet love that was perfect for them both.

Role Play is the second book in the Kinkotica series. I enjoyed this read. This is a short, spicy novella that blends kink, friendship, and emotional tension really well.

This is Mirabel and Sam’s story. They’ve been friends for years and play D&D together, keeping things firmly in the “just friends” category, until their characters cross a line. What starts as role play slowly bleeds into real feelings, and suddenly neither of them is sure where the game ends and the truth begins.

This book explores how easy it is to hide behind a role when admitting your real feelings feels too risky. Is what they feel only safe when it’s in character, or will they finally be honest outside the game? You’ll have to read to find out.

This is the third book by Ally Marr I’ve read, and once again, I was not disappointed. I’m really enjoying this series and can’t wait to read more of it!

As always, be mindful of any trigger warnings, what I like you may not.

Happy Reading! 🎲💜
