Bachelor 2: The Sizzling Silver Fox: The Lovesbury Valentine's Day Auction

Rate this book

Gil Pruitt stole my family's ski lodge, turned it into his luxury empire, and left me with nothing but a food truck and rage. So when he walked onto that Valentine's auction stage looking like every silver-fox fantasy I've tried to bury, I did the only logical I bid every last dollar to win him.

He thinks I'm just another woman who wants him. He has no idea I'm the girl whose legacy he destroyed. My plan? Seduce him. Make him fall. Then reveal exactly who I am and watch him suffer.

But Gil doesn't do what he's told. When he drags me to his empty chef's kitchen—the one he built but never filled—and looks at me like I'm the missing piece, I start to wonder if I've been fighting the wrong enemy. Because the man I thought was heartless might actually see me. And the revenge I planned might cost me the future I didn't know I wanted.

💗 💕 🔥Short, steamy, and full of heart, this spicy silver fox romance delivers enemies-to-lovers tension, revenge gone wrong, open-door heat, and a guaranteed happily ever after. Perfect for readers who love age gap romance, small-town Valentine's vibes, and heroines who fight dirty—until they fall harder.

Revenge at the Flynn Lodge

Ruby’s parents, owners of a mountain lodge, died when she was 8. She was raised there by her uncle, and later went to school in Paris. She returns to the lodge to run the kitchens until her uncle sells the property to a developer named Gil (the Silver Fox) and it becomes a new luxury resort called The Pinnacle. Ruby wants revenge on Gil for taking her job and her family lodge; at the town Valentine’s festival, she bids on him to get a weekend alone and a chance to reveal him as a conniving fraud.

I can’t actually give an accurate timeline of when Ruby went to Paris, when she worked in Denver and when she got her food truck because it’s unclear in the book. It’s also unclear how she never talked to her uncle about the property sale and just assumed it was stolen, or fraudulent, or whatever she thinks happened. She just decides the best thing to do is spend every penny she has to bid on this dude, f him silly all weekend and then embarrass him…….okay. The plan is not well conceived although the rest of the writing is good enough that I did not DNF. The intimacy scenes are good, on par with other books by this author. The ending was a bit painful though, a lot of tearful looks and life-altering realizations after 72 hours of drama.

Ruby Flynn always knew she’d come home to run the kitchen at her family’s beloved ski lodge. She just needed to earn her stripes first, sharpen her skills and make her parents proud. But when she finally returns, ready to claim her place behind the stove, she finds the lodge sold out from under her to a slick city developer. Enter Gil Pruitt. Public enemy number one in Ruby’s mind. He didn’t just buy the lodge; he stole her legacy. He scammed her uncle, stripped the place of what mattered, slapped a shiny new name on it, and called it his own. Or so she believes. So, Ruby does what any rational, heartbroken heroine would do: she scrapes together her last penny and bids on him at the town’s Valentine’s Day auction. The plan? Win him for the weekend. Seduce him. Dig up proof of his shady dealings and expose him to the whole town. Flawless plan. Zero emotional complications. What could possibly go wrong? Well… everything. Because Gil is nothing like the villain she’s constructed in her head. When he takes her back to the lodge, Ruby braces herself to hate every change, but instead she finds thoughtful restorations, carefully preserved pieces of history, and echoes of her parents woven into the walls. The more she sees, the more her certainty starts to crumble. And that’s when the real trouble begins. Ruby wants to despise him. She truly does. But Gil’s quiet vulnerability, his gentleness, his longing to finally belong somewhere, it all reaches her in a way she can’t ignore. Their charged glances turn into lingering moments. Her defenses, once ironclad, begin to soften. And when he reveals a kitchen waiting for its new chef—waiting for her—something inside Ruby gives way. Suddenly, the future she thought was stolen from her feels heartbreakingly possible again. One of my favorite moments is Ruby’s confession. She doesn’t sugarcoat her scheme or dodge responsibility; she owns it. And Gil’s response? Surprisingly gracious, layered with understanding instead of fury. It deepens his character in a way that makes their connection feel even more fated. The only lingering question might be why Ruby never asked her uncle about the sale in the first place, but honestly, without that misunderstanding, we wouldn’t get this delicious, emotionally rich enemies-to-lovers romance. And that would be the real tragedy. Tender, tense, and brimming with heart, this story serves up redemption, second chances, and a love that feels as warm as a firelit lodge in winter.

She bid her last dollar to break him. He rebuilt her instead.

Ruby spends six months hating the man who transforms her family’s mountain lodge into a luxury empire. So when Gil steps onto a Valentine’s charity auction stage looking controlled and untouchable, she bids her every last dollar to win a weekend with him. Her plan is to seduce him, expose him, destroy him. She doesn’t expect the way he watches her like she’s the missing piece in a life he built too carefully.

Gil is used to control. Deals, properties, emotions. He doesn’t expect the sharp-tongued pastry chef with fire in her eyes to challenge him at every turn. But the more time they spend together, the harder it is to ignore the heat between them and the cracks forming in the story she’s telling herself. When the truth surfaces, revenge unravels into something far more dangerous than either of them planned.

Enemies can become lovers, but only when pride gives way to honesty. As the lies fall away, what’s left is raw desire, shared grief, and a choice between clinging to the past or risking something real.

Ruby begins fueled by anger, using seduction as a shield, but she grows into a woman willing to face her fear of loss and claim both love and ambition without sabotaging herself. Gil starts emotionally guarded, convinced his chance at real partnership has passed, and learns that strength means showing up instead of staying in control. Their dynamic shifts from sharp tension to honest intimacy built on mutual respect, where heat deepens into trust and power settles into partnership.

A hot, enemies to lovers, age gap, small town romance where grief, pride, vulnerability, and legacy collide. It’s about releasing revenge, rebuilding identity, and choosing connection over isolation. At its core, it’s two stubborn people deciding love is worth the risk of starting over.

The Elevator Pitch: A grieving chef spends her last dollar to buy a weekend with the developer she blames for destroying her family’s legacy, intent on seduction and revenge. Instead, she finds a man who refuses to be her villain and a connection that threatens the anger keeping her safe. What begins as a calculated takedown turns into a high heat reckoning with grief, pride, and the terrifying possibility of building something new together.

Ruby goes into this story fueled by grief, rage, and a need for justice. She truly believes Gil Pruitt is the villain who destroyed her family’s legacy, and when she sees him on that Valentine’s auction stage, she doesn’t hesitate to throw herself into a plan that feels deliciously reckless. Her goal is simple: make him fall… then destroy him.

Except Gil isn’t the monster she’s built in her head.

Gil is layered, wounded, and unexpectedly gentle. A silver fox with quiet intensity, hidden heartbreak, and a deep respect for the history of the lodge he now owns—even before he ever knew Ruby existed. Watching him look at Ruby like she’s something rare and precious is pure swoon.

What makes this story shine is the emotional tug-of-war inside Ruby. She wants to hate him. She needs him to be the enemy. But every conversation, every lingering look, every moment of growing connection cracks that narrative apart. Her head and heart go to war, and it’s messy, painful, and incredibly human.

Their chemistry simmers rather than explodes right away, making the eventual heat even more satisfying. The tension, the hesitation, and the slow realization that they might be exactly what the other needs creates a powerful emotional payoff.

I especially loved that when the truth finally comes out, Ruby doesn’t hide. She owns her mistakes, tells Gil everything, and allows herself to start healing. That honesty becomes the foundation for something real—something built not on revenge, but on understanding.

If you love:

"I want you to understand something. I'm all in. This isn't casual for me. This isn't a weekend fling. When I offer you something, I mean it."~Gil🥰

It's Valentine's Day in the small community of Lovesbury.💘💘💘 And an Auction of Bachelors is underway. A young woman has been saving her money, $847 to be exact, to place her bid on a much older man she's been watching for 6 months. Was she a stalker?👤 Maybe. It wasn't confirmed, but I'd say Ruby was getting her Mission Impossible points by watching Gil Pruitt, owner of the Pinnacle.😂 She has to win Bachelor #2 no matter what. Ruby Flynn has a food truck, the Rise & Grind, and slight spoiler, her family use to be owners of the once named Flynn's Lodge. AKA the new and improved Pinnacle.😯 Revenge is her motivation. She wants to take Gil down.🦹‍♀️⬇️

Here's the thing, the story is really short, so things are moving quickly, the themes, the plot are snapping.🫰🏻🫰🏻 It doesn't take baby steps to develop, but spins and spins and gets resolved rather quickly. The story takes place over the weekend. Despite this, I was still on board with this short story. There are emotions (sad moments), connection, naughty spice 🥵🌋🥵, resolution building in this world.🚡⛷️🏂🏻⛷️🚡🏂🏻⛷️🏂🏻🚡

I enjoyed what Ms Jones did. She wrote a story that's different and is written well. There's a lot of structure to the storytelling. I liked Gil. He's older, 48, a silver fox who shared his thoughts, past feelings and hurts. He had been aware of Ruby and her food truck for 6 months. He's smart. Ruby is in her late 20s but this girl was flying by the seat of her pants in this situation.😆 She had so much to learn. Including forgiveness. There's a HEA. If you like revenge to jumpstart a Valentine romance, then here's your book. I like the book cover. Happy reading. *•>§<•*💙🩷💙🩷

4.5 ⭐s She must be crazy; she just spent her last $847 to buy a man she hates at a charity bachelor auction!

Ruby’s parents, James and Rebecca Flynn, had founded Flynn's Lodge. The families who returned yearly became family, not guests. But her parents died, and her Uncle Danny took over the business. She was only eight when it happened, and she has held tight to all of her memories of growing up in the lodge.

Now twenty years later Uncle Danny has sold the lodge to Gil Pruitt. Gil's the owner of Apex Hospitality Group, a company that buys and flips properties. The first thing Gil did was to change the name of the lodge to The Pinnacle. He's moved into one of the cabins and says he's here to stay and become part of the local community. This is hard to believe about a man who's made his living flipping properties.

Ruby is certain that if she could just get in his office, she'd be able to uncover his dirty dealings concerning his acquisition of her former home.

When the lodge was sold, Uncle Danny lost his job as owner/manager and has been forced to become a ski instructor and a guide for the tourists. She, a Parisian-trained Cordon Bleu chef, lost her commercial kitchen and now has only "Rise & Grind," a food truck. She and Uncle Danny were robbed!

Mayor Evelyn Hartwood announces a bachelor auction is to be held to raise money to fix the roof on the town's veterans center. The auction is the Friday night before Valentine's Day; the couple will spend the weekend together. Then they must appear at Sunday's Valentine's Day dance and tell people about their weekend.

Ruby Flynn hates Gil Pruitt with a passion. She plans to expose him at the Valentine's Day dance, IF she wins him at the bachelor. She only has $847 to her name. That money is for her rent and food truck expenses. Surely he won't go for anywhere near that price. Will he?

Bachelor 2: The Sizzling Silver Fox by Annee Jones delivers a delicious mix of tension, heat, and unexpected heart wrapped in a quick, satisfying read.

Ruby storms into this story fueled by anger and a very specific plan for revenge, and honestly, her determination makes her instantly compelling. She isn’t soft or forgiving—she’s sharp, wounded, and ready to make Gil pay for what she believes he took from her. Watching that revenge-driven energy slowly unravel into something far more vulnerable is what makes this story so engaging.

Gil, on the other hand, is peak silver fox energy—confident, controlled, and quietly intense. But beneath the power and polish is a loneliness that gives his character surprising depth. The dynamic between him and Ruby crackles from the start, balancing sharp banter, emotional tension, and moments of genuine connection that feel earned.

What I enjoyed most was how the story plays with expectations. What begins as a revenge scheme gradually transforms into something softer and more complicated, forcing both characters to confront their assumptions, their pasts, and what they truly want. The enemies-to-lovers tension is strong, but the emotional payoff is what really makes the romance work.

Short, steamy, and packed with chemistry, this Valentine-themed story offers drama, sparks, and a satisfying emotional turn that keeps the pages flying. A great pick for readers who enjoy fiery heroines, confident older heroes, and romance that proves love can grow even from the messiest beginnings.

Annee Jones has crafted an enthralling and sizzling romance with Bachelor 2: The Sizzling Silver Fox! The dynamic between Gil and Ruby is scorching from the very first encounter—Ruby’s bold plan for revenge sets the stage for a thrilling enemies-to-lovers journey. The plot is full of intrigue, as Ruby’s scheme to seduce and expose Gil unfolds with unexpected twists and emotional depth. Watching the characters’ layers peel back and their hearts open is truly captivating.

Gil’s complexity and Ruby’s fierce determination make their chemistry irresistible, especially when their interactions shift from playful seduction to genuine vulnerability. The empty chef’s kitchen scene is a highlight, revealing Gil’s softer side and Ruby’s internal conflict, making you root for them both. Their journey from adversaries to something more is heartfelt and beautifully written.

This novella is short, steamy, and absolutely packed with heart. The enemies-to-lovers tension is tangible and delicious, the revenge plot keeps you guessing, and the open-door romance scenes are wonderfully spicy. The guaranteed happily ever after is the cherry on top! If you adore small-town age gap romance, Valentine’s vibes, and heroines with grit who unexpectedly fall hard, you’ll love this story.

I enthusiastically recommend Bachelor 2: The Sizzling Silver Fox—it’s a delightful, passionate romance that will make your heart race and leave you smiling. Don’t miss this wonderful read!.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. Ms. Jones got me with this one. Ruby Flynn is out for revenge. She has one man in her sights. Gil Pruitt purchased Ruby's family's lodge. Everything she has always know was taken away from her. Ruby had to get Gil back by showing the town how unscrupulous he was. Ruby was ready to spend her last dime for a weekend to get close to Gil. She knew she would find something. There is no way him purchasing the lodge was completely above board. She would find out what happened and expose his underhanded deeds.

Ruby had to win him at the Valentine's Day Auction. She only had so much money. Hopefully, it will be enough. She was willing to throw it all away for a chance to expose Gil. After winning, Ruby realized that though her mind was on revenge, her body wanted to get to know Gill better. It worked out. That was the plan. She needed to get close to him. The more they talked and got to know each other, the more Ruby wanted to find out about the sale and get out of there.

That's about all I can tell you. You need to read this book like I did. Ms. Jones had me tearing up. Gil was so sweet. I was hoping that things could work out, but I knew it was doubtful. This book will have readers all up in their feelings. Ms. Jones will always be a must pick for this reader. Stories like this will keep me sticking with her.

“Revenge is a powerful emotion, but wisdom often lies in restraint, self-improvement, and forgiveness.” “An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.” –Mahatma Gandi “Revenge is a dish best served cold.”

If you are going to start out on a path of revenge, be sure you have all the facts. Ruby has been watching Gil for 6 months from inside her food truck planning her revenge. I loved how at the beginning of the book Ruby wanted to destroy Gil and his business because she believed he slighted her and her family legacy, but throughout the book as she gets to know Gil and finds out the truth behind his arrival in town she begins to realize she didn’t have all the facts. The way Annee wrote about these characters had me hoping and praying that when Ruby finally told Gil the truth, he would obviously be upset, but eventually he would forgive Ruby because he could understand why she did what she did. I just love the way the story progressed, this may be a short romance, but there was plenty of spice, conflict, and love between these pages. I look forward to reading the rest of the series and I can’t wait to see how the rest of this series plays out especially since each book is written by a different author.

Love Changes Everything -
Ruby’s plan was to get close to the new owner if her family’s resort and embarrass him, but she soon found the tables turned on herself. Gil had been interested in Ruby for a while, but he never pursued it, but everything changed from the moment he locked eyes with her during the auction event, so made it a point to get to know her better if she won him in the auction. Ruby and Gil’s date started out simple, then it escalated into a heated tension-filled moment, but it took some time for them to cross the boundaries.

Unfortunately, Ruby discovered information that changed her mindset and nearly cost her a chance at a happy life with Gil. However, Ruby took the opportunity to come clean about everything to Gil, which allowed her to start the healing process and acknowledge their connection. As luck would have it, once Ruby and Gil had laid all their cards on the table, they got a chance to build the life they wanted together. This was a truly mesmerising read, that was so captivating I found it difficult to stop reading, once I started and didn’t take a break until I reached the end. I highly recommend this book.

Bachelor #2: The Sizzling Silver Fox by Annee Jones is part of the multi author series The Lovesbury Valentine’s Day Auction and it was a good read.
As a steamy, age gap, small town, enemies to lovers romance it had me hooked from the start with it's engaging main characters, Gil and Ruby.
Ruby, a highly trained chef but stuck working her own food truck barely scraping by is angry. She is fuelled by grief and is after revenge and justice believing that older, silver fox and successful developer Gil Pruitt stole her family's ski lodge and ruined her family's legacy.
Ruby uses the charity bachelor auction and all her savings to enact a plan for outing Gil as underhanded but through the forced proximity of spending the weekend end together with Gil in his 'home' environment and actually seeing and listening to him, the revenge plan becomes complicated.
The attraction between them is high and their chemistry quickly sizzles. The steam and spice along with the well paced story kept me turning the pages to see how their HEA would tun out. I recommend as ideal for a breaktime read or afternoon curled up on the sofa.

Heroine that fights dirty until she falls harder than she ever expected she would. Ruby has one enemy Gil Pruitt. The one person she believes stole her family's ski lodge and left her with nothing but a food truck and rage. She wants revenge in the worst way. She does the only logic thing she can think of doing bidding every last dollar to her name to win him at the Valentine's Auction that is being held and get her revenge by the end of the weekend. But revenge might cost her the future she didn't know she wanted.
This was such a cute enjoyable small town valentine's vibes romance that was enjoyable from beginning to end. It cuts right to the chase right from the beginning and has you on the edge right to the end. Watching Gil and Ruby come together and work through everything between them was magically. The storyline was very well written and enjoyable. I absolutely love how Annee has Ruby facing and not sugarcoating her scheme or dodging her responsibility when it came to trying to hurt Gil. This story perfectly served up beautiful redemption and second chances.

The enemy?

Ruby has become blinded by loss, rage and the need for revenge, it distorts her view and has taken over her life - it's heartbreaking to see. The saddest thing is that Danny could have saved her from all this pain if he had just spoken to her, instead she targets Gil and ends up acting like a slightly crazy woman when her head and her heart go to war. She wants to hate him, she wants him to be the monster, the enemy...but he's not. He offers her everything and the confusion sends her into meltdown.
You cannot help but love Gil, he has his own demons and heartbreak, but he has done everything he can to honour the family who began the lodge, even before he knew about Ruby.
It's a rocky road they have to travel, but it is beautiful to see Gil and Ruby finally embrace a future together that honours the past, without drowning in it. They find home....together.
A lovely read on Kindle Unlimited.

Bachelor 2: The Sizzling Silver Fox is a delightful, feel-good romance that delivers charm, chemistry, and plenty of Valentine’s Day sparkle. Annee Jones creates a fun and engaging story centered around the Lovesbury Valentine’s Day Auction, making the premise playful and instantly appealing.

The silver fox hero is confident, charismatic, and incredibly swoon-worthy, while the romance unfolds with warmth, flirtation, and just the right amount of heat. The pacing is smooth, the banter is enjoyable, and the story keeps a light, upbeat tone that makes it easy to read in one sitting.

I’d highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy sweet contemporary romance, silver fox heroes, and festive Valentine-themed stories. If you’re looking for a charming, romantic escape that leaves you smiling, this one is a wonderful choice.

Annee Jones’ Bachelor 2: The Sizzling Silver Fox is so much more than an age gap Valentine’s Day romance. It is a story filled with heart, vulnerability, and emotional growth.

At its core, this book follows a heroine who hides her true feelings behind anger and a desire for revenge. What initially looks like bitterness is really fear, and watching her slowly confront that fear is what gives this story its emotional depth. She has to face the truth so she can truly open her heart and begin to heal.

Layered on top of that emotional journey is a steamy and satisfying romance. The chemistry is undeniable, and the spice adds intensity without overpowering the heart of the story. This Valentine’s tale strikes a wonderful balance between touching the reader emotionally and delivering a passionate, swoon-worthy love story.

When Ruby’s parents passed away when she was a child it was her Uncle Danny who raised her and assumed ownership of the resort they owned. Years later she is hurt when it sells it to Gil, a land developer, as not only does it leave her without a home but a job as well. When she finds out that he is participating in a bachelor auction she is determined to win a weekend with him and expose him for the ruthless businessman that he is.

Gil has spent his life building his business at the expense of his personal life. He is not disappointed that it is Ruby who supplied the winning bid and he is looking forward to a romantic weekend where he will show her all the work he has put into the resort not realizing who she is and that she has an agenda of her own.

This is a heartwarming story about two lonely people who take a chance on love as they take us on a journey that incorporates overcoming the past and creating a future that will bring them both the happiness they deserve.

Short and sweet!

This had kind of a Cinderella vibe to it. She thought of her life at the Lodge as her castle kind of life. Even after losing her parents, she still lived there with her uncle, till suddenly she learns it's been sold, and she's lost her jobs, and her lifetime home. Of course finding out what really happened, and why the uncle had to sell should have been discussed between them. So it worked out, her ill advised plan to spend every dollar she had left to win, seduce, and destroy her enemy comes to a grinding stop when she finds the.paperwork for the sale, and communication between him, and her uncle. There is a satisfying HEA ending. Trish.A

'Short, steamy, and full of heart, this spicy silver fox romance delivers enemies-to-lovers tension, revenge gone wrong, open-door heat, and a guaranteed happily ever after. Perfect for readers who love age gap romance, small-town Valentine's vibes, and heroines who fight dirty—until they fall harder.'

The characters drove the storyline and they were so very appealing and likeable and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

The premise of this story is fantastic, and I think the author did the best possible job of it within the length constraints of the series, but given the primary conflict, this story needed more time for each of the characters to reveal themselves to the reader and to each other and to have a relationship built on more than insta-lust. I think this storyline would be best served by a novel, not necessarily a long one, but more than what this “short and steamy” series allows for.

I have read a lot of the authors books and I just didn’t like this one. There didn’t seem to be a way out for Ruby after the lies and the way she acts. The solution was just an abrupt here is what I did conversation and Gill saying ok, moving on. There were inconsistencies between Books 1, 2 and 3 in the series concerning what day of the week the auction is on and about needing to attend a dinner on Sunday night. This dinner wasn’t in Books 1 and 3. They did get a HEA but I just wasn’t feeling it.

Small Town romance.
Ruby is a young woman who works in her food truck. But when the town holds a Valentine's Day auction, she decides to get revenge on Gil, the new owner of her family's lodge.
Gil came to this small town to buy a family lodge and finally settle down. For several months, he's been admiring the beautiful Ruby in his food truck, but she could kill him with a single glance.
Will Ruby succeed in her revenge, or will she get caught up in her own game and end up with Gil….

Ruby is determined to get her revenge on Gil. He is a real estate developer who bought her family's resort when it was on the brink of bankruptcy. So at the bachelor auction, she spends every cent she has to win him. Ruby didn't count on the strong attraction that bloomed so quickly between them. I really enjoyed this book. It is a true adventure for Gil and Ruby as they begin to understand each other. Excellent book with a perfect HEA.

This book is part of a multi author series called The Lovesbury Valentine's Day Auction. Tropes: auction, age gap, weekend, and revenge. Ruby blames Gil for the loss of her family's resort and plan a revenge against Gil. A fast instalove between an older business man and an angry younger woman who wants revenge. I love a good auction trope even better it's a Valentine's Day story.

This Bachelor series is seriously good. Gil has bought a failing mountain resort in Lovesbury and in six months it is a success just waiting for the right chef. Step up Ruby, her family used to won the resort so for six months she has parked her food truck outside the resort hating Gil for buying it. At the Valentine's auction she uses her entire funds to bid on him. Their HEA is a page-turner.

Imagine plotting revenge for months. Imagine your plans turn out to be not so easy to execute. Imagine being wrong about the reasons for wanting revenge.

Liked the storyline, great characters, loads of steam.

Had me teary eyed when our heroine finally decides to come clean about her plans and confesses all to the man whom she thought she hated.

I love this book. Five stars isn’t enough. There’s an interesting plot that actually makes sense. The FMC believes something to be true and goes through quite a journey. The MMC is an older silver fox business man with a heart. He definitely falls first. The spice is beautifully spicy. The HEA is heartwarming. You might need a tissue.

Bachelor 2: The Sizzling Silver Fox is part of The Lovesbury Valentine's Day Auction.

Ruby wants revenge on Gil for taking her families business and making it his own. But she doesn't know all the facts. We see a lot of chemistry between Ruby and Gil. They bond over their weekend together, even though Ruby's world drops out from below her. She discovers things about Gil and herself which impacts their future together. Great read!.

This was a short and steamy story of Ruby, who runs the food truck, and Gil, who purchased the lodge from her uncle. Ruby wants revenge and to expose Gil for what she thought he was but after winning the bid on Gil, starts to understand what happened in the past. Can Ruby let go of the past? Can Gil convince Ruby he was looking to preserve much of the lodge as possible? Can they build a HEA?

Ruby makes all kinds of assumptions about Gil. She is convinced he stole her family legacy and her future and goes in with angst and hatred with a ridiculous plan to expose him. Ruby however quickly realizes she was wrong about him and everything she thought happened. At least she owns her actions. This was a good read.
