Vaccines 2.0: The Careful Parent's Guide to Making Safe Vaccination Choices for Your Family

Rate this book
The CDC’s bloated vaccine schedule has doubled since 1988, after the federal government gave pharmaceutical companies immunity from lawsuits. Autism and other childhood disorders like asthma, ADHD, juvenile diabetes and digestive ailments have skyrocketed. And parents are understandably nervous, desperate for objective guidance that takes those concerns seriously.

Vaccines 2.0 looks at the lengthy roster of today’s recommended injections, the documented risks that accompany them, and helps parents choose a schedule based on unbiased, uncensored, unconflicted science. From whether to get a flu shot during pregnancy--and how to avoid dangerous mercury if you do--to the Hep B shot within hours of birth, to the controversial Gardasil vaccine for preteens, Vaccines 2.0/i> provides the tools to decide for yourself.

The three sections cover: Why should you care? What should you know? What can you do? The exclusive Risk-Reward Assessment assigns a numerical score to each of the 14 recommended vaccines. Also included is information on learning to spot, report and treat side effects; talking to your doctor and finding a sympathetic one if you can't, and comparing alternative schedules if you decide to delay or skip shots. When it comes to your child, it's your choice. Vaccines 2.0 will give you the information you need to choose wisely.

Very good and balanced book about vaccines. The book goes through all the vaccines on the CDC schedule and gives general information about each one, the reward factors as well as the risk factors (because yes there are risks when it comes to vaccines) and then an overall rating. I've been doing my own research on vaccines for over 5 years now and still learned some new things from this book. I also liked the section at the end about the different options for parents as well as their chapter on how to prevent vaccine injuries. There's no one size fits all medicine and that includes vaccines. Parents should be doing their own research and vaccinating as they see fit for their child's needs, not blindly with the loaded and ever increasing CDC schedule.

My one criticism is that the book lacks references and citations. The last page says they can be found on the publisher's website but I couldn't find anything. I would've loved to have had that information. I wonder if this is just on the edition I have as I see this book is 300 something pages...mine was only 210 pages.

This book also shows how much can change in a short time. It was published in 2015 and so much has changed when it comes to vaccines since then, including the new combo shots. For example one advice was to only get TDaP at one visit but that's impossible to do here in Ontario as it's only available in a combo vaccine with IPV and Hib. The fact that vaccine manufacturers don't offer more options for parents to separate vaccines (but instead try to add more and more into one injection) speaks volumes to me as to how much they really care about children's health. Anyways I'd recommend it to any new parents and I bought an extra copy for the sole purpose of being able to lend it out to others.

Haven’t read the whole way through. Probably best used as more of a reference book as and when things come up. I’d struggle to say it was completely balanced or unbiased, but it is a helpful resource for thinking through vaccine choices for your kids.

Very good book that did a fair job of objectively presenting the science and the facts so that readers can be educated and make their own decisions. I Love that this is a more recent publication so it has more up to date science

Well, here's a terrifying topic. Read this book, get some advice on what vaccines and when to do them, and then lay awake all night fretting about the choices you have to make to keep your child alive.

Helpful rating system.

I think this is an important book to read, regardless of your stance on vaccination. It’s easy to read, unbiased and offers useful information for whichever avenue you decide to take for your children.

I would have given it 5 stars, however, I was unable to find the references and citations on the website that it referred to at the end of the book. Regardless, it’s not hard to find peer-reviewed studies and medical journals that support the claims made. A lot of information is used from VAERS, the CDC and the AAP which is easily accessible to anyone.

It touches on many different issues linked with childhood vaccinations and information on who stands to benefit the most from these and why. Again, this is informative and factual, easily confirmed through credible sources.

I wouldn’t use it as a ‘make or break’ book for anyone’s stance on vaccinations, but as a useful tool to provide you with further information and research points.

This book is well researched and provides the pros and cons for each vaccine on the vaccination schedule. They give parents a lot of good advice for dealing with our corrupt modern medical system and explain that corruption and what happens behind the scenes. I can attest that the scientific literature backs up what they say and they have a list of references available at the link at the end of the book.

Very good information, just wish the sources were cited for reference. Provided options for parents to be informed about each vaccine and its associated risks or benefits.

American focus, which was still somewhat relevant.
Due to all the media attention this topic has been receiving, I decided this would be a useful topic to educate myself on. I worry about future decisions which will have to be made in regards to childhood vaccinations. Based on the inflated schedule of vaccines in youth, it is essential to know whats involved. I do not feel confident that toxicity has been fully studied to understand long term effects.
It is my belief that everyone should educate themselves and make individual decisions (with dialogue with medical provider) based on their child's medical history. A customized plan for each child should be developed- this may include spacing out vaccine schedule, completely avoiding any shot with thimerosal, avoiding any shots before 2 months of age, avoiding shots if the baby has been on antibiotics recently etc etc etc. This book taught me that there are SO many different ways to feel more confident in the vaccine implementation at birth. I can only hope that tolerance and progressiveness improves in this field- too many parents are ostracized for inquiring or challenging the "mainstream" implementation schedule.

I really like the way that the information was presented and the ratings on each of the individual vaccines. I flagged certain pages and made notes while reading. I feel even if I implement the strategies for "preventing vaccine injuries", I will have more confidence in the process.

On a side note, it's disconcerning to learn yet another layer of government corruption and alternate agendas. This is glossed over in the book, but it is something very intertwined with the issue at hand. 4/5 stars.
