She has no memory of who she is, where she is, or why the insanely hot, bossy mountain of a man insists they’re fated mates. According to him, he’s the Alpha of a wolf shifter pack—and apparently, she’s a shifter too. Everyone swears the life she remembers isn’t real… and that the truth is far more dangerous.
Zander is terrified.
After years of waiting for his mate, he finally found her—only to lose her to a curse that stole her memories, her wolf, and their bond. Now she’s back in his arms but looks at him like he’s a stranger. She doesn’t remember the love they shared. She doesn’t even remember herself.
But Zander refuses to give up. On her. On them.
As danger brews in the packlands and old enemies rise, time is running out to break the curse before it destroys the one thing Zander thought was unbreakable—their mate bond.
A steamy wolf shifter romance featuring fated mates, a cursed heroine, a devoted alpha, and a bond that refuses to break.
R. A. Beckem mentally lives in the Paranormal Romance world and loves that just off reality vibe to pull you into a new place. With one of her favorite sub-genres being shifter romance it was a natural conclusion that her debut novel would fall deep into wolf shifter territory. She has a voracious reading habit that only rivals her obsession with collecting pretty books.
On a any given day you can find her reading, writing, if the weather is good in one of the gardens her and her husband maintain, or preserving the veggies or herbs she pulls from the garden.
Born and raised in Southern Illinois, and currently living in town with her husband and two Australian Shepherds. Her neighbors affectionately call her a hermit and that her and her husband have made their home into a bit of an rural oasis in pseudo urban life.
I really enjoyed this story from the very beginning. There was a lot of action throughout the book and the perfect amount of romance and spice. The plot was different from other shifter books Ive read, and Im very excited for book 2.
Thank you to The author for sending me a physical arc copy in exchange for my honest review!
I immediately fell in love with Zander and Kara. He stood by her side patiently. With her not remembering them, or that she is a shifter. I loved how he was bound and determined to help her had the ultimate patience. Both were so amazing. And I loved the world building. It was absolutely beautiful. This was such an original take on a story. There wasn’t anything not to love.
I have been wanting more shifter romances lately and have been struggling to find some so when I saw the arc available for this book, I jumped at it. I am so glad I did because it was so good. It immediately goes into what’s going on so even though there’s not a lot of backstory starting out, the author does amazing at explaining throughout the book. You don’t really ever feel lost even though like I said it starts immediately in what’s going on. Kara is our FMC and even though she is completely confused and scared and lost because her memory was taken away at the beginning she does run and you see a little more of the scared side, but she immediately goes into survivor mode and takes care of herself builds a life for herself and then realizes that what’s best not just for her, but for the MMC is to go back with him so she does. She goes back with such an open mind and strength that even though the whole book is working towards solving the mystery and her missing memory, she takes everything with a grain of salt and rebuilds her life with everybody. At first, she’s scared because she’s confused and she doesn’t know what or who to trust, but throughout the book she learns to trust herself, which is so amazing. The MMC, Zander is such a sweetheart. He is an amazing partner for her and treats her so great. He supports her even when it hurts him and she has to be away. He’s patient with her and helps her relearn everything. He is also so loving towards her and honestly, he’s just swoon worthy. I love all the characters in this book and the development throughout keeps you intrigued. I will definitely be reading the next one and can’t wait for it to come out.
Thank you R.A. Beckem & Booksprout for the early copy - all opinions are my own!
Wow—this was an enjoyable debut novel filled with characters that stick with you well after the last page (Even if the last page has its own moment to shine within the epilogue because… what?! I have to wait for the next book to find out more?!)
Favorite character? Kai; not an MC but he stood out with his humor the most.
Least favorite character? Grayson. Why? Can’t tell you; that’s spoiler territory.
4/5 because, yes, this is my first shifter-alpha book I’ve ever read, so I’m new to terms that I feel are established within the genre itself. I personally would’ve loved a glossary to go over the standard terms of an alpha pack.
This story instantly had me. I could imagine every word, every place and everything that went on. I honestly could not put it down and that has not happened to me in awhile. I related to a lot of the characters and was literally screaming at the book when something happened. I loved it and will always recommend this book!
R.A. I have to give you around of applause! This is hands down one of the best shifter romances I have read thus far and the fact that’s it’s a debut novel?!
Mind Blown!!
I love the character building, the world building and that cliffhanger? Chefs kiss!
I cannot wait to see how many people fall in love with this book, because it is so worthy of it!
A long and very satisfying read. Some brilliant characters and a well crafted plot It does end on a cliff-hanger and I cant wait to read the next part of this fast paced all action story.

This was a sweet shifter-romance that shows the power of love even without one's memories. Once I got into the story, it was a page-turner, and I could vividly see all of the characters.
