I read this book in one marathon overnight session and I have no regrets! It is a contemporary paranormal romance about warring shifter packs. Our MMC is a grump of the highest order and our FMC is definitely the most sunshiney sunshine. All it takes is one look at his car repair shop and they are done for. I love fated mates, it always brings the tension and angst. There's also plenty of banter, which I have come to realize is a must for me. The second book is already out so you won't need to wait!
This is a 3.5/4 out of 5 ⭐️ for me. I like the idea of the book but I feel like it just don’t work for me writing wise. It didn’t draw me in and make me obsessed with the characters or details. I felt for them but it just don’t have that okay yes I’m invested moment. I love the rival packs idea and the fact that they face so much. Just wish I could connect more.
I liked it but the end battle was strange to read it kept repeating itself hard to figure out what was going on and the names on the chapters were wrong maybe a problem with kindle download
In Tallow, there are 5 rival wolf clans. The Grimvales, the brutal fighters. The Shadowfangs, the cunning spies. The Dravens, the ruthless scavengers. The Ashen Ones, the guardians and shield. Then there are the Snows, the neutral pacifists. It is against their laws and treaty to mate with a member of a rival pack. At least that’s how the story begins.
Damien Ashford is the Alpha of the Ashen Ones. He is a mechanic by day and a general by night. He is fiercely loyal to his pack and those under his protection. In his human form, he is enormously tall with dark hair, tanned skin, and muscles on top of muscles. In his wolf form, he is a massive black wolf with golden eyes. He’s beautiful in any form he’s in.
Jasmine Snow is a high school library assistant. She is a 24-year-old, petite human with dark hair and light blue eyes. She knows nothing of the wolf clans that surround her hometown.
Jasmine’s truck, her baby, which she named Heap, was on its last leg. She took it to the mechanic on the outskirts of town, on a friend's recommendation. She walks through the door and is met by Damien Ashford. Instantly, there is a pull that Jasmine can’t understand. Her life is then forever changed.
Jasmine learns that she is a wolf shifter from the Snow clan. Her parents never told her in hopes that she would lead a normal life. Meeting Damien Ashford, her mate, caused her wolf to wake up. Fear and the threat of being killed by the Draven clan caused her to shift for the first time.
Now, Damien must reject Jasmine and their bond in hopes of keeping her alive and claiming The Wolf Throne.
I gave this book 5 stars. I loved every second of it. This is a fast-paced, suck you in, keep you on your toes kind of story. Sophie does an amazing job describing Tallow and the territories around it. You will fall in love with not only Damien and Jasmine, but also Roric and all the other side characters as well.
Okay so… this book grabbed me from the start but does require brain power with the political elements. I picked up The Wolf Throne thinking it would be a paranormal romance read and then next thing I knew I was glued to my Kindle for another amazing read.. it’s a little different than others I have read, which was a pleasant change. The tension? Was delicious and the chemistry between the main characters is intense, feral and very much had me wondering if they would survive each other, lol. I didn’t even need to wait long for the first bit of spice! Damien is a broody, possessive alpha (yes, that kind) but Jazz actually holds her own, which made their dynamic even hotter. The attraction feels instinctive and a little unhinged in the best way, and I love me some unhinged! I also really loved the small town vibe mixed with something darker lurking underneath, it caught my attention. There’s always this feeling that things could go sideways at any moment, which kept me locked in even between the spicy moments (and yes… there are spicy moments). My only small element I was unsure of is that things get very intense very quickly which is not a dealbreaker for me but I did find myself wishing for just a bit more buildup before everything exploded.. I like build up and to understand things! The writing is super readable and immersive, especially during the tension heavy and spicy moments. It does a great job of making emotions (and attraction) feel sharp and immediate, which definitely kept me hooked. Overall, this was addictive, dramatic, emotional and just the right amount of unhinged. If you like paranormal romance with mate energy, dangerous men and tension you can feel, definitely add this to your TBR.
I’m starting the year off with this enticing new release by Sophie Hart, and I was absolutely honored to receive a copy to review. She had me immediately with forbidden romance and enemies to lovers, so I couldn’t wait to jump into this story.
Jasmine, Jazz, is in Maine, armed with a beat-up, barely running truck and a life that feels like there’s more to her than meets the eye. Whether she knows it yet or not is still up for debate. Her attention is firmly fixed on Damien, the reclusive, rugged garage owner. He’s tall, wild, elusive, and honestly mouthwatering.
Jazz’s inner voice is curious and constantly questioning, and at times, I wasn’t sure if it was startling her or just us as readers. She’s clearly in a situation she doesn’t fully understand yet, and the big question is whether Damien can fix it or make it worse.
Damien himself is equally intriguing. He’s strong, virile, and undeniably drawn to Jasmine, whom he believes is human. At the same time, his thoughts are tangled up in pack politics, something called the Codex, and references to a Wolf’s Throne. It fits the title, sure, but at this point, I wasn’t entirely sure how or why. He may be a mechanic, but it’s obvious that it isn’t his only role. The mystery surrounding both of them, along with the limited information we’re given, kept me hooked. There are hints everywhere, but nothing is fully spelled out yet.
And yes, I loved the “ Twilight” esque weather vibes at the beginning. The setting feels small-town, rural, gray, and stormy in the best way. Paranormal elements are woven in through specific words and clues, and if the descriptions of Damien didn’t already melt your Kindle, the intense, steamy moments just might.
At this point, I still wasn’t completely sure what type of creature Damien was, and honestly, he comes off a little unhinged, but I can see how the stress of his circumstances pushes him into making abrupt decisions. As if the opposites attract tension wasn’t enough, we’re hit with confirmed secret identities, a political system, a brutal Alpha, and a deeply forbidden romance. I didn’t fully understand how the Five, pack politics, and the commune connected to the bond between them yet, but I trust that will become clearer as the story continues.
This book is a rollercoaster of emotional chaos, hope, lust, and heartbreak. Each chapter throws a new challenge at Damien and Jazz. I did have some trouble fully visualizing certain parts, as the story leans heavily into politics and less into vivid scenery at times. Still, I appreciated the rural setting.
The further you read, the more the vibe shifts. Jazz grows into a fierce, protective warrior, smart, strong, and very heroic. Damien may be a monster, but he’s also a deeply devoted mate. The book is definitely steamy, but the spice isn’t the main focus, which I really loved. At its core, this story is about power, leadership, and becoming king to unite the packs.
Everything builds toward a monumental moment that feels like it could either shatter your heart or completely heal it. The ending was fantastic and pulled me deeper into the story. I loved the epilogue. Damien and Jazz’s romance was lovely and filled with many emotions. Damien and Jazz’s love story is complicated, messy, and hard won, but it does end happily, and that made it all worth it.
Thanks to Sophie Hart for the ebook arc of this book I am leaving an honest review.
The Wolf Throne by Sophie Hart is a wolf shifter romantasy that feels like a quick read because it easily pulls you in quickly. The story was intriguing, which made me want to keep reading. Jazz, the FMC, meets Damien when she drops her beat-up old truck off for repairs and from that moment on, it’s clear there’s far more going on in this town than meets the eye. A howl lot more.
As the chemistry between Jazz and Damien heats up, Jazz slowly begins to uncover the truth about who she really is and how deeply she’s tied to Damien’s world. Multiple wolf packs are introduced, all vying for power and control, which adds tension and conflict. With the secrets, testing of loyalty, and the sacrifices Damien is forced to make in order to fight for Jazz, make this an enjoyable read. Their bond is intense and emotional, and survival will require everything they have and more.
There is conflict! There is spice! Those two things genuinely had me wanting to know what would happen next, so it was easy to keep on reading. That said, I was a little confused at times about how humans and wolves coexist in this world—clearly humans exist, but it wasn’t always clear who knew the truth and who didn’t. Still, that didn’t stop me from enjoying the story overall.
I really appreciated that the book has a solid ending with real closure, which isn’t always guaranteed in this genre. If you’re a fan of wolf shifters, pack politics, and fated bonds, The Wolf Throne is a decent and enjoyable read worth checking out.
The Wolf Throne by Sophie Hart was such an incredible read from start to finish.
This book delivers everything I love in a fantasy romance: fated bonds, forbidden romance, action, betrayal, and emotional depth. From the very beginning, the story pulls you into a world of powerful packs, dangerous politics, and bonds that are impossible to ignore.
The romance is intense and layered full of tension, longing, and choices that come with real consequences. The fated bond aspect adds an extra level of emotional weight, especially when paired with the forbidden nature of the relationships. You can feel the push and pull between duty and desire.
What really stood out to me was the character development. Every character feels purposeful. You grow to love some, fear for others, and even question those you thought you understood. Watching certain characters—and entire packs—evolve from cowardice and self-preservation into protectors willing to fight for what’s theirs was incredibly satisfying.
The action scenes are well-paced and gripping, the betrayal cuts deep, and the stakes feel real throughout the story. Sophie Hart does a fantastic job balancing romance with plot, making this more than just a love story—it’s about loyalty, strength, and claiming your place.
If you enjoy paranormal romance, pack dynamics, morally gray choices, and characters who grow into their power, this is absolutely a book you should pick up. I’m already eager for what comes next
This book hit it off immediately. The biggest issues I had with the book was not feeling the strong emotions like I had really hoped for. But, this book was a very interesting read. The werewolves politics is different from what I am used to reading. The dynamic of the book was one of my favorite parts of it. I also loved the FMC and MMC. The characters perspectives are very unique. The spice between both of our characters was open door, but not like reading a full open door dark romance. The romance in the book is good, and leaves you wanting more if you are used to that. However, with this being a romantasy, it has just enough for most readers. There is a good mixture of magic, fae, spice, and plot to please almost anyone who reads it. I do wish the timelines did not jump so much like they did, I did feel very confused at times and had to reread certain things to fully understand that it was a time jump within the book. I am personally not the best at keeping up with time skips in any book. But I feel this could have been displayed more smoothly.
I enjoyed the concept of this book. Overall it was a good read, but I was confused until about 30% in. After that mark a few things cleared up, and I enjoyed it, but there were several insignificant things that didn’t add up to me. Certain quotes, facts and titles were inconsistent and made me feel like I missed something. For example: what happened to Vincent? There was no clear ending of that relationship. As far as I know he’s still wandering around thinking his girlfriend ghosted him after two years together.
I love a good fated bond, I enjoyed the complications of not being able to accept it. I thought the character development was on point. The villain was a good match to the hero. The only reason that this read isn’t a 4 star is because of the inconsistencies mentioned above. They threw me off guard and took me out of the story to where I had to go back and check my memory.
Wow. I have to admit I really enjoyed this book. I wasn’t sure at first because it felt like I was just dropped right in the middle of something from the first chapter. I even went to check and see if it was a second book of the series. But after a few chapters, it started to make more sense and my confusion was cleared.
The Wolf Throne by Sophie L Hart is an exciting read. I found myself holding my breath, pulse racing as I read this book. I’m usually not one for paranormal romance, but even I found myself rooting for Jazz and Damien as they fought the other packs for a chance to be together. Pack politics, fated mates, romance, fast paced action, war, this book was a great introduction into shifter romance. Twilight, who? Lots of great heart pounding action scenes in this book, and if you like the spice, it has some of that too.
Many thanks to @sophielhartauthor for the copy of the book. You have made a fan out of me. Well done!
Sophie l Hart brings you a unique take on werewolves and their politics. Forbidden love is the central theme driving a fast-burn plot from start to finish.
The book follows both the FMC and the MMC from their perspectives creating dynamic character developments and insights from both sides. And I love a good FMC who isn’t a pushover and stands her ground and a MMC who recognizes that his mate is his equal and takes pride in what she brings to the table.
The story just pulls you in and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I could not put it down, seriously I finished in a day.
The spice factor between our two main characters would probably be about pg13 for a movie if you’re not a big fan of overly descriptive intimate scenes, which also makes it a perfect introduction to young adult readers too into the fantasy romance realm.
You can find this book on Amazon. I cannot wait to read book 2!
I loved that this was a Fated Mates romantasy where both Mates feel it right from the start! That seemed fresh to me or maybe it was because I've read so many where one person fights it the entire book. The chemistry and fight between the two is on point and you can't help but love them.
I love the wolf shifter aspect and the rival packs. This provides high action and drama for a page turner of a book.
The book starts off in such a relatable way that my attention is immediately grabbed and I didn't want to stop reading. Can't wait to dive into book two.
What didn't work for me. The writing style is a bit simplistic and there are quite a few lines and phrases that are repeated.
Thank you to author @sophielhartauthor for the copy of your book. All thoughts and feelings are my own.
"When you came into my shop, I saw everything I never thought I could have. You’re safe. You’re light. Jasmine, I could be bad for you." Damien to Jazz
Not knowing who you really are and having that instant pull to someone you never met before but having that strong connection, attraction it's explosive I mean really on 🔥.
Him being broody, grump and completely in awe of Jazz but so completely protective and not wanting to ruin her. Jazz being sunshine wrapped up in a ball, giving him light in his life, having something precious he wants but shouldn't have.
Their meant to be but her only learning that's she's a wolf and him being the leader of the wolfs, it gets wild, it gets gritty and chaotic on survival.
Let's just say it's a hunt and it gets messy but the ending is so worth all the obstacles.
I applied to be an ARC reader for this book from the author herself and I thank my lucky stars that I was chosen because I loved every minute of reading this book. It is a set in a small town with elements of something dark lurking underneath. It had a bit of a fast build up between the main characters but I felt that it worked with the flow and theme of the book. We have Jazz and Damian, Damian being a broody possessive Alpha and Jazz who holds her own against him. The tension was absolutely delicious and the chemistry between these two characters is intense, feral and unhinged at times, which I love. I would add this to you TBR is you love the mate aspect paranormal romance with an unhinged for his mate alpha.
I did get hooked and wanting to keep reading to learn more about Jazz and Damien. They started out super fast and hot which you would expect with fated mates. There were some shocking surprises as well that I did not see coming.
I loved everything til right at the end. The big fighting scene. I don’t know if it was just my copy, I believe I got an arc copy, and it was still in the middle of edits but it felt like there were 2-4 different endings all mixed together. All were good but it was just a little confusing.
Overall I enjoyed this book and the story between Damien and Jazz.
But for that little bit of a confusion I am giving this a 3.75 rating.
“The throne wasn’t just a chair in a hall. It wasn’t a title or a crown. The throne was this: peace, family, and the future”
I had the pleasure of reading The Wolf Throne by Sophie L. Hart. It did not disappoint. It switches between the two main characters POV,Jasmine Snow and Damien Ashford. We start off meeting Jasmine (Jazz) and what started out as car trouble turns into something no one was prepared for. There are five packs(The Ashen Ones, The Dravens, The Grimvales, The Shadowfangs, and The Snows) but there is only one throne. The King is dead, who will take the throne next? In this book, the author never keeps you wondering. She gave me everything I needed in romance, love, war/strategy, and revenge. It was a nice comfy read. I enjoyed it.
A must read for those who love morally gray, unyielding pack dynamics, and characters that emerge into who they were born to be.
Who doesn’t love breathtaking action, heartbreaking betrayal and forbidden romance all wrapped up with such emotion that it keeps you from putting the book down for some much needed sleep!
Wrap that around morally grey characters that make your head swoon and you have found your next favorite read! A world rife with dominate packs , earth shattering romance, and astounding character development lays the path full of turmoil and self preservation. “Watching” the growth of each character as they navigate their way through is exhilarating.
So, we have lies (family), wolves (5 different clans of), a coming war, a town of humans that don't really know what is going on around them.
Our main fc lives a safe life - and then she meets the man that will change her life.
I am going to not try to give too much away, but I am going to talk about the main female lead, she grows the most in the book - she goes from a timid librarian to a woman of substance, strength, action, even when her parents do not necessarily want her to.
This book will pull you in with its secrets, loyalty, and sacrifices. We meet Jasmine and Damien. Jasmine drops her old truck off for repairs which is how she meets Damien. The chemistry between them heats up. Soon Jasmine starts to uncover the truth about who she is and her ties to Damien’s world. What happens next read to find out
DNFd in the third chapter. This is some sad writing structure. It screams high school level writing. I’m usually never this blunt and negative on a review, but this was just not it for me. So sad because I had high hopes for this one.
This book had me completely hooked from the start. This book delivers everything I love in a fantasy romance: fated bonds, forbidden romance, betrayal, and emotional depth. Definitely can’t wait to read the next book.
I enjoyed the premise of the book and the characters/world. But there’s so many editing errors/ inconsistencies that make it challenging to follow what happened in certain chapters.
The Wolf Throne was a really good book! It hooked me in immediately and kept my attention the whole thing. Jazz and Damians love connection is passionate and perfect. I love the forbidden romance, the fight for true love and the action was good! If you are into the mated bonds, forbidden love, the MMC fighting to save the FMC then this book is for you! And the spice is good!! If you want to know more, we broke it down on our podcast Two Sisters 1 Book, but don't pass on reading it because it was a great read. Can't wait for book 2.
very fast paced. if you've not read shifter stories before then the lack of information could be confusing. the MFC seems to learn information with no context of how or when. despite this its a nice way read, lots of action and a little spice.
