Oh, what a fun story! This is the 3rd book I've read by Cassandra Joelle and the more I read her writing, the more I enjoy it! This book was such a fun, touching, sweet read. The main male character, Jack, is an astronaut who's space craft malfunctions during a test launch and crash lands on the Wyoming ranch of Annie, the female main character. He's suffering from amnesia from the crash, but she and her friends on the ranch nurse him back to health, and a sweet romance blossoms between Jack and Annie during his time at her home. The premise of this book might sound a little unrealistic or unbelievable (at least that thought crossed my mind), but honestly, Cassandra Joelle really pulls it off! She takes what might seem like a far-fetched plot for a book and makes it a realistic, believable, and heartwarming romance that I didn't want to stop reading! I loved both main characters and I really liked how the author slowly pulled back the layers of Jack's backstory, so the reader learns more and more about his interesting life (before the crash) as the story unfolds and as he himself gains back his own memories. There are even some unexpected twists in Jack's story that throw some wrenches into the growing romance. The "love-at-first-crash" romance between Jack and Annie happens quickly, as they both seem to feel an attraction for the other almost immediately, but it doesn't feel rushed at all. Even though they fall head over heals for each other soon into the story, their love and care for each other is genuine and heartfelt and adorable to read.
As always in Cassandra's books, I loved the Christian themes throughout this story. Both characters love the Lord and are seeking to honor Him in every aspect of their lives, especially in their developing romantic relationship. Both Jack and Annie are loveable, selfless, God-honoring characters, which is so refreshing and such a joy to read! I especially loved the theme of learning to trust in the Lord's plans and trust in His perfect timing that pervades this story. Both characters are challenged to wait for and trust in God's will (while fighting natural temptations that come with their strong attraction to each other), and at the same time they're repeatedly reminded how much God loves them and takes care of them. What a wonderful reminder for all of us! This was an enjoyable, uplifting, precious (and yes, swoony) story!
(I was given a free copy of this book from the author, but all reviews and opinions are mine and are 100% honest.)
