They are known only to those that exist within their ranks. Officially… they do not exist. They never have.
They track down and destroy the threats to the Alliance before even the intelligence community hears of them. Lunatic scientists, secret agent’s gone rouge, evil criminal syndicates gaining too much power… NightShade takes them all down indiscriminately, whilst watching those who serve the Alliance. Star Command Captain’s, Sky Marshall’s, Senators, even those in rival powers are not immune to their eyes and ears.
No one has asked them to perform this duty. No one has empowered them to do it. Ever given them endorsement. So they have no qualms about breaking the rules.
They are the men in black who emerge from the shadows and disappear without a trace.
And now Raphan DJango has now been given a new assignment by his shadowy superiors, to take his team into the mysterious Bregenna Expanse…
Following Screaming Into the Night in The Seraphim Chronicles, this book begins somewhat earlier in time than Screaming... but runs parallel to it. Events from the earlier book are mentioned in this story to allow the reader to sync things up in their own minds as this story progresses.
Two main issues prevented me from giving this book four or 5 stars: 1) It really needs better editing. Poor grammar, missing words, incorrectly used words, etc. are scattered throughout the book. 2) The book ended so abruptly, and it's a short book to begin with, that I thought I had missed something. As I re-read the last part of the book, I realized that the ending was intentional. I think it could have been done better somehow.
