Now that Ben Giles has moved on from his ex-wife and his conservative background, the idea of a committed relationship with handsome divorce attorney Tobias no longer scares him. Their life in California is beginning to feel settled, and Ben’s love for the other man only continues to grow. And as friends of theirs tie the knot, Ben is realizing what he wants for his future with Tobias.. A future he hopes will include marriage and children.
But as a high-powered attorney, nothing can erase the cynicism Tobias Sheffield has acquired through years of dealing with painful divorces and bitter break-ups. And he knows all too well how much harder it becomes when kids are involved. While his feelings for Ben run deep, that doesn’t change his opinion about marriage; he’s not interested and he never will be.
Can Tobias and Ben get past another obstacle or are their differing ideas about marriage and family impossible to overcome? With so much at stake, they’ll have to reexamine their feelings and decide what’s important if they are going to continue to build a future together.
Men of Law has been, overall, the strongest series by Chad Lane yet and this third part, despite editing issues and a few other confusing points, gets four stars from me, simply because it was a quick and easy read that left me happy.
Where book two of the series felt somewhat rushed and didn't quite reach the same level as book one, Embracing Him managed to be a positive surprise.
I loved the fact that Tobias hates Ben's ex but I was surprised by Ben's own feelings going so resentful, even if it was understandeable, so quickly.
While the overall story was very nice, I think expanding the timeline would've worked in it's favor. All the same things could've happened, just let it take a bit longer.
The last bit that really bothered me was that Ben was a virgin. Yet again. I like MCs that are virgins but not when said virginity keeps renewing itself.
