The Almost Twins: A True Story of Courage, Perseverance, and Resilience

Rate this book
Two babies born one day apart across the country, birthed by different women but to the same biological parents. Twins? Well, almost, but not quite . . .

For years, Claire and Tony Moretti’s love story was tested by military deployments, cross-country moves, and the heartbreak of infertility. Just when hope seemed lost, a courageous surrogate stepped forward to help them build the family they longed for. And then, the unimaginable Claire discovered she was pregnant too, against all odds.

With Tony preparing to deploy once more, the Morettis leaned on faith, family, and each other as they navigated two pregnancies hundreds of miles apart. Their reward? Two precious babies, born just one day apart.

The Almost Twins is a true story of perseverance and resiliency—a celebration of family, faith, and the unexpected blessings of love.

Poignant story about real struggles and sacrifices along the path to building a family. A heartwarming read for anyone struggling with infertility and for those who are there as part of the support system.

Based on a true story, this novel was very eye opening and you felt the heartache, fear, worry and unknown right along with Claire. Claire and Tony met in college and it didn't take long for them to realize they were meant to be. Claire was finishing college, Tony was getting his military orders and feet first they both jumped into life as a married couple. After a few tours, a few moves and dogs they realized that they were ready to start a family. But it wasn't as easy as they thought and various doctor appointments, specialists and years of hope, heartbreak, heartache and procedures they decided it was best to look into surrogacy. After finding Tia, they knew she was the one to carry their child. Everything felt right about her, and her husband was also military and understood what Tony had been through so far. The pregnancy with Tia took and to her shock Claire also found out she was pregnant as well. Two babies and due dates only a week apart and as God always has a plan, these two were also born early and only a day apart from each other! This novel, although very emotional was very rewarding and I was so happy for Claire and Tony in the end. This novel definitely had me in tears a few times, but it really gave me insight into what all can go into IVF and the want of having a family when it seems everything is working against you. Thank you to the author for sharing this story for others to read and learn from and to Suzy Approved Book Tours for the tour invite.

AM Kehoe, the Author with Lindsay Macmillan Author of “The Almost Twins” “A True Story of Courage, Perseverance, and Resilience” has written an inspirational, memorable, and thought-provoking memoir, and biography. This is based on a true story, but the Authors changed the names for privacy. This is lovingly written and describes the heartaches, the struggles, the courage, and the significant amount of blood, sweat, tears, and work that helped define a young couple’s dreams of having children. Clair and Tony Moretti’s love story was a tribute to a hard-working couple with goals and dreams. Clair went to school and eventually earned a Doctorate, while her husband Tony was in the military in “hot troublesome areas”, and constantly being moved. The couple loved dogs, and I as a doglover and appreciated that this was in the book

Eventually this both wanted children and had a difficult, tragic and hard road ahead of them. Medications, IV Fertilization, and emergency surgeries seemed to be on the agenda. Clair was subjected to many painful tests and went to many doctors. Eventually, they found a willing surrogate that was able to get pregnant. This amazing woman, Tia, was a loving and giving person, and wanted to be able to give this hardworking couple a baby. Clair and Tony’s family were supportive and always available to help watch the dogs or do anything for Clair was Tony was away. Unbelievably, Clair finds out that she has conceived a baby as well despite all odds. I appreciate how the Authors show how courage, faith, support from family and friends,, hope and love contribute to a feel good story. I highly recommend this amazing book..

This story was an absolute whirlwind of emotions, but it was also incredibly beautiful. Based on a true story, The Almost Twins follows Claire and Tony’s journey through love, military life, infertility, surrogacy, and then a shocking, against-all-odds pregnancy that leaves them with two precious babies born just one day apart.

This book is a heartfelt reminder of the power of love, faith, and resilience; and how sometimes life’s biggest blessings come in the most unexpected ways.
