This is a nice cookbook for folks who eat a Standard American Diet kind of meals and are fairly inexperienced in the kitchen. The author is immensely likable and the dishes sound tasty. There is a photo for every recipe but no nutritional information. A lot of the dishes seem very high in calories and they lean heavily on meat, wheat, dairy and readymade ingredients like boxed cornbread mix, cola, purchased soup, frozen wontons and such. I prefer to cook from scratch and I cook for family members who are gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian, so very few of the recipes would work for me.

I read an online ARC of this book via netgalley.

Meals You Can't Mess Up is exactly the kind of cookbook I love having in the kitchen. The biggest appeal is how approachable the recipes feel. The idea of creating big, satisfying flavors without complicated techniques or excessive effort makes this book especially useful for busy days when you still want a good homemade meal.

I really enjoyed the variety of recipes. There are plenty of ideas to keep everyday cooking interesting without making the process feel overwhelming. The instructions are straightforward, and the recipes are presented in a way that gives you confidence even if you are not an experienced cook.

What I appreciated most is the focus on simplicity without sacrificing flavor. Sometimes easy recipes can feel repetitive, but this collection offers plenty of inspiration for meals that feel enjoyable and satisfying. It is also the kind of cookbook you can return to whenever you need a reliable dinner idea.

The recipes are practical enough for regular weeknight cooking, while still being flavorful enough to make a meal feel special. I can easily see this becoming a go-to cookbook for anyone who wants to spend less time stressing in the kitchen and more time enjoying the food.

Overall, Meals You Can't Mess Up is a fun, practical, and highly approachable cookbook. Its combination of easy instructions, flavorful recipes, and low-effort cooking makes it a valuable addition to any home kitchen. Definitely a five-star read for anyone who wants delicious meals without unnecessary complication.

Thank you to DK for providing a copy of this book for me to review.

Excellent cookbook that is easy to follow with lots of yummy recipes. It’s so refreshing to see a cookbook with “fancy” recipes that caters to the home cook with little to no experience. Each recipe is labeled with things such as “thirty-ish minutes”, “6 ingredients or less”, and “one pot”. This makes it easy to see what you’re getting into at a glance. These labels are explained in the beginning. I also appreciated that many of the recipes had notes on how to use up ingredients. Sometimes this suggested other recipes in the book or other foods you can add them to. There are also notes on things to be cautious about so you don’t mess up the recipe. I really liked that none of the recipes required onerous prep or difficult to source ingredients.
