Lizzie meets here aunts and all kinds of turmoil takes place. I really liked the dialogue and the realization of what had overcome them as things settled towards the end before the reveal.

I know I’ve been quite negative while reading this run…and with good reason, because wow that was a breath of fresh air. Thank you Stephanie Williams and Jeffrey Spokes that was brilliant. Literally took a different creative team one issue to actually utilize the other Amazons and Wonder Girls that Diana should be so close to all the time. This issue opens with Diana standing on the shores of Themyscira with Lizzie in hand…while trembling. She is tried and feels herself unraveling into the shadows, I would feel the same way after suffering the fate of the writing on this run lol (last diss for now I swear, trying to be positive as this is a positive book), and she is in need of help. But when it comes to raising a child, how could it not take a village? And in Diana’s case she has the best support system in the world to fall back on. Nubia and Philippus come to Diana on the beach, they help her to work through her emotions. She is not weak for admitting she needs help, it is “the wisdom of warriors who fight to win, not just to endure,” and at the moment Diana is hollowed out and has nothing left to give which is why she must center herself and refresh as she leans on those who would love nothing more then to support her carry the weight for a bit. Suddenly Yara, Cassie, Donna, Bia, and Clio join them on the beach. Yara can’t help but immediately point out how terrible Diana looks, lol, as it is time for Diana to rest and leave Lizzie in the trustworthy hands of her sisters so she can get some much needed rest. DC I’m begging you, do not let this be the last time. These characters are integral to Diana and her story and must be to Lizzie as well. Please.

So now we get to see the rest of the amazons figure out how to take care of a baby again, which is a fun task. Lizzie is also a bit agitated, no doubt from all the getting thrown around in a sewer filled with giant mice we all had to endure reading through. So now can they get her to calm down and start eating properly? Yara has an idea, she is a wonder girl and a champion so maybe her spirit craves what they do as well…COMBAT! They will fight in front of the child to quell her spirit. Everyone but Queen Nubia thinks this is a great idea and they immediately head to the Colosseum for a friendly spar as Clio prepares her scribes for the first combat Lizzie will observe. Things start out fine, with Donna and Cassie going at it while Yara judges their form…but this doesn’t help with Lizzie at all. So Yara jumps in with a bit more fun choreography to spice things up. But suddenly the battle starts to shift, as the three wonder girls begin sparing with anger not as a simple demonstration. Suddenly their words begin to slice into each other sharper than the blades. Comparing their power to one another and belittling each other. Bia, with a crying Lizzie in her arms, immediately realizes something isn’t right and that something is feeding their anger. The three even begin to fight over the very fate of Lizzie, and finally as the equipment they hold continues to break down Bia seems to be able to see ancient threads feeding on their pride and insecurities. But before they can go any further Nubia and Philippus step in and break them up and ground them back into reality. Immediately the three come back to their senses, realizing what they said and become confused as to where it came from. But Nubia assures them that such venom they spout did not come from their hearts alone. Bia steps forward and warns of the strings she witness pulling them towards violence. She also warns that the cries from Lizzie are not her own, and something is using her voice to amplify and twist the world around them. The signs here are clear to Clio as she compares to the older texts, sisters turning against one another through whispered doubts are signs of Strife, aka Eris. Diana has trusted them with her greatest treasure and they are not going to fall back and call on her now when it is their responsibility to deal with this. But suddenly Lizzie looks around as a terrible force dwells on the island, a cold wind which shouldn’t exist gusts through as once again Lizzie lets out a cry that is not her own but instead the laughter of the goddess of discord…now in paradise. The Amazons are ready to face this threat, all while we end the issue in the shadows around them where Strife sweeps and smiles at the prospect of undoing the amazons by their purse and the love they have a for Lizzie turned against each other all while Diana peacefully sleeps. I know it was popular to say this creative team should take over the series immediately, but now actually experiencing what they can put out I’m downright adamant about it. That was the Wonder Woman content we need and is deserving of the character and the world built around her.

In 2026, I'm trying to read more comics on the week of release to see if the experience is more rewarding than reading the trade collections asynchronously. How accessible are single issues?

This seemed like a good place to jump back into this series as it's a "fill in" storyline. One thing to highlight is how this storyline doesn't really feature Wonder Woman but instead focuses on her support cast. Your enjoyment will depend on your knowledge/appreciation of these characters. I only really know Wonder Girl from the Geoff Johns "Teen Titans" run so it really does feel like an arc I can skip despite the competent writing and art.
The writers do a good job of introducing each character via a fun melee fight which stops it from feeling too exposition heavy.
The art is good at making all the characters look distinct and strong.

Despite being stand-alone and accessible, the fact it focuses on supporting characters has me thinking regular readers will appreciate much more. For those wanting to sample a Wonder Woman they are perhaps better waiting for the main arc to restart or try "absolute wonder woman ". For me it's a decent comic but doesn't have me wanting to return with such a competitive market and limited time/resources. I'd probably check out the creative team with other titles though.

Overall 2/5
Writing 2/5
Art 3/5

Will I read the next issue? No

Did I need to read previous issues/series? Not really.

Will I read earlier issues? As this is a guest/fill in arc, it doesn't really matter.

This is the quality Wonder Woman content I've been missing! Ever since Diana became a mom, I never really liked how she was portrayed as a mom. Tom King was trying too hard to make her seem like the perfect strong mom who can do anything while also looking after a child, but the thing is, that's neither realistic, relatable, nor interesting. Diana is only in this issue for a few pages, and already the way her relationship with Lizzie is portrayed in this issue is so much better than it has been! It is genuinely so refreshing seeing Diana admit that she doesn't know what she's doing and she needs help. She returns to Themyscira and turns to her Amazon family for guidance, and the result is an issue that is really focused on the characters and their relationships.

The Wonder Girls are also back in this issue, and I'm always happy to see them. Donna is one of my favorite DC characters, and I love Yara more and more every time she makes an appearance.

This was just about everything I love to see in a Wonder Woman comic. So excited for issue 30!

Incredibly well written, as always with Stephanie Williams. She utilizes the main cast of Wonder Woman very well and I wish she got more issues because this is nothing like the rest of the run...
One massive caveat, that I do not blame the writer or artist for but exclusively the colorosit. The black people in this issue are drawn accurately but colder in a grey skin no human has and it's distranctly bad.

4 stars. A good issue! Feels like this series hasn't had one of those in a long, long time. Diana leaves the baby with the Amazons to find herself again and it was so interesting. I really liked the ending and I cannot wait to see where this new arc is going.

This was sooo good I need Williams writing more Wonder Woman now. I love when writers can use the cast of the wonder family to an extent such as this.

An ok segue from the main story, I suppose it’s good to have all the wonder characters together again. The plot here seemed a little heavy handed.
