Saw a snippet of this in an ad and decided I needed to read it. Super quick read, so that was nice. The idea of the story is cute but.. I have a few gripes.

First of all, the rivalry was a bit insane. I mean maybe I'm super out of touch with HS rivalries, but this was too intense imo.

Also we never really do anything about the fact that Ava, HER FRIEND, literally tells Lily to k*** herself???? Like we are just moving past that and not circling back?? We just moved on and never really talked about it again. And she wasn't really brought up for the rest of the book except for Jonah to say he told her off? Understandably so because she thought it was funny that Mason's brother died and then was pissy because Jonah didn't think it was cool to joke about it?? What a crazy deranged character.

And the random twist with her mom? "Oh btw, I had an affair and your dad isn't really your dad and I've resented you your entire life because you weren't my son who died." How does that explain anything? It just makes things more confusing. And when people are texting you that your daughter has been in an accident and you just say "stop lying" Another unhinged crazy character.

Things got a little far fetched.

2.5/5 only because it did make me feel things at times.

Using this for Broken 2 as it is not on here that I could find.

Better writing than the first book. The author was able to tell the story better with less unneeded details like the first book. Loved how the twist in the story was not a traditional twist for a romance story.

As the author keeps growing, going to become one to keep an eye on!

Read this book in one day. Glad I was able to find it on kindle u and paid the 8.99 to read definitely worth it.

This book was amazing. Hated that whole app thing that was very annoying and then couldn’t find the second book unless I paid 60$ a month for the app and I wasn’t doing that. But I really enjoyed this story mason was the bad boy on the rival team and she was heart broken for find her best friend with her boyfriend. It was fate and mason fell first and hard. He knew they couldn’t actually be together cause they go to school that hate each other but that couldn’t keep them away. Once school started back mason thought she didn’t want him since they slept together and she left without saying anything while he was alseep so he left her alone until her volleyball game and his friends laim and Brittany talked to lily at her game. To see why mason is so down and out all of a sudden since school started back and she didn’t know cause he wouldn’t talk to her They start dating and her school goes nuts with death threats from one of her close friends to her gay best friend completely mad at her she was on her way to masons game and end up being in a car wreck and that whole couple chapter had my stomach in a wad her mom is a complete bitch and any no damn way I would have anything to do with her with the way she acted after finding out her daughter was in a car wreck and bout died. But it’s was an amazing story!!!

I really wanted to fully love this one because Lily and Mason were such a "cute" couple. Their meet-cute was charming, and I genuinely enjoyed the slowish build-up of their relationship—they had great chemistry and felt like the most grounded part of the book.

However, the world-building around them felt a bit "over the top" for me. While I understand the rival high school trope, the side characters were vicious to a point that didn't feel realistic. It’s hard to stay immersed when everyone is so cartoonishly mean. That lack of realism extended to the parents, too—Lily’s mother being gone for months on end and Mason’s family dynamic felt more like they were designed for "emotional shock value" rather than being believable characters.

The pacing also suffered from some "too much, too soon" syndrome. Big events—like Lily’s accident—felt like they happened purely for the drama without enough narrative lead-up to make them feel earned.

Final Thoughts: I enjoyed the leads enough that I would have liked to see where their story goes in Broken Not Shattered, but since the sequel is locked behind a specific app with "wait times" and "points," I’ll be stopping here. A solid read for the romance, but the surrounding drama was just a bit too much.

Sports & Love perfect combo

I loved everything about this book except one thing. It had me hooked from the first time it came across my social media page as an Ad. So, I finally read it, and man I was so good!!! It was a quick read but also the storytelling was done so great. Its about Lily and Mason's senior year of high school and their love story. This book, will pull at your heart strings and have you laughing, crying and angry. But then happy again. Of course there is also sports. This is only book 1 of their story and I can't wait to read the next one. I had this book read in a day. The only thing I disliked was the college that is mentioned but, I let it slide because I loved the rest of the book.

4 stars, 2 spice. Lily meets Mason on the day she breaks up with her boyfriend. They bond over the summer and each must overcome hostility for dating someone from the rival school.

It’s a sweet love story. I liked that their relationship is rock solid. The ex deserves to be humiliated for cheating and attacking Lily for no reason. I didn’t really understand either mother. They both seem to have abandoned their kids for no reason. Overall, it’s a bit predicable, but I binging it in one sitting.

Three stars is being generous but for what the story was, it was entertaining enough. I got hooked on this series after seeing it on BookTok and needed to know how it ended. While the writing often fell short and several plotlines felt unrealistic, I was invested enough in Mason and Lily to push through to their happily ever after. I likely wouldn’t have paid for the second book, but since it was included as a free download at the end of book one, I’ll probably skim it to see where things go.

Good read. Hard to put down

Broken (Book 1) by Evelyn Miller was a really cute read. I enjoyed the characters and the story kept me interested from beginning to end. The ending was definitely my favorite part—it wrapped things up in a satisfying way and left me excited to continue the series. Overall, a fun and enjoyable book that I’d recommend if you’re looking for a sweet, engaging read.

Forbidden love between two people from rivaling high schools.

This is a great coming of age story.

A forbidden romance between two rival schools.

Two people destined to be together against all odds.

There are lots of sweet moments ans some heartbreaking moments too.

This is a quick read and I look forward to the next chapter in their lives.

Amazing

This book shows what is like to be an actual teenager with the rivalry schools and all the emotions, friends and family. I love how they put in how her friendship changes throughout the story and how she thought something of someone and was proven wrong. I love how Mason is so caring and protective over Lily and how he sticks up for her no matter what.

Good Quick Read

Although this has a lot of mistakes, a good editor should have caught, it is a quick easy read. It has enough drama to keep me interested but it isn’t over complicated. There is no cheating in the couple once they are together and they are equally broken. No saviors.

Some errors throughout, but cute story

The story between Lily and Mason was cute, but there were some errors with grammar throughout, and there were some issues with descriptions of plays in the football scenes (how could Mason be the QB and then catch a pass…?); some more research into topics of the story would have been better

Good but hard to find

This was a great book! I found it on FB and luckily was able to find the full story on Amazon, or I would've had to use Galatea, which Ive heard is awful. The beginning hooked me. Loved the characters. Very feel good, easy read that I binged in a day.

Short & Sweet

It was a cute little story to pass the time. Nothing special but I like these reads when I'm needing something in between books that are series. It cleanses the palette so to speak.

Cute

The formatting is why the star level is low theres spacing between paragraphs sometimes and sentences break between lines, but the characters are supporting each other and its a sweet YA story

That was a book I read

I feel like AI had to have written this. It's completely unrealistic when it comes to the actual coming of age experience. But it's dramatic and a very quick read.

rivals to lovers

Such a GREAT read. Super fast paced and easy to follow.

Lily finds her bf and best friend hooking up, runs away and stumbles across a nude man. Needless to say he’s from her rival school. They start talking and it goes up from there.

Speedy read, good feels

A quick read, it is a sweet story. I enjoy the dynamics amongst of the characters and the various types of relationships. Not only the romantic relationship of Lily and Mason, but the siblings, best friends and even the frenemies. Jonah is my favorite.
